I think this place is overrated. I guess if you want to order from the first Starbucks, it's cool. They have a "special roast" that's only available at this location and one other that you can get for an extra $1 per drink so we decided we might as well but it tastes exactly the same as every other Starbucks coffee, You get in line to order then get in another small area line to wait for your drink and then quickly ushered out of the store. The vibe is very amusement park ish. I would never go back and the line is absolutely wild for the questionable service received. read more

My mom and I stumbled into this line. It was not that long the line it was about a 15 minute wait. I would say if it's not a long line to wait in line to be able to experience it but if you were to be a long line, I would say just Fargo this experience. My mom had gotten some merchandise and I had ordered a drink that they had came out from their seasonal items. I never tried it before and it was good. It's the same as any other Starbucks I think that it's just for the experience. It is quite packed inside the store and quite chaotic. It's pretty easy to figure out why Starbucks lost it's mojo. What started out at this Seattle location as a warm and welcoming big chill setting where hanging out and plugging in has given way to a retail madhouse/assembly line of interminable waits and baristas who need the periodic chart of the elements to complete the average drink order. Nine dollar lattes and burnt black coffee do not exactly inspire loyalty either. It's not hard to figure out but at this point, the chain has more in common with the shareholder metrics of a McDonald's than turning back the clock in favor of a long overdue reset. Not to be a total downer but if you haven't noticed, the wholesale price of coffee beans has doubled over the last six months so I suspect that's more good news for Starbucks down the road as these futures come online. A hole-in-the-wall in Pike Place Market, but definitely one of the main attractions. Line was out of the door, but the service was efficient, and everyone got through in a timely manner. I love a funky cold brew, and they had a seasonal special going. Their Amaretto Cherry Cold Brew was decadent. If it's still on the menu, I highly recommend trying it. I'm sure you won't go wrong with their other seasonals, though. Would recommend if you need some caffeine while exploring Pike Place. read more

This is the original Starbucks! Located at Pike Place! There was a bit of a line but it wasn't too bad. Once you are inside the ordering process and the drinks were fast. There is a friendly staff member that calls you in and has you order your drinks and any special merch you would like. Then you have time to explore all the goodies and decor while you wait for your drinks to be made. Staff are super friendly and upbeat! My chai was made very well maybe the best, as the barista steamed in my cinnamon and then added some more on top. Very cool to see the original Starbucks location with the original mermaid design. Had to make a stop by the original Starbucks . It's a small counter for ordering and the baristas to make drinks . The other side is a shelf for Starbucks memorabilia . All drinks and store purchases (cups, mugs etc) are purchased at the counter . The cashier will bring the guest the merchandise (mugs , cups etc ) including any drink orders from behind the counter . There is a wait and line to enter but it goes pretty fast . It's a piece of history I would recommend. You can only purchase original Starbucks merchandise from this store. You cannot purchase 1912 merchandise at other Starbucks locations . read more

We came into town for the evening after a beautiful week in Victoria BC with the desire to see just two things... the Space Needle and the original Star Bucks. We checked the website and found the 1912 Pike Place Star Bucks store would be open until 8pm so we walked from the Space Needle and got to the store at 7:02 just to find a note on the door that said " Hours 7am - 7pm. We wanted to buy the new 1971 Roast there and check it out. We are from VA and can't say if we will ever be there again... very disappointing. It's cool to say you've been to the original Starbucks, but other than the historical significance, it's pretty average. The drinks are the same as any other Starbucks, and the line can get ridiculously long. The interior has some charm, but it's very small and crowded. The OG Starbucks. Worth a look to say you have been but it is a regular Starbucks coffee shop. The cool thing is they have merch only sold in this store which is super unique. Merch and coffee! The line is very long but moves pretty fast. I would say I waited 20 min and the line had maybe 25 people in front of me before entering the store. The staff is friendly and I commend them dealing with the continuously large crowd. They did not rush me and were so efficient and helpful and excited for me to be in the store which I thought was cool. Definitely worth a one time visit ! read more

