A few years ago this was such a well-run store, especially considering the heavy tourist traffic it had to deal with. I went there every morning and it was consistently great. Unfortunately, it has gone downhill badly. There's an entirely new staff now, and the service is poor. The manager isn't much better. The First Starbucks out of over 300 that I have been to. The Port Jefferson Village Starbucks holds a place in my heart. The reason is that when I visited it in the late 1990s or very early 2000s, it was the very first Starbucks that I had ever been to. This was before Starbucksmania. When my friend Andrew and I stepped inside this Starbucks, I was unaware that it was a major coffee chain. It was this past summer, that I returned to the Port Jefferson Starbucks after twenty years. How many Starbucks can I say that about. My family and I hung out here during the later moments of our time in Port Jefferson. If Port Jefferson was without a Starbucks, I doubt that they would build this one in 2023. Back in the late 1990s and 2000s, Starbucks executives had imagination. Their imaginative thoughts created Starbucks outlets that were unique, cozy, and the third place that created a unique Starbucks experience. This location is the antithesis of a Starbucks corporate culture that is striving to be a drive-thru brand that is slamming the hammer on unique locations centered around an environment that encourages hanging out. At the Port Jefferson Starbucks, in place of a drive thru, is a New England style streetscape. Walking along Main Street is the main access to the New England style building that looks nearly identical to when George Washington stepped foot on Long Islands North Shore. It plays a roll in the Port Jefferson experience where people like myself browse at the storefronts, engage in the Port Jefferson Harbor scenery, and take life at a leisure pace. Inside, I feel like I have been transported into a shop in an 1800s fishing village. The interior screams out seaside history and commerce. Regardless that this is a unique Starbucks, the drink is identical to the tall coffee with two Splendas that I have enjoyed in the Starbucks from Port Jefferson in the northeast to Fort Lauderdale in the Southeast and the original Starbucks in Seattle at the Northwest. So is the nearly $3 price. The Port Jefferson Starbucks had made such a first impression on me with the brand twenty years ago that I would go on to visit over 300 more. I hope that the Port Jefferson Starbucks is up for at least twenty more years instead of being replaced with a cookie cutter drive thru - emphasized location beyond pedestrian friendly Main Street, Port Jefferson. read more

Since I had some time to kill while a family member was having a procedure at nearby Mather Hospital I camped out here with my computer to get some work done. This Starbucks in Port Jefferson is pretty nice, and has a terrific location right on main street. if you're sitting at the front window counter seats it's perfect for people watching on a nice day. More than enough seating, clean bathrooms, strong wifi, and outlets to charge up. Friendly baristas and no problem getting my iced coffee quickly. Good air conditioning here too on a hot afternoon outside. read more

To the coffee gods who work at this location- you guys are awesome! Orders are always made quickly, accurately, and the lattes are delicious. Sometimes I'll order the chorizo egg sandwich. It's a great filling sandwich with a touch of spice. If I feel like having a little something sweet, the chocolate cake pop really hits the spot. For anyone who isn't familiar with the Starbucks app, you can order your drink and food to go and it will be waiting for you at the counter when you walk in. I was in there yesterday with a friend that I haven't seen for a long time getting a cup of coffee. The staff was rude, not even a hello, nothing. On top of that, they were setting up for Christmas and they had placed all the merchandise on all the sitting areas leaving us the customers with no place to sit while it was 40 degrees outside and we were forced to sit outside in the cold. When i asked if they can kindly move some of the mech so we can have a little corner to sit at, the person who looked to be the manager, said "sorry can't help ya" in a sarcastic and disrespectful tone. Tik tok entitlement is all I gotta say. Just went in, the server said "we're closed just served our last customer!!!!" In the most condescending voice I've ever heard in all my 20 years of freakin retail. So I didn't say anything... it's just odd not to lock the door when you're closed, then when you are done with your "last customer"... you unlock door and let them out, but nope they (I'm guessing she but I don't want to be insensitive if I'm misgendering, seriously, no sarcasm) said "Have a good night!!!!" I'm a village resident and for years, without fail, every time I come in here, they always forget my food order and I am left standing there for at least a half hour until I have to catch someone's attention and let them know I'm still waiting on something. There will literally be no one else in the store except me and they will still forget to prepare my food order. It's pretty pathetic. I don't come here unless I'm in a hurry and have to go somewhere close to home. If you come here, make sure you leave some extra time and if you're ordering a food order just be warned you'll have to remind someone to make it for you. I'm a sucker for all things raspberry so instead of putting raspberry in my mocha (I figured that would be overkill) I opted for the loaf. YUM! I used to drink Starbucks daily. But, I cut back because of the calories. Today was my first time here in a while and I must say I forgot how STRONG the coffee is! I am wired! I like this location. The staff is friendly, the drinks are made consistently well, and it's clean. You can sit at the counter by the the window and people watch or take your drink and go shopping. Parking is easy. It took five Times until I had to ask what his name was because I believe the community should be informed and try at all costs to avoid whatever Starbucks he's managing. I understand as the manager you should supervise but that literally shouldn't be the only thing you do. I've noticed how he doesn't even lift a finger. It's hard to get too excited about Starbucks, but I wanted to let people know that this is one of the 11 locations in New York State (according to the sign in the lobby) that offers coffee via the Clover Process. The only other one that I have found is in Bridgehampton. I tried a hot Clover Columbian reserve coffee (I wanted the Malawi, but they were out) and I was very impressed. (You can get Clover process coffee iced as well, but I'm not a fan of iced coffee.) The coffee had a much, much deeper taste and a richer aroma than the standard Starbucks coffee. read more

