Not that I am a Starbucks lover by any means. I do like a nonfat chai tea latte on occasion. They have plopped a new Starbucks right off 880 freeway just seconds from my work (I know a shocker). I envision walking there on a sunny afternoon when a second caffeinated beverage is in order. For now, I have driven there twice and plan to hold a subset department meeting there on Monday morning. It is not busy there YET but that may be because it just opened about a week ago. We have to take advantage of using it as off-site meeting space while we can. Better than the small conference room any day! Sorry Jolie's, this may detract from your fireman business. I saw a gaggle of them there just this morning hanging out and sipping this corporate giants goodness. The Embarcadero cove is now forever changed, although Starbucks calls this location Estuary Cove. Cove monkeys unite! You now have a gathering zone which doesn't pull you far from your precious water views. The price of admission will only cost you dollars a day for your caffeine pleasures. I will enjoy this nice, clean, new gathering place until it turns into a local hangout and then, I am outta there! read more

I'm sad to say that I also enjoy this Starbucks for its cleanliness, pace, and overall great customer service. I have been a customer here for about 6 years plus. And seen most Employees and i know and love them all. I get my mom's. Cappuccino everyday and me. Something sometimes my whole family. And they always make me feel welcomed. And if I ever need them to remake something or need extra of anything there always happy to help. And yea sometimes might be loud in there. If you have time, sit outside and look at the water and the boats! This is probably one of my favorite and obscure Starbucks around. It's located on the water right off of 880. Chances are, you've driven past this every day and not even have known it's here. This is one of the fastest, and customer-friendly Starbucks around. Even if you're just stopping by for a quick pitstop, or if you'd like to lounge on the back patio... great place! read more

My girlfriend and I are staying in a local hotel. We decided that we wanted dessert and walked over to the Starbucks not realizing that they were closed. The two baristas were still very eager to help us even though they would have to stay late. They were incredibly helpful and even though we were across the country on vacation I felt even more welcomed than at my local Starbucks. Great experience! read more

I come here exclusively to sit at the patio facing the water. So I had to change my rating from a 5 star to a 3 star and that's already being generous considering for the past 3 months there have been new baristas here now and they have been making every drink I order not as good as before ... they take so long to make drinks now ... the taste is awful and way too strong .. they have no idea how to make the new drinks and the fraps have been watered down ... really sucks because this used to be my favorite Starbucks ... I do believe that every starbucks have a different taste even though they use the same products. The workers were always so kind and they talk to you. And if u are a regular, they of course will eventually greet you with your name. Their drinks are always good and never too bland nor too bitter. Poor service, RUDE, and too much attitudes!!!!!!These people have no customer service experience, seem like they don't want to be at work. I waited more than 15 minutes, turn out they messed up my order. I ordered ICE Carmel macchiato not hot. I already waited too long, so I asked for a refund and they give me attitude. I'm not the only they messed up the drink, their are other too. It was such a mess today. They whole have staffs change, many new faces. I have been going here since they open and have never encountered such a horrible customer service. Super folks here! I came in really hungry, no other options in the area at night, and took my time making a long, rolling order. The lovely cashier calmly took my order, when I was finally done rambling, she calmly announced "Starbucks is closed!" I was shocked and a bit embarrassed that I didn't notice and took my sweet time, ordering like $25 worth of stuff, including a specially made coco-green tea frap she made post closing time! This is the friendliest Starbucks I have ever been to. All the staff are genuinely happy and kind. And it was really nice that they even knew the names of some of the customers, updating each other on their lives during their down time. The staff is definitely what makes this place. And the location itself is great as well. There's a good amount of space to sit inside, with a fair amount of outlets. And there's an even nicer patio outside behind the starbucks that's right on the water with plenty of seating as well. A perfect place to sit and relax on a nice sunny day. A little out of the way for a Starbucks for me, but I'd say it's worth it. Although parking may be a bit difficult, especially during lunchtime! read more

This is my go to Starbucks. It's located next to the 880 freeway entrance so it's a good place to stop by and grab a drink for the road. All the baristas are really friendly and have great costumer service. They've gotten a lot better at making their drinks. I remember before it was a hit or miss but now they're pretty much on point. My fraps are blended just right and no big chunks of ice are left in the cup. Parking spaces are a little tight so if you have a bigger car it might be a bit of a hassle. It's located right next to the water and the docks. It's a nice place to catch up with friends or even have some alone time with your own thoughts. All in all, keep up the good work starbucks! read more