I bought one of their Been There series mugs and the location on the mug says Pike Place along with "First Starbucks" on it! It was not a lot of room in the facility but they were able to handle it well. Long line we waited for almost one hour under the hot sun, there's no shaded area or sun umbrella. The wait is bad but once you made it inside you will be trilled to see lot of special edition mugs and souvenirs. Incredible food and a really fun vibe. The neon lights and decor actually make you feel like you're at a night market in Bangkok. The Khao Soi was rich, flavorful, and had the perfect amount of authentic spice--they don't water down the heat here. The day we went there was a line out the door but we waited and enjoyed the surroundings. The setting is very close to Pike Place market and it's such a fun little area. We're lucky to realize it when it was still very early and there was only a good amount of people i can handle being shoulder to shoulder with. They have souvenir's "menu" right when you walk in and managed to snag a couple of their new Seattle mugs. The staff are so lively early this morning helping, answering questions what you may have and just getting things going to not overcrowd the inside of the store. It is none other than any other coffee shop... you gotta come to this particular original location! They sold some very limited edition Seattle mugs and also sold tons of merchandise as well. Food: 4.6/5 I got a butter croissant and a passion iced tea latte with lavender-- call that a win-win honestly. To be very honest, both the croissant and the passion iced tea latte exceeded my expectations. The baristas made them slowly and with care, which I appreciated a lot, but I felt like the passion iced tea could have been steeped a little more given that the passion iced tea was already sweet by the tea bag. Service: 5/5 Phenomenal service. Despite a 25-minute wait to enter the store due to limited quantity and lots of inventory that they did have, the other partners at the front of the store maintained professionalism and escorted us in. Compared to coming here six years ago, I would say the service is the same -- but with LOTS more limited edition options that they don't normally have in the states LOL. Atmosphere: 3.9/5 The space is a little tight, and with the different tourists coming in and out of the store, I decided to dock a whole star due to the environment and tightness I had to experience. Some guests were not nice and threw major shade, which I absolutely did not appreciate at all. It's the original Starbucks so how can you not....until you realize the line goes until the end of the block. I had been to Pike's Place just to gawk at the line and chuckle, never thinking I would wait in line for the same drink I could get at any similarly named location. I finally took the plunge and ended up in the line, but all I can say is; GO EARLY (don't you need coffee in the mornings, anyway?) it's a win-win)! The line was half as long but still moved fairly quickly. Finally got in and there's nice doodads to look around at inside. Ended up purchasing a tumbler exclusive to this Starbucks along with my favorite drink. So the pros are it's a special, unique Starbucks with history to boot. I came around 10am on a Saturday. Surprisingly the line to get in wasn't as long as expected. When i entered, i was kinda disappointed that it was quite small. Yes, the wait is normally long. We went early on Sunday morning and the line wasn't too bad, it was around 8 am. Once you get in this tiny starbucks, it is still crowded with people in line and waiting for drinks or looking at stuff to buy. They give you a sheet with all the promotional items they sell, we got a few of them, the cups we bought seem to range $40-$50 each. The Baristas are very patient and fun once you get in and have the best attitude out of all the starbucks I've been too, they must pick the best of all the employees to work at this small but iconic shop since it's the OG of all starbucks. We were shocked by the line outside the door but it moved fairly quickly and in no time we were inside. Super excited to check out the Original Starbucks in Seattle! Came across this place over a Saturday afternoon and there was a long line. Stopped by another morning (early) and there wasn't much of a line! The store is cozy and warm. I entered and a staff greeted me explaining about the menu and the displays of products are not to be grabbed. Once ordered it'll be available at the counter. There's a line (closest) to counter to order when ready. Ordered the Lavender Honey Latte. It was delicious! Such a good balance of coffee and lavender. I've tried a few and this is by far my fav!!
