This staples has the best copy and print shop! The manager Darren is super helpful, he knows exactly what he is doing! Every time I go in he has answered all my questions and done exactly what I have asked with no trouble at all. I am constantly in this Staples and they usually have what I need. One thing that drives my crazy is the overly solicitous staff. The management at Staples must tell the staff to greet and interact with every customer. I hate being yelled at "Hello, welcome to Staples" from across the store...and then every single staff member asks me how am I and do I have any questions. I'm just there to by paper clips and copy paper. I don't need a huge welcome or to be asked if I need help 50 times. I want to get in and get out...fast! It's not a "brand" experience. It's just office supplies. And, why are customers now referred to as "guests"? If I was a guest you wouldn't be charging me for stuff. I am happy with "next" or "can I help you". Come to this location now and then to use print and ship services .. Skyler the young lady in the copy department was very rude and seems lazy...unhelpful unbothered and unconcerned when asked a simple question as to emailing something to print. I've been able to email whatever it is to computer behind the print desk at every location including union square . Asked skyler for the email she looks at me as though I'm speaking another language then proceeds to tell me they don't have a printer and there's no printer after 2pm ! Her attitude was so disgusting like I was bothering her. Hello isn't it your job to help people with copying and print services ?? Very poor customer service.. I go to this Staples due to the close proximity to the L train. I rarely have large printing needs, but when I do, this Staples get my business. I hate it. I hate everything about it. The service is slow. You're lucky to get help from someone because I rarely see anyone on the floor to ask for assistance. Staples is just a hotmess.com. Don't do it to yourself. The line for the copy machine is always long when I go in and the staff likes to constantly chat with each other. For my most recent experience, I had photos printed from the web for in-store pick up, went and got them the next day... half of the photos were cropped/printed wrong, as a majority of the 8x10 photo paper was white. I told the girl that those weren't correct and she didn't seem to understand why. After showing her "why," she begrudgingly reprinted them for me the right way... of course she wanted me to pay for the new prints... haha, no. Regardless, she was pretty helpful and helped me with what I needed. read more

The printing service really dropped the ball today. They usually are my go-to place for posters but today the ones I ordered came out a completely different color than the file I sent. A beautiful brick red background, was instead of ugly brown beige. Why did they not save BOTH our time by proofing their work and compare it to what was ordered? They tried to make me a new set but after waiting for 40 mins just to get the exact same ugly beige poster, I was livid and left. Not only did you take away from my rehearsal time for my show tonight, but threw off the promotions I needed to do. Now I have to take a special trip all the way to Coney Island another day just to go hang these posters, which I will be ordering elsewhere. I'm paying someone to record my act tonight as well too. Had a short deadline on a large number of prints, and the two men in the print area staffing today were so helpful. My two large format scans came out horribly on the self-serve, but the extremely chill dude with the blue beats took them back into the print center and got me beautiful scans to send to my inker. Printing Center here is absolutely horrendous. As I was skipped over, I observed 2 people in front of me with botched print jobs. When it was my turn the easiest answer was "no we don't do that." However, since I ordered the exact same thing a year prior I wasn't convinced and asked to speak to a supervisor. He seemed completely disinterested in finding out more info about what I was looking for and again resorted to a flippant no we don't do that attitude. He asked me to write down my name and contact info and he would have a third party contact me. I felt it was too difficult to order a sticker quite frankly and when I tried to ask him if he even knew what I was talking about his tone escalated to rudeness referring to me as ma'am and lamented about how they were outsourcing I guess these more complex jobs. I just walked out. Raising voice was absolutely unnecessary. read more

My company has been using their print center for years and Every Single Time the order has been wrong, the staff has been unable to help in a timely manner or at all, I end up waiting for over an hour for them to correct their mistakes, and I am never given a discount or so much as an apology. They act as if the fact that their location is so convenient makes up for the fact that none of their copy and print staff know how to copy and print. I should know better. read more

I don't quite understand the negative reviews for a staples. I tend to scrutinize every detail of the service before giving reviews. Last week I went to staples to buy a printer.(my old Epson 1400 broke unexpectedly) I have no prior knowledge on choosing a quality printer or even a reliable brand. Luckily, the salesman worked with me until I was able to make a decision. The workers let me look at of the details of the printers and even showed me the compatible inks for my printer. Even after all of that, the worker assisted me in finding quality resume paper. My experience is far from what I have read on this yelp page. The service, at least in my case was exceptional. The check out was easy and I just felt that with all the negative reviews, this place definitely needs more credit for its fast pace location. read more

