What is this place? A very large Starbucks surrounded by absolutely nothing of note on a dull stretch of street a few blocks north of the touristy Cannery Row. A very unusual location that I still can't understand. But I was really glad it was here. Not only is it open later than the tiny Starbucks on Cannery Row, there was no line for service unlike the line-out-the-door at the Cannery Row location. So do yourself a favor, get off Cannery Row, walk the few blocks up to Lighthouse and enjoy your latte in peace at one of their large and mostly empty tables. And I realize staff changes quickly, but on the day I was there they were super-helpful and nice. read more

Excellent little place to study and grab a coffee. Quieter atmosphere than most Starbucks and mostly clean. I really enjoy getting stars and appreciate that they honor the rewards points when you order a large coffee with extra. They have this excellent new selection of drinks and always have enough cookies that seem fresh even though I know they don't make them here. My only complaint is that this place is becoming a homeless refugee camp. I feel like the staff shouldn't let them store all of there smelly stuff and ruin the environment. Most of them are on drugs and this has really disgusted me and turned me off from spending time here. The worst is when it rains and they all come in and the place smells like garbage. I've worked in cafes, so I know how hard jobs like this can be. However I truly don't understand what's going on at this location. I'd gone to this location quite a few times 3-4 years ago. My go-to drink was a mocha frap. It /always/ tasted like there was no chocolate in it and it was never blended correctly (super super thick and icy with large chunks of ice). This was a very regular occurrence for me at this location, so I decided to stop going. Recently, I decided to give the location another shot. The first time, my partner and i both ordered different but similar drinks. Think "chocolate almond shaken espresso" and "brown sugar oat shaken espresso." They gave us 2 of the same drink. When I returned mine and asked for the correct drink, I was met with an eyeroll and reluctance. The drink that they remade tasted incredibly off, like there were WAY too many pumps of sweetener in it. Not sure if they genuinely don't know how to make the drinks or if they were being malicious. I wasn't going to be a pain and ask them to remake it again, so we just said thanks and left. The next time I returned, I got a frap. Still just tastes super off, and unlike the fraps at all other starbucks locations. Didn't return it or anything, but I didn't drink it. The third, and final time I gave this place a chance, I ordered a menu drink with the pumps of sweetener altered to make it less sweet. I genuinely don't know what they did to mess up the drink so bad. The espresso was sour and bitter. The shots were so burnt, I don't even understand how they could have gotten that bad. There was very obviously not less, but way more sweetener than I had asked for. Like, 8 pumps. The end result was sour and sweet, which is not something i'd hope for in an espresso drink. It is genuinely the most disgusting thing I've ever drank. I've worked jobs like this and I totally understand that mistakes happen! Especially when the place is busy. Unfortunately, the place has been super empty every time I've come in. There are people sitting in the lobby, but there hasn't been a line during any of my trips. The only other business is in the drive through. It also might make it easier to forgive if the baristas were friendly, but I haven't had that experience here. Anyways! I don't know what's going on at this location, but maybe they get different drink recipes than other starbucks, or the baristas need to be retrained. I'd avoid this location if you can, and instead go for the one on cannery row or the one inside of andronicos market. read more

Visiting Monterey this week I was looking for the Kentucky Fried Chicken I ate at in the past only to find that their is no longer one in Monterey, Pacific Grove also lost it's only McDonlad's and now both are Starbucks. I love the size of this Starbucks store and all the power outlets and seating, the barista's are very friendly, but my gripe is slow internet, my connection to Direct TV Now kept giving me a connection error, and I wish it was open till midnight or 24 hours. If only Starbucks would make new stores as big as this one with so many power outlets! read more

