So, I have gone to Staples for everything office related for a long time. After today's interaction I will NEVER go there again. Somebody needs to teach them how to answer phone calls, if they are going to talk about how dumb a customer is, they should probably hit the hold button first. After waiting on hold for multiple minutes, somebody picked up, and asked why I was holding. After long hold times, and talking to 3 different people, The last person told me to go on-line, or down to Fry's. (so glad i'm not the manager of this Grass Valley Circus) If I could give you any advise it would be to make the trip to Auburn, or buy your supplies on-line. This Staples is regularly the worst shopping experience possible. I am a small business manager and in this store 1-2 times per week. If you know what you want, great. If you have even one question, go elsewhere. Every single time - whether typical 'rush' hours or middle of the day - they are bafflingly understaffed. More than once, I have walked around for 5 or 10 minutes as the only customer in the store, unable to find a single salesperson on the floor. We've taken to flipping a coin at the office... loser has to make the Staples run. read more

I called to find out information on my warranty for the shredder I purchased, and the gal who answered let out a big sigh when I told her what I wanted, and she said she really didn't know. I could tell this would go nowhere, so asked for someone who was possibly more familiar with what I was asking, was put on hold for a very long time, then someone answered asking who I was holding for, I began telling them, and the call went dead. :-( Called back and asked for a manager; been on hold for a long time... Wow, some of the worst customer service in the county. Even though there are plenty of checkers around they're all busy chatting with each other or...well, I don't know what they're doing but I know if I want to buy a pack of pens it takes me forever and I don't even venture over to their copy/printing area anymore. read more

Its pretty Dismal if your looking for tech support. I went in for their 10 dollar tune up and they wanted to charge me a 150 to install 2 drivers and do some check of my computer. I would rather hire an independent who will actually try to get my computer fixed without fleecing me. I wouldn't buy an electronic item here either. You'll never get support on the floor to help you look for what you need. read more

What a filthy and depressing store !! Debris on the floors, shelves in disarray and many empty slots. What happened to this place?? When we first moved here a few years ago, it was a pretty nice store with friendly staff. Many sale items have been out of stock. This location is not kept up properly, both in neatness/cleanliness, and merchandise. Except for cashiers, it's almost impossible to find a salesperson. Cashiers try to show a friendly face, but I would bet that morale here is quite low. I hope that things can get back on track again :-( read more

Staples is what it is, a office supply store. I own a restaurant and go to this store at least once a week. I had a banner printed, business cards in a hour, all within a ridiculously low price. The customer service is ok, but with the prices so reasonable and sales, I think this store is good to shop at. I do miss the old Manager Jeff, he was awesome. read more

On Saturday morning I brought in 8 lbs of personal documents to be shredded. There was only one person working the print dept and she told me it would be awhile before she could help me. I told her I'd come in at a different time. I returned to the store in mid afternoon time and a different clerk asked if I felt comfortable leaving the bag with her she would take care of securing the documents in the shredding box after she had finished with her customer. Again only one clerk to do many tasks. Lots of customer no service going on at this store. Anyway I told her I trusted that she would do the job right away, so left the bag in her charge. I returned to the store today, Sunday around 4 pm just to make sure the job had been done. To my horror the bag was sitting on the floor next to the box they were suppose to be in. The same clerk who promised me she would do the job was the one working this evening. She had no apology and acted like it was no big deal. EXCUSE ME? In this world of constant fear of identity theft, come on young lady, get a grip on the world we live in. I will never use their shredding service again and I will avoid the store when possible. read more

I was pleasantly surprised at the exceptional customer service I was provided by the store manager, Ken. I was looking to purchase a pre-paid smartphone for my son for school. Unfortunately the Samsung I was looking to purchase was sold out. Ken very kindly offered to pick one up at a neighboring store (Roseville), that he planned going to the following day if it was available there. It was, and he did! Couldn't ask for anything more in terms of customer relations nor a better managerial representative for Staples than Ken was! read more

They have a lot of stuff so I usually go here. But I was looking for a desk lamp (which is "office supplies" in my book) and they discontinued carrying these kind of products. Worse customer service. Young woman working at the copy center is worthless. I came in and wanted to make a copy from my memory stick. A very simple tasks. She would not take it and print it out for me. Instead, she directed me to their copy machines and said I could do it there. Of course, I had no idea of how, the number of steps involved and she refused to do it for me!!! Again, instead she tried to direct me as to how to do it (God, the woman is lazy and should be fired!!) and then said that everyone knew how to do it!! Really? Even old geezers? She repeated this again...I called her on it and told her that was a lie! She still refused to help. I mean, what are they paying this young entitled woman for??? She won't even help a customer. I talked to manager who listened but said nothing. Worthless. I have had problems before at this Staples....they either can not train their workers or the people they hire are a lazy as many millennials are nowadays. Never again will I go there. There are many other places where I can get better, faster service with a smile. Pathetic. read more

I went into Staples this morning to buy a laptop. The first employee directed me to the tech support. The guy in tech support said unless it was quick he could not help me. The woman at the cash desk asked one of her colleagues to help me. This man declined and told her to phone for someone else. After waiting twenty minutes I left the store empty handed - this was for an item listed in their weekly deals. I gave them one star because it's not possible to score lower than that. I know this is a standard business supply store and most would never think to review but when a clerk goes above and beyond, worth the mention and recognition. We went in to return a package by way of UPS and turns out they are a UPS outlet not an actual store and were not set up to do the return. It was a little complicated as Amazon had emailed return label and i was supposed to have them scan my smart phone, they don't have actual UPS scanner. The clerk, Madison was amazing, found a way to make it happen, right before closing time during holiday season. And smiling and pleasant the entire time when I'm sure she just wanted to get out of there. Thank you Madison. read more

