There needs to be more help!!! What help is present should be helping each other! Disgusting to see long lines with only one person working hard. Two other employees were also present in the store, acting like they were busy and did not notice long line. One person actually working sent two people to those two employees acting like they were working, and amazingly one of those two actually did help the two customers sent over to them. A phone call kept being repeated over the loud speaker with neither of those two people caring to answer the phone. They probably felt it was below them and the one person working hard should be answering the phone, too. Staples in New Milford, CT Had two Amazon Returns; attendant (Susan) scanned one item and turn to other customer at cash register 3 feet away and started to assist her. That customer said, "Would you like to finished with him (pointing to me)? and Susan did not even respond. She started a conversation with the customer at the register about "dead batteries" and simply ignored completing the second item I needed to have scanned. When I interrupted and asked, "Which customer are you attending to?" she turned to me and said, "Our 'policy' is to 'multi-task" from one customer to another"; however, she hadn't completed my transaction. She then reiterated, "That's the company's policy." I then asked her if she is required to "multi-task to all the stations when she hadn't completed my transaction?" She dismissively said, "Call Jeff Bezo." She then went on a rant of how busy she is and all the things she has to balance and work and saying repeatedly with wailing arms that this is our policy of multi-tasking. I told her that as a customer walking in the store looking to conduct a simple return transaction, I am not concerned about how busy the policy makes you. From my vantage point, I'm just looking to be efficient with my time and hope that I encounter reasonable customer service as I patronize your business. I later complained to Scott McNamara (General Manager) regarding Susan's lack of "quality customer service." He agreed that it was rude of his employee (Susan) to sarcastically tell me "Call Jeff Bezo." He offered an excuse that "We are short on staff and it 's been a long day." This justifies and minimizes individual responsibility. It implies that next time they are so "busy" and "short on staff" his employees have the green light to be rude, disrespectful, and dismissive. When I was in the store there were about five people I had noticed and the store did not seemed crowed. Regardless of customer traffic the disrespectful "service" by Susan was certainly not called for. I will be filing an official complaint to the Corporate Office Customer Complaints Department. At the best, the next time a customer comes in during "short on staff" day, Susan, and other staff members will pause and think prior to being so disrespectful. read more

We waited for no one, no one came to help us. There was a line for a long time without any real efforts from the rest of the staff to get their printer department to help us. We ended up leaving. Absolutely pathetic service! Just went into pick up my printing order which was promised to be done by 2:00pm yesterday and still wasn't done. No one was available in the printing department at 11:15 on a Saturday to fill my order. There was signage on the door and website which states that they sell stamps. "Alright, well can I at least get change for this $40" "ok let me call a manager" the manager took 20 minutes to arrive and then told me they were unable to give me change. "Can I get my passport photo printed?" "We can print your photo but we don't size them to regulation. If you send us the photo as a 4x6 it's going to print 4x6 and the passport agency won't accept them. So say you just print "photos" then, not passport photos. Auburn location printed them just fine. Absolutely bonkers. Just skip gv staples and go to the secondary location you're going to end up at anyway. read more

What a JOKE! More than half the backpacks didn't have pricing on them or were listed anywhere. Nor did a lot of the school notebooks and other school supplies. Some places it said $.35- to $3.00. Like what? No pricing on the packaging? And when they did list prices, most of it was outrageous! Aside from a couple of things discounted pricing was way over were you could get this stuff else where. Also, it looks dirty. The store employees seem so unhappy and unwelcoming and sort of rude answering questions while they're facing away from you, it's sad that they haven't been mentored correctly on what good customer service is. Did not greet people as they came in. Nobody was smiling, even after you say good morning to them. On top of that they didn't have any name tags on management should take note you need to mentor your employees not monitor them and give some positive feedback. This is centrally located off of Brunswick in Grass Valley. Shopping center also has CVS and grocery outlet (and many other businesses). Nice and organized store! read more

I went in to make copies of a resume for an upcoming interview. I stood there trying to use a printer for 5 minutes before asking a sales associate for help. I asked what was wrong with the printer end he said it's not working. There was no signs to indicate this. When I finally got help, All my prints came out half the size. I went over to house of prints and the gentlemen there helped me. Half the price and I was out the four in 5 minutes. Thank you House of prints. read more

Went in to make copies. Had a question. Stood at the counter with three employees busy about whatever business they were up to. Didn't acknowledge my presence until I asked if someone could assist me. "I'll be there in a minute," one of the employees said. She told me to use the copiers or leave the work for them and it would be ready tomorrow. I followed the instructions on the copier to download a file from my phone to be copied. I received a an email message that Staples blocked my file??? I asked the man behind the counter what happened and he said, "an obvious user error." The Grass Valley Public Library turned out to be a great alternative to Staples to receive assistance to make 3 copies. read more

