I'm back at another Staples again! This Staples store #5308 is located at 800 Third Ave (between 49th Street and 50th Street) in Midtown East. It is a very small brick and mortar store that conceptualized the model of self-service by the customer. It is significantly smaller commercial retail space than the standard Staples. Customers can actually grab printer cartridges; jump drive/ USB flash drives and take it directly to the cashier without having a sales associate walk behind the counter to locate and bring it to the customer. Amid these high priced products are in plastic anti-theft locked device, but I can actually grab the product and read the package before I can make a decision for a purchase. Oh! This Staples location mainly serves as mass production copy and print. It contains minimal retail products. This visit is for a USB flash drive and I found one that has a capacity of 256 GB for an unknown brand Elite Turbo for $39.99. I prefer SanDisk brand which this Staples do not carry. The sales associate offered a choice of 2 year or 7 year protection policy for file loss. I was lured to the 2 year protection policy of $4.99. My workplace is transitioning files from user's personal drive to MS OneDrive, but my files still did not migrate and it has been two weeks causing much anxiety and stress for slowing productivity. To combat the eternal wait for a resolution from IT and the persistent fear for loss of files from non-migration, I took matters to my own hand with a USB flash drive for migration to MS OneDrive. read more

I think that staples has seen better days compared to back in the day when they had so much stuff on display in store , different types of cell phones from different cell phone companies, floppy disk for your computer that cost mucho dineros back in the day , accessories and parts for your typewriter, cash register, tape recorder and many more gadgets that we rarely use anymore as it's ordering all online if you need it now .I stopped at this Manhattan location on 3rd Ave to pick up some paper for my printer and replacement cartridges for my printer and fax(yes I still use a fax machine) and now it's all about iPhone accessories and replacement ink cartridges for your printer and the stuff they once carried in abundance is now gone . I got what I needed and as I walked out I wondered if staples is on borrowed time like Kmart , caldors , the wiz , etc. 4 stars for the memories of the old staples of the past. read more

They have a very efficient process for getting passport photos for many different countries. Cost was 16.99 for two photos. Highly recommend. read more

They could not do my copies as requested and told me they would be ready at a certain time and declined to do them when i went a second time to pick them up! Very disappointing! read more

I wish I got the name of the professional who assisted me. It was cashier 1656697. I went to the store to get assistance with submitting a print job online. What I received instead was dedicated attention with submitting AND completing the print job ! I had several files to print on various paper weights and sizes. This professional uploaded the files, performed the needed adjustments (some manipulation needed to get them to print on US sized paper), and provided a sample print before completing the job. I am so relieved that I decided to go to THIS print store - there are several in the area. read more

I love how I can email staples directly and print copes myself. I don't use flash drives, so it's very convenient. I just walk into Staples, go to one of the printers and enter the automatic code I receive back after emailing what I need to be printed. It doesn't get any easier than that. The only other place I know in New York City that has the same system is FedEx. I use the service all the time, it's so convenient for school and anything else I'm doing. read more

This may be the greatest Staples on earth. Such wonderful service and friendly, attentive employees. We had a huge meeting that required a massive printing job very last minute and the team made this stressful process painless and enjoyable. Adlina, Julie, and Rico in particular were just wonderful. When you arrive inside this copy and print shop, you learn that you can only copy or print 100 pages on your own. If you need to copy or print more than that, they have to process it for you. I needed to copy two documents amounting to about 700 pages in an hour and fifteen minutes. I could have done it myself on the the self-serve copiers no problem, but was told 100 pages max, so I had to give it to them to process. After some hemming and hawing over whether I would be able to have them turn around the job in time, I was charged a rush fee and told to come back in an hour (despite being the first person in the door that morning, the fact that it would take five minutes to do myself, and despite the sign on the store advertising it could turn around copy jobs in an hour). They did a fine job with the copy job and turned it around in an hour, so I give them three stars. However, what is the point of the self-serve copiers being limited to 100 pages? I would much rather have done it myself in five minutes than have to drop it off and come back. This place opens at 7 am on weekdays and is near many hotels, including the Benjamin. My office was missing one item that was necessary for a copy job. There was no time to order online (we're on a deadline), we needed it today. I phoned Staples on Park Avenue and they didn't have it, so I tried this location. I asked for the item specifically and the man I spoke to on the phone said yes, we have this item. I asked for the price and he gave it to me. I said, 'I'm coming right over to pick it up' Ten minutes later, and I'm standing in the store empty handed. The item was in fact not in stock, a fact that would have been glaringly obvious if the man would have walked five feet away to check. Then he looked on his computer and said 'oh, it's only available online, sorry." I have my out-of-it days, but this is beyond incompetence. It's sheer laziness. Not only will the location never get my business, but I kind of regret not asking for a manager. Then again, the manager's probably only available online. read more

Staff not interested in helping, too busy chatting between themselves as main priority before attending to customers. Some teenage employees were literally making out in the store. I guess you need some added excitement like that when you work with stationery all day. read more

