The staff was great; they greeted me immediately and moved things right along. ​I ordered the Japanese Tender Box, and these things are massive. You get four huge tenders drenched in Japanese BBQ sauce, pickled ginger, and wasabi aioli. The crunch is perfect, but the meat stays really juicy on the inside. Honestly, the flavor is so heavy that the extra dipping sauces they include are kind of overkill. For my side, I grabbed the Brussels sprouts. They had a nice sweet Thai glaze and crispy shallots, but mine were definitely overcooked, which took away from the taste. ​One thing that's actually worth mentioning is the drink station. It's not just a standard soda fountain--they have house-made lemonades and craft sodas that were a really cool surprise. ​The big "but" here--and I hope the management sees this--is that I ordered my food to-go. They handed me a bag that looked ready to hit the road, but when I got back to my car, I realized there wasn't a single napkin or piece of silverware inside. Trying to eat saucy chicken and glazed sprouts in a car with no napkins is a nightmare. ​Between the burnt sprouts and the missing essentials, I couldn't give it a full five stars. However, that chicken is legit and the drinks are great, so it's a solid four. Such a cute place!! Stopped in and got the Nashville hot tenders with fries and a couple sauces to try! The tenders were juicy but the rub on them was not hot and I was hoping for a crispy/crunchier tender VS a soft tender. The fries were sooo good!! This place is awesome! They have a large parking lot. You can order food at the kiosks inside or at the counter. I brought my friends with me and we have several dietary restrictions - they were able to accommodate everyone! I had the vegetarian sandwich which was incredible. This is THE chicken place I've been missing all my life! In a word , "Wow!" The woman behind the counter was extremely helpful. First time here and she made suggestions and tried to make everything according to personal preferences. For example, I got the Tokyo Sesame salad and I did not want the chicken fried. They grilled it but using the same spices they would've used for the fried chicken. My grilled chicken was tender and juicy. Excellent flavor. I really appreciate that level of service. My friend had a chicken sandwich and he said it was extremely good. The carrot dressing was unique and a delight. What I really like is their original menu items. We've been to Starbird twice now....once during their soft opening and then again this past weekend. I've been impressed both times which I didn't think would be the case because really, another chicken place? Yep, this place is straight out of California and bringing some quality chicken and sauces to Colorado! They have a snazzy app with special offers once you join and order the first time. The tenders are HUGE. They come in counts of three or four and have some awesome flavors like Thai and lemon parmesan. Fries are legit, elote has been lackluster but my favorite side has been the kale slaw. Dont sleep on it! I appreciated the kiosks for self-ordering, as well as the option to order with an employee. I also liked the convenience of TV screens at the front and back of the restaurant to display order statuses. The food was good, although I wish there were more dairy-free options. The tenders looked large and juicy but we opted for wings. My boyfriend ordered the Garlic Parmesan and I got the Sweet Thai wings. After ordering, I checked the allergen menu and realized the Sweet Thai contains fish sauce, which I can't have. The name is a bit misleading - I expected more of a sweet Thai chili flavor, but the fish sauce was very strong. Thankfully, Fay, one of the employees, was incredibly kind and helpful. She offered to replace my wings with a different option, and I chose the Lemon Pepper, which was delicious. She went above and beyond with her service and is truly a standout team member. I've stopped in a couple of times now for takeout, and I've gotten to try several menu items in that time. They're tasty - I like the quality of the ingredients they use, and though I'm not really sure how I would differentiate it from the million other chicken places out there, these guys are good. I hope they keep expanding the menu since it's nice to have more than just the basic fried chicken sandwich and wings and tenders. They have a seasonal menu, which right now is Asian, and maybe some of those things stick full-time. It's in a small building across Colorado Boulevard from Home Depot, so it's a little tricky getting there unless you're driving southbound. We ordered a portion of wings, two flavors; California bbq and sweet thai chili. The California bbq was by far our favorite from these two. The wings were cooked really good they were fat and juicy, perfect amount of sauce. The Thai wings fell short in flavor, it did looked like they had seasoning and a glaze however the flavor was very very minimal. Still good, just not as flavorful as the Cali bbq. Overall we really enjoyed the wings from star bird and we are looking forward in trying more from their menu! We also ordered the churros, I wouldn't waste my money on them again. For context, I had signed up to attend their soft opening last week but there was a scheduling software