If I could give them 0 stars I would. We walked in interested in buying a vehicle no one approached us. They saw us . There were several employees but not one of them asked if we needed any help. We looked at a few vehicles on our own; went inside the vehicles opened the back seat and trunk and still not one of the employees asked if they could help us. They absolutely saw us when we walked in as they looked right at us. So we left taking our business elsewhere . read more

After some initial miscommunication and misunderstanding involving the (non)availability of a particular Subaru Ascent for which I was given a great lease quote, Steve and the team at Star Subaru called me to apologize and honored the original deal they gave me plus a few perks thrown in for good will. I am happy they came around to make things right. I signed the lease today and I have to say it's a great deal that cannot be found elsewhere. I have had three very unpleasant experiences with Star Subaru. Despite the service department telling me my oil had been changed, I brought it to a certified mechanic after it was not running properly and it was determined it had not in fact been done. When I confronted the dealership they said that team had been replaced with all new staff. Since this time I have had two opportunities where I needed to contact the Finance Manager Mike Decosimo. On each occasion I made numerous calls to him but I never received returned calls. Upon further complaining to another staff member I was finally able to connect with Mike. He was quite rude and he hung up the phone on me. I had my mother call back and he also hung up the phone on her refusing to help us with our request. When I asked for the Manager in charge Mike said he was the boss and continued to be unprofessional. I am extremely disappointed in the service level and experiences I have continued to face with Star Subaru. I will never recommend or purchase from this dealer again. read more

After test drive and finishing paperwork Jerry, salesperson, said that we will get car In 2 months, also he mentioned that deposit that we made is supposed to be not refundable, but dealership can't keep our money if we change our mind. Month later I called them to find out about car status and they said that Jerry terminated, also they took my information and said that will call me back. Another month passed but still no phone call from them. I'm calling again to find out that there is some problem on a factory and my car will arrive around end of April!!! No one called me in two months to say anything about it. I called to talk to the manager and he said that they don't have any crosstreck in stock and if I want to cancel order they will not give me my deposit back, even that's company fall that car will be 2 months later that it was expected. read more

This is my 3rd Subaru. I love these cars and for me, they sell themselves. To start, the part of the deal where me and Chris settled on an out the door price was great. It all went downhill from there. They didn't have our exact model and trim in stock so we left a deposit and they ordered it. No big deal. A couple weeks later we receive a call that our vehicle is ready for delivery so my husband goes down to finish the paperwork and take delivery - on a vehicle that was missing an entire package we paid for. To add insult to injury, the vehicle had no gas in it and it wasn't clean like how most new cars are. To make matters worse, this debacle of waiting for our parts to come in has taken MONTHS. The communication has been awful. There have been no apologies. As I type this, my husband is currently driving our vehicle to the service center because when he showed up to his appt to finally receive the missing parts, the guy told him they can't even do this type of work at the dealership, that they can try to get it done today. My husband doesn't even know if they have all of the parts. Bottom line - I wouldn't mess with this dealership. If you are considering a Subaru you would be better off to go to any other dealer in the area. I would absolutely not trust anyone at this dealership with my Subarus. read more

