Do not use this location! Go to sports arena or mission valley instead or find another office supply store. We live a few blocks away and every couple of months I think, we should give it another try because it is close to us and every time afterwards I think stop doing this to yourself. Every visit is worst than the last. This includes customer service, over charging for items that are on sale, and different prices than what is listed on the shelf. Jose the general manager gave us the worst customer service I have ever experienced. We came in to ship a small box (4x6") and forgot shipping tape. Jose noticed we did not have tape and instead of lending us 2 TINY STRIPS for our super small box, he pointed to the tape for sale and left us no other option but to purchase some. We even saw another staff member pull tape out of the drawer right behind the counter he stood at, right in front of us! It'd be understandable if we had a huge box or multiple packages that needed tape but we only had ONE TINY BOX that needed two tiny strips to seal. Jose would not budge so we grabbed the damn tape and when we finished packaging our box, another staff member rang up our purchase but did not charge us for the tape, so we left and went about our day. Two minutes later, Jose called my cell phone and left a voicemail stating that I needed to come back and pay for the tape. SERIOUSLY?!? If Jose could have been at least half decent of a person from the start, he wouldn't have created such an inconvenience for ALL of us. Jose, If you're that concerned with us buying the tape then maybe YOU should have rang us up! It's not our fault your staff didn't charge us so why should we be at fault and have to come back?! We ended up going back later that day just because we were concerned our package would never get delivered and of course Jose had already left. All the staff was confused and had no idea what to do, but of course still made sure to charge us for the tape! The whole situation was too ridiculous and frustrating to even argue about and not worth any more of our time. We paid for the stupid tape and left, irritated once again. It's not about the money, but the whole concept of it all! Jose needs to stop micromanaging his staff and learn how to treat people respectfully and deliver better customer service, he's the GM for crying out loud. Maybe his staff would be less confused about what to do too, but this review isn't really for them. Needless to say we will never be coming back to this Staples unless our package doesn't get delivered. Worst shipping experience EVER. read more

I'd like to rate this place solely for their printing services. I was blown away by Chuy's help the other week in the printing department! He worked with me to print exactly what I needed within a couple hours of giving him my files. I was so impressed by Chuy's knowledge and customer service! The employees get 4+ stars and staples corporate gets a 2. You really have to work hard to get a reasonable price on stuff. Never pay the in-store price. Look it up on staples.com and show them the price at the check-out. Today I saved $31 on inkjets. The in-store price was $101 and online $70. It took a long time but the check-out person adjusted the price. Better yet shop online and get free delivery! read more

I'm not going back. A warning to all of you, your refunds and rewards will no longer be mailed. You have to print them out online. Not a problem, but my old card got cancelled by their system. I was given a new one. My rewards are credited to the new card. I can't change my account to access it. Waited 30 minutes to talk to a rep, she said she had linked the old and new card numbers and she could see the credit I had coming. She also said I had to print it by the end of the month or it would disappear. She hung up. I tried to log in and I can only see the old number, no credit. I sent an email to Staples through their website, no response after a full week. I called my local Staples this morning and the manager said she'd get back to me. Hasn't happened. I would not take my computer here (again) under any circumstances. I paid the approx $300 for an all-around service contract whereby I could come in anytime I had a problem, McAfee & diagnostics program. I wanted something minor done to my computer & they included that in service. I was suspicious as tech told me he had 30+ years experience - which didn't make sense he would be working there for low wages - but went for it anyway. They didn't run full diagnostics which they were supposed to do & I left it for 3 days - they said I would have to bring back. Nor did they give me info on running it myself. When I got computer home I found my "start" was gone as was my "adblock" & all passwords I had stored in chrome. All relatively minor problems I fixed myself - but makes me wonder what the heck they were messing around with in there. Even worse, I'm getting a weird system error message every time I "restart" my computer. Have had this computer since May, 2017. Been using computers over 30 yrs - but it changes all the time so don't try to keep up - just use it to keep records now. Guy with "30 years" experience kept saying he was dying to dig into it - guess he was curious how computers work. Who knows. Probably more expensive to find problem causing system error msg than just getting a new laptop. I'm older. I can afford it. But, please, be very careful about taking your equipment there. BUYER BEWARE! It's common for Staples, Office Depot, and, I assume, Office Max (although I don't get emails from them) to highlight one incredible deal in their weekly email blasts. Their most recent deal, received Wed., 10.04.11, featured a San Disk 4GB USB flash drive that was "100% Free," or, sort of free. You buy it and they rebate you the purchase price so that you have come back to the store again to spend the rebate. The deal was to run through Saturday, 10.08.11. It's a popular item so you think they'd stock a boat load of them in each store. WRONG! When I got to there, the cupboards were bare. When I spoke to the bland, indescript store manager he said they had "run out on Wednesday" and they had nothing to offer me except "sorry." No rain check, no substitution. No nothing. Just "sorry." He explained the sale was limited to stock on hand. Clearly, Staples