Rude, inattentive service, looks short staffed and just plain laziness. Either they should retrain employees or hire someone who can/care to work there. Store experience- was there after making mobile order. Waiting... Then I made store purchase at the store. Then my sister wanted a drink so I ordered again online. I see how my drink was getting made (incorrectly), Which happens all the time so I have given up already. But I see they only were making drinks for in store guests. I had to get their attention (which she ignore 3times out of 4.) She didn't even know there was Mobil orders and lied through her teeth by saying there's a wait on it. Ummm, I just saw you taking a bunch of mobile order stickers checking the order? Such a disappointment... unfortunately this is too close to my house, but I would have to find another location further to grab a cup of joe. I'd recommend going when no one is around. read more

So, we headed out early without coffee. I'm more of a decaffeinated tea person myself, but for my wife, coffee is a morning ritual. For her, it's like liquid crack, and she gets all cranky if she skips it. Luckily the location was close by, and shortly after downing the concoction, Mrs. Hyde turned back into Mrs. Jekyll. The seating area was clean, and so were the restrooms. The staff was friendly, and plenty of parking. Zero issues. read more

Today I was in Starbucks before 7 a.m. Only one person working so I stood in line to pay for my two egg and cheese plates and a Rex Hamilton 24 oz cup. Finally got to pay for my items and I asked for a bag and she went to get the bag and came back and threw the bag on the counter and walked away...like I was such a bother! I thought how rude! Food is good but service was not great and it was the stores fault for not having enough staff on hand to handle all the customers. read more

An average Starbucks. Easy enough to duck in for a caffeine hit or a treat. This is seating -- about 10 tables (one community table) plus 4 leather chairs to lounge in. Not a big Starbucks but accessible enough. Parking is easy with a shared lot. Easy walk right off of Central Ave. read more

Why is it so cold in this coffee shop?! Every time I'm in here my nose runs and I have to put my winter jacket back on. Today was no exception. In addition to just being uncomfortably cold, the barista gave me attitude because the girl at the counter taking orders accidentally forgot to state on the label that I didn't want sugar in my iced tea. It happens and it wasn't a big deal to me but obviously it was MY fault that she forgot to put it on the label and that she would have to make it over. I got news for her, it's the easiest drink in the place as it's 1/3 green tea concentrate ad 2/3's water. I really didn't need the hostility...it's iced tea for goodness sakes. Truthfully, this is most likely the last time I come in here. Highland Park deserves so much better. read more

This is a great Starbucks, mainly because the employees - every last one of them - are dedicated, friendly, efficient and knowledgable. They make it a pleasure to be here. The atmosphere is also pleasant. Music is generally kept at a low volume and is relatively neutral - sometimes jazz, sometimes classic rock. Nothing "edgy." More importantly, this location kept its Clover machine! For some reason, all the other Starbucks around here (Deerfield, Winnetka) got rid of their Clovers, which is sad. At this Starbucks, for a bit more money, you can order a reserve coffee of your choice with freshly ground beans. It makes all the difference, and is the best cup of coffee I've found in this general area. For $3, it's a bargain. The only thing negative I can say is that it does get quite cold here in the winter. I wish they'd install a revolving door. Other than that, no complaints. Thanks for keeping the Clover and for all your wonderful service over the years! read more

They ruined my Starbucks!!!! I used to love this place until they remodeled it and closed the Port Clinton one. Now, you can't see what you are reading, it's too crowed, and the noise factor is beyond control. I know a lot of people that have stopped going to this one for the same reasons. We all see each other at nearby Starbucks. It's a shame, because the crew here is THE BEST! They have the best manager (Johnny) ever. Pre-ordered with the app and they got the drink right! Came mid afternoon and it there were people in booths and tables working and chit-chatting. They have a little "bar" area and a gentleman was there waiting for his drink. I used to frequent this location but I just don't get into downtown HP so much. I do recommend this location when in HP! read more

This is pretty much your typical starbucks. Staff seemed very friendly and got my cinnamon dulci latte to me very quickly. My only complaint with my extremely brief visit was that I asked for light whipped cream and they gave it a good dousing which I didn't know until I left. Oh well it still tasted great :) I don't see this as a reason not to go back. read more

Standard, typical Starbucks. Why does this location get 5 stars as a chain overpriced coffee house? SERVICE. I had a gift certificate, so I stopped in on Saturday morning prior to my manicure to grab a coffee. When I go to Starbucks I get a Venti hazelnut latte with skim milk. This is not the same as a "skinny" latte, because a skinny late, in addition to the skim, would have sugar free syrup. I can't consume sugar free things. A lot of people mess this up, or try to correct me when I'm ordering, by saying "oh... you want a SKINNY latte." Close, but not quite. So, anyway, I got up to the register and ordered. The girl taking my order (I don't know if she's technically a barista, because she wasn't making any coffee, just manning the register?) said "okay, no problem. You do want regular syrup?" to which I replied, yes, and thanked her for clarifying. She was also very friendly and smile-y with other customers. A+ read more

