Read some of these other reviews to see if people shared my sentiments. I have no idea what some of these orders are. A flat white? A ristresso? A 4 pump skinny latte? You don't need to Check In @ Starbucks. Although it's been "an institution" in South Orange for the 15 years that I've lived here, I only recently started coming here for my morning 'venti half caf iced coffee w/caramel' fix. Maybe I'm used to better Starbucks, or maybe I'm just a New Yorker? Let's start with the pros: good coffee, great location, nicely renovated. Okay if you plan to sit down, meet a friend and have a bunch of time to spare. Cons: Although I'm sure they're nice, the staff at this Starbucks is Painfully slow! Never ever ever ever (ever) try to get your coffee here in the morning UNLESS you have at least 15 minutes to spare, and there are less than three people in line. You will miss your train. The staff will NOT go any faster, or stop their internal socializing even if you politely let them know your train is leaving in three minutes, AND you've been standing there waiting for your already paid-for drink for 10 already. Even during morning rush, they talk and joke amongst themselves. Also, the milk/sugar tables are never filled, and always a mess. Small town yes, but with tons of city people who commute every day. Get it together already. My suggestion? Get your coffee at Cait & Abby's next door. read more

This Starbucks location needs a complete overhaul. I go only on a Saturday morning and order within the mobile app. I cannot get my order in less than 30-35 min. Today when I asked how much longer I was told I would just need to wait. I waited and waited and still no Chai Latte. I asked to speak to the supervisor who gave me attitude that I was complaining that 30 min is too long to wait. And it still wasn't done! I asked to speak to the Manager and the supervisor refused to give me the managers name. Her only response was "not here" and turned her back on me. A different worker told me the Manager's name is Lily. I will be putting a call in to speak with her on Monday. They said they had only one person making drinks but I saw 5 people working. Any time I order it takes greater than 30 min for a hot drink. Either place more workers on shift or teach time management with orders or something. read more

What a great location for America's least-sketchy coffee chain! (Or, at least in my opinion...) This Starbucks is under the train station in the heart of South Orange and is the perfect place for a cup of joe or your favorite blended beverage before you head to the city. There are tables scattered about which are either all empty or all full... funny how that happens. You may not always have the most enthusiastic barista, but the beverages are almost always made perfectly. Recommended. read more

service is usually decent but on Tuesday @ 9:15 AM i stood in front of the cashiers register for a full Five minutes before any customer service person even looked my way. Finally i had to loudly say Excuse Me! If not supervision they at least need a Lead Person! read more

This Starbucks location does the job. They always get my drink order right and when there's a line, which there usually is, given its location, it seems to move more swiftly than other locations I've visited. The layout gives people some space as there's seating throughout the store. They're located right in the middle of downtown and next to the train station which is great when you need a pick me up before your commute. read more

Theyve always got my order wrong and without warning after I've preordered and even paid for my food a few times they've told me they're out. The other day they got my order wrong a second time after getting my original order wrong. They always get my order wrong or are always out or dont feel like making whatever I want to order here. My iced vanilla coffee was good, but the service sucked. The female cashier this afternoon was rude, did not smile, and was non-observant! She just stood at the register while my coffee was being made, while i had to say "Excuse me!" twice just to get her attention as i stood at the baked goods asking for a bun. I said to myself when the transaction was complete, "I'm going to see if she says you're welcome after I say thank you." So, I said thank you to her as she handed me my purchases and sure enough she didnt respond and just looked down at the register. Meanwhile the manager was standing 4 ft away into his own thing, not paying attention to the piss poor customer service she was giving! SMDH! The coffee was good tho. read more

I never have high expectations when I'm going to a location that's about to close. I know folks are trying to get home. I get it, but I walked in about 30 min prior to closing time. A batista was in the cafe sweeping while her coworker was in the back engaged in some shut down duty that kept him off the floor. I had to ask if they were still open b4 someone acknowledged me. Then I ordered a Chai and had to ask for foam. It's supposed to come with it. For $5 a drink, I don't think a properly made drink and acknowledgment is alot to ask for. read more

Average Starbucks location. A bit small and cramped, so not the greatest place to go for study or work. With so many cute places in South Orange village, I would prefer to go somewhere else. But Starbucks has the advantage of being open later than most of them. read more

This was my first visit to this Starbucks and experience was unpleasant. The shift supervisor Melissa or that what she claimed her title was has a very rude personality when it comes to customers. If you go there try to avoid her! read more

The staff that are present are great 90% of the time, but this has to be the most understaffed Starbucks I've ever been to. Time after time the line is out the door and one person is on register and one person is behind the bar even though they could easily double that. This is a busy train station location, it should be staffed as such. The line at this Starbucks moves only because people walk out before they get to the register. read more

Always stop in before my morning commute to NYC. I've always had good, timely service and haven't really ever had any complaints. The couple of times I've seen other customers dissatisfied with their drinks, the baristas always fixed it with a smile. When it's really crowded, it can be a little hard to hear over everyone/the drinks being made. But thats not anything anyone can really help. In all, it's a perfectly fine shop. read more

Love love love Starbucks as always!!! This one super close to me and super convenient in the morning before I go to work. Always clean and tidy and very quick with taking care of their line making mornings a little easier to deal with. I also have the app which makes a lot of things a little easier. Customer service is normally very good. Can't say I have any complaints and will continue to go here as long as it's open and right next to my apartment! read more

I hadn't had Starbucks in years , but had to meet a friend here... I forgot how horrible their coffee was. They do have free wifi though.

This Starbucks just got renovated again and the condiment bar has been moved from directly opposite the counter to next to the counter, so even easier to mix drink than before. Other that still the same Starbucks just freshly renovated with new furniture and a fresh paint job throughout the store. Still the best Starbucks in the area to visit. read more

I go to this Starbucks regularly and love the people. Today there was, what I assume was, a manager on the premises (I have never seen her before). She was giving one of the baristas a performance appraisal right at one of the tables and loud enough for all those around to hear what she was saying. I have been in the corporate world for 16 years and I mentioned that she might want to do that kind of review in private. She did not receive this well and was rude and rolled her eyes. Makes me wonder how she is at management level. I'll always come back but am very disappointed in the interaction today. read more

This Starbucks is centrally located under the train station. My son is currently commuting to art school and I hang here and get work done while I wait for him. I've had a couple of pretty okay experiences, but the other night I had an experience that made me think I might not be a customer here anymore. My son missed the train. I went in to get a cappuccino. There were two young women. One was grinding coffee and the other was headed toward the back. The one grinding coffee turned around like twice and saw me standing at the register. She said nothing. Didn't say just a minute, I'll be with you in a sec, nothing. Just eyed me up and down and kept grinding away. I decided to go to the bathroom 1st and try again when I came back. When I got to the back the girl who I had seen leaving the counter was basically in the doorway of the stockroom on her cell phone. I used the bathroom and when I came out both were back at the counter. One was still grinding coffee beans and the other was standing near the expresso/coffee maker. I wasn't up for trying again. I walked across the street to Dunkin Donuts. Their coffee is cheaper and honestly I like it better. read more