Just had an excellent experience with the team at Star Subaru. From the start, Sales Rep Jimmy Z was fantastic. He went out of his way to accommodate a test drive without prior notice. Throughout the purchase process, he was transparent and took his time explaining every aspect of the deal to us. Once the deal was complete, he also took the time to explain every feature of the vehicle in detail with us. Honest, helpful and friendly. We couldn't have asked for a better salesman. The often dreaded financing and price negotiation process was a breeze as well. The manager Mike was not aggressive and after a bit of negotiating, he offered us terms we were comfortable with. No hassle. Straight forward. Fair. We did our research and checked out a few dealerships before purchasing with Star Subaru. Was told by FRANK that my check would be held, when they denied us a car (with a high credit rating - had ZERO problems buying elsewhere!) they cashed our deposit and refused to tell me how to get it back. After leaving at least 5 messages, I finally got through to my agent - WHO NEVER CALLED ME BACK, only to have him berate me on the phone and tell me that it's not his fault that I have terrible credit (really, mid 700's is terrible??). If I could give this dealership ZERO stars I definitely would. This review is long overdue but definitely needed. May 5, 2014 visit to Star Subaru on Northern Blvd, NY. I put a down payment on a 2015 Subaru Impreza WRX STI Limited with navigation. I was told and it was written out on my invoice that the car would not be shipped until 6 to 8 weeks from the date. I was totally fine with that, after the 4th of July I was still without a vehicle. I contacted Subaru and was now informed another 4 more weeks and that my vehicle didn't even have a VIN yet. The week of July 28 I contacted Subaru and was told that my vehicle would be on the August 15 or the August 25 boat and was offered Subaru bucks. A few days later I called the 1800 number to inquire about my Suburu bucks and was only to be informed that they don't not offer Subaru bucks anymore and that I have been misinformed of the shipping dates once again and should expect my vehicle first week in October. I'm really surprise that I went through this with Subaru, if I would have never inquired about the shipment of my vehicle, no one would have even offered a courtesy call from the beginning to inform me of the new shipment date. I have been severally in convinced and not had a vehicle to drive to and from work in. I have been subjected to taken the trains as I continue to wait for this particular vehicle that I already had left a down payment on. So anyway October comes and still no vehicle November and December no Vehicle. I had to fight for my down payment back and go to another dealership to receive the vehicle I wanted. read more

It's 1am in the morning and I can't sleep. So I guess this is a good time for me to write a review. It's has been months since I went to their service dept, but I don't really have any time until now. Unlike my experience at the showroom, my experience at the service dept was not so pleasant. I was promised free oil change for two years at the time when I purchased the car. When I am at the service dept, they said the first oil change is free anyway. But for the remaining oil changes, I will need to show them a sheet of paper from the sales dept saying that I am getting free oil changes. Hello???? Are we in the 1980s??? Just call your coworker in the sales dept and have the sheet fax or e-mail to you. How difficult is it? That phone call would have take you 2 minutes. But you rather spend much longer time explaining to me why I must physically go to the sale dept and bring you this piece of paper to proof that I am getting free oil change. If making a 2 minute phone call to your coworker for me is too much work for you, I guess I can go somewhere else next time. read more

Worst experience ever in a car search. I went to Star Subaru to test drive a few cars and hopefully leave with one. It took about 20 or so min. for someone to help me, my bf had to get help. Once a man (older, blonde hair) reluctantly came over he proceeded to tell me the obvious information about the car. Then when I asked to test drive it I was told a flat out "Nope, we can't do that. There aren't any cars for you to test drive" ... Talk about pissed how am I to buy a car without test driving it. His response "well, most ppl feel that way too". If youre gonna buy a car from here double check the breakdown before signing, they bring you in and tell you a car wont be available for a couple weeks and write down the agreed price for the vehicle and bring you to an understanding that it will be the price. When i got my paper there was a 3600 rent charge and the agreed price was 1,000 more. When you ask the salesman Frank Swaney what those are, he replies that he doesnt know and that its "the best deal possible" and that its what "you were approved for." dont believe the hype, he knows exactly what hes doing to you, thats why he has a silver plaque on his wall. This dealership needs proper complaints to the attorney general and the better business bureau. The dealership should have their license revoked or remove these crooks from their vicinity. The rent charge is the sum of the net capitalized cost and the residual. After both of those are added you multiply by the money factor which should only be a couple hundred dollars. read more

Walked in to buy a car today. We were greeted very warmly by the receptionist. Our sales person, Crystal, was very pleasant, informative and helpful. All things you would expect from a professional sales person. With her help, we narrowed it down to three choices. We asked her to give us the pricing so that we could make our final decision. For this she has to go to her sales manager. After a few minutes, she comes back and tells us that the manager won't give the price for all three cars, we should pick the one we want, and then he will give us a price. ??????? How can you make a decision without knowing all the information????? At this point, we give a price that we want to pay for each of the three cars. Crystal returns to us with the sales manager, Andy. Who again says to us "which car do you want?" And again we say we want to know the price for each of the three. Now the whole tone of the conversation changes. In a very cold and uninterested manner, Andy gives us a price for each car. It was quite clear pre judged us as people who weren't going to buy a car today, when that is the opposite of our intention. Based on our experts with Crystal we were ready to go once we had the information we requested. Andy came over and blew the sale for her. If I was looking to buy a Subaru, i would ask Crystal where she will be working next. He was unprofessional and didn't try in any way to close this sale. Crystal was great read more

