I was stuck in Kew Gardens for jury duty a couple of months back, and perhaps I'm spoiled working in Manhattan, but I was shocked not to find a Starbucks like right across the street from the courthouse. But....whip out the old iPhone like it's a tricorder, fire up the Starbucks app, and VOILA!.....there's one within sensor range..... WARP FIVE ENGAGE! Now, it's actually kinda cool that this place is across the expressway from the area around the courthouse. Most jurors wouldn't dare voyage more than a block away, so at lunchtime this place is busy, but not insanely mobbed with hundreds of jurors who've all been sent out at exactly the same time. So....I found my jury duty Starbucks. Someplace to suck up electricity and free WiFi for my phone. Yay! All that aside, this is a kind of average Starbucks when you get down to it. Decent seating, attentive staff. I only had 2 days of jury duty, but I already got a sense of some of the "regular" patrons, and some of them are a little loopy. Saw a girl get into a shouting match with someone because she had the nerve to leave her bag unattended in front of her table while she waited on the bathroom line, for instance. One big plus and a definite selling point, at least in warmer months....a great outdoor seating area! True, the view is "only" Queens Boulevard, but the terrace is nicely set-up, complete with speakers so you can hear the same music being played inside. read more

The line is no too bad. Withing 20 min I had my latter that was as always amazing. With covid 19 it creates issues to get your drink as number of locations are closed however this location is open but you have to wait a little bit. read more

Been in this Starbucks about a dozen times over the years and I still like it. It is dimly lit and comfortable in here. Good abundant amount of seating. I see people always doing their work so I would assume the WiFi is good-never tried it. I just order my coffee and leave or use the restroom which is often clean. But I do like the atmosphere. The ordering process seems efficient and without the hustle and bustle I see at other Starbucks while still packing in the crowd. Making that line short is good. Cashier there is VERY RUDE! Do not ask her any questions at all or she will sarcastically answer you and give you death glares. She's short, loud and obnoxious. Well, there's always a first time. I never been to a Starbucks where I have to tell the barista to lower the music. - I did felt uncomfortable to be that person specially on a Sunday. The music was lowered but minutes later they put it back up. I had my headphones on and I was still listening to the loud music in the background. Most of the time when I am in a Starbucks the service is good to great and I feel a uniform comfort in each location. I ordered a caramel apple cider and the guy at the register told me they didn't make them... I started looking at the menu board confused and then he told me that they do have a caramel apple spice. I just stared at him and he told me a caramel apple spice is steamed apple cider with caramel sauce and spice syrup... ummm? Was he just trying to make me feel stupid for calling it the wrong thing? I did not even realize that it had a different name. I was here for about an hour working and there was so much employee drama. There were about five people working and they were all carrying on extremely loud personal conversations. At one point some girl came in and started arguing with an employee about something. The manager (?) asked them to go outside if they were going to fight but then engaged the yelling girl from across the store yelling something about a 14 year old boy and it being the girls fault? I have no idea what was going on. The people I was sitting around looked uncomfortable. Up until I left it went on like this. I really don't mind if the employees have lives and are friends and are chatty with each other but does it need to be so loud and distracting? It just felt like the store was run by a bunch of 17 year olds. ack. read more

This is NOT my favorite Starbucks location but in terms of proximity it is the closest to me. With that being said location is obviously a convenience. It is also close to the subway station where you can grab the E and F train right after ordering that skinny vanilla latte. I don't know why I order it, I'm already quite slim. Do they have a obese vanilla latte? Just curious. The customer service is generally swift and friendly in terms of paying for the drinks/baked goods. The customer service for picking up the drinks is always friendly. Then again, this isn't really a rush hour location or any location in Manhattan for that matter. Well...maybe on Monday mornings I'd imagine because I would never step foot inside a Starbucks during weekday mornings intentionally. This Starbucks location is also cleaner than a few other branches that I've visited. For the alky in you, there is a wine/liquor store directly NEXT DOOR. So an Irish coffee in the morning or a Mexican one is easily obtainable if you need that extra spike or kick before you head to work. Chinese food is also a few doors next to that same liquor store if you are in the need for Chinese in the morning. But I doubt that they open at 8am. Womp Womp. Dunkin Donnuts is located on the next block towards Bank of America but honestly I almost always rather go Starbucks than the other guys any day. read more

