Never fails. I'll order ground coffee from this location, and it is consistently loosely sealed/ (re)packaged, with grounds all over the bag. I get home, and always have to anticipate a mess because there are grounds within the folds of the bag because the barista didn't down-tap the bag prior to resealing. Shouldn't coffee be stored in a tightly sealed bag? Instead I get it loosely crinkled, and messy- repeatedly. There's usually 4-6 baristas behind the counter- all with their heads down, doing one task, making no eye contact with each other or customers. He ordered a latte and I ordered a black coffee. Drinks came. All good? Nope. His latte had no coffee in it. It was MILK. Just milk. Pure white. He took it back up to the counter and was summarily told that of course they put coffee in it. They didn't so much as look at it to see it was just white. This isn't a big deal for most but if you work remotely then this place might not be a good all day option. Love coming to this Starbucks! Located in the middle of downtown. There is paid parking in the parking garage but, there is also some street parking available depending on what time you go. The staff is very awesome here! They have such a great energy and are always so friendly. They make you feel so welcomed. This location is usually very busy especially in the morning rush hours, but the staff work very hard to get all the orders done in a timely manner. We have never had an bad experience with drinks here and they seem to know how to fix orders that have been made different at other locations. I would definelty recommend this location! read more

This is my favorite Starbucks in downtown. What made me write this review is that one of their Barista came around with a sample of cold Oleato drink. At first I thought it will be some overly sweet coffee. Cold Oleato coffe is made with hint of toffee, nutty syrup and olive oil. Sounds weird right? But you have to try it for yourself. I couldn't believe how good it was. Olive oil really made it nutty and smooth. It was so good that I came the next day and tried the hot version. The hot Oleato didn't have the toffee syrup and made with oat milk but still had olive oil. It was also nice especially on a cool, windy day. read more

I was just so irritated from a previous morning's visit. I went bc of an email from Starbucks marketing that was sent to my account; placed a mobile order. It's near peak morning rush hour but the only barista handling mobile orders kept talking story with 1 customer then then the other 5-8 baristas are all handling 1 drink each and the cashier was an annoying dude who thinks it's ok to touch customer's food with bare hands. Like dude- it's just basic food safety stuff- you don't touch customers' foods with bare hands. You can hold a person's food bag and just move it around without touching it. Luckily it seems I was spared from potential food poisoning. Last time I'll ever order with this store. Plus they had the nerve to just be mocking me about "oh really, there's no cream cheese in there?"'and how I had to reach over on the left side of their counter for a little wooden knife to go with my bagel. Wow, the last update for this Starbucks was over two years ago? That seems crazy when there's so many people who come to this Starbucks in the morning and at all hours of the day. I'm actually surprised myself that I haven't written a review for here because I used to come here when I worked in Town several years ago. Now that I'm back in Town, I finally paid a visit to this Starbucks again located in the Bank of Hawaii building at the corner of Merchant and Bishop St. It's a very spacious Starbucks, but there's no sitting area as it gets pretty crowded and busy in the mornings. I normally just do Mobile ordering on the App, and pick up at the window. The baristas here are super efficient and pumps out orders very quick. I made an order while I was just outside, and my drink was ready when I walked in. So fast! I had instances where I ordered 10-15 minutes beforehand at other Starbucks and it wasn't even ready when I arrived. Overall, I like this location. It's convenient, even if you drive as you can park on the side and zip in and out. The staff is friendly and very efficient. They probably know the people who work in the area are usually in a hurry. read more

I like to go to this starbucks because it's close to the places I go for lunch in town. Although they have new employees that don't know how much to pour (once my pumpkin spice latte was less than 3/4 full) an experience employee explained it's bc the new employees are still learning to froth it, that sometimes it's too much and it looks full to them so just return to get it filled more. Since then my coffee has been filled fully. Because of covid, there's nowhere to sit, but I rather bring it back to my office to enjoy anyway. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Starbucks on Merchant Street. I stop in almost daily for my coffee fix. The baristas are very cheerful and friendly. It makes for an excellent way to start your day...or if you're having a not so great day, just stopping by for a cup of happiness always makes the day better. Since returning to downtown Honolulu for work, I have found this location to be very convenient. Mobile ordering in the Starbucks app is also brilliant! I put in my mobile order after parking my car in the mornings and when I arrive at this location, my drink is on the counter waiting for me. They have about 6 baristas working during the morning rush so everyone's food and drink orders come out quick. It's really good because everyone in downtown is trying to rush into the office with their morning coffee/breakfast. There have been mornings where they turn off mobile ordering because it's too crowded and so I just come back one hour later and order my drink in person with the barista. In the afternoons, if there is no Frappuccino happy hour or buy one get one special, this place is quiet. The baristas will talk to you while making your drink. This downtown Honolulu location is on Merchant Street, which makes it very centrally located for