I am getting married in December and after dealing with some other print companies that were NO help I came to Staples. Becky and Ashley went above and beyond. My invitations were and odd size so they had to take extra time to help me find envelopes and then print them correctly. They came out perfect!! I am so grateful that I went to Staples print center. I went in to this store yesterday to buy a laptop. The laptop area was missing half the shelf tags, plus had many empty spots. After wandering up & down, pointedly examining the available merchandise, still I was not approached by a single staffer. I could hear laughter and chatter - the staff were all hanging out in the tech support corner having a good ol' time! There was one, single, lonely cashier on the floor, so I approached her. I attempted to explain my dilemma, she was sympathetic but made no effort whatsoever to assist, and finally suggested I come back later in the week, when they 'might' have a salesperson! Finding everything was fine, even though it took an HOUR to find everything with NO HELP! That store is very unorganized, and I was in a hurry because I had paperwork to do. I also had to fax some things out to my mother's business in Santa Barbara. There was only one employee there at copy center, can't remember her name, but she went above and beyond to help me get out of here quicker. And when I was done with that I went to check out with all my stuff (this is when the story gets worse), and there was only one kid, I believe his name was Nick, at the register. The lines were long and he kept calling for help. This kid was overwhelmed. 5 minutes later Amanda comes out of the back and she's telling Nick that he needs to call people up when Nick was doing that the whole time. Amanda checks me out and I say something about it, but she doesn't care, so I just stay quiet. As I was leaving she quietly says to "fuck off" and she doesn't have time for this. I've been a businessman for 15 years, if Staples in Grass Valley is going to keep this game up, it really needs to close shop. Pathetic! read more

I use the print shop for my small business' needs and it is very hit or miss. I used to love the service and would recommend it to other small business owners as economical and high quality but I have had a few pretty frustrating encounters lately. I don't want to name names but there is one particular girl in the print center who you can tell doesn't care at all about what she is doing. A few months ago, I went in to get labels printed and I brought the blank labels that I purchased, a flash drive with the corresponding Avery templates and detailed written instructions . She called me that they were ready and when I picked them up she must have not even looked at them because she had printed the wrong file on the wrong size labels so it wasn't even close to lining up. I told her this and she said that she'd redo them (using more of the expensive label paper that I had already bought) and she promised that she wouldn't call me until they were perfect. I get a call and she did the exact same thing where the wrong file is printed on the wrong size. When I picked them up I believe his name was Eli was working and he really tried to help me and he had no problem figuring out how to print them on the right size. I was there for an hour because he was busy but I was not going to leave again and come back to them wrong again. He was very nice and helpful but it was much more of an ordeal than it should have been. I went in yesterday and the same girl was there and there was an issue with one of my pages that I had printed smudging but not the other two. She blamed the paper and only then admitted that it had jammed so I suggested that she maybe print one page at a time. Meanwhile, my mom had to run to Ben Franklin to buy another paper because that one had been ruined. I just think that someone needs to explain to her that whether someone comes in for a business or personal reason, they are there for it to be done correctly and look professionally so her attitude that it's fine enough doesn't work. I can't sell something to someone with a smudged or half printed, cut off label. read more

Went to staples to get three business card items laminated. There was not a laminator for the public to use that I could find, so I waited for the girl behind the service counter to acknowledge me. She was waiting on a man that needed help modifying photos. I waited 10 minutes before interrupting them to ask if there was a laminator I could use. She said no--that's it just no. I found a different employee and asked if he could call someone to help me. He said all were at lunch or in other areas. There were seriously only 3-4 shoppers in the entire store. When I walked back to the service counter, the man was behind the counter with the girl working on the man's photos. He finally said for her to help me. She walked over, and I told her I would like 3 cards laminated. She took the cards and said it would be several days, because she was backlogged with work. I laughed and said no thank you. I went home and bought a laminator on amazon for $16. Received it the next day and laminated my on cards. Don't need you Staples, and now I have my own. read more

Really weird store .. are all the workers related? They seem uniformly clueless. Somehow there's a twilight zone feel about this place and it's very difficult to get help on the floor. Stunned by the rude service received today by young girl at check-out.The girl rang up a package of file drawers that I grabbed due to them being on sale. She rang them up stated the price which was not the sale price so I questioned it and said there was a sign on the shelf. A look of disgust crossed her face and she asked me if she had to go check. Well yes I replied. A woman had just walked up behind me and she apologized to her indicating she was doing a price check. It was not what she said then but the way she said it. Definite attitude. After she walked off I mentioned to the woman that it was a $10 difference and she seemed to understand. On the girls return with the said sale notice in her hand, she said in a disgusted tone again that the offer expired yesterday and pointed to some minute lettering in the corner of the quite large sign. Well I was supposed to squint to check that out I guess. So that happens, and normally a decent sales person would apologize, and tell me they were short handed or something. I said I would not take them and handed them across the counter. I asked her to check the price on the on sale USB drive to make sure that offer had not expired either because at this point I was ready to walk out. Another snide remark from the cashier. I really only went in for 1099's but had a coupon, but I do regret not asking for the manager at the time, but only did not to save the people behind me. I certainly will NEVER shop at this store again. I mentioned I would shop online in future and she told me to go ahead. I work in a customer service business and I am lucky that the people who work for me don't have the kind of attitude she had. Cannot imagine this store staying open much longer. Hard to find someone to ask (the ones I did were helpful), but if she is an indication of the cashiers that they have working, does not bode well. read more