This place was 10 minutes from our rental and the SO had forgot a cable at home. Thankfully this location opens at 8 AM so I was able to go in and was immediately assisted by the floor manager. Totally lucked out- I got the last cable. I was in and out faster than it took me to drive there. I came to simply drop off that package and they had two employees working in the store and one employee was immersed in a print job and could not leave her computer and she was the only one available to do as simple package drop off. If they are going to have this AETC ice and other print job options available at Staples, they should have it either automated or staffed. read more

Had a recent good experience with their copy/print department. The staff went above and beyond to make my order and answer questions I had about their shipping policy. The cashiers are friendly as well. My biggest complaint is I cannot find someone to help me in their business machines section or on the sales floor. The turnover rate seems pretty high but they usually have what you need in a pinch. I do feel somewhat guilty relying on Staples over the smaller, locally-owned, stationery stores. The front of the store/outside has looked better. I've noticed that lately people are leaving their garbage right on the sidewalk near the entrance. read more

I'm unsure how to write this review. The cashiers at the front have always been great for just checking out. And they'll take clearance items and mark them down even more for you. But maybe a that's because no one bothered to put the clearance price on them or in the computer to begin with. But their print and copy area is terrible. I've been here 4 times in the last week and they're always too busy to help anyone standing in line. If you've got that many projects, hire someone to run the register. I started writing this review after I'd been in line for 15 minutes and finished it before anyone helped me (all I need to do is pick something up and pay for it). Not only that, one of the gals decided to come to the register and help someone, I'm clearly in a line and next to be helped and she goes to help a gal that came in after me that was standing over by the shipping counter. I ordered a small expensive printer for my laptop and paid for it. Went back two weeks later....no one can find it anywhere I'm their for an hour at least. Waiting for my printer..finnaly I realized NO ONE WAS STILL LOOKING FOR IT AND NO ONE CAME TO tell me the status of my purchace....they just blew me off and passed me over to the manager so she was looking for it , but she was in the break room with all the others... they came out and said I would have to keep waiting....I'm like what ? Horrible customer service. Went to have some cardstock printed on. Unbelievably rude woman who "helped" us in the printing area. Extremely condescending and belittling. Refused to print on our cardstock. Sent us to get different cardstock and then refused to print on that as well. She went over to her co-worker and mockingly repeated what we said, only for them to both roll their eyes and laugh. You should not be in customer service if you're going to treat people like dirt. Staples in Grass Valley, California used to be a very nice store. However over the years, the quality and services have declined. The 'new' version lacks variety and selection of merchandise. The copy center is often overwhelmed and cannot complete orders in a timely manner. Now, the tech service department is only open for 4 hours on Friday. Honestly, are you joking? Ridiculous! What a way to push the locals away from local businesses. I'm going be getting my business needs met in Auburn or Roseville! read more

On a possitive note the three employees I talked to did their best to help me, I was impressed with their efforts. But if the complany does not have it, it is not their fault. I am a regular person/consumer, not a large or small business owner, so I speak from that perspective. I went in with my dad who was looking for a 2 drawer file cabinet (note the cheapest they had was $70). Within a few minutes of browsing a very nice woman came over and asked me if there was anything she could help me with. She told me about a deal they have for school supplies. Then after she had helped me, I heard her off asking someone else if they needed help. Its nice not to be harassed by sales people but at the same time to have people offering to help in case you need it. They have a free staples shopper card which you should get if you shop here often at all; it has some benefits in terms of discounts/specials. You can also bring your used printer cartridges in for financial benefits (not an expert on what though). read more

I made sure to call first to make sure they could laminate an 11x14 print and yes they said they could. I arrived and the young lady turned on the machine to warm it up. She was alone in the dept. And was obviously overwhelmed with calls and customers. After 20 minutes she started trying to do the work to no success. It was obvious she didn't know the equipment and called for help. The man the tried to help wasn't trained either and after they had melted plastic all bunched up I decided waiting another hour was going to be pointless. She apologized but I told her it wasn't her fault, she just wasn't trained properly. As I left I made a comment to Debra, the person that was acting as a lead or asst. Manager they had a training issue they needed to deal with, she said "maybe you should try doing it yourself". Needless to say,, I didn't expect that from a person of authority.. I run a business in town and we shop here often. After hearing her comments I doubt I'll ever set foot in that store again. Very bad service! read more

There were a few of us in line, she had tons to do and questions being thrown at her all at the same time, I was feeling overwhelmed for her.
