My favorite aspect of this particular coffee spot is the thoughtfulness of the young people working there energetically and humanely --unlike any human machine type people who typically expect tips for basic good manners. I even got to speak my fun Spanish and Urdu phrases, just for fun, with a few, while working through another John Locke chapter I have been trying to finish understanding again. The atmosphere was generally clean, and the lemon cake and pumpkin bread were my favorites after a walk somewhere. The music was not too loud and grating -as in some modern places: but mellow and in the background. When one older, crotchety lady came yelling at me for sitting too close to a handicapped table, I would have been glad if someone with a louder voice than mine in the cafe: would have corrected such insolent behaviors, but I held my ground and quietly moved further away for the entitled group to sit wherever they felt like. Since there is only one Rosa Parks, I figured it would be better to get the hint and find another neighboring table to enjoy the second coffee my cousin had given me a gift card for --and not let some disgruntled mind ruin my writing day. (My religion, Islam, calls for practitioners to be tolerant with different ways of behaviors and strange habits, so moving to another table without much ado made sense in dealing with the crotchety woman's tempestuous ways). Otherwise: good people: great coffee, and cozy atmosphere: a wonderfully cozy setting for getting things done, writing, or just enjoying the moment. read more

This appears to be a very popular Starbucks in Pennington, NJ. I stopped in for a client meeting. He chose the spot as it was near his home. No problem. It was crowded this Saturday morning, and there was a longish wait after giving our order until it appeared at the end of the counter where the completed requests were placed for pickup. This whole operation was confusing. While there are labels with customer names and order on each cup, they have small print, and people are standing around not knowing when their drinks have been prepared, not where they are placed on the counter. Thus, everyone is touching them looking for an identity until they luck onto their own. Not great sanitary conditions. I found the Chai Latte to be overly sweet, and my client mentioned that his Pikes Roast regular coffee had the burnt taste that is standard with most Starbucks beans (which is why I don't usually drink their coffee). Thankfully, we had a good conversation about his case, but beyond that the entire experience was discombobulating. read more

I stopped into this Starbucks during a road trip. We were on our way to Philly and this Starbucks was near the border of Jersey and PA. Pennington is a suburban area. The Starbucks has its own parking lot, and was easily accessible from Pennington Road. After parking the car, I went inside. There are two entrances; I went through the side one and then got in line. This location looked like it served a lot of locals in the area; there was a buzz in the coffee shop with people sitting at tables inside reading or chatting with one another. It's a cute Starbucks. Anyway, bottom line items - The line moves quickly and everyone behind the counter was friendly and helpful. It's clean and tidy. It's a good Starbucks location. If I were a local, I would definitely frequent this place more often. read more

I've been to this Starbucks several times. Every time that I've visited, they've been super busy. On one level, that's a nuisance, but it's also impressive that, despite their being consistently crowded, I've never had an unacceptable wait there and have always found the place clean. This is a nicely sized Starbucks. It is located right on the front corner of the Stop&Shop plaza in Pennington. I go to the Honor Yoga studio in the same plaza so I frequent this Starbucks. The staff has always been very friendly and they usually prepare the drinks rather quickly and accurately. They have a rather large selection of merchandise as well. This is the closest location to the office, so I'm in now and then to pick up a drink. It's a convenient location, and the layout is pretty good. Not a huge location, but there is some outdoor seating. On one occasion, I wanted to redeem a limited-time bonus that I had earned, and the barista accidentally used one of my star rewards instead. After she realized her mistake, she loaded the price of my order onto my card as a credit, which was really considerate. That left a great impression! read more

Great location right off of I-95 along NJ Route 31. I stop here every time I head to Jersey to see my brother or to visit my old High School buddies. And then I stop again on the way back to Maryland (OK, I could have said home, but I still think of Jersey as the home I can't afford)!!! This is one of the largest Starbucks I've seen (the San Antonio one along the River Walk is Fri-ken HUGE multi-floor is the biggest I've seen). Lots of tables, bar stools, lots of outdoor seating, with great Free Internet that reaches out to my car across the parking lot. So you can log on, get directions, and go without going in (not that I would do that.... because I was craving caffeine and needed a rest rooo...err stop). If you come here at the wrong time, then like Ryan said you're going to wait... did I forget to mention, the place is huge!!! The staff were polite and quick... They couldn't help that the two ladies in front of me ordered 8 flippen drinks and then had to ask what was what despite each cup having already been labeled by the cashier. read more