snafu which allowed people to sign up on a day they weren't open. I posted a review sharing my frustration after making the drive and ending up with no food. I wasn't really expecting much, but I was reached out to by their marketing director, who was not only very kind and apologetic for the mistake but also offered me a gift card. I was impressed by this level of customer service and the fact that they actually care when someone has a bad experience, while also trying to make it right. I was in the area today and decided to try them again, opting for a late lunch. I ordered ahead and my Thai chicken salad was ready when I got there. I didn't catch the name of the employee who greeted me at the door but she was shorter in stature with glasses and brown hair and was very smiley! She seemed genuinely excited to welcome people into the restaurant and that's always a pleasant surprise in this day and age. The food was also delicious and I appreciate that they didn't skimp on the chicken in the salad. Overall, I would say they did a great job with making my second experience here an excellent one and also being very responsive in terms of customer service and experience. So crowded- like they were giving away free food. Oh wait - they were! We signed up for the 1:30 time slot to get a free entrée and when we ordered we were told we would get $15 off. Meals for the 3 of us came to just over $2. Great deal for high quality food. All of us had sandwiches and they were all very good. The chicken was very large and the toppings were plentiful. My sandwich got pretty soggy though (maybe the barbecue sauce) and a lot of the breading fell off. Also the bun got all squished and soggy. That said, the sandwich was very good. The fries were also very good but could have been crispier. I loved the drink selection and the real cane suger sodas. Also they had paper straws and recycle and landfill waste bins. The seating area is sized on par for a fast food restaurant and it was very noisy. But it is bright and clean and well staffed with friendly employees. I grabbed a to-go order of the Japanese chicken tenders and the okonomiyaki fries. The fries weren't seasoned past the first layer and most of them were soggy. The chicken was pretty good, there was just a lot going on with the sauce. Maybe too much. I thought they would taste more like fried chicken and okonomiyaki in Japan, but they didn't. This isn't your average chicken restaurant. The choices and options for food and drink aren't vast, but there is a great variety. The restaurant itself is clean and cute with great parking, which can be hard to find on Colorado Blvd. You have the choice of ordering by kiosk or with a friendly real life person (lol). I went on a Thursday afternoon at 3:30 so there weren't many people in the restaurant but I had quick and friendly service. Feel free to ask for the staff's recommendations because they are happy to help you decide what to try. I ordered the 4 piece sweet Thai glazed tenders, the elote street corn, and a mango green tea. Everything was delicious! The chicken tenders are large tenders that are juicy and flavorful. You get your choice of 2 side sauces and I loved the honey mustard and the Thai herb aioli! The elote corn was perfect because it wasn't drenched in a sauce and the flavor of the corn really came through. It was a bit spicy for my liking but still really tasty! The mango green tea... Bright and fresh. Upon entering you are hit with a blast of light and yellow. It's very clean and well organized. Staff was very helpful for a first time visitor. She recommended sweet Thai glazed tenders and the Brussel sprouts. Unfortunately I went w neither. I selected the Big Star chicken sandwich, a side salad, and drink. I was very impressed w the chicken sandwich. So fresh and flavorful. I was less impressed w the side salad only because there was a large amount of shredded cabbage and a small amount of romaine lettuce. If the proportions were better the salad would have been better. I loved the cane sugar sodas - so much better than traditional corn syrup sodas. And the house crafted beverages were excellent - my favorite being the pineapple limeade. I can't wait to return and try what the employee recommended as well. The lemonade and iced tea are made fresh so a must! Some prior reviews said the food was bland, however, in my opinion it is refreshing to eat fast food that is fresh, flavorful and not overly greasy, heavy, or salty - flavor is added with all the amazing sauce selections! The sandwiches are sizeable and tasty. The chicken moist and cooked well. My sandwich was messy but what would you expect from a Nashville hot.... The brussel sprouts were good and the fries decent but a little salty. Their sauces stand out. I opted for truffle aioli and my wife the herbed aioli. It was nice that who was presumably the manager went around to each table to check on their experience. Their nuggets are great and you can choose from several different sauces to dip. The favorites are the star sauce and Greek yogurt ranch for the chicken and truffle aioli for the fries. Plus they don't charge you for extra sauces. Their salads are delicious too and they come with the crispy chicken on top. Their fountain drink area has house made lemonades which are really good.