This Starbucks is a haven given the location. The area is sad with absolutely no good restaurants within a miles radius and the nearby courthouse has the area looking depressing with bail bonds shops every few feet. My month long jury duty has me visiting the cozy, clean, spacious Starbucks on a daily basis. I'm regularly met with friendly, reliable service. I only wish there was more available seating. read more

This Starbucks consistently messes up mobile orders. The crew doesn't work together to achieve goals. I've been coming here around 3x a week for the last 6 months and the employees act like I'm a stranger. While the baristas are very busy and hard working, it's the support staff that is the weakest link. It should not require waving and calling over to an employee to hand me my mobile order but it's the only way to get them to look over the counter and address the needs of their customers. They should be proactively providing customer service. Isn't that a huge part of what we are paying for when we visit Sbux? An early (for a Saturday) morning trip to Queens was made better by the existence of this particular Starbucks location. It was halfway between the start of my trip from my place in Inwood to the Queens County Farm Museum, right off of the E/F at Kew Gardens. I was in desperate need of some pumpkin bread, an iced chai, and a power outlet to plug my phone into. The place is HUGE, and it includes some shaded outdoor seating along Queens Boulevard. The service is wicked quick, with baristas taking care of drinks and food orders separately. My barista even asked me how I spell Allison. "Two Ls and an I!", I proudly proclaimed! Haha. I was a little excited about this. ;-) The morning I was there, on a not so good note, either the head barista or the manager was a little snippy with her staff. One barista made me an iced Caramel Macchiato instead of an Iced Chai, because the "CH" written on my drink kind of looked like a "CM"; she told the barista to make her Hs look less like Ms...right in front of me. I got the Caramel Macchiato for free, though. (Score!). As I was sitting at the counter area, she also was scolding an obviously new barista on his floor cleaning habits. Once again, this was right in front of me and within absolute earshot. Eh...it just sat a little awkwardly with me; if you're going to scold your staff, doing it away from the customers or do it quietly. I felt kind of bad for the poor kid. One must always consider when looking at a Starbucks, just how similar each and every one is. -Getting to this location can be a little difficult, seeing as the intersection of Queens Boulevard, Union Turnpike and Kew Gardens Parkway isn't the most pedestrian friendly joint in the world. -On all occasions so far, have been greeted and treated with great and friendly customer service. This last occasion, particular care was taken in preparing my beverage. -Great place to study -Convenient to the E,F and Q46 buses. -Only Starbucks I know of in the area. read more

I love the patio outside & even at 6:10am, I was greeted pleasantly by a very friendly barista who was more than happy to accommodate me since I was there to buy a gift card & didn't see one that said "Thank You" on it. She looked through her drawer & found one for me. I ordered a grande Peach Tranquility tea & put one tea bag inside & then gave me a second one as well on the side for later or to make it stronger. I was extremely impressed with the courteous demeanor of the barista & will definitely come back to this location when I'm in the area again. I typically come here 3 days out of the week for my dose of chai as this location is super close to my job. I always have Ashley as my barista and she is super sweet! The other baristas seem to be nice as well! The location is super clean and has seating indoors as well as outdoors. I have also done the mobile pickup at this location as well, and the drinks are always ready when I come! No waiting!! :) I definitely recommend this location! read more

