Came in today for the first time to pick up a print order. The front lady acknowledged me as she helped another customer who was placing a larger order. I waited a good while before deciding to grab an item and then come back to wait in line. Meanwhile, the store had only two other costumers who were not being helped and 5 employees roaming around, none of which came over to ask if I needed assistance. After grabbing my item and waiting in line again, the front lady asked if I had a pickup order, asking the customer if it would be okay to check me out really quick. It wasn't until that customer was waiting, did someone immediately come over and ask that person if they had been helped and proceeded to finish their request. I then went in the checkout line to purchase stamps. Once again, waiting in line behind someone being helped and not one of the other employees came to help me for some time. I went in today and got help right away from sale associates along with help from the assistant manager and the general manager of the store. They worked super hard on finding me what I needed and I was out of there quickly. Getting ready for the school year I needed to get more supplies for my classroom and they have the best deals and by far the best customer service compared to other office supply stores. I like this location as it is close to my work and parking is never a problem. I have purchased a great desk chair at a killer price and the salesperson helped me out to my car. The people that work here have always been helpful (when you can find someone) but the store is well stocked and easy to navigate. It is in parking lot where Panda Express is located. read more

Stood in line for 20 minutes before just leaving our items near the register and leaving. The copy/printing center service is terrible. Change these employees! They're texting or talking smack about customers as they're "helping." So unprofessional. Service is so slow and unreliable. Asked for an oversize print but she secretly printed it 11x17. Paper is super thin and not worth it. You're better off at Officemax or any other print shop that's not in a chain. read more

The price was even better so I ask to hold what they have in stock for me and I leave work to come get it. This Staples is kind of in a bad location. It's overshadowed by the Sam's Club and is kind of behind the District... at least I think this is the one I'm reviewing. The service was excellent. Life has a funny way of making you think that people might have finally gotten it together. And by people, I mean office-supply stores. And while "office-supply stores" as a term would typically be aimed at any store of that variety, I want to talk about this Staples in particular. (Gave two stars instead of 1 cause it looked clean) First, this store has an incredible opportunity for any retail-store-experience specialists out there. The customer experience is one of frequent disappointment and frustration, and frustration about being frustrated because "fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me" and Staples does a lot of fool-me-twices. This review comes on the heels of a situation where I stood inside this Staples for 20 min waiting for my Staples brand pens to come out from the storage area. Background: My boss needs pens, and only Staples Strata pens will do. No problem I say to him. But it is a problem. Because naturally, Staples doesn't actually carry said pens in-store because it would make no sense to have one's own brand on-hand. So then you order the pens online and get them shipped to a store, because they are pens and only cost $10 and shipping directly to you would be an extra $9.95 while shipping to a store is free. So then you drive to the store to buy their name-brand pens that were shipped there. But you didn't get the confirm email from Staples that the pens were ready to pick up. So you make a second trip the next day after getting the confirm email. And somehow you wait for that 20 min for someone to bring out Staples-brand pens from the back. And it's your lunch break, so that's cool too. And you tell someone that, and there is a momentary flicker of understanding - oh, I need to help her faster - but it wanes. During this time, you notice the issues other customers are having. One looks at a Staples' rep and simply says, "I just want to buy an iPad." His looked seemed to say - "How can I simply give you my money and get out of here? You're making it hard." It's a supply chain/logistics nightmare - welcome. If you're lucky, you'll get some attitude from the employees who oversee the store from that customer-service kiosk of sorts. Long story short, I finally got my pens - after a two-day ordeal - and was stressed enough that I ended up purchasing a Coke and a gourmet lollipop too. Perhaps this is an up-sell strategy. Conclusion: I recommend knowing you will be disappointed before you go here and also that it will take 2x longer than you expect, and then the experience will fit your expectations. read more

Staples really is the one stop go to place for office supplies that you can't get at Walmart or don't want to go there to get anything. They have it all for the kids science project to the small business presentation to the college thesis supply. Computers, pens, printers, office supply galore, etc. Really too much to mention, but something you won't find on any shelf is the customer service. Other staples I've been to tend to be overwhelmed, not very knowledgeable, a little pretentious and uninterested. This is not the case here. In the corporate sea that is Irvine you would think they would be the opposite, but they do a good job of caring. Customer Service is excellent, parking is abundant, but now with the Walmart opening across the way I can see that taking a piece of their business. I come here for pens, pens my work won't order or reimburse me for and I've tried. And yes I go through that many pens, a pen a month roughly. I pass by it all the time on my way to Taco Bell, Jersey Mike's, Starbucks, soon to be Walmart, and Panda Express. read more