Why the worker here are so grumpy? I ask nicely if my drink had a triple shot because it didn't taste like it did then the barista responded really rudely claiming it was. I felt it was really disrespectful as I was already waiting over 15 minute for my drink. I didn't bother trying to argue because there was other customer waiting. I wish I caught her name but she was about 5'3 wore glasses and had black hair. I'm only writing this review so the manager can maybe have a talk with their team to have better customer service. Very unfortunate this is the closest Starbucks to my work. This is the 2nd time ive gone in there and poured spoiled milk into my coffee. The rude employees have a bad habit of not refilling the milk/creamers and leaving them out over night. Not a great way to start out my day. read more

There's a lot of SBUX haters out there, but I personally have a few favorite drinks here. hehe. depending on my mood.... chai tea latte extra hot no foam with whip..... iced green tea sweetened light ice... iced caramel maccihatto caramel in cup, 4 pump vanilla, extra whip cream... blah blah blah I like this location because its kinda hidden, so its not super packed. there's parking right outside. and theres a nice view of the water! also, its pretty close to my house, so I dont have to run people down at the lakeshore one trying to get a parking spot... You can see this Starbucks driving on 880S and so you definitely cannot miss it. Upon arriving the lady in the front didn't seem to friendly taking our orders. We were standing in line and when it was our turn she didn't even bother to say anything but just gave us a blank stare as we ordered. The only reason I gave this location 3 stars is because you can walk out the other door to look out at the water with the view. This is my favorite Starbucks for two reasons: 1) Friendly Staff. Maggy, Paul, Lisa, Beth, etc. They always remember my drink (triple tall wet cap). Sometimes my drink is already done by the time I pay. 2) Great location. I love how one side is right along the freeway, but the other side is on the estuary with boat docks! I come here all the time and even I come I can usually recognize the people working here! The customer service is great and I always see customers making conversation with the people who work there. It is a fairly small Starbucks, but there is a breakfast bar like counter where you can sit and look outside. Sometimes it can be awkward sitting there, because often random strangers will be looking at you, but that wasn't too much of a problem for me in particular! If you live in Montclair this is a great place to get your coffee or tea! Also, they do have some cups and coffee beans you can buy there, but I haven't bought anything from here before, I usually just order coffee. read more

Best part of this Starbucks, without question, is the parking. No dealing with meters, street parking, or limited spaces. There is always easy parking right in front and when it comes to Oakland coffee shops that is unusual! The seating is a little limited but there always seems to be open tables anyway. Alot of Coast Guard personnel and Oakland cops frequent this location so it makes for some good eavesdropping and overall feeling of safety (I don't have to worry about someone stealing my laptop when I get up for a refill if there are cops sitting at the next table, right?). One downside - they decided not to leave the milk out at the milk/sugar station during non-rush times so I have to ask them to do it for me. I appreciate they don't want to waste milk, but I like to be in charge of doctoring my own coffee :) read more

It seems that most yelpologists agree that giving Starbucks a good rating (or a rating at all) is cause for an immediate burning at the stake. I can see how one or many could deem this appropriate, given the whole chain and Corp. thing. but come on people when you need a cup of what ever "no foam triple Americano Chai espresso Misti latte with whip" that suits your fancy, this is a one stop shop for your vice. that being said, i have to admit I've been to a number of locations here in oaktown. while some may be bigger or maybe play better music than others, what needs to be addressed is... the coffee. not only the coffee but how its made, the cleanliness of the area its made in and whether the Fu%#$* making your drink has any clue what he/she is doing. This is where i think this local is a little different. Yay for the great views of water and boats and the freeway. yay for the outside seating and the oh so close "toasty" Quiznos (look for my lovely review of them coming soon) that sits just a hop, skip, and a door down form them. yay for their ability to play endless hours of reggae music interrupted only by the talented Jacob Dylan. hopefully you didn't take any of that seriously. but folks what are we here for, COFFEE... Fresh, never watered down, made to perfection coffee. lattes always have just enough foam for that creamy to the last sip taste. Mochas that give your choco craving side just enough juice to go away without leaving you wanting more. and although frappucinos only require training as far as "fill this line to here with fat, then fill with ice, blend" they still have that made with love feel to them. OK enough blathering on. time for the dice. 1 star for good coffee and consistency 1 star for a clean store and that my shoes don't stick to the floor. 1 star for the customer service and that great "Cheers" feeling you get. 1 star for a sitting area and those lovely views of the freeway.