Horrible customer service. Went in to work out a lease and was told for all the features I wanted it would be 8 weeks. I may have been naive but I was in no rush and agreed. As it got closer I called to check and was informed the salesman was on vacation. The GM said the car would be in mid/ June. Never heard back. Went in to the showroom and was told everything was on track to pick up the 17th. The vacationing salesman called back on the 17th and didn't remember the deal. Claimed I never returned their calls and my car was long gone. When I disagreed, he said he would look into it. Called him back later in the day and he said my car wasn't in due to a train derailment but he could give me a deal for a lot more money. Needless to say asked for my deposit back. Horrible experience, go anywhere else. They deserve no stars. Note: this is the first review I've ever written, just so annoyed. I will report them to BBB and Subaru. read more

Just had my yearly inspection on my 2018 Forester at Star Subaru's Parts & Service shop in Flushing. A new management team has been there since summer 2017 (or around that time), and I cannot praise them enough. Everyone, from the gentleman who greets you when you first drive your vehicle into the garage, to the cashier when you check out, is friendly, professional, and makes you feel appreciated and glad you went there. In addition, I would like to personally thank Chandra, who sent me a 'heads-up' email to remind me that my inspection was due this month, which she followed up with a phone call a week or so later. Way to go! That's what I call going above and beyond. Especially, in view of my having received a few tickets in the past for failing to get my inspection done on time. I don't know the 'greeter's' name (the one at the stand when you first drive in), but he is such a sweetheart. He's helped me on more than one occasion to re-set my clock from EST to DST because I just can't get the hang of it. Oh, and always with the nicest smile. read more

I never took my car anywhere else before I brought it to Star, I put my full faith and trust in the dealerships hands when I asked if Subaru would honor the warranty. There was this grey area that "maybe they would if no sludge was in the engine" or "if it had sufficient oil and antifreeze". Which didn't apply bc I took care of the car, I was under the impression after hearing this that I would be covered. The despicable part is that as you the dealership should be more forthcoming with your customers since it is you that knows best what Subaru of America will void or honor. Your nothing but money hungry & greedy, to have to pay 1000.00 to strip my engine apart lose nuts and bolts and washers (that only now I know are missing) And to Throw my engine in pieces in the trunk like a hunk of junk is worthy of the best shady mechanic working on the corner to feed his family, when the Greek who owns Star is a millionaire 5x over. The salesman was not in a wheelchair - and even if he had some disability that made it impossible for him to come greet us, I suspect it wasn't that disability that made him unfriendly and gruff. And the comment about making arrangements for us to drive two models that were available, but we'd already left? Absolutely false. The sales rep who may or may not have been disabled but was certainly unfriendly and uninterested in us was clear that we were NOT going to do any test drive on a Saturday. Nobody was making any arrangements for us. But you know what? No great loss to me - we drove directly to East Hills Subaru, where we bought a lovely Forester. I recently purchased 15' Forester from this dealership after getting several price quotes from several dealerships. Star Subaru was the best price I was given so I chose them. Salesman Dave Huang was very professional and accomadating however the Finance Manager was a different story. Getting a low enough interest rate I was expecting was not thoroughly done and a low monthly was hard because of somewhat rude and unprofessional Finance Manager. His method of pushing all the unnecesary extra warranties boardered on obnoxious,I know thats his job but he should give me a choice and not rush me then let me make an honest decision. Be wary of all these extras the Finance Dept. tries to sell you, most of it you don't really need and can effect your monthly payments. read more

