If you feel like losing all holiday spirit and/or faith in humanity have something printed at the union sq staples! I've never ever felt the need to write a bad review of something until now, so congrats team, you guys truly stink at doing your job.
They have shown me how incredibly inefficiently a relatively easy task can be managed.
In my experience yesterday at 4:10 I went in to pick up a photo that was supposed to be ready by 1pm, I thought I had given them plenty of extra time understanding how the holidays can make things crazy busy. There was only one person ahead of me in line, who was waiting to be helped with the computer that seemed to be having a technical hiccup. I told both the girl working there and the guy in front of me that I was just there to pick up a print already paid for, they guy was ok with me being helped first. There were at least 5 other employees hanging around chatting in the back room, clearly visible, supposedly able to also help me. The girl working there decided to go ahead and ignore me and 'help' the guy first, ok, nbd, he was there before me and first come first serve. I waited patiently for 15 minutes until she finally fetched another employee to help this dude with the computer because she couldn't figure it out.
She finally starts to help me and was rude right off the bat, it was if I was severely inconveniencing her by asking her to get the photo.
She wanders aimlessly in the back while 'looking' for my photo, loudly complaining to other employees that she can't find it, moving as slowly as humanly possible. No one helps her, they make jokes instead.
Someone else finally asks of I have been helped. I say, 'yes, but a bit slowly, and I have to be at work in the next 5 minutes, do you think you can help her find my photo?'
She walks away without another word and does not help the first attendant find the photo.
Turns out- they hadn't finished it yet! At all! First girl walks up and informs me it won't be finished for another 45minutes. I tell her it was supposed to be ready at 1pm. She says it's not ready, it'll be 45. No apology, just hardcore attitude. I needed this print for a photo transfer project for a gift, so I asked my rad boyfriend to swing by and pick it up, he did, because he's awesome, and ALSO had a horrendous experience.
When he went in they couldn't find proof of payment (they are supposed to staple their copy of paid receipt to bag) and insisted that he needed to pay again. They finally discovered it was their fault and let him have the package, but this was after 20 minutes waiting in line (behind 2 people) and 15 minutes or more dealing with a saucy attendant who spent her time treating him like he was some sort of idiot before realizing it had been their mistake all along!
Now, my guy is the sweetest. Everyone loves him and in five years I've never seen him act in a rude manner towards anyone. On top of that we both work in the service industry and have for years, so we are both pretty forgiving when someone is clearly having a rough day, or is super busy, or has other bitchy customers to deal with. This was NOT that. This was a group of humans that seemed to take pride in mocking customers and doing anything but their job. I have very rarely seen this level of incompetence in any area of service industry and can't recall a worse example of teamwork. They were all just awful. I'd happily go out of my way and pay more money to any other branch or company than ever waste time there again. If anyone from corporate reads this you guys have some serious work to do and need a new manager ASAP, I get that you have constant business from NYU kids but this level of customer service is just unacceptable for anyone that has standards. read more
