Hate having to come here. I'm an avid fan of the star collecting system, mobile order and the green tea lattes. But since having moved to LAH in August, I've had to use this location as new default. Hate being here for serval reasons: 1) service is slow for walk in orders. My old location in Crystal Springs plaza off of 92 would zip through orders. I suggest taking tips from them. 2) service is impersonal. Same suggestion above. 3) if you're out of something, make sure you're mobile order menu reflects that. Was left standing for my mobile order on 11/30. Then was told by barista they're out of green tea lattes and I had to request something different which I had to wait even longer for her to make. I should have been offered a free drink for this misstep. Again, I hate coming to this place. :/ if I could avoid it, I definitely would; but it's the closest place to home and work I can earn those SB stars. DARN. read more

I've been to so many Starbucks, I can't even keep track. I must admit I avoided reviewing them because I thought it would be difficult to differentiate between them, and I'd just have a collection of the same review over and over again. So why am I reviewing this one? Because it was here that a Starbucks employee recommended one of the most delicious coffee drinks I've ever had (followed by actually making the drink herself), and this is the only way I can think of repaying the universe's kindness. It isn't often that an employee puts extra effort into considering what would make the customer happy, so it's definitely nice to see. Any place containing such an employee deserves some high ratings. TIP: The drink itself was a hazelnut soy latte with a splash of vanilla. It is so ridiculously delicious (ridiculicious?) when made correctly -- they've all been good so far. read more

Really rude staff, had placed a regular order through the app for CURBSIDE pickup. The app had the option of doing in-store pick-up but I knew parking was going to be difficult for the afternoon in that particular area. There were no make areas for Curbside pick up, which I thought was odd. But I figured the app wouldn't give that option at this location if it didn't apply. I parked alongside the CURB and rolled the window down to get a hold of one of the baristas. I saw them creak the door and heard them call my name ONCE, and closed the door. Finally, I quickly ran inside while I left the hazards on. And told them I had a CURBSIDE order, they responded (annoyed and with as much attitude as you can give in that short interaction) that their CURBSIDE meant you needed to COME INSIDE to pick up. Ummm... I'm sorry, but tell me if I'm wrong but why is this the only business establishment that translates CURBSIDE to mean INSIDE? The whole little escapade took more than 20 minutes, so much for a quick predictable trip. I would have been fine if they didn't imply that the mistake was from my side. I had to reiterate to them that their app did have two options, In-store and CURBSIDE. I felt like I was crazy when they all looked at me with the blankest look when I somehow misinterpreted CURBSIDE as picking up from the side of the CURB. Thought I'd clarify for those employees that were confused themselves, as their app shows little images of the type of pick up options they offer. read more

The store needs to work on quality control. I ordered classic oatmeal and they didn't put any brown sugar or nuts in the bag. A few days later ordered blueberry oatmeal and they didn't put the blueberries in the bag. They are very nice to provide missing items after I walk back to retrieve but the items shouldn't be missing in the first place. read more

The employees here spend 90% of the time gossiping about other customers or employees from other shifts that they are not left with enough time to make coffee or tea. How can one expect so much work from los altos starbucks employees? They need to be given extra bonus apart from the bonus given to AIG employees. read more

Okay, so I'm a lover of independent little coffee shops with awesome atmosphere and quirky baristas. But sometimes you just need a latte and a piece of lemon loaf and you need them pronto. And that is this place exactly, with the added benefit of some of the charm usually not found in corporate chains. Indeed, if this Starbucks were the model upon all other Starbucks were based, more people would adore them. There's one gal here who knows everyone, knows their name, knows their drink, knows their friends - and has everything ready in a heartbeat. She is amazing. And all of the other staff are great as well, friendly and professional and not kids working here because they're desperate for some weed money. The line here should not scare anyone away. It may look long, but I speak from much Starbucksian experience when I say that you will get your drink here faster than at most places when there is only one or two people in front of you. It is a well oiled machine! This place is the bomb, and even my corporate-hating self can sip here happily and at peace. read more

