******BEFORE READING OR GOING BY ANY OTHER REVIEWS HERE- READ THIS REVIEW AS THIS WILL ADDRESS ALL CUSTOMER REVIEWS AND NEGATIVE EXPERIENCES FROM OTHER CUSTOMERS- VERY IMPORTANT THAT ALL POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS READ THIS TO KNOW EXACTLY WHAT TO EXPECT*** First off, I am a LICENSED NYS Retail dealer- I know, so then why would I purchase a vehicle from another dealer? Well, here are the EXACT reasons why (I will get into all the other customer reviews after, as I read them and still went to this dealer). The reason I went to this dealer was because I was looking for a Low mileage 2016 STI for my brother. By going through my own sources for this vehicle did not make sense, 1). The APR on a used vehicle will ALWAYS be higher (although you would save some money on the actual purchase price- certain cars especially Subaru's are NOT worth it- they hold value through the roof (I owned 1 before and also sold a quite a few through my own dealership). 2). The STI I was contemplating through my own source was NOT worth it- the base model through my source would only save me about $3,000, have over 4,000 miles, NO Navigation, NO push start and NO premium sound- on top of that being that my brother has IDEAL (800+ credit) it was a win-win for him as he would get the LOWEST APR possible (granted I could have possibly saved an additional .30% going through a credit union but did not want to be bothered). I walked in on May 28, 2016 in my work uniform and like MOST of the negative reviews here- I was not greeted immediately but UNLIKE the IGNORANT reviews here, I was patient as I realized that the salesmen at Star Subaru are not robots. They were extremely busy attending to other customers but I gave them about 10 minutes and the first available salesman named Pano attended to me. My initial thoughts were not positive only because just like other customers I made that typical assumption that he was going to try to get me. I later found that I was completely wrong. I explained to Pano what the situation was, how much down payment my brother had, his credit score and the fact that he was already pre-approved. Without even giving him a single penny deposit, he treated me with respect and did not doubt me for one second that I would bring in my brother the following day. The following day I brought in my brother with the full deposit in my pocket (Pano had no idea). He told me straight forward that we will put in the finance application but there are no promises that the banks are open today- in any event "I will call you as soon as I hear about your application." We both agreed and I wanted to give a $500 deposit but he said "No, only a $100 Full-refundable deposit will suffice." Monday, I get a phone call from Pano telling me the good news that my brother was approved (which I knew was not an issue), he tells me the rate and what do you know- a .40% LOWER than what my brother was approved for on his own. I told him we would be there on June 1, 2016 with the full down payment and will proceed with the deal, which we did and left more than satisfied. No one pressured me to buy anything- they offered and I respectfully declined any additional coverage- which is your right as a buyer. NO one can force you as a buyer to do anything BUT remember there are extended warranties and Tire/Rim protection packages for the benefit of you. Yes, they do cost additional money but it is WELL worth it. I have sold numerous of these own warranties at my own dealership and I wish I could have all my personal customers comment on just how beneficial it is when things go wrong. It just didn't make sense for me since I have my own repair facility as well. In the midst of it all since I am a dealer (as previously mentioned) and I conduct my own business ethically, I saw the same practices at this dealer, from my interactions with Pano to conversing with Andrew (salesmen), Dave (salesmen) and Doug (Manager)- this is the Subaru dealer you want to go to. My advice to all that are quick to jump on Yelp and give a business a bad review for being busy- sit there for a minute and think to yourselves- be glad you are dealing with a dealer that is busy, that means they are doing something right. Don't be the typical ignorant individuals below that didn't give the dealer a chance. Remember, if there are 20 negative reviews think about all the hundreds and thousands of satisfied customers out there; it's just unfortunate that people are quicker to give a negative review than a positive one these days. I was reluctant that day about walking into that dealer but if I can be satisfied- then you Will be...just give them a chance. read more

Went in at recommendation of friend. Although I couldn't find the person he was referring me too I was able to get assisted by Steve. I let Steve know my budget and he worked with me to get everything approved and checked out as quickly and painlessly as possible. I knew what car I wanted and I knew the color too and Steve was able to reserve it for me. Kevin their insurance guy worked to get me the best quote possible for insurance and he really pulled through finding a quote that was only a couple of dollars more than my rate for a used car already 20 years old. Also Mike was excellent in helping me work the numbers out as far as budgeting and getting me a rate that was reasonable and I would say very fair. I'm very pleased that I went here as the last dealership I went too a few years back at Paragon Honda felt a bit shady and I found out later they were in a lawsuit. Here I didn't get any of that or feel I was being coerced into buying x y or z package. Steve and Mike were excellent in explaining the contract thoroughly and concisely so I understood the terms and conditions clearly and wasn't with any doubts. Kevin also was great in explaining the insurance policy what each term implied and how costs got broken down. Five out of five stars and I recommend these guys to anyone looking for a good deal on a lease. Will do business with these guys again. read more

The Subaru advertising on Kanzhongguo Times, the largest weekly Chinese newspaper in New York, and good Chinese sales person in Star Subaru make me choose SUBARU as my new car. I started reading Kanzhongguo Times a few years ago. Every week I can see Subaru advertising and sometimes I can see editorials on Subaru that discuss its Top safety and All Wheel Drive features, which has given me a deep impression of Subaru. So when I need a new car this year, I do not hesitate to choose SUBARU. The 2014 brand new Forester has many new functions such as when I reverse, there is a screen that shows the situation at the back of the car and helps to avoid accident. It also has heated seats, making it very comfortable to drive in the cold weather. Another important reason for me to buy Subaru from Star Subaru is because the general manager and the Chinese sales person Jackson are very nice. Jackson has the patience to teach me the various functions of the new car. I am very satisfied with their service. I also introduced Subaru to one of my good friends in another city who bought a new Subaru Impreza. read more

