    Chowder

Always good for a lovely view of the harbor and some tasty chowder! Fresh and delicious.

Sea Fresh Restaurant is a long standing staple here at the Channel Islands Harbor and has been serving up fresh seafood since 2000. Over 20 years in business is no small feat. With locations in Oxnard and Ojai - you don't have to go far for some delicious seafood and casual vibes. The locals love this spot but if you are visiting from out of town, you can't beat their Oxnard location at the CH Harbor as nothing beats some fresh seafood and ocean breezes. I've been to their Ojai location a handful of times and more recently their Oxnard shop. Here is what I would recommend: Fried Calamari: I'm a fan of their big fried calamari rings as you get more bang for your buck! Their fried batter is delicious, well seasoned and crispy. The Tatar sauce is the perfect addition to this appetizer. Dont knock it until you try it. (Must eat right away) Grilled Fish Tacos: Such a classic feel good beachy dish. They have fried fish as well but the staff told me to definitely go with the blackened - grilled fish as their seasoning is Fire and it definitely was! A light hint of spice and melt in your mouth dish always makes for a standout bite. Love that the cabbage ratio was balanced and I'm a sucker for some cheese and crema on top. No regrets, this dish hits everytime. Clam Chowder: One of the better bowls of chowder in the 805 in my opinion. When I'm craving something hearty and comforting this is one of the spots I can trust. Always consistent and always delicious. You really can't beat the views and the seafood here. Reasonably priced and casual vibes that keep us coming back. Wishing Sea Fresh continued success and Oxnard is so lucky to have this gem at the harbor.

Ahi poke, grilled sea bass and clam chowder

Based on the mixed reviews, I think it really just depends on what you get. We came here after spending a day at Channel Islands National Park and had a really good experience overall. I got the ahi poke bowl, which at $20 is more expensive than what you'd get at a build your own poke restaurant, but the ingredients were much fresher and I liked how there was a generous portion of fresh avocado. If I might be a little picky, I thought the way they cut the cucumber matchsticks was a little too thick, but otherwise I don't have any complaints. My boyfriend got the grilled sea bass and this was super fresh and tasty. They cooked it just right to have the right texture. The clam chowder side was also delicious a well - the clam bits were fresh and it wasn't overly salty or overwhelmingly creamy.

Sea Fresh Channel Islands is a fantastic place to come anytime you want to enjoy superb seafood and alcohol in a marina setting. We've been here for things like 4th of July and Super Bowl Sunday, and Sea Fresh Channel Islands never disappoints. They have everything from ceviche and shrimp cocktails, to seafood linguini, to fish 'n chips, to tuna melts, to grilled halibut and swordfish and sanddabs, to sushi, to raw oysters on the half shell, just to name a few of my favorite dishes. You MUST get a cup of clam chowder! There's is the best, loaded with huge chunks of potato and lots of fresh clams, creamy and rich. They also have burgers, sandwiches, and teriyaki bowls and other non-seafood dishes for landlubbers. They offer a full bar, and I can personally vouch for their Bloody Mary, margarita, and Manhattan. My favorite specialty cocktail is the pineapple cucumber refresher. There's plentiful outdoor seating, dog friendly and with a perfect harbor view. Heat lamps are lit in chillier weather. You can often hear the sea lions barking as you sit, eat, drink, look at the water and boats, and enjoy. Relaxed, yet up-market, this is the place to sit by the water and enjoy life.

Nice location on the marina; would appear to be a decent place, but we were disappointed overall. In general, the service was mediocre, the food was bland, and it was expensive. Parking is aplenty in a large, private lot, but restrooms are in an outside common area and were not maintained very well. Service was okay to non-existent. Asked several times to get the table wiped clean. FOOD: Everything needed more salt/seasoning, or benefited from the various sauces (cocktail, tartar, and local hot sauces). The good: Cup of New England Clam Chowder ($6.50) was delicious. The rest of the food was good, after seasoning it yourself and using the various sauces. The French fries were a little soft/soggy for my taste. We tried the Shrimp & Chips ($17), Jumbo Shrimp Dinner ($24), Halibut Dinner ($25), Fisherman's Combo ($20). With a couple of sodas, we were looking at $98, before tax and tip. They do have a nice bar and the views are nice, but since we're not in the area, I'm not sure we'd come here again.

