My experiences at Staples in Chico have unfortunately been more frustrating than positive. I've come in several times to process Amazon returns, and about 90% of those visits have felt unwelcoming. Most staff members have come across as impolite, and often there's little to no eye contact or basic acknowledgment of the customer. Customer service really sets the tone for a business, especially when handling quick service tasks like returns. There's definitely significant room for improvement in how customers are greeted and assisted. I genuinely hope management takes this as constructive feedback and works toward creating a friendlier, more attentive environment. I was kicked out of this Chico staple store by one of the managers for not addressing a male employee as a "HER". He was clearly a man and so I referred to him as sir trying to get assistance. I was yelled at in my face it's a her. It's a her !!!! I said I'm sorry, but he's clearly a man and so I addressed him as sir. She continued to yell at me. It's a her it's a her and ordered me to get out of the store and never to return . I didn't get her name, but she was white and had one of those nose/lip piercings. Went in to do an Amazon return today at 11am and needed to buy ink for my printer. The lady did not greet me. Instead, she said she has to do this all day, Amazon returns. She stated she can't get items out on the floor and to think Staples is paying Amazon for the service while at the same time they let go their employees. I thanked her for my return and her time yet she still had nothing to say to me. I decided I'd go buy my ink at another location. I didn't want to overwhelm her for a job she technically is getting paid by staples for. Maybe they let go the wrong employee and it should have been her with me no customer service. read more

Last night I stopped in at staples to fax something. I've only needed staples to copy papers in the pass. I also like having help the first time I use things to make sure I don't waste papers and don't overcharge myself. Last night in question Zach was working in that area. I asked for help he told me he couldn't, I'm sorry is this what you not get paid for working in that area. All because he had follow up calls to make. I've working customers service before and customers come first always. I almost went into tears cause I needed something faxed. I finally got Zach to help me in the end. But, if you're reading this from store please do better when it comes to customers asking for help. I purchased an Epson Ecotank ET 4850 on Oct 18 2023. The printer stopped working properly in March 2024, the document feeder would not feed documents to the scanner or copier and the scanner on document feeder stopped showing up on the scan app. When purchasing from Staples I was advised to purchase a 4 year warranty from Asurion, I contacted them but they stated that since it was under a year from purchase I had to contact Epson. I went to Staples and they told me that Asurion was the one to deal with and they did not provide any assistance. Initially Epson said the printer was not under warranty but did. change their mind. Then asked me to do multiple tests while on the phone and told me the printer had a hardware malfunction. All this took 5 hours on the phone! I asked for a new printer since the one I had was less than 6 months old but they stated if the printer breaks after 30 days they will not provide a new printer. I asked for a refund but they said they do not do that. I did not trust Epson as this point so am without a printer for 10 days or so and am not getting a new one. The warranty procedure should be explained clearly when purchasing a quite expensive printer that turned out to be less than reliable. read more

I had a hard project request at the print center. Zach went above and beyond to get my project perfect. It was by far the best customer service I've ever had despite the challenge. Abrianna was the most unfriendly, and disrespectful employee. I could have the displeasure of dealing with I went to make signs for my lost cat, and most of the laminated copies ended up rippled, which I asked her to please reprint. she did this, but they were still rippled and I had to ask her for half off on these rippled copies... She seemed to not want to do that, but after I called manager over, I was given the discount... However, Brianna, tacked on a $10 fee which I was not aware that Staples charged for in-house printing... She said it was completely obvious to all customers at this fee would be charged if you allow staples to do your printing for you... I was not aware of this? I'm sure it was because I wore my great hat in there, possibly that I was treated with such distain and contempt, because after I called a manager over, they refused to take this away... I've never experience such negative energy when printing anything, I would never go to Staples to print anything and I would advise everyone to avoid it read more

Had a great experience with the print & marketing dept. I was in a rush to get some materials printed for an event. They did quality work quickly! I could not be happier. Everyone was really nice and helpful. Everyone else in the store was also super friendly. This is actually one of the nicest Staples stores I have been to. Lot's of product on the shelves, well maintained and clean. I would absolutely recommend them for printing/marketing services. read more