anyone working in or exploring the area. The hand full of times I've been here, it's usually pretty empty so there isn't a long wait for drinks. The line begins right inside the door with the counter on the right. Pickup is beyond that. There is a rear entrance leading directly into the office building as well. One benefit is dedicated outdoor seating off of the main room; you can only access these tables from the inside. Starbucks in general are nice trendy coffee shops. Be sure to download their app for easy ordering during peak times and to keep track of points for free items. The music selection is subdued as is the lighting; perfect to take a break from the heat or do some work away from home. For office events, be sure to ask about the catering size drinks. I ain't gonna lie bro, I don't drink coffee. Nor do I drink tea. I used to bring a 32 oz. canteen of water to work every day -- until I got sick that is. Decisions decisions: So I walked downstairs to get some tea. Seeing that I haven't drank anything from Starbucks since I was 15, I really had no idea what to order. Honestly, I flipped through the Starbucks app and all. Even asked a friend what she suggested, but I just wanted to get rid of this scratchy throat. Got it: In the end, I just stood in line, not knowing wtf I'm doing. And I was just straight up when it was my turn like, ""Yo, what... would be good to drink for a cold?" and the guy over the counter threw out some suggestions. I went for the Refresher. Thing really did not have a good taste... since it almost seemed like tea with menthol. However, being Chinese, we are the masters... of drinking tea that tastes like crap -- In the end we just say, "Is good foh you." So being that I didn't know what I was doing, I didn't ask for ice in my cup. Took about half an hour for the tea to cool down to a drinkable temperature. Conclusion: You may be thinking, so you liked the service, but hated the tea... why 5 stars? Bro, let me tell you. To make a valid suggestion is all I asked for. The refresher might've tasted like ass, but the functionality of that tea was good. He made an accurate suggestion after learning what I needed. That's what makes a business good. If I were to ask for their most popular drink, I'm sure I would've been happy with the taste. Again, I don't drink Starbucks often. This Starbucks is in a great location! Right on the corner of Merchant and Bishop, in the Bank of Hawaii building, it has ample inside room and small cute nooks of outside seating. The one thing that is difficult about this location is ordering. It seems that during the before work hours you may be better off walking in to order. More than a few times mobile ordering was either down, or they were too behind to keep up. Waiting more than 25 minutes when the app tells you a 4-10 minute wait while you are trying to get to work on time is quite frustrating. To make things just a little more frustrating is that the baristas do not communicate to the people waiting that there is something wrong with mobile ordering - even when the crowd by mobile pick up grows and grows. Don't get me wrong, the baristas here are top notch and work their butts off. If technology would just work with them all the time this location would be #1 in my book. However, when you do, you can do what I do: plug in your phone, do some business electronically, read the book you are currently on a mission to accomplish, and sip away at an icy cold, dark coffee. The baristas are a treat. Depending on the day you go, they tend to remember you, your usual order, and a pleasant smile to top everything off. I have never waited too long for my order, but your mileage may vary. The foods and drinks I have consumed here have been pleasant to the taste. I have never heard a complaint from the many business people who frequent here, and I, myself have never had a problem with the grade of assortments here. Everytime I've ever come to this location I usually get the worst service a Starbucks can offer. Idk what it is. But today really pissed me off. I normally frequent the location on bishop street. This is a great location. We were in port on a cruise ship and had to walk down to Walmart. We passed this store on the way and decided to stop on the return. It was a rainy day and they were not very busy so it was nice and quiet. I really enjoy visiting a Starbucks especially this time of year. They have my favorite The Pumpkin Spice Latte. Here we have just another Starbucks location in Honolulu, Hawaii that screams potential in the heart of downtown urbanity. Ever since I started to come here on Saturdays after working out at the 24 Hour Fitness nearby, I come here to chill out, have a trenta black tea lemonade, and re-charge my iPhone. This Starbucks is a little different from the others I normally frequent in Honolulu. While the ambiance here is always nice with a little pop music and some classical, I do feel at ease here whenever I come to Starbucks (in general) and this location is no exception. I do enjoy this Starbucks, especially because of the two chairs in the back of the Starbucks, which is very comfortable and you could spend hours here reading and checking emails while on Starbuck's Wi-Fi - powered by Google. The last time I was at this Starbucks, I arrived here on a brisk Saturday morning after a morning of playing Pokémon Go with friends in the area. I found myself wanting to do a workout at 24 Hour Fitness, then chill out and have a snack at this Starbucks thereafter before heading home. I usually come here around 12:30pm on Saturdays and sometimes it's usually packed, while some weekends it's not really. I do love the air conditioned ambiance and the wife signal is usually strong, so you can get work done or surf the web at your own leisure. While it's not a library, you can use it as such. Starbucks is probably better than a library, since you can buy drinks and food while you work. For the most part though, Starbucks is your multinational coffee chains that are a brand that is commonplace in everyday life. While everyone has different needs and wants, in terms of coffee, Starbucks remains the