It was my first time at this restaurant... It was sooo good... Sooo good as soon as I got to the hotel I fell asleep for about 12 hours. There is no clam chowder like it anywhere. One of my besties is a foodie and always takes me to the best places. I told my husband I'm gonna take him there even if it is a 4 hour drive from home... He's up for the challenge. So if you love fish and chips and clam chowder... and a beautiful scenery... you need to check this place out STAT!

Came back for lunch! Enjoyed the nice weather from the patio and outdoor seating. This place is dog and pet friendly do feel free to bring your pets! They even have water bowls and water specifically for pets haha. The patio area is well shaded and comfortable right by the marina. We got the blackened seabass with upgrade to premium sides (onion rings and fried zucchini). What a deal! Huge portion for $27. The seabass is grilled to perfection and the onion rings and zucchini were perfectly crispy. We loveeee the fried zucchini! They also add a bit of cheese on top. Great premium side upgrade. Also, we wanted the seared ahi by itself and they were able to do that for us $14. Not bad but not the best seared ahi I've had. Fried calamari is hit and miss. Sometimes it's good sometimes it's bad. Today was a bit of a miss on the batter. Not too crispy. More on the crunchy side. The calamari texture was also really squishy and didn't feel right haha. Maybe bad batch. Usually it is pretty good here. Will come again. Definitely getting the grilled fish plate with premium side upgrades!

This place is in the harbor. Perfect place to have lunch on the patio. Plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. Everyone brings their dog's. You have to get the limoncello muscles, the sauce is so good and they give you garlic bread to dip. I got the grilled sea bass and garlic truffle Brussels sprouts. The fish was fresh. Get the Brussels sprouts! The clam chowder was delicious and they actually had clams and not just a bunch of potatoes. My cousin had the fish and chips and she said they were good and she always gets it when she comes here. This is an order at the bar and pick up your food kind of place. Would recommend if you are looking for a solid lunch spot by the beach. Definitely coming back to try more things.

Food is completely tasteless. Taco Bell cheese on the fish tacos. The most bland ceviche you've ever had. $100 in the wind.

Instead of speaking to us directly, the owner asked an employee to tell us that customers were not allowed to use it. As paying customers, that felt frustrating and unwelcoming. The second experience involved the aguas frescas. I asked if I could sample a flavor before purchasing, and I was told no. When I asked what would happen if I didn't like the drink, I was informed that the restaurant does not allow exchanges or refunds. While I understand businesses have policies, the interaction came across as unfriendly and left a bad impression. After supporting this restaurant for years, these experiences were enough for me and my family to decide not to return. Loyal customers want to feel valued and appreciated, and I hope management takes customer service concerns seriously because great food alone isn't always enough to keep customers coming back.

With that being said, I wanted to try it out. This was about 2 years ago prior to this visit I had today at this location. I jotted the note down after overhearing him talking about it while watching Netflix. When arriving, the environment outside is run down, old fashioned and in the scary graffiti, homeless surrounding. Parking is difficult to find, but we got lucky me and a colleague. The place is on a road side where parking it located a few streets between about 100 feet away. The surrounding had graffiti and loitering which was unpleasant and I would imagine it is worse at night, be careful here! Inside, a wonderful aroma excites you as you enter the restaurant. Booths all around and hard uncomfortable seats. A lot of people came here today on Sunday afternoon. Customer service was excellent, the guy at the front was very chill, polite and acted as if I was his homie, buddy or good friend. This is what I like. I ordered the birria of course, a meat drenched in a bunch of flavors for days to keep the meat juicy, tender and moist. The variations ordered were three tacos plate with birria, onions cilantro and a consome that was massive. This meal was $17. The other order was a four piece birria quesadilla that was absolutely delightful, succulent and had a delicious hunger craving aroma and flavor that any starving or hungry person would die for! This plate was $14. The tacos did come with beans and rice. Between the two dishes the birria quesadilla was my favorite however, the tacos tasted better. The tortilla of the tacos was fresh and made with love. The value was regular, something I expected compared to taco trucks and side vendors of Mexican food. This place is extraordinary. I felt guilty after consumption because it was fatty, juicy and everything you would want in a pleasurable meal, but it was heavy on the calories and filling. It was a messy meal, I added salsas, more seasoning from the condiments bar. There were so many different sauces and fillings like lemon etc. to balance the flavors of the birria. The console incuded was an added kick that I loved. Definitely one of the best if not the best birria I ever had and I highly recommend this place if you like Mexican cuisine at its finest. An absolute hidden treasure that you need to try! I'll come back after a month of consistent cardio and strength training to burn enough fat and make room for another appetite that soothes my brain cells.