I went there because they said 110% price match guarantee. So the one in Bestbuy was a dollar cheaper so I still went to Staples to get 110% price match as advertised but they would only match Bestbuy 100%, what happen to 110%? The girl who was in charge of the service department told me just to go to Bestbuy and buy it there instead of there cuz they won't do the 110% price match guaranteed. False advertisement on Staples. They don't do 110%. Don't waste your time. Sales associate who helped me with the printer was nice but the service manager, she was rude and wanted me to go to another company for business instead of doing business in there store. Keep in mind, they sell laser timers and toners cost more than the printer itself but she doesn't see value in customer service or customer loyalty. read more

There has been a significant change at this Chico Store. The previous manager has left and there is a new manager and staff. Today was the first time I had gone in there in over 2 years. Ching, Nathan, and Dylan were all instrumentally helpful with my purchase and establishing my new Rewards account. This positive change was badly needed as can be seen from their earlier reviews. Everyone is correct. The customer service here is absolutely terrible. Hey if you're trying to fix the problem and there's only two of you and you're both at the same register, at least acknowledge all the people standing there LOL. So that when 10 minutes goes by and you're still standing there and you haven't even been acknowledged, you feel some sense of peace and security that they're actually going to help you ha ha Ha. Just had a fantastic experience at the Staples print shop. I needed some photos printed to renew my Australian passport, which has some very specific requirement specifications, and need a much higher resolution than my home printer could supply. I brought in a photo file on a thumb drive and and the guy behind the counter (Tom) was extremely understanding and helpful. After I described what I needed he did a couple of tests to make sure it looked right and printed me out two perfect copies. All this only took about ten minutes and was under two bucks! Went in to the printing center to print some return labels for my amazon rentals to ship out today. As a first time amazon renter/staples customer, and a quite flustered student who is just ready to go home after finals, Thomas, an employee working the print center helped me so much. Not only did he guide me through printing the print labels, he also packaged my books completely for me, all with a kind attitude. He was quick on his feet and did it all with a smile on his face! I needed 250 letters to send out for my business. The staff member said it was no problem, an "easy job". He told me it would cost $28 for 250 sheets, copied and folded and ready to go into envelopes. They could do it the next morning, which was good because I needed to send them out the next day. We went to get them at 12:30, but they were not ready. They called around 2pm and we went back to get them, and started stuffing envelopes. About half way through we ran out of letters! They had only made 125. So, I went back to complain, expecting an apology and to get the rest of my letters made. But no, the "manager" explained their mistake and wanted me to pay again to get the rest printed! I was gobsmacked! They quoted me the wrong price, charged me the wrong price, and then did half the job, made me come back again and again, then wanted me to pay again to get the job finished! On top of that, I missed my deadline to mail out the letters! Unbelievable! read more

This review is not so much for the store but for the really awful experience I had ordering ink cartridges on line for my Canon printer. Ordering was easy, I only needed blue and magenta cartridges since the yellow doesn't seem to run out so fast. So they promised free two day shipping, I guess it was some kind of promotion, and it came in on time. I didn't need it that day so didn't open it until the weekend. Guess what? My correctly addressed box contained HP ink with an invoice for a business in Minnesota. The picker/packer in the shipping department really messed up. The local store couldn't help me. Said not their fault/problem! I tried calling the number on the wrong invoice but the business center is not open on weekends(?) I called on Monday and after being on hold for 20 minutes I gave up. I went back on line and started a chat. The guy couldn't find my order with the order number. He finally found it with my telephone number. He took a while to get the fact that I got the wrong ink. Finally after about a half hour he said someone would call me when they figured out what had happened. So I am punished for their screw up? I asked what about the wrong order--he said he couldn't help with a business order, I would need to contact the business center for that! I got an email the next day saying they would reship and I would get my ink in a week or so. Meanwhile after calling the business center I was finally told to throw or donate the HP ink. Customer non-service. I knew there was a reason I had stopped using Staples. read more

They are always great to me, this time they (as I am not computer literate) took the time to help me understand what I was getting and explaining it in a clear and understandable way. I'm a frequent staples shopper and have recently had the location closest to me close. It's unfortunate that I had to drive 45 minutes and receive such rude treatment. I was rushed through my visit. I was unaware of the closing hours and the cashier came up to me asking me if he could help me find something I'm a rude manner. He definitely could have approached me in a more calm and friendly way. I was so put off he barely even wanted to show me what I was actually there to purchase. As I approached the counter to pay he wasn't even anywhere close to the register, instead he was mocking the way I said I was unaware of the hours. His manager had to point out that I was there to pay. If only employees could actually give customer service in a customer service oriented job I would have been pleased with the experience, unfortunately I was not.