I figured out why it must be called star Subaru...because they are only deserving of one star. Came in here for my 12,000 mile maintenance which INCLUDES when I looked at the details an oil change and a tire rotation. So I up and dandy make my appointment for 8:30 am the first in the morning so I could get out and spend time with my family during the holiday season...boy was I ever wrong. Showed up at 8:20 am to a line of cars to which I thought OK I have am appointment so this still shouldn't take long. Other people who were ahead of me who I talked to while I was waiting had 9am appointments and their cars got done before mine while I sit and sit and sit until 12pm! For an oil change and supposed tire rotation. I really don't get why they even have an appointment system if it's not even honored like I would be cool with it if they said first come first served but with an appointment systems I wouldn't expect to apply. That's not what all deserves the low rating though. They also never rotated the tires, which was part of the service so now I have to waste my next weekend going to Subaru again to get my tires rotated since they somehow didn't even do a part of the planned work that was written down to be done to my car. Will never be coming here again. Avoid their service department at all cost unless you want to run the risk of wasting your whole day here with not even the right work done to your car. read more

Before purchasing the car, he told me he would be able to get the stock rims for me and never did. Now i have a warranty issue and he said he cant do anything because I already bought the car like that. Very scummy people. Will never buy again and will never recommend this place ever again. My husband and I were looking for a new car and decided on a 2017 Subaru Forester. Since Star Subaru was right in the neighborhood we stopped in on Oct. 1st. Will Vergez came right over to us to help us. From the minute he started showing us the Forester we realized how knowledgeable and professional he was. We ordered the car that day and Will told us we would probably get it in at the beginning of December. He also told us that he will keep us updated every 2 weeks or so as he was getting info on the car, which he did. 5 weeks after we ordered the car I got the wonderful email saying my car will be in the next week. So 6 weeks after we ordered it, a full 4 weeks earlier than we thought we would. The day we picked up the car, Will sat with us for 2 1/2 hours going over every inch of the car, including the engine. He also told us that he will follow up with us after the weekend to see how everything is. Guess what? He called us today. Will is the most professional sales person we have ever dealt with. If I could give 0 stars believe me I would. In short, every time I've gone into Star Subaru service center, and excuse my language, but I've been treated like a piece of sh**!!!!!! They must hold some kind of grudge against me because for some reason , not only did my dash cam catch the technician calling me a bi***, and insulting me saying I don't know how to drive meanwhile I have no idea who he is, but the service technicians and the manager decided it was okay to withhold information from me and let me drive a car that is unfit and dangerous to be driven!!! On September 25th I brought my car into Star Subaru Service because I was hearing a knocking noise when I would go over bumps or when I put the car into gear. At times I even felt the engine vibrate. When I brought it into service they had the car all day long and then called me last minute to tell me they had just test driven it and that there was absolutely nothing wrong with it and I should come take it back. I argued for at least 15 minutes to convince the service rep that I was hearing noises in the front of the car upon impact which got me nowhere because the service rep told me to my face that they could not check the car without probable cause. I left thinking maybe I was crazy until a few weeks later the car started shaking and vibrating uncontrollably when I took it in for emergency service. The secretary in the front told me to bring it right in and then once the manager saw me he told me they actually had no time and I'd have to bring it back in 2-3 weeks when they "weren't busy." So they basically let me leave and drive a car on the street risking my life, without ANY concern for me. YESTERDAY, I went BACK to Star Subaru to get an oil change and service my car when my dash camera caught the technician, and an employee bad mouthing me AND I caught both technicians saying that my motor mounts were bent. I picked my car up 45 minutes later and ABSOLUTELY NOTHING was mentioned to me about the motor mounts. I had to find out by watching all the videos on my dash cam where they spent 15 minutes badmouthing me and my boyfriend when I don't even know them!!!! In the video the technician mentions that if I knew my motor mounts were broken I would "blame them"!!! Oh so I guess it's better if I go out and drive my car so my engine can fall off and I can get into an accident or cause even worse damage to the car !!!!!!!???? This is how Subaru treats their customers and this is how I've been treated since day ONE of servicing my car at Star Subaru. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. The manager needs training on customer care because he and everyone else in there have absolutely NO idea how to treat a customer. I AM APPALLED! And if you were planning on buying a Subaru I SUGGEST YOU GO NOWHERE NEAR THE STAR SUBARU SERVICE DEPARTMENT. Thanks to them I will never buy a Subaru again in my life !!!!!!