Avoid at all costs. This place printed two 11x17 double sided books which had multiple pages with ink smudged and/or lacking toner. They told me the reprint couldn't be done finished until the next day so i declined and used the prints for a meeting. I returned to get the sheets reprinted and they took my books and the files yet again and proceeded to talk among themselves while i waited. I had to go behind the desk and get their attention only to have them hand me back my receipt and give me no time frame of when the books would be complete. I returned 4 weeks later only to find that they had been thrown out. Apparently there is a 30 day grace period that one of the employees actually tried to tell me I should have known because "that is just the standard". She proceeded to tell me that they would reprint it yet again if I could bring the files back in AFTER I told her this was the 3rd time I had returned and I still don't have my prints in hand! I had to argue for my full refund which took 20 mins to process and I left without the items I had been trying to print for the past month. I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

This is a combined rating for different parts of the store. The mailing center gets a ZERO. I repeatedly have had bad and rude service here. Tonight was the worst. I came in this evening and the only person in this department was chatting up a woman. I did not know if she was a customer or not. I took out my mailing for UPS and was told I would have to wait for her. Then the customer alternatively input her information and had further chats with the Staples guy. I complained to the night manager who did not even come over to see what was going o, but just replied that I would have to wait my turn. I left and came back 30 minutes later and this was still going on. I cannot imagine worse customer service. And I am a really good customer of this store. The retail part of the store is much better (4 star) with helpful and knowledgable sales people. But the copy center gets 2 stars.For self service there are an inadequate number of machines that are always breaking down. I would be more than happy to let them do my copying but their turnover is so slow. I cannot leave my confidential business documents overnight. read more

After the Kips Bay Staples closed, this is my Goto for all my school supplies that usually is well stocked. I'm giving a special shout out to their staff Stephanie last week when I was searching for Staple Erasers that happened to be on sale, and she went above and beyond during the Back to School mayhem to search for them. Though they couldn't locate anymore, I'm applauding her for going through all the extra effort, as in regular non busy season I've witnessed other staff member hiding behind poles on 2nd floor in the aisles texting instead of helping others on the floor. The store was very busy. It took me a while to find an employee to help me. They have almost everything locked up behind glass security cases and only a few people to help the amount of customers wandering around the floor. Once I got a hold of a free employee, they were very helpful and nice. If I had to break it down to categories, the customer service, once you get it, is very good and they are knowledgeable. The wait to find someone free is horrible. I don't blame the employees but the management that has too few people staffed. I have a mixed experience with this Staples. read more

The customer service there is little to nothing. They make you feel ignored and completely invisible. I wish I could recall the other person whom I had interacted with but I do remember a young woman name Rachel that was completely dismissive when I just simply said "excuse me" to get her attention because I've been standing there for 5 minutes feeling ignored. A little acknowledgement will help a customer understand that you have seen them and you will be there for them as soon as you are available. I should be giving the ratings of a 1 but I was able to print my document so that extra star was for that. I hope I never have to go there again but until then, those employees need to learn CUSTOMER SERVICE. read more

Okay- after an initial very poor experience with both the store and the technician who repaired my computer, I, at long last, was contacted by Staples regarding my bad review. They spoke to me about what had gone down with a sympathetic ear, agreed that what happened was less than optimal and fully refunded my repair charge. This was much appreciated. They also sent a second technician to check my computer at no charge. Though I ultimately can't give them a big thumbs up for Mac repair, I can testify that a Staples rep responded to my bad review and then did everything possible to rectify the situation with graciousness and efficiency and for that I am grateful. read more

