Great to find a Starbucks on Bainbridge Island. Great friendly staff and very good drinks.

Today is the very first day that Bainbridge Island has a full service Starbucks and it is now open to the public. We were the very first customers to walk through the door. The ambiance is warm and inviting as is the Starbucks Team. They have a very fancy coffee maker called a Clover. This is something that you should try at least once. It makes a unique cup of brewed coffee with any of the available flavors offered by Starbucks . I am told it is somewhat rare and not offered at many locations due to the very high cost of the equipment. The location is very convenient if you are heading towards the Bainbridge to Seattle Ferry. It's in the Safeway Rite Aid parking lot. There is ample and easy parking and access. This is a very welcome addition to the many exciting new businesses locating in Bainbridge Island, especially for us locals who look forward to their Starbucks coffee every day.

    One of the happy barista's.

An amazing new Starbucks in Bainbridge Island. The decor was designed to match the northwest and nautical feel in Bainbridge Island. They have their own Bainbridge Island blend which is unique to this location. They have a Clover machine as well and if you like coffee the baristas will explain to you how it works and how to get a great cup of coffee. Mornings can be busy, lunch as well with the school crowd. Afternoon is a great time with the sun out and the large patio they have. Highly recommend bringing your favorite deck of cards, Bananragrams or another great game to play. Oh they are right next to a pizza place and a yogurt shop, BONUS!

The well-stocked and delicious pastry bar.

Always friendly! It is a great local gathering place! The breakfast sandwich is an awesome favorite! And my dog loves the "puppucinno."

My quiche had undersalted eggs, strange-tasting cheese, and a crust that ate as if it were microwaved. And my brother didn't finish his mocha - which is just so rare for him - and he described it as Swiss Miss. On top of that, we waited a good 20 minutes for our disappointing food and drinks. The struggling sole person working the bar, the oven, and the register really needed a coworker. It was a typical cafe vibe inside. One guy taking a FaceTime, a party of 10 rekindling old connections, and couples spending their morning together.

Plenty of warm (and cold) drinks, and a reasonable breakfast and lunch menu. You order at the counter, but they will bring it to your table. Cons: I ordered a sandwich--the turkey BLT--which was okay, but just okay. On non-descript wheat bread, bagged lettuce (which was a little wilty), and a round of processed turkey. Bacon seemed reasonably freshly cooked, however. Upshot: nice place to hang, especially with a warm beverage in hand. I would go again just for that, and likely will. As for lunch--which, granted, I only tried one of their sandwiches--there are much better sandwich options on the Island.

We were on the fence on whether or not this would be enough food initially and contemplated ordering more food but I'm glad we did not. The spread of eight different poke bar items -- 3 varieties of ahi and Atlantic salmon, one scallop, and one tako, was more than enough to fill us up. The fish here was all really fresh tasting and properly prepared. There wasn't a single bite that was stringy or tough to chew. I also liked that none of the poke were overly salty. During a recent visit to Hawaii, I found that most of the poke I had there needed to be eaten with rice because they were so over-seasoned. Glad to see that was not the case here! From the bento box, my favorite item was tied between the scallops and one of the salmon pokes topped with an aioli. If you're visiting Bainbridge Island and are looking for a delicious lunch, I would definitely recommend checking out Hi Life.

In…read morefact, it's almost a given that when I encounter a tasty pie or pastry at a friend's house on Bainbridge, when I ask, it's almost a given that it came from Blackbird. They're expensive, but the old adage "you get what you pay for" definitely applies to Blackbird. You may pay more than you might somewhere else, but their quality is exceptional. Today I stopped by for one of their quiches--their spinach and goat cheese--and a lemon blueberry scone. Both were super yummy. I often get one of their chais too, which are also quite tasty (and not at all dry, a common problem with scones). Having Blackbird downtown makes it quite convenient to just stop by while on the way to elsewhere. But sometimes it can be a destination if...you can find seating, which is at a premium most of the day.

It's clear this was the case for others as well, as there was a large line extending outside the door onto the sidewalk when we arrived around 10:00 a.m. I ordered their multigrain toast with jam along with a savory croissant. The toast comes heavily buttered and the savory croissant for the day was topped with the fillings you'd fine in a spanakopita -- i.e. spinach and feta. I really loved the thickness of the toast slice and the degree that they toasted it: soft and fluffy on the inside and crunchy on the outside. They did not hold back from including a bunch of seeds in the bread, and that added a nice texture in every bite. The jam is on the sweeter side, but I like that it's on the side so you can control exactly how much sweetness you want to add. The savory croissant had good flakiness to it, but it would have been nice if we had an option to have it toasted. Overall, very good bakery that I'd gladly visit again if I'm back on Bainbridge Island. Definitely get the toast.