Strikingly big store, but I like that. I also really like the natural light streaming in from above, it gives the room a nice feel, a nice ambiance. Service was great, the drink my girlfriend ordered was solid, and had no other complaints! It's also cool that its a drive thru location, if you're into that sort of thing. I'll start off by saying I'm not a big Starbucks fan. But our options are limited around here in terms of a quick coffee, and how can you pass up the drive thru? My first experience at this location was on the BOGO day. My husband and I showed up to get the deal and come to find out we needed to download the app for it. (Yes we live under a rock) So we are waiting and waiting and the app doesn't upload because storage is full blah blah *first world probs*. So I'm like oh well let's just forget it. Well we had originally ordered our drinks first and then found out about app. So we tell him we will just pay the full price and he says we are still going to give you the BOGO, just remember for next one! Like whhaaaa?! You coffee angel! Well this whole place is full of coffee angels! Today I go by to get a PSL (what else do you even get at this time of year) and I only give myself a certain coffee allowance per month and with a teething baby I've used quite a bit of that up. I ask how much the total would be with a cream cheese danish and find out it wasn't enough (oh well no biggie). I pull up to the window and she says here's one on us. LIKE WHAT? I got all flustered and emotional because one I'm so tired and I just wanted a little thing to treat myself and this beyond sweet thing happens. Meh, they're ok. The drive through it rather efficient but their online ordering could use a little help. Its almost like they dont start making your drink until you come in. I stood there for 8 minutes before I noticed she was asking other people if they had a mobile order. She never asked me and seemed to be hiding drinks behind the bar. First off, this a constructive review and a way to express my disappointment with service on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at approximately 0540. I am a resident of PG and I only visited this location to cut back on time. I noticed that the lobby was empty, except for two other customers( one sitting and enjoying their drink and another ordering) I placed my order of a venti cold brew(black) and a sausage cheddar muffin. I observed a steady stream of cars coming and going as I waited for my order. Three other customers ordered after me and one of them was a Starbucks employee coming prior to her shift. The cashier was smitten Millie ! Just hung out at the register as I waited for my drink. One other employee was hauling ass taking care of the drive through and smitten Millie only served coffee to her colleague. I lost patience at 0554 and asked for a refund. The manager happened to be within hearing range and three a fit. Here is where everyone, including management dropped the ball and caused this review. Manager, immediately asked the employee why I hadn't received my order and her response was " I was busy taking orders". The Maher huffed and puffed and rolled her eyes and walked away. I , as a manager, would handled it this way... first off apologize for the delay and asked if I had three minutes more to spare, I will prepare your order immediately and the next cup of coffee is on us. Instead, the manager was more interested in disciplinary actions in front of customers, extremely unprofessional, than making it right. I lost critical Minutes of my commute to work because of this blunder. I know how much of a black eye Starbucks has gotten lately and I understand why. I normally opt for local coffee shops at all costs, but I now will pass up this, and any other Starbucks from now on. read more

The barista was super friendly and even gave me suggestions when I was not sure of what I wanted. Great customer service. She made me this concoction of two different drinks and it is now my fav thing ever. Now to try and remember what it was that she made me lol. Laid back atmosphere and the best place to just sit and enjoy the beach air. Worst Starbucks in town! They are inconsistent with their drinks. The chai often tastes like warm milk. The worst part is in the drive-thru they put their finger on the lid to hand you your drink. Who does that? The girl literally had her thumb right over where i put my mouth. That's nasty anytime but during Covid it was worse. Especially since they are handling cash and whatnot. From the get go the attendant was clearly new/unconcerned. I hate leaving bad reviews, but we were really surprised with our service. We ordered, she repeated part of it back, struggling and asking us to wait- again, no real issue. Her responses were a little short but we've all had days like that. Then she said they didn't have our food, waited longer, said they did. Ordered a drink, she only heard the "Mocha" not the size or milk request. She seemed upset to have to ask again.. Maybe the mics are just really bad in the drive through? When we got to the window, we didn't receive all our food. We asked for it and she said she didn't know what to do. We asked again since we ordered a panini, she said she didn't hear it and since people were behind us we needed to leave. Her tone was kind of rude & we were confused. Had to pull around and go inside, still took over 10 min. Probably just an undertrained/stressed employee, but I know Starbucks can do better! An apology, some understanding, and such kindness goes a long way, but again- maybe she was having a bad day and didn't have any left. As Starbucks go this is probably one of the largest I've been in. Plenty of places to sit to study, talk or just chill. The service is always fast, accurate and friendly (It's Starbucks) Parking it a bit tight sometimes but most of the time if one waits a second a spot will open up. There is also drive though if a spot doesn't open up. Pick up a drink then head down the beach to enjoy it. Plus, you'll be amazed when you run into a friend you didn't expect to be there. Oh ya, there is also lots of charging stations so if you're studying or chilling then the device starts to run out of juice you can charge up there. read more

I'd stay and read the signage if I didn't have places to go. The ambiance is pretty amazing for a Starbucks. It's larger inside than most I visit and even if I didn't have a paper to read I'd spend time reading about coffee agriculture and what this Starbucks does to reduce its carbon footprint. The parking lot is small for the amount of seating inside but I'm guessing they hope people will use public transportation. Many times the shots are very watered down- so machine needs some servicing and for amount of traffic this location has- should Only use seasoned team members for drinks and call window. I used he restroom first and it was very messy and not only out of toilet paper, but when I washed my hands I noticed they were out of hand towels. Dang it, after my hands were already wet. I ordered and received my drink promptly but never got my lemon loaf. The drive thru girl said she'd get it but didn't, finally a 3rd person came out from the back and asked if I'd been helped.
