Once in awhile I just need my Starbucks fix! I have enjoyed my guava lemonade tea, passion fruit lemonade tea, etc. But for some ready, when I get a coffee I feel like it's missing something. I like it sweet and I never change anything with my drinks from any store. My coffees here seem to always be less sweet. Today was the worst. A coworker took my coffee order and went to pick it up(we work nearby) I got a grande hot caramel macchiato. When she gave it to me it felt light so I jokingly asked if she spilled it and she said no. I took one sip and thought wow it's really light and I tilted the cup more than expected. This Starbucks is the best normal (i.e. non-Reserve) Starbucks around this area. Since the traffic seems to lighter at this store, being further from a main commuting thoroughfare (like San Carlos Ave, Industrial Rd, and El Camino), the staff at this store has more of a chance to show how friendly and helpful they are. But, they're still as efficient as the baristas at busier locations; recently, my order was ready by the time I finished paying and walked to the end of the counter. Because of how the space is laid out, there's room for several indoor tables even with COVID distancing. The space with those tables has huge windows that let in a ton of natural light, so this location would be a great one to come and sit awhile or meet someone for coffee. As with both Starbucks on Laurel, parking right by the store can be limited, so if you are driving in, take that into account. The nearby parking lot is just for customers at the local market, so street parking is a better option. read more

Pleasantly surprised how clean and fast service! I adore the puppy's pictures enjoying their puppy fraps. So cute!!!! The store stays pretty stocked on their baked goods and mostly all their flavors haven't run out. Says a lot about a place when they run smooth and efficient. Probably the most comfy Starbucks I've been to. Lively, nice ambience, and very friendly servers. I had ordered for mobile pickup and they were missing an item and rather than hassle me they made it really easy for me to swap out and gave me a concession. Really appreciate that. Updated review- Went in again today for a COFFEE with a friend and could not stop to think what a nice place this is to go to after or before lunch. The staff is always stellar including the former Manager that was here that moved onto Foster City and the new manager Sherri who is a very nice and caring person to speak with . I have last generation bose noise cancellation headphones and can hear the music as if they were nothing. I have been working from here for more than a week now and it's like that everyday. Maybe I caught them on a bad day. Seems like there was new people, so new that when I asked for something right on the menu board the girl taking my order argued with me that they did not make Smoothies, I said look behind you, she does then asked another person if we really make smoothies, and the other girl says it's on the board right? SO she takes my order, the choice is strawberry banana or greens. I'll have the strawberry banana. What size, it only comes in one size I say, she says what size is that, the other girls comes over and hits a button and says there only one button because theres only one size. She then asks me "do you want banana in that" I must look at her like she's crazy at this point and so I said it only comes as strawberry banana and I answer for strawberry banana so I guess yeah, I want banana in it. She does not take my name although most do, some Starbucks do not. The team was a little disheveled, going in circles and back and forth but not really doing anything so I figure I have time to go use the rest room. I do and come back and although there is only one order in front of me they still have not started either one, seems they have run out of ice, and yogurt, and bananas. Well another woman comes out who is either the manager or at least experienced. She tells someone to get ice form the back, shows another person where the bananas are at, pulls out the yogurt from the fridge and tells another girl to go ahed and make it. Now this is not rocket science but girl making my drink does something wrong and has to dump it out and start over again. She does and pours my smoothie into a cup but it comes up about 2 inches short. She grabs another cup of the same size that is empty and pours in my drink into it then looks surprised that it's still 2 inches form the top (Blond moment?). The women who seems to know whats going on comes over and shows her for the 3rd time the measuring cut my drink ingredients are supposed to be measured with and proceeds to make a little more to fill my cup. Almost there, but she hands my drink to another girl who is having trouble getting the medium lid to go on the large (Venti) cup. This seems to be really confusing for her but finally the one person who knows how to place a lid on a cup comes over and takes it from her and puts on the right sized lid. Since my 4 year old grand daughter can figure out to put a small lid on a small cup and a large lid on the large cup I'm guessing this women is either not four yet or has just come back from a life time in the jungle and had never seen a plastic cup lid before. Anyway I've now read an entire back page of a newspaper that is sitting there while watching the keystone cops act play out. And I finally get my smoothie. I visit this Starbucks occasionally when I'm running errands in the area and it's typically a good experience. Today though the team went above and beyond. I'd ordered a pastry and a latte and sat down to enjoy both. I promptly spilled almost all the latte on the table, floor, wall -- quite the mess. I was embarrassed to say the least and went to one of the team members, who was emptying the garbage. He cheerfully cleaned up my mess, even going so far as to try to make it their fault because the lids sometimes don't stay on -- but I assured him it was my fault. Anyway, I sat down to enjoy my pastry and what remained of my latte. That staff member was going off shift, but before he walked out the door he brought me a replacement latte. Last Monday the mobile order thing went down during peak time in the morning so there was absolute chaos, the place was extremely busy and people were starting to have meltdowns. All the orders were backed up and it was a real mess. This review is in two parts 0 stars for the majority of staff in there that just seemed Clueless, even the manager had this attitude of, well whatever, strolling around as if her calm persona was going to resolve it, some staff where causing more harm than good, so slow. The 5 stars is for the ping girl with tattoos called keza I think, not sure but she was the only one that had common sense and a fast work pace, she took control of barista station while still making sure everyone's drinks and food orders were getting out as quick as she could and she did it with a smile and apologized to everyone as she obviously knew people are trying to get to work read more