I admit that I was ready and willing to post a negative review of this store, but after speaking with Matt (the GM) I have completely changed my mind! I had a rare bad experience at this store but after completing the store survey I got a call from Matt who listened to my concerns and invited me back to the store. I went in today and saw Matt and had a great experience. To be fair to the store, it's insane right now because of the back to school period. I wish I can remember his name, but one guy in the printing department stayed on the phone with me for at least an hour to make sure I found a location that carried what I wanted. I had a very complicated request because I needed about 40 large poster isles for a huge event. I was running out of time and couldn't pre-order online. He contacted between 5-10 locations for me, and coordinated the whole thing from ordering to pick up in the other locations. He was excellent at communicating with me and truly epitomized the meaning of customer service. I wish I met him in person or could give him a hug because he made me feel relaxed and comfortable in a very tense situation. I've also been to this store for a few other projects and the guys in the copy/print department are fantastic. I love how knowledgeable and supportive they are. read more

2/25/2016: I'm going to update my comments on this. The store manager Matt phoned me to apologize for this transaction. He repeatedly said he does not condone nor accept this kind of behavior. He indicated he would address the situation and offered his assistance when I was in his store again. He sounded very sincere. This is the singularly WORST experience I've had at any business in the last five years! A little background: My printer at home ran out of ink and I had two job interviews to get to. My bad :( I called the Staples closest to my interview and spoke with the gal at the printing center. She said I had to upload my files and would not give me directions--she told me to contact a customer service number. When I spoke with her I asked her how long it would take to print about 40 pages. I explained I had interviews and needed resumes printed in a rush. She said it just depended on how busy she was but she did not have any jobs waiting. I phoned customer service and they were nice. They gave me the very simple instructions for uploading my files. The girl at the store could have told me what to do in about 30 seconds! Nevertheless, I promptly uploaded my files and paid for the printing job online. I even paid the $5 rush fee. Now the website did tell me it would be a couple of hours until my job was ready. But having talked to the store staff I felt comfortable placing the order. When I arrived at the store there was one lady ahead of me--she was picking up an order. When it was my turn the girl in the printing center said she was too busy to do my job right now--I could pick it up in a half hour. I looked around--there was no one else waiting. All she had to do was open four files (totaling 8 pages) and print five copies. This wasn't exactly rocket science. Nope, she wouldn't help me out! I told her the situation asked her if she could help me out of a bind. She said I just sent the order in and she was too busy and I'd have to wait. Now it wasn't the wait that's generating this review--it was her attitude when I phoned and her attitude when I went to the store. In addition to being short she went out of her to NOT be helpful. I've never experienced this type of response in a retail establishment! I get that people have bad days but this was just over the top. I had to leave without the copies to get to my interview on time. On the way I saw an Office Depot. I walked in off the street and explained my plight. They were so nice and they immediately jumped on my order to help me out. I really appreciated the break! read more

Spectacular service in printing department. I needed some postcards for an unexpected business meeting at 7 in the morning. It was 5:00 pm when I found out. I called and asked if it was at all possible for me to design a postcard online and have it printed before they closed. (This particlar store closed at 7:00 pm). "If you can get that file to me right away, I think we can do it." I took some time picking out just the right template and typed in my information. I called to ask if "Kristin" (I believe that was her name) had received it. "Yes, I just got it." I jumped in my car, got on the freeway, and made it there at 6:45. The cards were ready and they are BEAUTIFUL and extremely professional looking. I'll have much more confidence going into this breakfast business meeting. I had deviated from my usual Amazon purchases and tried Staples (brick and mortar) store. I was looking for a desk and was directed to desks online per the salesperson. One had caught my interest as design, color and size, (I thought). So I ordered it. It was delivered promptly to my door in a box. My friend expertly assembled it and it all appeared like quality materials. But quickly noticed it was a massive desk! I was petrified it was not going to fit in my small office. Because I had a sofa bed for guests in there I had to open it up, and sure enough there were only 2 inches of space between the furniture. I quickly called the online customer service and they started my return. I informed them that it had been assembled and could not go back into the box. She reassured me that a courier would be there to pick it up, no problem. And the following week the kind and strong courier was there to pick it up as promised. I am so amazed and thankful for all the courtesy, service and professionalism from this company. read more