I was surprised by the bad reviews here. But then again based on past experiences with other Starbucks locations, I probably shouldn't be. I did find services and qualities among different stores to be inconsistent. Some were exceptional, some were just plain awful. Believe it or not, there was a starbuck in the east bay that served luke warm coffee and the "barista" actually were upset and started arguing when I pointed out to her. The good experience that I had at this Starbucks could probably be just a fluke. But I doubt it. I came here a few times a year when I happen to be in downtown Los Altos. So far I always got fast, friendly, excellent service. The coffee was always HOT and brewed perfectly. When I wanted to indulge myself a bit more, I got their coffee cake to accompany my cup of coffee. In one of the visits, the coffee was not ready when I ordered it and they told me it's on the house. When I said that it's OK, I don't mind waiting, the guy at the cashier in turn gave a big smile and said they don't mind giving a free coffee for making me wait. I was impressed by the nice gesture. I waited for 5 minutes and got the coffee very HOT. It's perfect. read more

This location has improved immensely over the last year ever since they upgraded the location. The staff is all very friendly and they never get my order wrong. They are also flexible with getting modifying my order and not dinging my wallet. It's also a nice place to hang outside and eat lunch with your drink. One time I had forgot my phone to redeem my reward that was expiring soon and the person working without thinking gave me a free drink coupon saying that it would not expire. I also had another employee give me another coupon when they had an electrical outage and had to temporarily close. Both times I left completely impressed and it changed my tune on this place. This Starbucks is consistent and the staff is super friendly, but I'm always FREEZING in here. Literally the thermostat is usually set at 61 degrees, which is significantly below room temperature. Otherwise I love it here. My best friend and I study here all the time, and it's a great spot. We can also always consistent park here. read more

Excuse my cynicism - I'm a fan of all coffee shops, chain and non-chain. This Starbucks in downtown Los Altos has neighborhood charm, downtown parking, and a truly chill atmosphere. It's not like you're at a Starbucks in Times Square where it's chill inside, and crazy outside. I'll be back again, hopefully getting to enjoy the coziness of this Starbucks instead of gulping down my tall iced mocha on the way to work. Nice better-than-average Starbucks. Not much seating on the inside--I'd say enough for 15 people. Not as small as I've seen some Starbucks but not sprawling interior, either. There are some nice patio tables outside, too. Inside, it had a nice feel to it, not too many people means that it's quieter and friendlier. I was rather disappointed with this Starbucks. The coffee I had was disgusting and they served it to me in a cup that had coffee spilled all over the side of it. There is little seating inside: mostly small 2 person tables. There is seating outside, but it tends to be taken with all the older Los Altans. I'm just thoroughly unimpressed with this location, and I was really excited to checking it out, too. I truly enjoy this location! The staff is friendly (even at 6am when i walk in), quick and best of all they get my order right. I come here on my way to work (almost every morning). This is by no means a large Starbucks and in fact I can't see myself coming here to just relax and get some work done, but they do a fantastic job and really care about their customers, which for means a lot (especially when competition is just around the corner). read more

Not one of the better Starbucks... Messy and poorly laid out store, employees are inexperienced and poorly trained. Last stop in had a couple of "just got off" employees milling around and chatting up their co-workers for 30min while 10+ customers were perpetually waiting on drinks. If there was any management here, they should have been walked out the door. read more

A smaller than normal Starbucks but full of their traditional flavor. The place is filled with kids from the area and they are mostly well behaved. Lots of stuff to do in the area with in walking distance. I will give them extra props for their great outdoor seating, just a great people watching location. Not only did our coffee frap taste like a caramel frap, but i asked for whip and it came with no whip. To make matters worse, the lady right before me ordered a skinny mocha and her drink didn't taste right either. The location of this Starbucks is great and I love the storefront itself. However, this Starbucks runs into trouble whenever things get busy, because things also quickly get dirty. Trash on the floor, crumbs everywhere, garbage bins overflowing. It's a shame that they can't seem to keep this place in better shape when rush hour hits. read more