intentionally understocks their stores on sale items. So the deal was no deal, just a scam to get customers to come in looking for it, i.e., to generate foot traffic. Way to go Staples! You've taken a page right out of the car dealers playbook where they tout some unbelievable price on a new car but when you find the pee-wee type hidden in the corner of the ad it reads "One offered at this price. Subject to prior sale." I was a fool, don't you be one too! (By the way, Staples has stopped mailing paper rebates out but they never sent out any notices about the change in procedure. As far as I can tell, Staples simply started posting the rebates to customers' accounts. I was lucky to check my account and found $30 worth of rebates that are due to expire this month. I'm guessing there are thousands, tens of thousands, or even hundreds of thousands of Staples customers who have failed to check their accounts only to find out, at a later date, many thousands of dollars in rebates they had earned were now worthless. A brilliant move by the sneaky bean counters at Staples to play hide and seek with their customers' money. Take this week's "deal." A customer buys a usb flash drive and Staples issues a rebate directly into their account 6 or more weeks later but doesn't notify them when they do so. If the customer finds the rebate, then they get that person to return to the store to spend it on one of their thousands of high margin products. If the customer doesn't use the rebate in time, Staples just sold a usb flash drive at retail. It's a win, win situation for Staples and lose, lose for many of its customers. If I could give minus stars i would. How can salesman be so out of touch with their products and the population they sell to. They were wrong about the capabilities and performance of their products and the two salesman i spoke to contradicted each other so much that i didn't know whom to listen to. They clearly are just salesman in this store and not tech savy. I went to this store because i was willing to pay more rather than wait in line at Frys or Best Buy- Big Mistake. Had a bad experience yesterday at this store. I couldn't find what I was looking for and had a hard time finding someone to help me and when I finally did they had only two of the items in stock. When I asked for more, they didn't have them. When I took the two items up to pay I got in one line and a rude bearded guy said excuse me lady but there is only one line. (No sign to indicatge this.) When one of the managers is inept and in your face, then there is no hope for your business. That is what happened at the Staples on Garnet. When we asked for help the manager said he was busy but would send someone over to our aisle. We waited, and waited, and waited. Nobody came over. We went up to the front and asked the manager why nobody came to help us. He started screaming that he was busy and the employees are busy. It wasn't busy. We went to Office Depot and got great service and the items we wanted. As a side note, when we called Staples customer service we got a person from another country who we couldn't understand. And he still has the decency to take my money every time. After giving this place countless of opportunities to get their act together (mostly because of the convenience of the location) I have given up. I ordered business cards online. They were $9.99 for 250 and you design them yourself and can pick them up the same day at staples. It is a great deal, but I had missed something on my cards that I couldn't see on the computer when I created them. There was a small box that said "enter text here." Staples called me and I went in to check out the cards and you could see it in person clearer than on the computer. The guy working behind the counter initially seemed like he was mocking my business cards like they were a joke. He showed me the "enter text here" that was on my cards and asked me if I still wanted them. Obviously I didn't. I asked him if I re ordered another set without that would I be changed for both? He said no and said he would cancel the order. I asked him a few times if I would get charged and he just keep saying no. I didn't feel confident about his answer and he really just seemed like he was playing games. He reminded me of a kid. I knew something wasn't right so I kept checking my bank account and sure enough I got charged. Once I saw that was charged I went right back in and there were different employees there. They were all really nice. The manager helped me with my situation and the other guy working helped out too and they got me my refund. It was nice to get some help, but honestly most of the employees didn't really seemed to know what they were doing. read more

As of today I am officially switching to get my jobs done elsewhere. I live close to this staples location but I have yet to have a positive experience at this store. Showing up here without sending your files first is a poor choice- you will most likely wait for an extremely long time. After learning my lesson I've tried a few things: dropping off jobs and picking them up later, or emailing my jobs first. Sadly today I showed up and they printed my job (one piece of paper) on the incorrect paper so I still had to wait 20 + minutes to get ONE sheet re-printed due to their mistake. Their cutting job isn't on point, and now I have to go home and clean it up... you can say I'm pretty unsatisfied. The staff seems like their all over the place; unorganized and scattered and I can't help but wonder if there is an operating system in place at all. I will gladly travel 25 minutes to a different company because I know I will save on time and the product will be better. read more