The manager (bill) has horrible customer service skills. I will never get copies at this location again. Tried to charge me $99 for a print job that should have been $20. Of course I lost it when they rang me up. I refused to pay and had to walk out. He had the nerve to argue with me when I approached him. If he told me in the first place chkosing color with double sided was that much I would have said do blaxk and white. But the way it was all handled was totaly unproffesional. I'm giving this rating for the horrible printing service. How do these people not know what the difference between "dull" and "shiny" is? I asked them to print stuff out on dull laser paper, I'm sure every other printing service I've been to elsewhere all know the difference. Turns out "dull" is called "regular" here, but the paper was so flimsy that it was not worth the price. I have to drive to Fedex or back to my art school to get some decent printing done by myself. Also, these employees are very rude and make fun of you if you're Asian. When they're the ones who don't understand the difference between the types of paper haha. read more

Who does not love Staples? I love looking at school and office supplies, and if I had the money, buying them. I love how the products here are lined up the way that you won't get confused even if it's such a huge place. The staff are also friendly and they always had items on sale. I also saw this bin for plastic bags for recycling - that's a good way to treat the environment. There are not too many customers so it's a good place to just relax and look around. read more

While I can't vouch for the repair center or the rest of the store, I can give kudos to the photo and copy center. I had recently lost a very close relative of mine and I was tasked with getting a few enlarged photographs for the memorial service. The lady there was very knowledgeable and helped my find the right sizes since I had absolutely no previous experience. It turns out that I had to change my order 3 times due to a particular indecisive family member and it was a fiasco. The sales associate was extremely patient with me and not once did I get a hint of frustration from her. I don not use photo and copy services much but I will use this location when I do. Staples sold bad chair and will do nothing about it... I encourage all buyers to LOOK at the plastic where the wheels go in the base 5 slots - they saved 30 cents worth of plastic and made it a Honey Comb type wheel holder. The wheels snap off by breaking through the spoked holder. UNSAFE Design.TO make matters worse my 25 year relationship with Staples is now over as they suggested I should have purchased insurance and it was not their problem. Manager gave me the number for what he said was "Furniture Customer Service" 866-826-6622 Sorry boss, they don't do customer service, and in fact said they were not really STAPLES but a separate entity and they were not responsible. SO to all of Staples Management - let me say this, you did a great job of passing the buck and you saved the store Maybe $70 though I am sure the MFG would have taken the shoddy product back. AND you have lost a customer that has purchasing influence in the area of $3K TO $4K -Per year, happens to be in the Social Media Business and hates to be treated like a chump. Bottom line -you sold me a piece of crap that you should have stood behind and you did not. Have you heard of the internet? Wow! I called in advance to find out if the item I was looking for was in stock; I was told it was. I went in person this morning and discovered they did not have the item. The clerk helping me could not find it in the Staples system (even with the item number on the stock tag). After waiting for way too long, I decided to leave. I asked if I called back with the item information, would they be able to order for me and I could pick it up...I was told I could. I went to the parking lot, used Google, found the item and called back. I spoke with Matt (manager) and he was reluctant (almost refusing to connect me) about even letting me talk to the customer service department. I ended my call and called back later - this time I was told "under no circumstances could they order the item for me". She essentially refused to help me and insinuated that I had imagined my in-person experience earlier today, where I was told in person by their clerk I could order through them. In total exasperation, I called the 800 number. I was fortunate to speak with a VERY KNOWLEDGABLE person who actually wanted to help. Go figure. She found the item I was looking for, took my order and payment, and arranged for it to be delivered to the store tomorrow. All this was accomplished in a matter of 5-7 minutes AND she gave me a $5 coupon for my inconvenience. My advice, use the 800 number and pick it up - going in is a waste of time, energy and emotional well being. Or use Amazon Prime....so much easier!!!!! read more

I typically go to this staples out of pure convenience for copying and printing but each visit I get a rude person with no personality. The other employees are nice, I always just seem to have issues with the copy center. I will drive a little farther next time for better businesses who want my business. read more