predominant force in coffee and how the master roasters have come to Starbucks for their beans and daily cup (or more) of coffee. For me, I stopped drinking coffee since December 2012 and only come to Starbucks for tea lemonades and frappunchinos. They do have assorted food items that seem overpriced, but they provide sustainance when you need it. I usually prefer the blueberry scone or their bar brownie. Some Starbucks locations, the brownie is very very soft, whereas other locations, it's dry and not soft or chewy. The overall experience here at Starbucks is always good and cheerful. While it can be average and just okay, I feel like this is a place to hang out and just relax a little before or after work before the commute home. Or if you are here on the Saturdays, it's nice to just chill here and listen to the music. I usually spend about 2 hours here for lunch and recharging my phone before heading out. They usually close around 3pm on Saturdays, so it was best to leave early enough before they kicked me out. This Starbucks location is nestled in the heart of downtown Honolulu, at 130 Merchant Street, near the First Hawaiian Bank and Bank of Hawaii main branches. Aloha Tower is a block or two away as well. While parking here is very scarce, best bet is to walk here, if you work in the area. Many people come here during the work week for their morning brews, so that keep Starbucks humming along. If you are like me, many bus routes come through the downtown area, so you can have your pick as to how you want to get here. Routes, 1, 1L, 2, 3, 6, 9, 13, 40, 42, 52, and 54 are among the ones that come to mind at the time of this writing. The baristas are usually warm and friendly. The service is done quick and done right. I do love the décor of this particular Starbucks though. For the most part though, the experience was good and I will keep coming here as long as I can. The 24 Hour Fitness is nearby, so you can work out there any time of the day and chill out at this or any Starbucks in downtown Honolulu for your refueling strategies. The food they serve is good and my favorite would be either the black tea or the green tea lemonades. I rarely get any frappuchinos anymore, since they're loaded with sugar. If you are a Starbucks junkie like me, come here and have fun with your favorite brew or your favorite drink. Sit down and relax. You probably will enjoy it, after a tough day at the office. 4.5. stars for the overall experience. 4.0 stars for the service and the ambiance. First of all, I do hope I'm reviewing the right Starbucks! (That one Starbucks location that has a door between itself and Jamba Juice.) Anyways! I really wanted a plain bagel, and the one I usual go to (because it's closer to the bus stop / campus) ran out! (So Starbucks at 1000 Bishop Street please have more plain bagels, por favor.) And yes, I walked the extra block just to go to this location, which is nice might I add and bigger than before. I guess they had some renovations? They had a lot of tables for people to sit at, unlike the Bishop location and I figured I might as well get a drink and have a seat at one of the tables. Also, as I was waiting in line, I tippy-toed and looked at the food they provided, and BAM, I spy with my little eye a plain bagel! There was a long line / a lot of people before me so I was getting worried that someone else might order the bagel before I got the chance! Oh the suspense! Nearing the counter I waited patiently and ordered my Cinnamon Dolce Latte (iced with whipped cream) and asked for a plain bagel, toasted with cream cheese. Yes they had one for me, so happy! The worker that took my order though seemed like he was new to his position which kind of annoyed me... eh. The other worker that prepared my beverage had to ask whether I wanted it hot or iced... um yeah... iced. Then as I got my drink, he forgot the whipped cream and cinnamon... meh. Maybe I'm just being picky. Overall, I like this Starbucks because it's so big and looks co clean with lots of seats to sit at. The workers, maybe they need more experience. I don't know. Friendly service, and decent ambiance and selection of packaged coffee beans/trinkets (e.g., French press coffee brewer, mugs, thermoses, etc.) to choose from (especially when you have lots of stars to redeem!) However, some downsides are abnormally long waits in the morning (recommend ordering ahead via the Starbucks app to save yourself some time during rush hour), and inconsistent pacing/preparation of certain drinks. I've ordered regular drip coffee before, which should be a simple pour and done deal while I'm at the register--yet, some baristas will provide it to you then and there, while others queue you with the other speciality drinks. This is my first visit and I am impressed with their efficiency and the fact they had everything I requested (as opposed to the location closest to my office). I was able to find seating at 10am and use the Wi-Fi before a meeting, which I appreciate. They make good use of the space to offer a variety of seating options. Where things went sideways was ordering a couple of breakfast sandwiches. First, they ordered the wrong ones....then they were out of the ones that I wanted (and that I paid for). Instead of being able to swap sandwiches, they had to credit my card, then debit it again. This all is in the middle of the morning rush. The financial transaction started to take on the same level of pain as buying a house. My recommendation...chill, listen to what people are asking for and check your inventory. simple, easy steps. However, even if I didn't work there, I prefer this location because it has a lot of seating. Likes: In the morning, the line usually is long and it looks intimidating. Depending on who's there, the line goes by pretty quickly because they'll take orders ahead of time and usually will have regulars' drinks ready, or ready to make. I like the way they make most of my drinks too. Dislikes: When they get new baristas, the line starts dragging. Because Starbucks is such a ubiquitous chain, it's usually the service and the consistency that I look for when I write a review.