The only Starbucks that's close to my house, so it's basically the only one I go to. The establishment is big, and I love the outside seats. They always get my order right, and the workers are friendly. My only complaint is there's never a seat inside; I truly hate those people that hog seats for endless hours as they do homework, or just fiddle with their laptops. Terrible professionalism and lack of hospitality , this review is regarding the supervisor "Tiffany"... I came in with my 3 year old on 1/7/2018 in a frigid 18 ° weather, I purchased a drink at 9:30 PM (30 min prior to closing) & tried to take my little guy and myself to the restroom. I was advised by an employee who was cleaning the bathroom that the restroom was closed for the night and no one was permitted to enter. I went over to the supervisor and advised her that we needed to use the restroom and it was unjust to deny us the right as I was a frequent paying customer. Tiffany did not care, she stated this was "starbucks policy" to close the restroom 30 min prior to closing because she needs to clean the entire facility and does not have time to do everything on her own. The store was full of clients! Tiffany! you are a disgrace of a supervisor, you should not close the restroom 30 min before closing for your own personal gain. , I will never return to this starbucks, I do not want to give my money to a company who would allow a child to go on themselves just so that they can go home earlier. What a SHIT SHOW! I used to go here almost daily to get my business done and loved it. I stopped going 3 years ago. The staff were always helpful and friendly. Some I even call a friend today. The clientele on the other hand, left a lot to be desired. That included a homeless man that basically lived there from morning until closing and harassed customers by talking loudly about sex, and being vulgar with no consideration for kids being present. DISGUSTING! He created tension that is just not good for business. He has even been rude to me and tries to intimidate other customers, acting like this was his home. I mention him because upon returning after 3 years, this looser is still allowed there. He befriends the Baristas in order to remain there. Apparently, it has worked. After spending time at different locations of Starbucks around the world, I stopped in for ole time sake this week. So much has changed, but not for the better by any means. They have a new set up, but that's about it for the positives. The rest were truly DISAPPOINTING! The employees had frowns, and they made a lousy drink. I was afraid to ask them to remake it. That was a waste of $6! I passed by the next day and decided I will stop in, as it was convenient. A sucker for punishment I guess. I found a seat and I took a business call. It was not long (3 mins. of being on the premises) before an employee approached me RUDELY and DEMANDED I need to make a purchase NOW! She had interrupted my call, no excuse me, no please, no thank you, NO MANNERS! NO TRAINING! I later found out she was in fact the "Shift Supervisor" Tameka/Tamika. Wow! I said I have a gold card and will do so, she stood there stared at me, repeated herself 2 more times and treated me like a criminal. She mumbled something as she walked away. I don't normally write reviews for Starbucks or chain places in general. However, my friend got into an altercation here recently when we were meeting up for a luncheon somewhere else. A guy came in and started screaming on the top of his lungs that my friend had pushed him and created a huge to-do and continued to make a scene and apparently wanted to start a physical fight. I arrived shortly after this happened. My friend is tiny so getting into a fight with any guy can be pretty scary. Dude. But he brought it up to the Manager and he kind of laughed it off and said that this was a 'public venue' and 'I can't kick people out'. Then he was very snide and just made fun of us as we left. Really? So if a homeless man came into your Starbucks and started threatening to beat people up and take a piss all over the place, you wouldn't be able to kick them out because it's you know . . . . . a public establishment. Great location and really great service. The staff here are really friendly and polite. This Starbucks is much more spacious compared to the one on 71st Continental Ave. The Union Turnpike/Kew Gardens train station is just steps away. There's a Chase bank next door, CVS, Duane Reade, Redwood Deli, Fedex print, copy, and delivery service is all close by. Verdict - Free Wi-Fi and a fair amount of spacious seating. It's a good spot to hit the books if you're a student. The one on Continental Ave and the one in Barnes and Nobles on Austin St can get a little noisy sometimes and it's too cramped. read more

Service is always great and the drinks are your average Starbucks, so why the low rating? Ever since that racist incident they now let ANYONE come in to the place and take space. Bought smelly food from somewhere? Sure come in and eat and not buy anything. Want to sleep in the couch and not buy anything? Yeah! Come on in! Have psych issues and yell and talk to yourself? Clearly no incentive to work at anything other than a snails pace. It wasn't a morning rush either, it was 11am. The low rating is partly due to the business model which slows down someone's ability to get a simple cup of black coffee. However, when there are 20 people waiting for mixed drinks and fancy whipped desserts, a simple black coffee customer should not wait 20 minutes. We're not talking a pour over, I was ordering already brewed pikes place. Clearly no emphasis by management or corporate to try to address the simple issues, but this is customer service 101. Fast easy orders you knocked out and get them out of the way, nothing easier than pouring coffee into a cup, especially for coffee house. I used to frequent this Starbucks every morning before work. I would get a smile and "good morning" every single day. Some even remembered me by name. My drink was always prepared perfectly and fast. I've seen long lines there shrink in minutes. Excellent and fast service. Unfortunately my job moved to the other end of Queens Blvd. and no Starbucks within walking distance. Little things make a big difference. Walking in for my morning coffee and being treated like a valued patron really put me in a better mood as I started my day. Sometimes made up for a bad bus ride in or knowing the workday ahead was going to be a challenge. The crew at this location are amazing and always top notch. You're served your drink exactly the way you like it, fast and with a genuine smile and "have a nice day.". I give them a 16 out of 10. read more
