Doing business with staples has been a troubling experience. I had to fax important tax docs to the irs and from the moment I walk into the store I end up looking around for help totally confused in front of several employees and they're are all oblivious to my need for help. I'm literally looking around at employees flailing my arms and they still don't notice me. The guy who finally helps me has an attitude like I should know how to fax something even though I've never done it before. He walks away abruptly and I end up having several important questions and no one is accessible to answer me. I'm still looking around for help very confused and black guy in the printing and marketing department is just casually chatting up some woman behind me who is busy doing office work. I'm in front of them still looking and feeling totally confused and really needing help. I will NEVER do business with this staples again. I'll go to the ups store next time. This TEAM is AWESOME!! I went to pick up an assembled office chair with a friend and while making space in the back of her car I noticed she had some trash. I picked it up and put it in a bag. I couldn't find a trash can outside the store, but there was one inside the entry door so I tossed it there... ALONG WITH MY CELL PHONE!! I discovered it was missing while we were at the Ralphs up the street, but figured I had lost it down the seat, so I didn't look for it until we got back to her house....not there, BIG OMG moment!! My friend called Staples immediately, but it had not been turned in. I asked if they had emptied their garbage yet and explained to them what I might have done and told them that I would come over to look for it. When I got there I was told that they had found it in the trash. Bruno, I'm assuming the manager, returned it to me CLEANED and CHARGED!!! The problem these days is customer service sucks. You call almost any company and they forward you to a foreign country where the reps are 'practicing' their English (which is always horrible) and you can't understand a word they say. I ask for an American rep so I can understand and they hang up on me, after placing me on hold for half an hour. I spent almost 2 hours trying to get some support and I still don't know how to work the product. When I called out David and Ryan, they basically blew me off. Staples is not alone in the worst customer service category, but they're tied with all the other cheap crap companies that outsource their tech support to Asia in last place. read more

I have been here many times, my most recent trip involved a stop at the copy and print center for some color printing and the regular retail side for a return and purchase with price match with amazon. The copy print center was taking order for completing next day but the sales assistant offered to show me how to do the self service and also offered a loaner print card. I really did not want to bother with obtaining another card for my wallet so it was nice to be able to use theirs temporarily. Then when it came time to pay she called the manager over to price match amazon on an sd card. I got a great deal and they offered it with smile. thank you. read more

Literally the worst and slowest staples ever. I will not come back to this store again. Service is always slow. And today was the final straw for me when I got items printed and needed the professional paper cutter to cut my custom water bottle wraps and apparently customer are not allowed to use it anymore. This is my second try with my neighborhood Staples and still the worst service ever as i see i am not the only one . The printing service desk are the absolute worst. The work is sloppy and if i could take photos you would be shocked. The only positive part of this was the manager gave me my money back after MUCH back and forth with the rude gentleman at the printing desk who was negative from the get go!!! Well, not a good experience for me. Called, after an over 5 min wait on the phone, employee gives me email for printing, I attached a file and sent it. Received confirmation that file was received , great. Called about an hour later, too busy to check on my job, ok. Called another hour, got hung up on twice, ok, maybe busy? Called another hour later, sorry no file. No file? I received the confirmation. Someone can't call me to say they need it resent? I get a winded employee who really didn't care. Ok, on to the next shop. Someone must want the business. So, I call another place send same file and guess what, not problem and they did receive it. I told them of my experience at Staples, they said " it is very common for them to tell a customer that". Very poor customer skills in my opinion. read more

Awful customer service. I've had problems here three times. No one cares. They all act like they're waiting for someone famous to come in to shop. News flash.... every customer should matter. I came in looking for a pink calculator. They didn't have it and the guy looked for it online. Apparently they didn't have it in their website. He told me to come back a week later to see if they would have it then. I asked for the skew number so I would get the right calculator and he gave me attitude about having to write it down. I hate bad customer service. I now prefer Office Depot which used to have terrible customer service, but now has some of the best service ever. Wow- would never use their printing and marketing services again. I ordered an item and intial came into the store to find that they printed the wrong item (not even remotely my art even after I had confirmed the item in store). They rushed to reprint the item so.i would have it on time with NO apologies given to me for the mix-up (what would have happened had I not stopped by the store??). When picking up the reprint the next day they had printed the item wrong!!! Bleeds were included in the print when the template to include bleeds. Our printing job was ruined. I did speak to Peter (store manager) and he was more than accomedating but that doesn't excuse poor costumer service in the department. Moral of the story: mistakes happen. But.if.a mistake does happen- own it! Don't blame it on your customer!! read more

This review is for the copy center. I understand that it is dec 19th and you are overwhelmed with Christmas card orders, but when I approach you and ask to print out ONE 5x7 image off an email, then I don't think it's unreasonable to take 15 seconds out of your day to do it, instead of telling me to come back tomorrow, especially after another sales associate already told me to email them and had me wait around for the confirmation email. Also, there was a lady there complaining about the awful quality of her Christmas cards (which I didn't see), but I did witness the attitude from the sales associate after she politely asked that they get re done. Soo all in all, I'm done with this copy center and will go elsewhere. read more

This is the second time I've come here for enlargements and definitely the last time. My first experience was enlarging photos to 16x20 for one of my clients and the pictures came out dark and foggy which they claimed was due to my photos. So much for quick and efficient. I ended up using the same photos, ordered them elsewhere and they came out perfectly fine. It was money out of my own pocket since they wouldn't give me any compensation for their bad print quality. The second visit was to get a schedule enlarged but they claimed I'd have to come back tomorrow to order it because they didn't have time. Why can't I leave it now and pick it up tomorrow when you "have more time"? So annoying, will NOT be returning to this location. The employees in the Copy & Print Center have no idea what customer service means, at least have a better attitude. read more