I stood in a non-line (no one else was in front of me) at the print and copy shop for more than twelve minutes and expressed my dissatisfaction with the fact that one employee was taking an elderly woman to use the (employee) restroom, one was "in training" watching another resolve a print issue. When the employee finally turned and looked at me, he said, "don't look at me like that, I am not one of your students!" I went to the manager who told me the xeroxing I needed done for my students would be $43 plus tax. To run off a ten page math test for 25 kids because my school's copy machine is in the fritz. Teachers: avoid staples print and copy shop at all costs. They do not show any customer service, are rude, and the employee did not apologize despite my going to the manager. Incidentally, had I done the printing at staples (if the machine had been working) on my own, it would have been under $30. I'm giving all my future business to the local printers and buying my office supplies online with other vendors. We teachers work too hard to be given condescension in addition to overpriced print costs. Incidentally, I had the printing job done with no problem nearby at the Village Copier print shop for half the price ($22.50). And they were cordial and the job completed in five minutes. I just visited this location yesterday. I had a terrible experience. Let me preface this with the two following statements: I've been working in customer service for 8 years, and I shop at Staples pretty regularly for almost 10 years, and not once have I never had an issue. It's my go-to place for any office/writing supplies. I went to the staples on Broadway near NYU and they didn't have the products I was looking for. I went to this location since it was nearby. When I walked in I was overwhelmed by the number of sales associates. When I approached one, she looked at me and walked away. This happened twice. I finally cornered an associate and asked her for help and she didn't even look me in the eyes and said "Sorry, I'm busy." Fed up, I went upstairs and encountered another associate. I asked him if he could help me locate the items I was looking for. He looked at me with a blank stare and said he didn't know. When I tried to describe the brand (a very popular brand that all Staples carry) he said "oh...maybe over there?" and pointed to an aisle of pens. I managed to find the items on my own, a little annoyed at the lack of help when another associate walked by me and ignored my request for assistance. When I was at the register, two associates were assisting me, one wearing black, one wearing red. The two young ladies were having a conversation and paid no attention to me. One of the women skipped through the prompts on the screen in front of me, passing by the option to enter my phone number or swipe my card for my rewards account. When I spoke up to say that I had a rewards card, the two ladies continued to talk amongst themselves, ignoring me. One of them handed me my receipt without looking at me, still deep in conversation. I was finally fed up and asked to speak to a manager, something I never do. The manager came over and asked me "What did you think the problem was?" which came off totally combative and I knew he would be unreceptive to my response. While I tried to explain why I was unhappy with my visit, the two cashiers that took care of my transaction were standing right next to him, something I found to be totally inappropriate and intimidating. When he asked if any of the associates I encountered were wearing black shirts he said they were "just kids" and I needed to "let it go" as they were training and didn't really know what to do. As I tried to say something, the manager (tall, African American, gap in between his front teeth) ((in case someone who works for Staples reading this knows who this is and can speak to him/his associates to make sure this kind of blatant lack of customer service can be fixed)) told me to have a good night, and shut down the conversation. I'm a small young woman in her mid twenties, I was being very calm and collected during this interaction, and I was incredibly disappointed in how dismissive the manager was. I suggest going to a different location, any other Staples. You'll receive the right kind of customer service anywhere but here. read more

I don't have a printer at home and I needed to print a document after hours and I found out through Yelp Mobile (great ap by the way) that this location's copy and print center is open 24 hours. There used to be a 24 hours Fed Ex kinkos in Chelsea but the staff there let homeless people sleep over (yeah, I feel bad for them but it basically made the place unusable) and so they shut down the 24 hrs service. In the city that never sleeps, a 24 hr place is a big plus. The thing I really like here is that it's very clean too. And the staff was actively walking around doing work - so no homeless people here. The one suggestion I have is that when I called, I asked for the exact address and the young lady said 5-9 Union Square. I had to ask her to repeat it several times because it sounded so strange -- I couldn't understand what she was saying. If she just said 5 Union Square West or 9 Union Square West or even 7 Union Square West, you'd find it but when they say 5-9, it sounds like they are saying 5 ninth St or something like that. I hope more people use this so they keep it 24 hrs. Spread the word! read more

I didn't even want to leave a star. Their rating should have negative stars. PAY ATTENTION!!! Do not purchase anything from Staples. They do not back up their products and warrantees. CAN YOU IMAGINE? And, they have to compete with Best Buy??? No competition. I have schlepped my computer in this heat to their store. No one could help me with the problem, that I didn't have wifi service anymore. I had taken it to my IT person at work, and it is unconscionable, that they threw mw under the bus. And, gave me a phone # for their warrantee co., which doesn't exist any more. My advice to you, is to stay away from Staples! Bad company. read more

The only reason I gave this place 2 stars is because it's open late. Aside from that, here was my experience: I walked into print one single sheet of paper on the color printer. This seems very easy to do and I already had both the USB and emailed version of the paper. I just don't own a color printer. Unfortunately, this seem to be too much for the customer service representative at the print center. She berated me with insulting remarks and made me wish that I just found a different company or a friend with a color printer. She proceeded to assume that I knew all the varieties of different paper stock that they might have. Her poor customer service was so bad that I just turned around and decided to use the printers on my own. After being charge $.70 for one piece of paper, I decided it was best to just leave. I found much nicer customer service at the half-dozen other printer companies within a couple blocks. I probably recommend just going to one of those other places. read more

There are four staff members in the back area talking with each other, ignoring us despite our polite requests for service. I have been here 10 minutes. They are walking by and literally ignoring us.
