My usual Starbucks drink is a cold brew coffee. I'm not gonna nitpick over inconsistency in the amount of cream from one location to the next, but this location 9 times out of 10 when I order a cold brew, I get an iced coffee. Two things on this: 1, they taste nothing alike. 2, cold brew is more expensive than the iced coffee. I think the iced coffee tastes awful, which is why I buy the cold brew. I usually don't frequent this location because of this, but today I stopped in there out of convenience. I ordered my usual and I watched the "barista" pour my coffee out of a pitcher she pulled from the fridge. She handed to me, I took a sip, looked at the tag on the cup that says cold brew and asked her if this was cold brew or iced coffee. Her response was to ask me, "Oh, did you want cold brew?" I told her yes, handed her the cup and told I wasn't gonna drink that because it tastes like poison. read more

This has to be the slowest Starbucks I've been to. Not only was it in the evening that we came to this one, but we waited in the drive thru line for over 15 minutes. Upon entering the drive thru line, there were maybe 4 or 5 cars ahead of us, which isn't much. read more

I just had the worst experience at this specific Starbucks. (1) it took over 30min just for me to get one white chocolate mocha iced, Venti (2) when I pulled up to the window they had me wait another 10min. As I was waiting, I watched the employees and noticed they weren't wearing gloves. They were being super unsanitary and touching everything. As we all know covid19 is not over and this Starbucks really grossed me out. The boy at the window, Vincent, shrugged his shoulders at me when I asked him, why they weren't wearing gloves and why they weren't being more cautious and sanitary. I'm so disappointed in Starbucks, especially this location because it's on a main road in Houston. I do not recommend going to this location at all. Overall not a bad Starbucks experience but some of the slowest service I've had. It seems that they give preference to drive thru orders, so that may be the way to go at this location. Other than that the baristas seemed friendly enough, though I wish they would have asked if I wanted to use my reward drink before it expires. If I could give zero stars to this location I would. As a regular at Starbucks I can say my experience here is not a good representation of how the company works. I walked in on a Saturday, and only three people were working. Of the three, only one was competent. It took me FIFTEEN minutes to get my drink... And when I received it, it was not the drink I ordered. She rudely told me that that was my drink and I had ordered it. I did not argue because I was not going to wait an additional 15 minutes. I will add that there was a woman in front of me who said she had been waiting for 18 minutes. I understand that you are evaluated based on how long people wait in the drive thru, but customers who take the initiative to come in to place their orders don't deserve to wait for nearly 20 minutes. I hope the manager reads this and hires some people who aren't afraid to move a little faster. Some of the employees need not only an attitude adjustment, but need to be re-educated on the values of Starbucks/customer service. read more

This intersection has THREE Starbucks at it! *cue creepy monastic Latin chanting* MUAHAHAHAHA!!! Yes, folks, lest you forget: this Starbucks sits next to a Barnes & Noble. In it sits a Starbucks. I consider Starbucks to be a 3-star chain. This location would be Starbucks+1. I generally go out of my way to get here. Why? The staff here is pretty friendly, and they seem like real people rather than cookie-cutter baristas. Because it's a standalone building, it has a lot of windows so is very bright and open. The layout is very comfortable. They make the best Passion Iced Tea in town, which is the main reason I go to Starbucks. So, of the 10 or so Starbucks that I've been to in Houston, I'd put this as #1. Repent. The end is nigh! read more

I wonder how many other cities actually have two Starbucks at the same intersection, literally right across the street from each other. It really is quite surreal. I call them the "Parallel Universe" Starbucks. But it seems to work... the two locations play off each other well. This--the newer one with the drive-through--has become my favorite Starbucks in town (a close second being the one on Shepherd across from the Bookstop, which is more laid back, better for studying). The coolest, funniest people work here, and they have one of the smoothest-running drive-throughs around. It also has a really nice patio, where you can relax and wave at people at the Starbucks across the street. And of course there's always good people-watching. A friend of mine calls this location "Whorebucks" because of the no-holds-barred posing that goes on in here during peak hours. read more

