This Starbucks location is one of my go-to's in the area. It's located right off I-90 in a small strip mall. The drive through is around the back and up front parking can be a bit difficult. Beyond this, the staff is always nice! I've gotten many kind messages written on my cups. I tend to order ahead on the app but the estimated order time is spot on. My drinks are almost always made correctly and the self serve counter is always stocked. The inside doesn't have a ton of places to sit and work but there is seating. If you're looking for a caffeine fix right before getting onto 90E or W, this is the perfect location for it. I ordered from the mobile app and picked up my cold brew via the drive thru window. My drink was ready once I got there and service was fast. I haven't been inside this specific location but from the looks of it it's a pretty standard Starbucks. It's also connected to a Jimmy John's if looking to grab some food too. I've always had good service thru the drive thru. I have one drink I love, but it's a long complicated one that I don't remember all the ingredients in. I like ordering in the spot as it is is freshly made that way. If I don't, when I come to pick up it tens to get watered down cause of the ice melting (at no fault of the staffs.) One day I ordered here and for the life of me couldn't get the order right. I was kinda frazzled cause the drink I like is very long to describe. The person in the other end of the drive thru was very patient, very upbeat and understanding. Never hurried me or never gave a hit of annoyance.... I don't know how hard core Starbucks coffee lovers order their complicated drinks over the drive thru.... But these workers are saints! Gosh darn saints! These guys are not friendly. Went in the morning to get my Caramel Macciado with soy milk. Moron person on the counter was too eager to go on a break so she entered the wrong drink in then, she double charged me and used up my free drink so I lost money worth 3 drinks. And then she asked for a tip! Really. That is not the worst they made the wrong drink and then I told him to fix it they took 15 mins to do so and still made the wrong drink. We had a need for a coffee on our way to our hotel and this Starbucks was nearby. We were passing through the area as we made our way home to Michigan. While Starbucks is generally not my favorite coffee, if it's convenient, I have no problem with it. To me, what Starbucks offers generally is decent coffee at a fair price and no surprises. In other words, you know what you are going to get...most of the time. At this location we received a friendly greeting as we glanced over the menu...even though we already knew what we were likely to order. Then we ordered a tall drip coffee we were good to go. The staff was nice and efficient in getting our coffee ready. The coffee itself was the normal Starbucks with the normal taste at the normal price; no surprises! read more

Worst customer service experience this morning. As if going to work wasn't already a pain in the butt half asleep. The attitude received this morning was the cherry on top to make me never want to go to this location again. There was this blonde girl working the window with the worst attitude I've received from this place. I ordered through the app (like I normally do at this location) and go through the drive thru, (again, like I do normally at this location). When I pull up to the window she asked "can I help you?" With this annoyed look on her faCe and tone in her voice I told her I was here to pickup the coffee I ordered, she then said "okay next time when we are this busy can you come inside" and proceeded not to let me say a word and handed me my coffee with a snarled face. Normally the service here is amazing (if you come in the later afternoon) and the coffee is normally really good. Today the attitude and the poorly put together coffee, is not worth me coming here again. All the Starbucks I've ever been too, the people were very friendly, very happy, and very welcoming. We come here frequently, haven't had a problem before but honestly someone should check in on the girl who was working the drive thru 8/25 around 9:30am. She might be having a bad day... because no way someone with that attitude was given a job in customer service. Not only was she less than thrilled to be working, she was barely listening to my order and repeated both items back to me wrong. I ordered a new drink with a milk alternative and without asking/telling me there was whipped cream. Though to be perfectly frank, I am uncertain if my generalized disdain for Starbucks has to do with my dislike of the overall bitterness of most of their coffee, or my rebellious nature towards corporate America. My visit yesterday morning was mainly due to the fact that I was running late and in desperate need for a caffeine fix. It was also late enough in the morning that they did not have a line that resembled the ticketing booth on your way into Soldier Field. All things considered, my overpriced latte did the trick nicely. It still had the aforementioned bitterness that I am not a fan of, but my barista was pleasant and cordial and they had me paid and out the door in short order. It would be hard for me to imagine a twilight zone type of reality in which I would become a Starbucks regular, but it does the job in a pinch. read more

Sarah always has an intriguing question or two that keeps me on my toes. I recently visited the same Starbucks on a Saturday early afternoon. As always I ordered in route via mobile app. When I entered I wasn't greeted with the same uniformly arranged "hello Marlo" but rather I approach and stood at the barista counter for what seemed like 2 min without any acknowledgement. I do prefer a locally-owned business coffee shop when I can get it, and I did prefer Caribou before they closed, but Starbucks has a very respectable cup o joe. I rarely get anything fancier than a black, blonde drip coffee. I found the in-out parking lot & drive thru to be a little difficult to manage. Coming from the north, you have to turn at the light by the Assembly, and cut thru the hotel parking lot. The drive thru line is not forgiving, and on busy mornings can wrap around the building, blocking many of the parked cars from leaving. There's a drive-thru 'bucks @ Higgins & Golf thats easier to manage, IMO. read more

Drive through has adequate room for cars but a bit awkward if you've parked on the side street and are trying to get to and fro the shop. I've seen moments where for whatever reason, the customer got the wrong drink; they redid the drink and gave a free cookie/voucher (?) as an apology. I love Starbucks but this particular location never has anything in stock even the house Pike coffee. Everyday I pass by to get a coffee and a breakfast or lunch sandwich. Every single day they are out of the paninis and breakfast sandwiches no matter what time of day I drive through. I still have not been able to try any of the new Paninis they advertise. So I started going to Dunken Donuts next door. They always seem to have what I want even though I would rather have Starbucks! The employees were unusually unfriendly today and seemed bothered by my question about decaf tea. I waited a long time at the window to get my drink, which I saw was sitting right there on the counter ready to go. The employees were laughing and chatting inside and finally opened the window to ask what I was waiting for again. When I reminded them of my order they grabbed it right from the counter where it had been sitting the whole time, no apologies for the wait or the fact that they were socializing while my order sat there. I go to this Starbucks on average twice a day. I've been living in the area for about 2 years now so I think I've gotten a pretty good idea of how this Starbucks is. Everyone who works here is a gem. Especially the young man Cristian! The workers never have an attitude, never rush me and always put me in a good mood. Out of all the times I've been here, they might of messed up maybe a handful of times each time apologizing and giving me store credit or redoing my drink right away! Keep in mind I've only ever been thru the drive thru, because I bring my dog, Sebastian, everyday. They always take him into consideration and get him a water or on the rare occasion a puppacino! I normally visit this Starbucks and they get my order right, but today I ordered a grande iced chai tea latte and a venti iced caramel macchiato. This is what I was charged for. When I got to the window to pay I received the iced chai, but I was then given a hot venti Caramel macchiato. I told the barista (name I don't remember) nicely that I ordered an iced one. She took the hot one back out of my hand and then made me an iced one which she then handed to me and it was a grande. I didn't want to make a scene that I ordered a large, so I told the barista thank you and left nicely. Please make sure you're giving customers what they order and are charged for. read more

Although the entrance is a little inconvenient (only reason they got 4 instead of 5 stars), it's on the left side of a very busy barrington rd. & I have to go left out of the joint (impossible.), I'm still a big fan.