I was at Staples on 17th Street in Costa Mesa and spotted a Dell computer that was on sale. Since there were 2 computers out I wanted to make sure the computer on sale was the same as the description. The salesman from the tech department assured me it was a Dell touch screen with 1Tb and 8GB. He even told me that since I had a touch screen I would want the insurance. So I went for it. When I got home it was not the same computer. No touch screen 500GB and 4GB. Thinking they simply picked up the wrong computer (I hate to think they did it on purpose) I took it back and got a song and dance. So I only really go here to ship stuff because it's around the corner from my house vs. going to an actual post office. But after multiple mediocre experiences with the shipment center I will go out of my way to drive to the post office. He helped me get it formatted right, pick the stationary that would work best and then get it aligned right to fit properly! If I ever need anything like this again I'm definitely coming back here! Customer service in the print center is awful! With Fed Ex printing right down the street I wonder why I even ever go into this place. They would rather turn away business than take care of their customers. A simple print job that their self service printer wouldn't print and they wouldn't print from their computers which I know they can do because other locations do it all the time. Staples really needs to focus more on customer service if they want to keep their loyal customers verse letting them go to the fed ex where customer service is phenomenal. Definitely choose fed ex printing in Costa Mesa over this staples location! read more

Wow horrible customer service today by Ryan. Went to return two items and asked to have them done on two separate cards. He ran the first one then told me he cannot return a second transaction using the same ID. So instead of telling me that he went through the motion of returning the first item, then said too bad on the second. I asked him if that was the policy, only one return on an ID, and he said yes. Extremely rude and a waste of time. The only reason I came into the store was because the return pick up service that my office ordered in JANUARY had still yet to come despite my calls and emails. Wow! Just spent over 10 minutes on hold for print and copy department! Finally call answered by extremely unhelpful and rude salesperson. Michelle was so unhelpful that I called another staples where my call was answered within 2 minutes and by a really nice helpful person who handled everything I needed and didn't make me feel Iike an idiot and who could actually explain the difference between paper and print quality. And can get the job done today whereas Michelle told me she couldn't get anything done until tomorrow afternoon. Small job 100 pages. You've got to be kidding me?!?! I just sat on hold with this Staples store for 5 + minutes TWICE in a row to have someone answer and then promptly hang up on me each time. The first time I assumed it was a mistake but come on, twice?!?! I'm done with this Staples, I live nearby so it is the closest one to me. I have visited for various needs, home office supplies, kids school supplies, faxing, mailing, etc. What I really dislike about this store is the horrible customer service. Besides never receiving any greeting or offers to help me find things in store, there is ALWAYS a lengthy wait whenever I need to use the mailing/printing/computer use area. I don't even receive an acknowledgment. I managed a private doctors office for years so I thoroughly understand the importance of customer service and customer satisfaction and this Staples location just fails at it terribly! It doesn't only reflect upon the employees as generally miserable beings but also reflects upon your business (you should realize this). After all of the negative reviews left here on Yelp you would think there would have been a cleansing of employees at this location and a replacement with those who actually want to work, want to be employed, and who I imagine are happier with their lives than those currently employed. First thing that comes to mind after being hung up on twice today: lazy rude people, pathetic! I will not be using this store for any needs again. This Staples is very close to my work, but once again I am amazed by the lack of customer service in their copy center. An example for today. Nice man walks up to the counter says he would like a few changes to his business cards that he just ordered from the same store 6 months ago. The lady behind the counter says she is sorry all their customer history was erased 3 months ago so he would need to recreate the card from the beginning and pay for all the related set up charges again. He and I both laugh at out loud and he walks away empty handed. Next guy walks up and needs to mail a letter that is in his hand (mind you this is a mailing center) and asks to buy a stamp? Same lady behind the counter says sorry I can only sell you in books of 20. He walks away to get a stamp from his car. I'm here to have a business card laminated for my wallet. I ask her if she can trim the edges of the lamination so it will fit in my wallet? She says she would need to charge me more for that. I said just hand me the scissors. Its interesting that a company that has been around for awhile and who can train their employee to do a better job, is still lacking the basic communication and business skills. I needed to do a simple 2 enlarged photo print jobs, so I went to the store (print/copy area). I was told, they are busy so I need to come next day to pick my print job. However, they said that I can leave the files with them so next day when I come to pickup the photos, I don't have to wait. I did, as I was told. So, next day when I picked up my photos, I noticed that there were lines, scratches and dust embedded in the prints. I mentioned that to the person who handed me my prints. She finally agreed after I convinced her that they simple cannot come from the photos themselves (After all, we are using digital photography and not a 35mm film). So, I was told to come next day and it will be ready. When, next day I went to pick my photos, they couldn't find them. Finally, it was discovered that the person day before, didn't said or wrote anything about the issue, so the new prints were never printed. Needless to say, I just left and went to Office Depot on Harbor and they printed perfect prints while I waited!!! read more

I'm in here 2-3 times a months for my job and when ever i have a problem finding something out of the ordinary they always have it and there is a person who can tell you exactly where it is. All associates have this knowledge as I have never had one ask another where to find something. I have been using this print place for wedding invitations, bridal shower invites, bachelorette invites, and signs and games for the bridal shower. They do look great but the service is horrible. I dropped off one of the orders and the girl told me to come back at 6. So I did and the girl that was there was a different girl and had no idea about the order. And with each time I was checked out the prices are different. Never consistent. The girl there today didn't even acknowledge me for about 10 minutes. Just horrible customer service!!! read more