One of the worst experiences i've ever had buying a car. We were there for over 6 hours and this is with no price negotiations, great credit, a trade-in, and cash down. I walked in, motivated to buy. By the time we were finally ready to leave it was after 7 PM and getting dark. We did not have time to go over much in the car but the basics and I was told to come back the next day if I wanted a more in-depth tour. The whole attitude of the salesman, Frank Robles, was take what was on the lot or wait 6 to 8 weeks. Apparently, Star Suburu has really limited stock. My spouse and I have read through the manuals and we come across a number of things that do not work as they are supposed to. Additionally, Frank spent most of his time speaking to my husband and not to me - the one buying the car. I was so excited to buy my first Suburu vehicle, a Crosstrek, and now am considering just taking it back and getting my old VW back. If I keep the Crosstrek, it will still probably be the last time I do any business with Star Suburu. Avoid at all costs! read more

I must give this dealer the highest of ratings. I purchased and leased many cars from BMW , PORSCHE , M.B..HONDA ,EVERTHING .but the crew at Star Subaru made this probably one of the most enjoyable purchases I have experienced. My salesman, Anton , knew more about the product than I ever could have imagined. Their was no presure to make the deal NOW . They actually encouraged me to shop. When ever I read these reviews I take them with a grain of salt because most people that wright reviews are people with complaints. Or people that are asking for something unreasonable and think they can bully the salesperson into wrighting a deal that can not be delivered at the price they want . Star did not do this .They gave me the price and the service I felt I should get . I will recomend this dealer to anyone looking for a Subaru. I have owned cars for almost 40 years and Subarus for almost a decade. I went here to help my daughter get her first car. This is the fairest and most patient dealership I've ever been to. I want to give a special shout out to Tae who was extremely patient and understanding and who along with the finance manager never gave a "hard sell" or any pressure at all. Through her colleague Kevin at the Legend Agency next door, they were both very good at finding relatively affordable insurance for a young driver who hasn't even had her license a year. While I plan to keep my car (a Subaru of course!) awhile I would definitely come here for my next car, even though I live over the bridge in Yonkers. I am definitely recommending them to my friends. Star Subaru is one of the absolute worst Subaru dealerships I have ever dealt with. My parts department experience with them was nothing but a complete and utter diaster. THEY gave me the wrong part and did not care to fix the problem. I have an 07 WRX and needed a new driveshaft in order to complete an STI transmission swap. They ordered the part which came in two weeks late. My engine builder and tuner tried to fit the driveshaft and it did not fit. They gave me a legacy driveshaft when I clearly asked for an Impreza driveshaft. Tuner luckily gave me his. I go back tell them to give me a refund and I had to argue with them for what seemed like hours until they said they would mail me a check for the refund. I had to wait 7 weeks for that check. I recently purchased a 2024 WRX Base and the car was in great condition and had very low miles for a used car. Customer service was great also. The Sales Representative, Taeshara Hopkins was very cordial, professional and friendly. She was very attentive and responded to all of my requests and inquiries in a timely manner through email and text messaging before I even showed up to the dealership. I had already financed the car through my own lender so I did not have to spend much time in the finance office. The finance manager processed the paperwork thoroughly and efficiently and I spent less than an hour at the dealership when I finally went to pick up the car. I do recommend this dealership. We have owned a 2003 Outback that we purchased new in 2002. This Subaru has provided many satisfactory miles of travel. The AWD and suspension provides excellent handling and control. There has only been a few minor repairs required. After eight years service and over 150k miles it was time to replace the 2003 Outback. We wanted another Subaru Outback. Our sales rep went over all the improvements Subaru had made in the Outback and answered all our questions. He never rushed us through the purchase and there were no surprises when the paper work was completed. The great price was the same as he had initially quoted. I recently purchased a new Subaru Crosstrek and had the pleasure of being assisted by Demetri Gounaris. Though the process was full of "bumps" - caused by me, not the dealership - Demetri was fantastic in smoothing out and solving the problems. The typical "car salesman" stereotype certainly does not apply to him! He was patient, knowledgeable, offered advice when I needed it, and even after the purchase, he responded promptly to my phone calls and numerous questions. For me the purchase of a new car is always a challenge. Seeking a particular model Subaru having I was aware of what a fair price would be. I dislike a "hard sell" or an overbearing salesperson. Sales agent, Jimmy Zeng understood my wishes quickly and wasted no time and was 100% amenable. Once the price was established he sought approval form the manager, Mike DeCosimo. No objections were raised. Clean, clear, direct. That's my style. Star Subaru respected how I wanted to be treated and was thoroughly accommodating. I was very impressed as to how Star Subaru treats it's customers and does not apply any sale pressure to get you to make a purchase or options you really do not need. My sister and I own 3 Subarus between us from 1996 through 2012. We love them! Wouldn't have anything else. The manager, Doug, at Star is knowledgeable, personable, and the sales personnel are not "pressure cookers" I've experienced through the years. That's why we have exclusively purchased our Subarus through STAR. NOW for their wonderful SERVICE DEPT in Queens Village. Lou and Wes are professional, courteous, and efficient staff members. I am 66 years old and have never returned to a car dealer for a second purchase.