Absolutely horrible experiences here. The workers at this store are completely incompetent. Most recently, I placed two different print orders. One of them was such poor quality I refused to take it and asked for a refund. They said it would be refunded. Of course, it wasn't, and no notes were made on the order about a refund. I'm still working on getting that money back. The second was for some reason sent to a different store for printing (it shouldn't have been), and was supposed to be available for pick up by noon the next day. I went to pick up at 2. I was told it's not there and come back in 45 minutes 'it will definitely be there by then'. Go back at 4. Still not ready. Go back at 4:45 to finally pick it up. It was also printed incorrectly. Told me they would refund it. Didn't. Again, no notes. I'm going to have to go to the credit card company to get these charges reversed. Staples corporate just doesn't care, either. They say it was the store that offered the refund, and there are no notes so they won't do anything. Ridiculous, it's ONE company. They need to streamline their many online websites and stores so they actually work together properly. Almost forgot, during all this I also place a one hour pick up order. The guy gave me the wrong product when I picked up, and I didn't notice immediately so I had to go back again. He just laughed about it--no apologies. No, I don't think your inability to do your job is hilarious, it's a waste of my time. read more

Had a great experience with the copy shop. Designed a print online at home in Illustrator and uploaded it onto their print server. They recognized the file and printed it perfectly. Rico was the representative I dealt with and just wanted to take a moment to recognize his helpful attitude and professional demeanor. Highly recommend! read more

Ok, this store is not needed at all. One, the employees are clueless and rude; why even bother working for a place if you do not want the job and have to spread your rudeness to everyone? There is a much better store with better customer service and items available only a few blocks away on Lex. If you need to go to a Staples, I would go to that location instead; it will be worth it. read more

Done several large print jobs with them and never had a problem. Always on time or ahead of schedule and have found it to be a very good deal with our rewards account. For big print jobs I'd recommend stopping in and talking with them - they are very friendly and helpful in person. read more

Zero stars for customer service. The staff was too busy talking among themselves to answer my questions. When I finally got the attention of a staff member, he was curt and rude. I left immediately and I had a great experience at the UPS store on 51st. I would only recommend this location for self printing kiosks. The staff is the worst. read more

What a nice experience! I had bought a printer at another Staples and came in to exchange it. (There was nothing wrong with the printer, as I told the staff.) I was warmly greeted, didn't have to wait (even though the store seemed pretty busy) and best of all, the staff seemed almost excited to be doing the exchange and thanked me for my business and wished me a good day. If that's how I'm treated when I don't buy anything, now how good will it be when I actually do? This Staples is small but it seemed to be packed with pretty useful items (the basics of everything; there were a few printers, tons of computer equipment, pens, etc.). I will be back. read more

Worst place ever to go to print or do anything i came here several times and all the time the manager looks really mean and does not want to help me at all he's always rude and impatient expecting me to know everything he's always in a bad mood then the workers are all rude and careless they don't care if you wait for hours they keep telling you hold on this and that. I love this Staples Copy and Print Center. You can email them the things you want to print. They do a great job if you want to laminate a printed item. Plus the customer service is friendly and reliable! read more

I walked in with my family earlier this week. While my wife and son went upstairs to purchase school supplies I walked over to the laptop section to try out a chromebook. I started using it to search for ice cream shops in the area and then really dive into the machine operating system comparing it to a standard laptop when an employee tells me I can't use it, I have to pay by the minute! I was floored! I walked away but felt like she didn't ask me if she could help me first. I asked a manager if I'm allowed to "play' with the laptops and she said NO! Then I asked how am I supposed to get a feel for the machine and another employee stated they'll show me the specs on a handout! I told them that's ridiculous and stated I'm never coming in that store again and they lost a sale to bestbuy! I can't help but feel that they judged my right from the start not thinking that I'm actually looking to purchase a chromebook. Very disappointing to say the least. read more

I've not had much luck with copy centers in the city, but this Staples is fan-effing-tastic. My company is right across the street and often needs presentation books printed/spiral bound/gold crusted (well, not really gold crusted--yet), often last minute, and we've always had success at this location. In particular, Charlie, one of the managers, has always been helpful and understanding of our tight deadlines (it's like he actually cares about his job ::gasp::). So, if you need a print job, office supplies, etc., this should be your go-to spot. read more

So I do All the work that needs to be done, email it & all they have to do is press print, to get my 1 page document & I get an attitude because I don't have my credit card & they can't charge me extra for using their Self service kiosk? Literally the worst copy and print experience. The staff is extremely lazy. I walked in asking to simply print a few pages out. I know the computers charge way too much so I wasn't going to print from them. However, the girl helping me tried to avoid telling me the store number so I couldn't send an email, though I was the only customer. When I finally did the others who were just standing around doing absolutely nothing, did not want to check the email to print out my pages. I wasn't asking for anything major and they honestly did not check to even see what I needed. They just stood there like they had no sense. In the end they did not print my pages and I was 25 minutes late to a class that I would have been early to otherwise. Go figure! I would not recommend this location to my worst enemy. read more

This location is staffed by professionals. I work for a major university in Massachusetts, and every year we have a huge gala at the Waldorf in NYC, a block away from this store location. Each year on the morning of the event, I have to get roughly 1,000-1,200 addendum cards printed (and cut!) to be inserted into our gala's programs, as well as our event scripts, timelines, a/v instructions, etc. And, every year, this location gets it done, and with a smile. As my mom said, given that this is a downtown NYC location, one might (albeit stereotypically) expect staff to have attitudes or be a bit rough around the edges. But, the employees in this store are anything but that. They're courteous and professional, and the only attitude they have is a can-do attitude. read more
