Last week I ordered my grande blonde flat white with soy, personal cup. I was reading while I had my beverage; eventually finished my drink and continued my reading. At some point a Starbucks "associate," or "team member," or " employee" came up behind me and said. "Sir, have you purchased anything this morning?" I ordered ahead using the Starbucks app so I can only speak to the pick up experience. I was staying at the Waldorf Astoria and walked to this Starbucks location as there was a nice walking path from the resort to this plaza. I ordered an iced Venti espresso drink and it was more than enough caffeine to last me throughout the day and night. The ordering process via the app was seamless and my drink was ready when I arrived. This Starbucks is located in a plaza right off of the PCH Highway so there is plenty of parking. It's honestly disgusting to eat or drink anything here. The coffee isn't worth the risk of being in such an unpleasant environment. I wish there is a negative number, I would like to give this Starbucks a "-5", but wait, there were 3 employees working, I would like to leave the gentleman and the lady with black hair out of the review. The person I would like to review is Jayne with blond hair. I really needed to use the bathroom to calm down and not get too carried away. But that request made it worse. She claimed that I was not a Starbucks customer. The funny part is that I don't know anyone who is not a Starbucks customer. Are we all? For all the great experience from other Starbucks, I am grateful that there is only one Jayne and she is only at the Starbucks in the Gelson's shopping center on PCH. As for the angry man, I am trying to forgive him for his poor understanding of the situation and his rudeness. I called Starbucks corporate and am waiting for the district manager to call me. Despite me being a Starbucks customer every single day, sometimes buying up to 3-4 drinks a day - I have received incredibly terrible treatment from numerous Starbucks employees. BUT, there are others who are simply wonderful! An I must say, they truly are special kind people. A Starbucks in Monarch Bay Plaza I often visit, a barista named Meredith, knew very well my dog and I came in every day , same time, for a Peach Tea, yet when I went to get a refill after I finished my tea on this particular day - she questions me and the staff if I had purchased a tea that day or if my cup came from the trash!! I come here and TIP, EVERY DAY! I had ordered my Original tea only 15 mins earlier with her standing right behind the counter, at the time I smiled to her in a "Goodmorning!" Acknowledgment. Which leaves me to believe her intent was malicious and to humiliate me in front of her jr staff. :( I always give $1.00 instead of the .50 fee , as I greatly appreciate Starbucks, but I was made to feel less than, as well as a liar and thief .. I told her how she made me feel and she did nothing. She has treated me poorly since, often whispering to coworkers when I'm trying to enjoy my drink and work. I was greatly disappointed with my experience with Merideth, as being discriminated against is never right, nor does it feel okay when I spend over $500 a month ON STARBUCKS. This is about the third time I encounter rude white/male staff member at this particular Starbucks. So I ask the barista if I could please just have a splash of sweet cream or a side (whatever is easiest). He quickly says "oh you usually have to pay extra for that"-- I said yes, I paid $1.25 for sweet cream already. Doubting my statement, he asks to look at my drink, glances at it, and says "oh yeah we can only give you a specific amount, and if you want more you have to pay again cause we are absolutely not allowed to do that sorry". This guy couldn't even maintain eye contact or take himself seriously while spewing this nonsense. I paid $1.25 for creamer, you gave me damn near none, and giving me more is going to break the bank? Came in today, 2 workers one white one African American. My friend and I ordered separately and I told the African American I wanted a venti mango dragonfruit and everything was well. When my drink came out it was a strawberry açaí and I politely told the white lady I didn't order this. She went to go look for the sticker and tells me rudely "well that's what it says on the sticker.". I like to come to this Starbucks because of the location. It is in the Gelsons shopping center..and near a gas station where I often get gas. They have friendly and quick service. They have always gotten my drink made right! This time I got the caramel waffle cone Frappuccino and it is delicious. I get my Frappuccino with non fat milk and half sweetener pumps. Rob got the iced coffee and was happy with his selection. The place has limited seating. It could use a good cleaning. The floors and tables were dirty. Perhaps they need extra help to keep this place up...it's definitely busy most of the times I've been here. I'm not a big fan of Starbucks but I can appreciate them to some degree. This is a quaint location with a great view of the beach. Seating can be limited during rush hour but customer service is excellent here. They greeted me with smiles and remembered my name throughout the entire order, checkout, and "pick up drink & breakfast" process. I ordered the zebra mocha (white chocolate mocha with chocolate syrup). It's my 2nd drink of choice next to the espresso truffle which is no longer served. I also love the fact that you can get breakfast here and it's pretty healthy too. My current favorite is the spinach feta wrap. While I still prefer other coffee shops, I can tolerate Starbucks when I need to. read more

My girlfriend and I heard about the new plant based breakfast sandwich. We were so excited to try (being that we're vegan) we went to two different locations. After the first location told us they haven't get them yet, we called the closest location to see if they would. They informed us they in fact had three of the sandwich's left, so thrilled with excitement, we rushed over. When we walked through the door all was normal, but the moment we asked about the plant based option that had just come out, we were pointed to the impossible breakfast sandwich which is vegetarian (contains eggs and cheese). When we kindly declined the offer, because we were curious to try the vegan one, we were told by the girl working that the non vegan one is the one we are looking for. As we continued to explain there is an alternative option, that is shown available on the Starbucks website. This is when we were treated with such rude manner. The Employee's name was EASA, pronounced (EASE- A). She essentially told us that we were wrong, and that "they would know about it" if there were such an option. At first we left flustered. Annoyed but not exactly upset. But as I thought about it, I became upset. I figured I would prove to them there is such an option, and that we should not have been treated in a rude manner for seeking it out. So I go back in, with the webpage pulled up, and even as I showed the employees that there was a separate option, 100% plant based, they continued to tell me that I was wrong and that it's the same thing. I couldn't tolerate the energy any longer, and left. Letting them know I just wanted them to be aware that there is such a thing. As I walked out they harassed me with sarcasm saying " thank you soooo much, you're sooo kind" in a very rude and sarcastic manner. At this point, almost out the door, I decided I would get there names, for the level of rude behavior and poor customer service just called to the Yelp heavens for a review. EASA and Jillian were the names they claimed were there's. With all being said, I feel they could have been more respectful and open minded to what we were asking for. They could have simply acknowledged there was an option they didn't have, and been kind about it. I will never go back to this location and I will make sure I speak directly to the manager about how uncomfortable I was made felt in this specific location because of mainly EASA, who was rude from the moment we asked about it.