The service is always cheery, and the store itself is always neat and tidy - one of the cleanest dining rooms in Houston as far as Starbucks goes. Came in here after Cheer comp with my son. Standing at the counter a woman came to me with garbage in her hand, sat it down and took my order. We ordered a grande mocha Frappuccino, venti iced green tea latte and a chocolate croissant. She put the croissant in the oven and continued to take out her gar age. PS it's only 5:30 at this point. Not closing time. My iced green tea latte came out and then they handed me a hot mocha. I said "we ordered a grande mocha frappe" and the person behind the counter let out a huge sigh and rolled their eyes at me. As if it was my fault garbage lady didn't take my order correctly. I went to this Starbucks last Friday night because the one across the street was closed (apparently it closes an hour earlier than this one). The one across the street is usually more convenient and I just think it looks prettier from the outside. It was very crowded for 11 pm on a Friday night; it took a while to find a seat for my party of 3. It also took a while to get a barista to actually take our order. I think they were busy with the drive thru. Ever since Starbucks started serving that particular brand of baked goods (I forget what it's called), their display case sometimes looks tacky. Everything is in a plastic wrapper.... I'm sorry, but that doesn't look appetizing. Let's at least pretend this isn't a pre-packaged, mass produced, food object. Unwrapped items at least let us tricj ourselves into thinking they're fresh-baked. Guh, Starbucks. Nonetheless, my brownie was delicious. Would I go to this Starbucks again? Sure. According to Lewis Black (comedian on the Daily Show), this is where the world ends. Two Starbucks across the street from each other. So here is why they actually need two Starbucks across the street from each other. They are both very different. This Starbucks has a drive thru. They also have a great outdoor seating area that makes you feel like you are in a garden because of all the bushes. I really enjoyed it. There is always shade either under the Starbucks awning or an umbrella (shade is very important to me since I am as white as they come and burn every time I'm in the sun for more than 10 minutes). It is also big enough that if someone is smoking you can get away from them (sorry smokers, studying is bad enough without stinkiness around me). The inside is nice. Lots of tables for studying. The baristas can be a little rowdy, but it gives some excitement to your day. One of my friends had a barista notice she had been there for longer than 5 hours so she got a free drink. All in all a solid Starbucks, see my other review to find out if the other Starbucks is better for you! This is one of 3 Starbucks locations located on the same street intersection. (The drive-thru is across the street and the third location is inside the Barnes & Noble bookstore.) I've been coming to this location for years since my office is located down the street. The staff is always so friendly and work quickly to take and provide orders for everyone. Word to the financially cautious out there, bring your own cup so you can help save the planet yet also keep your drink hotter and save you money. It's Starbucks. It's pricey, corporate coffee, but it's consistent and good. It's also directly across the street from another Starbucks, and next door to one located in the adjacent bookstore (yes, really). This one has a drive through that doesn't require me to cross a lane of traffic to order, which is the reason I go there (I know--it's hard to believe our species still survives). Granted, you have to learn a new goddamned language just to be able to order in the proper corporate newspeak vernacular, but paradoxically, even for people too lazy to change lanes to buy drive-through coffee (and certainly far too busy to make it themselves with their three hundred dollar automatic coffee makers), that's apparently not too great a sacrifice. So, buy a copy of Rosetta Stone how to order coffee from Starbucks, listen to it in your car, and I'll see you at the drive through. Came to this particular Starbucks over the weekend to meet up someone and do my usual talking-someone's-ear-off-about-the-ex babble. I usually don't hit up this particular Starbucks, but it was close proximity to where he and I were both coming from, and so we met up there on a whim. The parking kinda blows since there's construction going on within the drive-thru area. I can imagine how packed this place is during the weekday. But for this particular Saturday, it was fairly empty and easy to find a spot. It does have a good patio area where you can just watch all the buzz from the cars whizzing through the west gray/shephard area. I can't speak of the "people watching" quality since I was pretty distracted that day, but I'm sure during the weekdays it could get interesting (due to the location). The Starbucks baristas were very cheerful, and greeted me very warmly. My drink came out fast and was delicious. The restroom was large, and fairly clean. There are an ample amount of tables and so many interesting people that walk by. I guess someone higher up in the company felt this area justified having 3 starbucks. But they always seemed packed. I'm usually not very picky with my service in general- I'm easy to please. However, there have been MULTIPLE times that I have ordered a drink with soy milk and regular milk was used instead. Having a dairy allergy makes this beyond frustrating- especially since I only use the drive through at this location! It's on my way to work- so I do not have time to turn around and get a new coffee- and we all know Starbucks isn't cheap! So there goes $7 down the drain- not happy... Your staff needs to pay more attention to their orders- I understand that you need to move the drive through line quickly- but you can be dealing with food allergies here people! come on! read more