My go-to Starbucks. Sometimes they run out of mixes and baked items frequently... At least twice a week, I'll mobile order a peach tea infusion and they will be out of the mix. More than twice a week, they will sell out of the spinach eggwhite wrap by 2pm (but then again that thing is delicious so I'm not surprised it sells out... I just wish they would order more to keep up with demand.) What keeps me coming back is this one worker there... When I got there and was told my mobile order needed to be amended because they were out of the peach, the female worker was very apologetic and polite. She suggested the strawberry infusion (which was delicious) and after she handed it to me, she said that if I didn't like it, that she would make me something else for free. I feel like that sort of excellent customer service is worth coming back to this Starbucks every day :) read more

Probably the worst in the area. They are SLOOOOOOW regardless of how many baristas are working. And they constantly turn off the mobile ordering which is annoying for those who prefer to use this option. The female workers often try not to look up at you so you can't ask them for anything. And despite Briarcliff Manor being my home away from home for the last 15 years, I really don't know the area that well. So the road often leads here. It's not so bad. The place is generally clean. It's Starbucks! What can I say they're all the same except maybe some of them are a bit less happy than others. This one though got my drink order which was pretty complex right and it tasted good so three stars for that! I have to agree with the comments about the less than standard service and the wait time I experienced on both visits to this Starbucks. They seem to be flying by the seat of their pants - as if they took the customer service training manual and set it on fire rather than read it. No one really seemed happy to be there and were not really pleasant at all. They did not consistently ask for customers' names so they called out drink names instead. The staff was not wearing name tags which I have not seen at any other Starbucks ever. And it is a very poorly laid out space and there is never enough seating. The only reason it gets two stars is because a pumpkin spice latte is still a pumpkin spice latte. read more

This is the only coffee shop in the area, and so I'm forced to go here when I come home to visit. I live in Philadelphia, which is over populated with Starbucks lovers; I've been to many Starbucks there and never seen lines as long as in Pennington. The service is very slow and inefficient. This Starbucks is a disgrace to the company. Sadly it is the only Starbucks between work and school, and I have gambled by coming here in the name of caffeine needed to get through a three-hour grad class. If you're desperate, and willing to take your chances, you can potentially look forward to improperly made drinks, extra calories, poor service, the feeling you just wasted your money, and, if you're lucky, the opportunity to hone your self-advocacy skills. My most recent visits included the following experiences: A venti Frappuccino made without whatever makes it sweet. When questioned, the barista shrugged, rolled his eyes, and remade the drink only when directly asked to do so. A grande Carmel Frappucchino light that was made regular and included some kind of crunchy topping that's not in the recipe for a regular or light Carmel Frappucchino. I wanted a 120 calorie drink. Thanks for the extra 500. Thankfully, I'm not diabetic, or I'd probably be in life-threatening shock. On my most recent visit, I ordered a grande Very Berry Hibiscus Refresher. My drink was actually fine. The girl immediately after me got the same thing in a venti. Our drinks came onto the counter at the same time. Mine was dark pink with berries floating in it, as it should be. The venti was a pale yellowish pink with- I kid you not- ONE berry. When the girl with the venti asked why her's didn't look like mine, the male barista gave the following incoherent response: "I asked her [points to female barista] for the scoop, but she didn't give it to me." As though this somehow explains why or how a $5.00 drink with a very specific recipe was made incorrectly. I had to get to class, so I didn't see the rest of the interaction, but I hope the drink was fixed. If I had time, I would have politely shared the following: This is Starbucks. The company you work for, and who graciously gives benefits to its employees, I might add, has made a name for itself on high-quality signature drinks. Stop trying to be an innovator. Make the drinks according to the recipes. Be mindful of the fact that people who come in are paying a premium for both an experience, and more importantly, for a high quality and specific drink, that at $5.00 should be made consistently every time. read more
