If you are going there for anything other than simple office products.... STAY AWAY!!! First let me qualify, I have been going to Staples - specifically in Newport Beach since they first opened there and loved the Manager Dave (who has since retired). I bought paper, ink, toner, paper products, all other office supplies, office furniture and even computers from them. Even when Amazon was getting big, I still went there personally to buy. Fast forward to December 2020 when I somehow got a virus on my hard drive (on a computer previously purchases at Staples NB). I called this location as it is closest to me and was told to bring it in that they could most likely repair it but would need to check it out first. Like most people, I failed to back up my computer so everything that I was working on past and present looked to me like it was lost - or I would need to pay a data recovery specialist a lot of money to get it all back. The tech at Staples (I forgot his name) took it in and said he would get back o me the next day. The next day rolled around and he said he was unable to access anything on my hard drive, but if I bought a new computer from him that he would have all the data transferred and set up. We discussed prices and settled on one that he had on special. WTF, it was a while since I had a new computer anyway. He wanted me to buy an extended warranty, virus protection, etc which added to the price and he would discount them. I told him I was not interested in that, just the computer, as I would get my own anti virus programs for a lot less than he was asking for. He said ok and that the new computer would be ready the next day and he would contact me to pick it up and pay. Late the next afternoon, I called and asked for the tech. I was told that he was not it today and that he had tried to recover anything from my hard drive but could not find anything. I said to cancel my new computer then. I was devastated as I had a lot of current work that I desperately needed. I went in to pick up my old computer and asked the manager if she thought any data could be recovered or what I should do. She said they tried several times and that basically I was screwed. When I got home that night I called a friend I knew who works on computers. He said bring it over and lets take a look. I went to his house and 20 minutes later he has ALL MY DATA running on another computer that he used to clone my hard drive. I since bought a new computer (NOT FROM STAPLES) and he transferred everything for me.... as a favor! MY ADVICE: Again, if you need anything more than a pencil or paper from staples, shop Amazon as their prices are cheaper and you don't have to leave your comfortable place, and if you need any computer work - STAY THE F AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!! read more

I went in last minute to print some flyers for my school club and was sad to hear that they were backed up on orders and my flyers wouldn't be ready until the afternoon. After calling around to other print shops, I realized it would take me much too long to go there and get the job done before I had to be at school. When I called to get it corrected I was basically told I was being pawned off to the next person. Then I was "disconnected." I called back and waited awhile until I finally reached a person. I looked everywhere online to find posters and banners, all from businesses that specialize in them. Each time, either the templates were cheesy and plain or it was impossible to adjust the text and graphics. Even the online chat, the sales people were either not helpful or it gave me a message that said no one was available!! I was clearly frustrated around the 5th company or so. I had to get office supplies and headed to Staples and realized that they offered banners and posters. I went online and found it soo easy to do everything.. and had modern and cool designs! I'm super picky when it comes to design so was happy when they offered more updated and chic designs. If you upload before 2:00, they offer same day pick up by 8:30. However each time, it look less than 3 hours. Their online customer service was superb as well. I know this is about this store location in particular but had to complement Staples in general. However, each time I went into this store, people were helpful and actually offered to help before I asked. Each time people went out of their way to see if I needed anything. That is hard to find in general. Not sure why al the low stars but it seems like old reviews from a year ago. Perhaps the management changed, but whatever they're doing, keep it up. I had to run into this Staples for a couple things the other day. This store is not close to home, but the store close to home has really bad customer service. I was kind of expecting the same here, but I was pleasantly surprised that the line was not long and the cashier actually smiled and wished me a nice day. It's an office supply store, so nothing really sexy here (unless you find office supplies to be sexy). Inventory seemed decent. I found what I needed and got out quickly. This is the second time I've been to a Staples in the past few months and I am just amazed at their customer service. The staff is really polite and helpful and it just makes my shopping excursion so much more pleasant. I hate shopping for office supplies and hate even more going into an office supplies store searching for stuff I need. I am not a huge fan of Office Depot and although I used to think that all of these stores were the same, well, they are to a certain degree. They sell similar stuff. I had a poster to print that was larger than my home unit could handle. I went to Staples...same day charge is an extra $4? Why would I want it in 2 days, make 2 trips? This is Sunday, no one in the store. Come back in an hour or so. I asked why, well there are other jobs ahead of you and there is set up time. If you're expecting to pick up your same-day copy & print service item on THE SAME DAY (as confirmed in your email from Staples) don't expect it to be ready until the NEXT DAY. Apparently that's this store's policy. Same day service = order gets submitted the same day but ready the next day. I showed them my email with the time & date. She said I'm wrong, showed me her own printout that says the next day's time and date. Also that their printer is packed at the moment so she can't even fulfill it right now anyway. This is not the staff's fault, but Staples in general. If you're not able to upload your file to be printed through their website, they will not let you email it to the store, will not accept a link to the file, and if you bring in an external drive that is password protected, they will not allow you to use it even if it's yours and you know the password. In other words, they make the process of going from online customer to in-store customer more complicated than it needs to be. Luckily, the staff in store was helpful and the finished product turned out fine. They just REALLY need to refine the whole printing process. read more