A standard Starbucks, with a great location Down-Port. Personally, I've been spoiled by Google's barista bar, but do enjoy the seasonal Pumpkin Spice Latte (PSL). I visited this location with a couple of friends, who were itching to get their PSL fixes. The interior is identical to all other locations, but has a smaller amount of seating and tables. The service is efficient, but (of course) consistently spells names wrong. The food and drink quality is on-par with what you'd expect, and chains thrive on reliability. All in all, I think Starbucks is a safe bet, but I'd recommend going out of your comfort zone once in a while. read more

It's located down in the heart of Port Jefferson, so you'll find the standard locals or summer folk out for a nice day out by the docks and to shop the eclectic mix of specialty shops. If people watching is your thing, this place is right up your alley; it's located on a corner with lots of windows. And since Port Jeff. really draws some crowds, especially in the Summer, you'll never be at a loss for people to gawk at while downing your frap. As with any other Starbucks, you'll get terrible coffee but good specialty drinks. The location is why I give it 4 stars, but it would have gotten the full 5 if it were just a tad bigger. read more

I've been working out of this starbucks for my last 4 gigs that allow me to work from home when I'm not traveling and have taken a liking to this starbucks for a reason. For all the traveling I do, I find it to be the most consistent...I base my Starbucks' on how well they can make their Venti Nonfat Cappucino. This particular stabucks is situated on a corner (what a surprise) and has a very friendly staff that I've gotten to know quite well throughout the years...they really take care of their regulars and ALWAYS provide a smile in the morning. My corner seat cannot be beat, I have full view of the harbor, Main St, plug outlets for my laptop and my own sorta alcove corner area that keeps the sound of the blenders and such to a minimum... Catena is the current manager here and runs a tight ship! NOTE - They are getting 5 stars not because Starbucks has the best coffee (I don't really drink coffee anymore, I drink tea 99% of the time nowadays) but rather it's receiving 5 stars in comparison to the other 2352323.4 starbucks' in the area which just can't compare. read more

The people behind the counter were very unconcerned about the safety issues and just wanted to move the crowd along. Came to Stony Brook to visit the lady friend and just stopped in this Starbucks after a quick bite on the port. To be honest, I'm completely underwhelmed. Starbucks is a chain that's all over the world. There's no way a blond roast coffee should be burned. I know this is Port Jefferson and its more about the small joints, but a blond roast coffee is something that a Starbucks should get right. Slowest Starbucks that I have ever been to in my life and I travel often. The location is on Main Street leading to the port Jefferson ferry, and only had two staff members with a line reaching out the door. I arrived at 720 am and my ferry was to leave at 8 am. This Starbucks has beautiful ambiance. Nice store. Clean bathrooms. But they messed up my Iced Caramel Macchiato. I've been to like 100 Starbucks and that has never happened. (Not enough Caramel Drizzle was the sin.) Ordinarily, I probably would overlook it, but the drinks came out so very slow and sat and waited until called. YMMV. But it's possible that my drink could be yours. That said, the folks working their were extremely nice. The only other negative is that there are way too many bar stools and not enough chairs just to sit and enjoy your drink. Perhaps night-time in Port Jefferson requires bar stools. Who knows. Starbucks in my opinion is too pricey, but we needed a place in the community to meet on the evening of the MLK day holiday that was open. This place sufficed. We sat in the window, had some privacy, discussed business and updates, then adjourned the meeting. Straightforward good place to meet, chat and complete work. Free wi-fi. Some sections are more private than others, but overall this is a small location.. You can't isolate yourself and conversation too much, so be discreet.
