Based on the recommendation of a coworker, I stopped into Dollop coffee to see what the hype was about. I think this brand is unique to Chicago, so that was special. I like to get to know the vibe of the city where I'm visiting. I was immediately impressed by the semi industrial look of this particular location. I have since found out that the locations have their own unique decor, from what I was told. I heard that they bake their own pastries and roasted their own coffee beans. So that was neat and I tried both. I had a chocolate croissant, which was absolutely delicious. For my drink I ordered the spicy mocha, which is like a Mexican mocha with a little bit of extra spice added. It was very good. However, I ordered it hot and received lukewarm coffee. This is the second time I've gone to a coffee shop and the coffee wasn't piping hot. I don't know what this trend is. But anyway, the coffee tasted great, otherwise. The location was fairly busy for a Friday mid morning. Several people were in there with their laptops, working away. Oh, I must mention the music. Meh. We got 3 coffees and 3 pastries. All pretty bland and with the exception of one latte, the others were not enjoyed. Pastries also can't be warmed up/microwaved. actually made a conscious effort to walk nearly two miles to visit this café, so I was hoping for a better experience. Unfortunately, the service was underwhelming. There was no greeting, no welcome--just a very indifferent interaction. The coffee itself tasted like any standard coffee you could get elsewhere, including Starbucks. Nothing particularly memorable or worth going out of the way for. I'm also not sure whether they forgot to give me a lid or simply don't provide them. The restaurant is large enough to accommodate a group or if you wanna drop in and have a sweet treat and coffee there are plenty of coffee and dessert options. It's a nice place to hang out with friends or if you're studying for a test and you need to chill this would be the place for you. I rarely write reviews, but I am inspired to write this review based on the subpar quality of this establishment. Service was markedly blah, no extra talking or greeting just impatient bordering on rude. After studiously typing in my one item, it was still not correct. Also they asked my name but just announced the item so I wasn't sure it was mine, since it was not as I asked anyway! Waited an extremely long time for one item (which was not coffee) and it was dry and honestly not really warm so I'm not sure why I waited so long. Maybe the coffee is amazing but I will certainly not be back for anything, as there are other better more friendly options. read more

Dollop Coffee is a cute coffee shop conveniently located near the Northwestern Memorial Hospital. They have big paintings of flowers and Britney Spears. I stumbled across this location from Infatuation's best coffee shops in Chicago guide! I got the nutella mocha latte and my boyfriend got the honey cinnamon latte. They only allow iced drinks to be 16 oz here. The drinks were delicious, the nutella mocha was not too strong and not too sweet- it balanced the milkiness perfectly without being too watery. The interior is spacious and sells a variety of baked goods and other beverages (probiotic sodas, smoothies, and pressed juices). Great spot to stay and work or to grab your order and go. read more

I went here a while ago so I hope I remembered the flavors correctly ! Reasonably priced and awesome coffee. I came here pretty early and it was relatively empty. I was able to get a lot of work done and once I finished, BOOM, the entire shop is full! I love the decor and the environment. We went on Valentine's Day so they had a little card-making section, which I thought was adorable. There's a lot of seating and it's very spacious. The only thing I will comment on is the lack of outlets. The one I was using was connected to a wall by tall stools. It's not a huge issue, but it is something to consider if you are looking for a cafe to do work in. Overall, lovely place :)! read more

One of the smoothest, creamiest lattes I've ever had. Dollop coffee is a dollop of joy! While pricey, the quality of the coffee, attentive service, and convent location makes it entirely worth it. There are seasonal drinks, light fare (sandwiches and salads), homemade pastries, and little snacks for purchase as well. Expect to pay $5-8 for coffee including tip. There are no bathrooms so you have to go to the potbelly. Parking is challenging since it is downtown however the spot is easy to walk to and locate. We wanted to grab some coffee and quick pastries nearby from where we were staying so decided to try dollop. The space inside is big with lots of seating. They were serving their seasonal menu which had a gingersnap cappuccino. I asked if it could be made as a latte so I went with that. We also got a hot caramel latte with extra caramel and two donuts which are from beacon donuts. I don't think we were impressed with either of the coffee drinks we got. They were ok and did the job for a caffeine fix, but taste wise not the best. My iced latte felt very milk heavy and it didn't seem like there was extra caramel in the other latte. Quick Summary: - Ambience is comfortable and quiet - Coffee is not sour - Plenty of seats and tables to sit and relax First thing we did in the morning was to find a place to have our coffee. 8am in the morning that day, the sun was bright and reflecting against the tall buildings. It was also growing pretty hot despite the early morning. Usually, I don't order iced coffee, but here, yes, iced coffee sounded appealing than hot brewed coffee. Entering the cafe, it is very spacious. There are plenty of tables, chairs, couches, and bar seats. I think I also recall seats outside the cafe, but because it was so hot, that was clearly vanished in my memory. A gigantic chalkboard looms above from the high ceiling on the different types of coffee and how to order a bagel sandwich. There is also a propped up sign near the front of the line that displays seasonal drinks. All of us ordered iced coffees: the Americano, the spicy mocha, and I got the drink that was on the sign: Hannah coconut latte. We also hungry, so we ordered two different bagel sandwiches. The sign on the back kindly explained the different bagel types, the spreads, and to choose two toppings. The first bagel is plain, and it had cream cheese with tomatoes and red onions. The second one was sesame with hummus with tomatoes and cheese. The lattes were called by the order name rather than my name, so I took my receipt to show that I have ordered the three drinks. The bagels arrived a few minutes later after the coffees. The iced coffees were made really well. Despite containing ice, which dilutes the drink, the coffee flavor remained through to the last sip. I loved the subtle coconut flavor that blended with the coffee. It cooled me down comfortably from the warm walk down the streets of Chicago. The bagel sandwiches were delicious as well. The outer shell was crispy and the inside was fluffy and light, not dense at all. Evenly spread cream cheese (and hummus in the other bagel sandwich) was tasted on each bite, and the vegetables. The vegetables were sweet! The tomato was bright red like a rose and sweet and had the nice tomato flavor. The red onions were raw but the general stinging spice was not there, so it created a great texture aspect for the bagel sandwich. First cafe in Chicago, and I had a splendid moment here. read more

Apparently I was here 9 years ago! I knew they had multiple locations but wasn't sure if this was the same one. I popped for an early morning visit two mornings during a recent work trip. The space was clean, filled with natural light and featured a large pup-friendly patio out front. The location is equidistant between Lake Michigan and the Magnificent Mile.