Why did they bother to come back to the same spot and not hire enough people to work??? I went in to make a copy...one...from my email. Sounds simple enough but I am not too computer savvy. They wouldn't help me. Period. I asked for help at least 5 times and got one or two word directions reluctantly. A customer finally assisted me and another told me.." They don't hire the brightest people here"!! That's fine you don't have to be a rocket scientist but at least be pleasant and helpful. I was overcharged because I did not get proper instruction on how to use their machines and when it was time to check out I waited so long I just put money on the counter to cover my one page copy. Then I saw my card had been charged. Basically I paid over 5.00 to make one copy of an attachment from my email. Get rid of that store of hire decent intelligent people. NEVER TAKE YOUR PHONE FOR REPAIRS!!!! I took my phone in 5/6/2016 for a small crack repair and charger port replacement. They told me it would take an hour to fix and i would be given a year warranty on the repair. I got my phone back the next day and not even a week later the screen itself was separating from the frame. I took the phone back to have it looked at and they told me my frame was "BENT" and needed to be sent off for straightening. I was confused because i've worked on phones myself and its obvious when the frame is bent you can notice it right away. If the frame was bent, why change the screen? Shouldn't you send it off to be "straightened" before you do the repair? They told me it was regular procedure and it would take another week. I was really upset so i asked if they could do something, they said they would give me a partial refund, I agreed hence i had no choice. About a week later I got a call from the manager named Jesus saying that the place they sent it to says that the frame is "too bent" and i would need to pay more in the amount of $149.99-200.00. I was very upset because its been over 2 weeks now and i don't want to spend any more money at staples. After about 20 mins on hold i finally speak to the manager again and they said thats the best they could do. Today i got call saying that the phone is ready, i went in expecting my partial refund without any questions. They told me they never said that they would give me anything, and thats not possible. After arguing for 20 mins the gm finally told them to give me a refund. They used to have a sign outside that said "QUALITY IPHONE REPAIRS GUARANTEED" i didn't see the same sign when i walked in today. They have no idea what they're doing with iphones, just because you watch a youtube tutorial doesn't mean you're an expert. Horrible customer service, and completely false advertisement (also the same thing happened with my friend who i referred a week after i took the phone in the first time. Same bad customer service, same bent frame, 1-2 weeks without phone, and partial refund. Except they had no problem giving it to her.) If you have a cracked iphone you have a better chance of changing the screen yourself then to come here. I called in to the store to inquire about legal-sized binders (as to whether or not some were in stock) that I had purchased from Staples before. The first person I talked to put me on "hold" to "check" which actually connected me to someone else. The second person said that they didn't even carry them in the store despite the fact I had bought one three days earlier. The third person I talked to repeated what the second person had said, and when I asked if they could figure out if another Staples carried them, she said "yeah, you could call another Staples." To all of you considering using Staples to fix their iPhones DO NOT. I just used their services to solely fix a cracked screen and they ended up; breaking my phone internally, lost the screws that hold my phone together, the screen was not installed properly so it cracked and broke the upper sensor. When I went back to try and resolve the issue, they dismantled my phone and blamed me for the damages stating that I went somewhere else to attempt to fix the phone after they tampered with it. Now why would I go somewhere else for more repairs when any logical person would go to the original place and have them fix their own mistakes(like I did)? They were very rude especially Darrel and he gave me my phone back with yet another damaged part (the home button doesn't work now). Now I am out $100 that I paid staples to break my phone, and additionally need to buy a new phone without a warranty because my phone was blatantly tampered with. I purchased an HP laptop at the urging of the "knowledgeable" salesman and he promised me they would transfer all the info from my old laptop to my new one with the agreement that I would give them my old laptop to recycle. Well let's just say they forgot to transfer my entire music library, over 600 songs, and disposed of my old laptop before I could try and rectify the matter. After arguing with the salesman, store manager and district manager, they all told me it was not Staples' responsibility to transfer certain music libraries-after the fact, I was told to bring in my ipod and they would extract the music from the ipod and put it on my computer. They referred to this as "ripping". Well they not only erased my entire ipod library-the transfer also failed and when I went in to pick up my laptop and ipod, they didn't inform me what happened, it was until I got home that I noticed that my entire ipod library had been erased. Needless to say, I got nowhere once again with the local managers so I took it to corporate and even consulted with an attorney. Corporate wasn't much better as I was told by a lady there that they weren't responsible for the music not being transferred and that Staples is not allowed to "rip" music from Ipods-so why was i told they could initially? They played the angle that my music could have been illegally downloaded since I could not provide proof of purchasing every song that was in the library. I was appauled by not only their not taking responsibility but also making false accusations in order to to save their own butts. They definitely knew how to play the game and make sure they were all telling the same story. Computer tech at store claimed he never told me he could transfer the music even though I had an invoice with his writing that stated that they would transfer the music library. To top it off, despite all the voicemails I left with the store manager-I never received on phone call back! After 6 months and writing numerous letters to both local managers and corporate people, I received a $100 gift card-doesn't quite replace over 600 songs. The lack of accountability on their part along with accusing me of having a music library that may have contained illegal downloads and their employee's inability to be truthful made this the worst shopping experiece I have ever had. read more