The coffee is good, as usual, but service was not up-to-par. I paid with a credit card, because who touches cash during Covid? When I didn't put any thing in the tip jar the cashier stared at me, glanced at the jar, and then stared at me again. I said to her, "I wish there was a tip option on your credit card machine." This is a far better seating place than the Starbucks about three blocks away on Main Street. At first, I couldn't figure out why they put one so close but then in one morning, while waiting for my car to be serviced, I was there for about a half hour and some 40 people came and went. Hmmm okay then. :) This is your typical Starbucks setting. I really like the lemon pound cake and a cafe latte with soy milk. I'm sure everything else is good as well. The big benefit for this one are the chairs and sofas that let you lounge around for a time. I don't think they have wifi but it's not a bad place to casually sit with friends and pass the day. The Perfect Cup of Coffee: I have visited Starbucks Coffee Shops all over the world including Taipei and Tokyo. OK, if you have seen one Starbucks you have pretty much seen them all. Well, each does have a unique look, shape and size. The good news is that regardless of which shop you visit, you will get the same great coffee! I highly recommend both their hot and cold coffee drinks. My favorite drinks are: Cinnamon Dolce Latte, Pikes Place and a Vanilla Latte. During the Christmas season, they have a special Christmas blend; I live for this blend! A dirty little secret (don't tell anyone); I usually buy enough Christmas blend beans to last me until late summer. I am a big fan of Starbucks and a frequent customer. Knowing where to find the closest Starbucks is important to me and I have many listed in my PDA. When in a new city or region, my first task is to find the nearest Starbucks. read more

Just so you know...this is the "Plain Jane" Starbucks in San Carlos! True, this place has a "sister store" just 3 blocks away, on the sexier corner of San Carlos Ave and Laurel! That one is more glam...what with its outdoor seating and planter boxes and spacious corner perch...it's near some cooler bars/restaurants too. The clientele: clusters of RHOSC wannabees and escaped (from Menlo) hedge fund managers barking into their phone always littering the place...you get the picture! In contrast...the Starbucks at 856 Laurel...admittedly on the "dull" side of Laurel, has a much warmer vibe...friendlier crew, efficient service and you are never given the bum's rush! PLUS it's right near the Post Office and across from Bianchini's Market! Meaning it's easy to swoop in and out pre/post visit for stamps or groceries, & satisfy your coffee (or mini scone fix ) Bonus: Parking is easier here since it 's dance card is less full! They get to know the regulars and work hard. Only issue is parking can be an issue on Laurel, especially with part of the street still blocked off for outdoor dining. I never thought I would be praising a second Starbucks just a stone's throw away from the first on Laurel, let alone that I would ever be caught dead patronizing it. I was wrong. Yes, its closer and parking is easier. Its roomier and has sofas and chairs for impromptu meetings. This is a community Starbucks that has a lot of senior citizens and families come by so it can get pretty loud, but I actually enjoy all the background noise. I have used the mobile app to order my coffee several times and they have messed up the order EVERY SINGLE TIME! and when asked to correct the order they have the nerve to throw out attitude.
