I was at Mabuhay getting my lumpias for a party and was excited to see Starbread Bakery- now I don't have to go all the way to Pittsburg anymore! These darn yummy soft breadsticks are quite addicting!!! I don't know if anyone else has this in the morning for breakfast, but this is a nice breakfast for the kids or adults with nice chai tea on the side or warm milk. Heck, great for afternoon tea or any time of the day bc you will be munching on them! Oh my and those sugar coated plump round donuts with strawberry or raspberry filling or custard- oh my goodness! Yummy better than any donut at other places bc it is so pillowy soft. I cannot get out of there trying the other items too so I end up buying a lot! I got the empanadas- this is a bit different than Spanish ones which seem fried( good also), this one is baked with a slightly sweet harder crust- good picadillo inside! There is also a version with soft pillowy bun with picadillo inside- I liked this one even better bc it was soft, but both are good! Pineapple, cheese and ham in a bread roll thing was ok. The garlic peanuts were also under the addictive category. Biscocho is like small hard toast buttered and sprinkled with sugar which I would think( at least what I did!) to dip it into coffee or chai. Kind of like a rusk taste/feel and not like biscotti as the name may suggest. This was ok- maybe something for breakfast, I think by the time I tried everything else I was done with sugar for awhile lol! I may have preferred this as plain actually but this was just ok for me and I probably won't get this one again. I just wanted to try the different things they had available. Their coffee machines have not come in yet for their fancy coffees but I like my black anyway so I was fine on a chilly day getting my black coffee to offset all that sweetness! Note kids love that Starbread! Very clean and friendly staff! I see those Best Bakery signs given by Brentwood Press and voted by the citizens. I hope they bring in the lumpias, especially the vegetarian ones which I really like and go all the way to Pittsburg for! They said they can cater lumpias too which is good! They don't want to open it as a cafe with seating due to liability reasons they said- too bad bc this would be a nice cafe to meet up with friends! Suggestion: Maybe add boba drinks and little appetizers like fried chicken wings or deli takeout with chicken adobo? I know I would like that, but maybe competition with Mabuhay. read more

AMAZING. This is such an incredible bakery and the prices are great. It's easy and clean. My only criticism is mostly just a warning to others. Besides a few of the employees it's a pretty openly religious place. They play gospel music and videos all day on a loop. It's their shop so it's fine but my warning is for the lgbt community and for my fellow girlies who love a good mini skirt/crop top vibe. There's some staff who are not judgemental and are kind. BUT that's not the case for all of them. If you are really sensitive to judgment maybe have a friend go in to get the stuff. But if you don't care you'll be fine. Worth the wait!!! Two things: First, I am a teacher and one of my very thoughtful parents dropped off a delivery of warm starbread to me on a random weekday to show me some love! Well I had never heard of starbread, but this sweet little treat felt like a very big treat and made my whole week! Second, from the first bite I was hooked on the stuff! What is it exactly? I don't know, but I do know that it is amazing! I visited the shop on Saturday morning at 8:00 am with a friend. We waited in line for about 45 min. Service was friendly and polite. There are lots of little treats to try out. Today we got an order of 35 starbread and some ham and cheese. We ate satisfied with the Starbread experience. They appear to have solved their initial problems with lack of inventory of the hot buns. At times we've waited 30 mins to an hour for the buns. Thank you for the apology and swift response in the matter. ******** I'm sharing this review mainly because of customer service. This happened today at 5/12/23 at around 2pm. My wife ordered 30 pieces of senorita bread only to find out she had received 20 pieces. Now, this could have been an honest mistake that could have easily been resolved, but the person on the phone decided that hanging up and claiming she wouldn't make that mistake was the best way to address the problem. See, an extra 10 pieces isn't much money. When someone calls in to share they are missing 1/3 of the order, I suggest you either just give the few extra pieces or even give a partial refund. You can even politely say you can't grant that request because of policy. Instead, you decide to be rude and choose to be disrespectful to a mom of a 3 year old. I really love starbread. In fact, I've always tried my best to share the love of this bakery through corporate events. It's unfortunate that the few people like this cause such displeasure that my whole family will not be coming back out of principle. This review won't hurt the company much. In fact, I doubt any ramifications will occur. However, we want to say our peace to find some kind of justice. Please don't treat people badly. I thought I had left a review after my first visits to Starbread for their famous Senorita bread. Like most reviews state, it is delicious. I went back to buy a box of the bread as a gift for our neighbors, and what a great surprise to see cases of deliciousness. I had no clue all the different varieties of pastries that were now being sold. I bought more than a few to sample at home and there were no disappointments. Everything was fresh and delicious. I didn't know they were also selling savory rolls so I bought the corned beef hash and it was so good not a big bite but perfect with coffee in the morning. Their filled donuts beat any other bakery in town... Sorry Krispy Kreme you are out. I wanted to add that at the beginning there may have been a wait for the Senorita Bread...but that is no longer the case. I've never had to wait for bread. read more

My wife & I went there at 315pm. People are standing around waiting to what's going on. Some are there to pick up their order over the phone or online. The sign says closed, will return 106pm. Business hours 7am - 5pm on the website. No sign stating the hours operation on the window or door. People are shaking their head or mad. Purchased a 25 count senorita bread about 1pm today. Majority of them located at the bottom of the box are extremely stale. They mixed our box with fresher baked pieces and old ones. Heard this opened recently and decided to stop by this morning in case there wasn't a wait. Great timing since there was only one person ahead of me so I was in and out in around 5 mins or so. Left with some hot and freshly baked Señorita bread and it tasted amazing like I'm used to from one of their other locations. So glad they came to Brentwood! I hadn't read reviews before I came here--apparently they encourage people to order ahead online but luckily I stopped by early enough that being a walk-in wasn't a problem. I went in to grab my neighbors some pastries as a thank you gift. I didn't wait long as there were several other people there. They still had a good selection at 12pm, which I was worried about. While checking out, the woman at the counter asked if I wanted any bread. I said sure, why not. Omg, it is so good. I ate all 5 rolls before I got home. I live less than 5mins away.
