I have very fond memories of this Starbucks. I used to walk to it every morning before class and get a black coffee. They knew my name here. The baristas were always so nice and excellent especially during the morning rush. I remember coming in getting Espresso Macchiatos my junior year here and locking in. The space both indoor and out always felt welcoming. I probably spent the most dollars here out of any other place in Lubbock while a student at Texas Tech. That's how often I was here. I felt like it almost set an example of what Starbucks should be as a chain. It's a little slower and a little less on top of it as they used to, so now it's just a normal Starbucks which is a shame because it used to be an all-star to me. Been here before, either nothing special or disappointing. More of than not go through the drive through because waiting inside takes obnoxiously long, an hour or more. It's a popular spot so go figure I guess? Drive through takes 20ish min. But today is what really tic'ed me off. Came to the drive-through at about 6:20 pm; ordered a medicine ball tea. Drive-through lady begins some speech (???) before eventually telling me that they're out. That's chill, it happens sometime. I order a venti mint tea instead, saying "thats all." It pops up on the screen, then she begins adding a bunch of extras (like 4 pumps of honey- I'm okay with with that) to the drink- she says something about lemonade, I reply "no, no lemonade please." She says ok. Cool! Get to the drive through window, pay, grab the drink, drive away. I try a sip, it tastes like hot lemonade. For context, I have a sore throat. The drink is very uncomfortable. I went through this location today, and I wasn't very pleased with my drink. I ordered on the app for drive thru pickup, because I felt that'd make it easier for them. As I left the window and about to take my first sip, I noticed my latte felt extremely light. I took the lid off to see it was barely over halfway. It would be nice to pay for the full grande instead of getting an unexpected tall size. I'm not very happy due to the price(and what I received) and effort the employee lacks. read more

I went and ordered drinks and foods with 2 friends at this location. For reference, we ordered three refreshers (that has abt two ingredients each) and 3 food items that only required them to grab off the shelf or warm up. We ordered around 9:54 (close to close, so we were extra nice when picking up, lots of thank yous). When we arrived it was about 9:56 and we sat in the parking lot until 10:00 to give them more time to make the order. Note, the entire time we were by the building no one came in or out of the building/drive through. We got up to the window and firstly, gives me my items without a bag. Then, he told me "For future reference, especially with school starting...for future reference...order your food on the app with at least 5 minutes in advance" (which we did). He was very rude and unprofessionally. I think it's inappropriate and unnecessary for an employee to tell me what to do, especially when I did nothing wrong. It would have been the same ordeal if we ordered in person or through the drive through, therefore if anything we gave the employees more time to get the order ready. I've worked in the service industry and my friend in the car with me has also worked as a barista, and we couldn't imagine giving that much attitude to a costumer before, even being in his position. Especially giving that much attitude when we were being respectful costumers who had done nothing wrong. We went to a restaurant and ordered, and got sass for it. (???) it's a wonder how this employee works in the service industry if he is going to boss around and be rude to any costumer that doesn't make his job as convenient as possible for him. Literally getting paid $15 an hour to hand me a drink through the drive through and still has a fucking bad attitude. read more

If you are trying to grab a quick coffee before work in the morning 7:30-8a, make sure to use the mobile app. All orders placed in the store get pushed to the side and you might anticipate waiting for 20-30 minutes for your morning to start with coffee. While I love Starbucks and my love for coffee is strong....this location has a weakness with prioritizing orders (mobile and in store) and keeping their loyal Starbuckers who order in store from their fix. If you are true coffee peeps....you know not to keep coffee from coffee people. For this reason, I gave this 4 stars. Im visiting from out of town temporarily and the vibe here is amazing. everyone is always friendly and welcoming. if i stay to do some work they always check on everyone in the place to make sure they're doing good or need anything. even simply just making a small conversation while ordering is nice considering the fact that other starbucks i've been to never actually talk it's typically too busy for them but here even in a morning rush i was able to not only get my order fast the employees were able to keep a good attitude and STILL walk around to check if everyone is good read more

Not sure what has happened with service at most starbucks locations around town. Mobile orders are almost impossible to pick up in a timely manner. i have shown up to pick up my order well after the "predicted" time and they still had not made my drink. This isn't the only location that has struggled to get mobile orders ready on time. read more

I have come to this Starbucks multiple times to study and each time I have been it has been extremely dirty. Trash everywhere, sticky tables and floors, full trash cans and napkins aren't refilled. The area where you get napkins and sugar, etc, is dirty and sticky from spilt drinks or food crumbs. It wasn't busy at all when I was there, but the workers weren't doing anything to keep the cafe clean. I felt very uncomfortable there because of how dirty it was. The bathrooms are also not kept up with. Unfortunately will not be back to this location. read more

This is a pretty good Starbucks and is definitely an improvement over the old location. There are lots of plusses here, the drinks and food come out pretty quickly, the staff has always been friendly to me, the place is pretty clean, the outdoor seating is good. Another big plus is the drive-thru! At times the drive-thru can be busy, but it moves quickly. Also, if you order using the app, you can use the drive-thru to get your order. The one minus to this location is that the speed of the wi-fi is not reliable. The wi-fi always works, but sometimes the speed is normal, and other times it is very slow, even when there are only a few people there. read more

Huge Starbucks with plenty of space to hang out and work - even with a ton of students across the street. Even better if you are staying at the Overton - you can simply walk over. The WiFi is really slow here - unusual for a Sbux. But overall a really great one. read more

Much bigger location and nice renovation of the old jack in the box!!! The drinks come to you pretty fast, and there's nice new furniture on the inside. There is also now a drive thru! There is mostly the same staff as the old university location. It is pretty tight parking, so if you have a large truck you might have some trouble parking! read more

Horrible location the line is always into the streets, making the wait time ridiculous and it's at all hours of the day. There's a location closer to me that I love but since this location is across from the school sometimes it's easier. This has to be the worst run Starbucks in the country. The staff don't know how to do their jobs, plain and simple. My roommates work at the Starbucks on campus and they've said the same thing about this location. I always have to wait 30 minutes for a GRANDE PIKES you literally just fill up a cup. The employees are nice but clearly have no training. There's always a huge line inside and out that NEVER moves. I came to the drive-thu and ordered a coffee for myself and my friend with an extra shots of expresso. Unfortunately I realized they had messed up on our drinks when i got to studying m. I paid $20 + and they gave me the wrong drinks. I instead got someone's coconut milk hot chocolate. I was very upset but since I was already studying I couldn't leave to get my original order. When I was at the window at the drive-thu the cashier was very sweet. I didn't catch her name but she was a sweet little Asian girl. Her coworkers on the other hand were very unprofessional on their phones. I understand the need to check your phone since I'm the same way but not at work when they are swamped with customers. Overall my experience was not very good. If you're craving Starbucks I would recommend going to the one on 80's and University. The customer service is better and they know how to make drinks. The only plus side to this Starbucks is how attractive some of their workers are but it's not worth bad coffee read more