If you're interested in trying to concentrate on anything - be it a conversation with a business associate or friend, a book, school project, or anything else requiring a moderate degree of focus - avoid this particular Starbucks. Otherwise, you will have to suffer the loud HP coffee-clatches, the afternoon throngs of riotous school children (I wasn't aware that the under-12-crowd ditched pizza for lattes these days) and its new permanent fixture: the "creepy" guy sat in the corner staring you down while eating slabs of Jewel deli ham out of a backpack with his bare hands. It may be "fun" for people watching, what with the "Real Houswives" wannabes and occasional Baller dropping in, but for me, sanity trumps the bizarre, and annoying. read more

"$15 an hour" is a joke for these employees. Wouldn't pay them more than $3 an hour the way they served us. Empty restaurant and couldn't even comprehend a simple order and every single item was messed up. Incompetent employees will be the end of this Starbucks branch. read more

This is about the only store hours: On the internet this location closes at 7:30pm on Friday. However, when I got there 7:00pm, they were closed already! It took me 15 mins to drive there and then they were closed smh! read more

The best aspect of this Starbucks is that it is not a drive through! Highland Park has had one drive through Starbucks for years but recently added a second. These are great for that quick cup of Joe on your way into work or to line up in car pool lane but the Renaissance Place location is more of your cozy neighborhood, where "everybody knows your name" location. This location is so popular as a neighborhood hangout that they often run out of seating space. In an effort to make the most of the space that they have there are a lot of hard straight backed chairs. It would be really nice to have more comfortable seating options. While this is by far my favorite local Starbucks, it does have its share of drawbacks including long lines, cramped quarters and an "accident waiting to happen" parking lot. read more

This is the worst run Starbucks I've ever been in. They can't even handle a pour over and insist you buy a clover at $1.40 more than the $2.45 pour over. Their customer service is horrible and the morning manager should get much better training in customer service. Tried reaching the manager. No phone number or email address available. Really? I come in here often. This is my local Starbucks! They don't know my name yet, but they certainly know my mug. It's the little things that count, right? I second another yelpers review, they do a really nice job the first time to get your order right. I don't have a real complicated order, but I come in with a friend who has some dietary restrictions and they always have her order perfect (which is apparently is rare for her). The only reason why this isn't 5 stars is that there is rarely ever a good place to sit. Starbucks should really consider expanding this location. There is a guy who works here, I think his name is Ed, and he always wears shorts. He always says something fun when I'm in this location. It really appears that he and the staff (for the most part) really enjoy their work. read more

I stopped by this location in early June for a pick me up after running a 5K race that's run every year in June in Highland Park. The place was packed with runners, spectators and local residents trying to get their coffee fix. The staff seemed very friendly and efficient. The line looked really long and intimidating at first, but moved quickly and would have moved even faster had a guy not ordered 8 drinks! The location is located in a really cute strip mall in downtown Highland Park and there are some restaurants, a theater and some shops nearby. Great location and would come back if in the area. Also, this is probably the only location where I can see a woman leave her phone, credit card and purse on the table and no one paid any attention to it AT ALL. Not that I recommend that anyone do that. But that tells you a bit about the location and clientele. read more

Slow for a Starbucks. Clean and large enough to fit several customers. Staff is fairly friendly and attentive. As customers we must always give service employees in Highland Park a bit of a break. Remember these poor workers have to deal with extremely arrogant and condescending residents of Highland Park and the surrounding suburbs. Many of these residents believe service workers are below them and treat them horribly. read more

Horrible time Here. I come here often before work and the employees have a bad attitude towards customers and are very Rude. I do not suggest coming to this Starbucks location. If your in highland park or north shore try out the one on Skokie valley road. I hope the employee that helped me specifically gets an attitude check or talked to by her boss. Very unhappy. As a side note my mom has had multiple poor experiences here with their customer service not being up to par. Went in on a Sunday and ordered a pumpkin spice iced coffee. Was told that the pumpkin spice flavor was out of season and they no longer had it. I nicely accepted this and got one of their holiday flavor in my coffee instead. This was on November 5th (middle of fall, when pumpkin spice season is in full swing). In the days following I have been to two other starbucks locations where BOTH locations were able to make me an iced coffee with pumpkin spice flavoring with no mention of it being out of season! Will not go back to this starbucks again. read more

I wish this place could get the old crew back because they were so helpful and friendly whereas these guys never smile and act like assholes when I make a special request. The old crew always got it right and almost always before I even placed my order. At this point, I go with the new Duncan Donuts that's in town. Wish I could give a 0. Not once have I been here where the staff has been any way respectful towards me or anyone for that matter. The manager needs to retrain or something because I think it's an issue when people are afraid....to get coffee...because of how rude the workers are. The drinks are often made right when it comes to my experience, but nothing tops the unnecessary attitude and such coming from the other side of the counter. If you have the opportunity to go to the location in Fort Sheridan, I recommend. People are 10x nicer. read more

Best Starbucks in HP. It's probably the busiest, which (to me) means that it's better than the others. My brothers friend works here and he makes me the best skim chais in the history of skim chais. I love them! It can be difficult to find a table, but who cares? Get your drink to go and wander around uptown HP. You won't be disappointed. read more
