This tiny Starbucks was the worst Starbucks ever. It has illogical layout of drive thru lane with parking lot. I specifically asked for room temperature tea. Ok. They have hot and iced teas. How about yea no ice? When I got my order, it had ice. I asked employee to remove the ice. Thank goodness she filled it with more tea. Tea flavor was fine. But I wouldn't order it again because I could make it at home for less than that. Ok I was here with a friend. He ordered chai latte. Why is it so difficult to say it correctly and it has to be exactly CHAI LATTE. No other words before and after. The prep area behind the counter was dirty. They poured teas from dispensers. Stopped at this Starbucks planning to buy a drink, but I needed to use the restroom first. Since the door requires a code, I asked the employee at the counter for it. He asked if I was going to purchase something. I said yes. He then told me I had to make the purchase BEFORE using the restroom, and said it with an attitude. So instead of letting someone who is literally about to spend money use the restroom for 30 seconds, the solution was to deny the code and lose the sale completely. I've been coming here since before their new renovation and it definitely looks a lot better and more spacious/modern after the renovation. But there is always a huge drive-through line in the mornings and almost never any parking in their tiny parking lot. Since their drive through line is always so long, it also takes them a very long time to get your order ready. So I wouldn't recommend coming here if you are in a rush. I usually get their mango dragonfruit or double chocolate chip frappe, but this time since I was feeling a little sick, I tried their medicine ball tea. It is basically a combination of two of their teavana teas in hot water with honey and lemon. It's something to try if you are feeling a little under the weather. You could also get a venti hot water with this to help too. read more

WORST wait time out the 100+ Starbucks I've ever been to across the country. Definitely not the busiest either. Operation flow pretty much sucks here, I.E they will make 10 complicated drinks for a single order before they brew ONE single espresso. Your bakery item comes out immediately while you wait 10-15 extra minutes for your one drink. Just know your EST pickup time is NEVER accurate. Any positive reviews is a joke. Point 1. The staff is extremely friendly and work their hearts out. = A star. Point 2. The location, arrangement, drive through and parking is a bear. = No star. Point 3. They are often out of products. = No star. Point 4. They had what we ordered on that day. = A star. Point 5. Understaffed so you can expect a longer wait. = No star. In summary, they do what they can, are nice to you and do have a following. I will be stopping by every couple of months as that is the only decent Starbucks in that area when I have to leave in the early morning. There is vast room for improvement in speed, but you can only do so much with limited staff. I will be revisiting, and I fully expect for it to increase a star in the future. In September 2018 I mentioned in a review that the cake pop I ate and thought was uncooked, but for the mere fact it was cake dough and frosting, I continued consuming the small treat knowing it was good. Starbucks is so standardized these days it is the gold standard for the effete enthusiasm attached to conspicuous consumption of the upper middle class and instagram accounts everywhere. That is to say, I had $6 burning a hole in my pocket and it was cold out. You can't buy a sweater for $6 so that was coffee money now. Done and done. The Starbucks website lets you filter out search results for drive-thrus and other things. Apparently this was closer than the one on Shepherd, and the one on Kirby is just not dealing with since it takes longer to get out of the drive-thru queue and back onto a traffic jam on Kirby than it does to drink a venti half-heartedly. The last time I did Kirby I got two drinks because the first one was finished before I got onto Kirby; and the second finished before I got back to my office. Then I just ran around the tower in circles the rest of the afternoon. I could not do a repeat of that day on this day. This Starbucks had a small and entirely filled parking lot so minor panic. But then pulling into the drive-thru only one car in front of me so no panic. The guy on the intercom corrected me about what they have and do not have - different than in other cities but okay, looks like Starbucks is not that standardized? Anyway order finalized. Drive around to the window. Paid. Coffee handed over. Transaction complete and back to work. I give Starbucks a lot of my money when it comes to traveling on the road. I prefer the brand over many others due to its consistency with a quality product, service, and locale. Two words: good luck. I say good luck because the parking area is so tiny that you'll be lucky to either get a space, or get out of one. This location was built strictly for drive-thru service. Even with the drive-thru service (as slow as molasses), don't be surprised to see traffic backed up into the road. I know that this is a busy location, but seriously? This is Houston. Get a move on with consistent service, and keep it going, okay? Second, the employee attitudes. Really, folks? If you don't want to be here, don't show up for work. I jokingly mentioned to one barista that he looked out of it, to which he just said that he was "just tired". Meanwhile, the manager is a few feet away doing whatever paperwork she is doing, not attempting to help out her employees during a semi-rush on a Thursday afternoon. I guess the bad apples don't fall too far from the tree, huh? The place is so-so clean. I expected the bathroom to be trashed (it was), so I had to sidestep away from the many folks that peed on the floor, just because. Oh yeah, I love the fact that it takes about 10 minutes to make an expresso. I mean, you hit a button on the machine and put a cup under it!!! I guess that its a bit hard here. One advantage that this Starbucks has is that its just down the street from Reliant-NRG stadium where the NFL's Houston Texans play. I finally came back because I mapped myself to the wrong Starbucks. The good thing is my wait went down to 12 minutes. Still not good. They are understaffed. This location was recently renovated and the new interior looks very modern and sleek, and somehow makes the entire store feel much more airy. From my previous experiences, the service here has been friendly, but slow whether I order inside or at the drive-thru. This location is definitely not a grab-and-go type of ordeal. Make sure that you have time to spare when you come here, because it's always a hit or miss for how long you'll wait. Sometimes it's 1 minute, sometimes it's 10, and this is during slow hours. If you desperately need your Starbucks fix during peak times (mornings, traffic hour, etc), save yourself some time and go to a different location. The lot is really small, so there's usually limited parking and cars tend to get backed up in the drive-thru line. Other than the service speed, coffee here is comparable to any other Starbucks I go to! I haven't had a problem yet with my drink order! read more

I had a very bad experience yesterday (6/30/2020), considering the climate right now with Covid. I still feel quite violated and decided I would write a review since I called several times today and no one answered the phone. Who is the Starbucks contact for this location? I drove to this NRG location but prefer to order via the app. The app said they were out of the iced cloud macchiato, which usually means that need to order at the window. So I ordered a caramel version at the drive thru, not in advance via the app (this is important). I only waited about 7-8 minutes to receive my drink. This is when it got weird. They handed me a watered-down version that didn't even look like the drink that ordered (no signature white cloud, seemed over stirred). I hesitated to take it but I didn't want to hold up the drive-thru. The first sip: disgusting. Then I noticed that the ice was melted! Strange because I just ordered this drink. I became almost nervous as I started to think of how long the drink was on the counter before they handed it to me (Covid) and also, how many people touched the drink or maybe even sampled it (Covid). Then, before you know it, I was practically having a panic attack. I tried to call at least 10 times throughout the day and no one would answer. I am going there tomorrow because I am sleepless at this point. As a consumer, there's no worse feeling. Ugh. Be careful out here yelpees. And word of advice, don't be afraid to hold up the line.