This property needs to be reported to the health department. I went to use the restroom. Restroom 1 was gross, so i went to restroom 2. there was no toilet paper, no soap in the dispenser, no ventilation for the bathroom. It was bad enough for a customer but it made me wonder how a person who works there washes their hands and what they carry out of the bathroom when they serve coffee. I always receive excellent customer service at this location. All of the baristas are so friendly and helpful. Rhonda, In particular, was so courteous and kind. She worked hard to get my order out quickly. She was very patient when I asked questions about the menu. The man that received my payment at the drive through window was so upbeat and positive despite being so busy. I was impressed! I enjoy coming to this location. So I was telling my daughter that I need to go find a place to study, because, although I live alone, I can't study at home. So her and a friend tell me "Oh...there's that B&N at the corner of Shepherd and W. Gray?". After circling up to the 3rd floor of the parking garage I made my way into Barnes and Noble and to my surprise BAM!!! There's a Starbucks in here too...WTF??? But please understand my excitement was not so much for the THIRD Starbucks, but because only the Starbucks INSIDE of B&N stores have the QUICHES! Mother's Day of this year I was at the B&N in The Woodlands and at that Starbucks I had this delicious Southwest Quiche. I have been looking for it at every Starbucks in the Galleria area since then. Alas, it was not to be found until today! So ONLY for that reason do I give the Starbucks inside of the Barnes & Noble a great rating. But if I found out that the other two sister sites or one closer to me on Memorial Dr has the quiche, I'm out and altering my dedication. It's all about that quiche baby!!! read more

I stopped by after work for the Frappuccino Happy Hour. I got a little nervous when I ordered the new Birthday Cake Frapp and the barista did not know how to make it. However, the manager did based on the recipe, and I was quite pleased with how it turned out! I guess I was the first customer to order it on their shift. No wait and friendly attitude. I give them 4 stars because the SBUX employee told me he just started his shift and wasn't sure what was going on today. He also did not warm up my pastry. Overall it was a good experience. Considering how short staffed they are all the time and how high volume of a store it is (they see well over 1,000 customers a day, especially on the weekends), I can tell that they try to get drinks and food out as fast at they can. Most of the time I've seen the person on drive-thru literally run to the oven to heat up food, run to grab a bottled drink, yogurt, boxed juice, etc. all while taking another customer's order. I have see them search high and low for a food item that a customer wants. Lastly, I've witnessed the barista breaking a sweat as they crank out drinks as fast as they can. Speaking of drinks, theirs are always made to standard or made just the way a customer likes. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because they need more staff during their busiest times in the afternoon and on the weekends, this is the primary drawback of this store. read more

This Starbucks was a welcome relief. It satisfied my must-have caffeine craving and provided my tummy with a little sustenance to keep it from growling at me. After being told by the wannabe hipster employee in the be all-end all of hipster Barnes and Nobles located next door that their B&N doesn't take Starbucks cards, I trekked across the parking lot to this Starbucks location. What I found inside were friendly and efficient employees who were happy to serve me up a delicious slice of pumpkin loaf and make a perfect Caffe Latte. This place is one of the busier Starbucks and you'll need to know what you want when it comes your time to order. There are tables located indoors and out and on nice days these seats fill up quickly. Several people were studying and/or busy on their laptops both inside and out. Despite the busy flow of customers through this Starbucks, the noise level inside was low. This location seems to offer some different coffee in bags and K-Cups that I've not seen at other Houston area Starbucks. I'll definitely come back here to check them all out. This Starbucks does have a drive-thru which isn't a bad idea for the area since parking for any place around here is little to nonexistent. I made the right choice in coming over to this place to get my coffee fix. I'll now make this a regular stop when I'm in the area. read more

Out of the 3 Starbucks on this corner, the one on the south side of West Gray is truly a neighborhood Starbucks. They start fixing my drink when they see my Commander pull in the parking lot. ( And I'm not the only one.) This Starbucks has almost a "cheers" like feeling about it. My daughter has practically grown up here. I love the blending of classes and cultures, the dogs, the sounds of various languages and the smiles. This is the place to go! read more

I just viewed a sad display of Starbucks pluck. A man ordered a bold drip coffee. He was told that it would take five minutes and he said that he would wait. After five minutes and a wait in the long line, he arrives about 12 minutes later. He ordered bold coffee and the man served him up a Pikes Place. When he mentioned that he asked for bold, the man said that he had none. The shenanigans continued with a young man who seems to be the manager basically telling the gentleman to take his coffee or wait for four more minutes ... oh, and, 'What do you want, some pastries?' No attempt to explain anything. I think that Dirks, Cafe Infusion, House of Coffee Beans or anything is better than putting up with little rich children playing store. The Starbucks in question is on the south side of W. Gray -- this all occured around 12:30pm. There were three persons 'attending to' customers and a washer in the back. read more