I uploaded an invitation online to be printed in 4 hours. I called the store to double check if they were ready and I was hung up on twice or left on hold and forgotten about. When I did get through the woman told me it would be ready in 30 mins. Then I went to pick up my invitations, there was a white boarder around the edges and they were printed on glossy paper when I wanted matte. They woman handed me the invitations, without a bag and no envelops which were included with the purchase. Also note, there was probably one other customer in the store and I saw at least 4 employees, two of which were working in their copy and printing area. The customer service was horrible considering the amount of employees vs customers. All in all I would never go back. If I didn't need these in a hurry I would have stuck with my go to printer which is vista print. read more

CONSUMERS BEWARE! Anyone making anything other than a small purchase do so elsewhere. Until this store finds better staffing options, customer service and more accessible resources for store policies. It posts too much of a risk to the consumer. My experience is consistent, if not worse, than many other reviews posted. I have visited this location several different times for different products and have found the staff to be poorly informed regarding their stock, less than helpful and at times extremely unprofessional. Unfortunately, that can just be poor staffing etc. so I have continued to shop at this location in the hopes of it improving with time. The item must be in stock and available for purchase at that price from an authorized U.S. reseller" ...etc form more see online policy) I also had a coupon from Staples.com for the item I was purchasing that had the restrictions as follows: "While supplies last. Limit one coupon per customer. Each item purchased can only be discounted by one coupon, applied by cashier in order received and prior to tax. Coupon not valid if purchased or sold and must be surrendered" Staples store policy displayed in the store also states: "When conducting a price match, we'll deduct any available Staples coupons, rebates ( instant, easy, or mail in) and manufactures rebates from the Staples price to arrive at a net price. The store associate Alex B. was very rude and unprofessional and, I felt, put his employer at great risk. When I asked for him to contact his corporate office to verify the information that he was giving me that was contrary to written policy posted in the store he said " I don't have to". When I again very nicely requested that they be contacted he repeated " I won't" several times like a small toddler. I then looked at the associate and said "So your store can't contact a corporate office for verification?" and he told the other associate "Don't talk to her, don't say anything". So not only was this employee telling associates not to help me in the store but he continued to state that the store policy was a "typographical error" and he would not honor it . The best he could do is "price match but they can not price match and allow a coupon." So I then asked about a the paper towels that were sitting nearby. I said " If I find the paper towels online at Staples.com for less and I have a coupon for them from Staples.com can I use them?" He said "Yes, you can do that, but not on the paper, I can't sell you the paper." At this point I could see that the store associate Alex B. was getting more adamant about specifically not selling this product to me so I said that was okay but I would want to take down some information for a report to send to the corporate office regarding our conversation. He continued to make sarcastic remarks that obviously aren't even worth mentioning . He stood behind everything that I've quoted in this review. I can definitely see a very large liability for Staples having such "ill-informed" and unprofessional employee like the one I dealt with. Anyways, I think it's important for consumers to speak up because corporations, especially large ones, need to know what is going on in their stores. This is one of the worst Staples I've ever been into. Apparently customer service is not one of their priorities. I have never been satisfied coming to this particular Staples, ever. Things I need is always the toughest place to find. The worse of this Staples is how they treat their customers. Every single one of the staff always has a grumpy face or gives you the feeling that they don't want to help you with the exception of around 3 staff members. None have ever welcomed me into their store, except for those 3, and none have ever offered me to help. The only one time I asked them for help, the sales associate or manager, who I actually asked, but I could not tell because she had a sales associate t-shirt on, but answered when I asked for manager, did nothing to help me find a laptop. She looked like she didn't want to help me at all, and when another co-worker came, she quickly said out-loud to him, "THANK GOD YOU'RE HERE THERE'S SO MUCH WORK TO DO!" This was in the early morning where Staples had just opened, and there was no one in the store. Regardless whether there was a lot to do in the back-room, she clearly did not want to be helping me at all, so I quickly did my return of my defective laptop and left as soon as I could. Avoid this like the plague if you can. The Staples in Newport on McArthur is much more friendlier and is all about customer service and giving you the best experience they can. read more

Today I called the store in a panic at 8am because I had no business cards to pass out at a large event that I was sponsoring (I just switched companies and they were supposed to have come in yesterday). I love the customer service. Once you enter the store's doors, the staff greets you with a "welcome to staples! =)" Also, because this store is in a remote location and kinda hidden, you can buy the "super sale" items (the freebies due to rebates or rewards) that usually run out at other Staples stores. There are also less customers here compared to the other Staples stores that I usually go to (Alhambra/Monterey Park) area, which means more items are in stock! read more