There is absolutely no sense of pride or urgency at this Starbucks-ever...and the coffee consistently tastes burnt- more than any other Starbucks. They also used to remember our drinks, and they don't seem to care anymore. As local residents, we will drive to any other Starbucks to avoid this one. I was not happy whatsoever with this shop. I work at starbucks so I know how drinks should look and taste and mine was not up to par. I asked for a soy caramel macchiato and what I received was a caramel macchiato without soy and no vanilla syrup and expired shots. I watched the barista pour the shots then let them sit there for 35 seconds before realizing they were done. When I asked them to remake it they said it was soy and the shots weren't expire and refused to replace it. Unacceptable to me especially sense they vow to the barista promise. read more

Located along Main St in downtown Los Altos, this cafe has got to be the busiest shop every day all year long. This location was renovated a few months ago and looks very modern and spacious now. The cashiers are usually friendly, but the Batista's making the drinks are questionable. This Saturday weekend, the drink I ordered was not what I ordered. My usual drink was a Grande Soy Caramel Macchiato, and this time it was totally off! The annual Los Altos Fall Festival was underway this weekend at the South Parking Plaza. Maybe the Batistas and staff were overwhelmed with the traffic inside the cafe, but that's no excuse for any Starbucks Coffee store. People were everywhere standing around. So much that you couldn't even distinguish who was waiting and who was in line to order. After 15 minutes of waiting for my two hot drinks, my wife's order was correct and mine was totally off cue. My macchiato was turned into a Spiced Pumpkin Latte. Terrible. I tried the drink when I was already 10 mins away on the road on the way to Roseville for my monthly dog grooming trip. All I could was either complain the next day or write another disappointing letter to Starbucks customer service. I'll complain during the week with the Manager. For all the times I've been at the Starbucks, the person who I always have a pleasant experience with is Takashi aka Taka. This japanese guy is very cool and always full of energy. Look for him. Overall, I think it just depends on who makes the drinks that determines what kind of experience you receive. It would've been 2 stars, but because of Taka's customer service, there's an extra star for him. read more

I used to come to this Starbucks all the time ... but that was when I was in high school and high schoolers didn't bother me. Now that I'm past that age... coming here is such a nightmare. It's interesting because the baristas are actually the same people from back then, but now it's overrun by bratty little kids who bump into you/shove you without saying sorry. It's crazy. I only came here recently because I really needed to get stars to retain my gold membership, but otherwise, I'd recommend the grab your coffee and go. DTLA is beautiful and there are tons of places to sit around and enjoy your coffee away from the high school masses. read more

I have come back to this store several times, hoping for a better experience, and it's been a fairly mixed bag. I tend to have better luck in the late evenings, a few baristas in specific- Dauty and Julia- are usually there and make an effort to ask how I am and actually smile. It's so refreshing! I've come in the mornings before work and most of the people are unfriendly and look like they hate their jobs. However, one gentleman- Noah(?), tall, with glasses, has consistently been friendly and offered an opinion when I about different drinks. I've seen more and more new people here over the past few weeks and I'm hoping the store is headed in a better direction. Hopefully my favorite baristas don't go!! read more

Stopped by on Saturday 11/28, a little past 7. My boyfriend and I were stopping through the town real quick and wanted to grab a warm drink. There was a lady and a gentleman working and their attitude towards us made it seem like we were not wanted at all. When my boyfriend was ordering, the girl was giving the absolute worst attitude, with a nasty tone of voice and kept rolling her eyes. I wanted a drink with soy and the gentleman (who was on his phone) rudely says that they were out of soy. No problem if you didn't say it with attitude. Absolute worse service here.
