This is a great concept, amazing food, farm to table, select wines, very innovative drinks and a wonderful (but limited) menu. I would definitely recommend, but for a night where you have plenty of time. Service is slow (note that this is probably because of COVID and inability to secure employees), and the place is loud. We are in town doing genealogy research & needed a good place for lunch & quite a few are closed on Monday but not this gem. A very cute kinda hipster place with an upscale feel but not super fancy. We had the fish tacos & BLT for lunch & both were excellent. We were so impressed that we made reservations for dinner! Dinner was even better than lunch. Started with the arugula prosciutto crostini which was wonderful. Flavors were perfect. Our main courses were the Salmon & the Curried Chicken. Both were amazing. Very fresh & the flavors were perfect. We finished by having a piece of their homemade tiramisu -yum. All of their desserts looked amazing & we may be stopping back for lunch tomorrow before we head out of town to get a few for the road....maybe the sticky toffee and/or coconut rum cake. read more

Had a thoroughly delicious dinner here of cod in a coconut dill sauce with the most perfectly cooked zucchini I've ever had. Family had burgers and the clam pasta and everyone loved all of it. Atmosphere was very good - nice but not fussy. Service could have been a bit more attentive, but the staff was friendly and we had everything we needed. I don't know what to say. Stardust was a revelation. We stopped in Lewisburg during our vacation and our daughter, G, decided we should stop here. Always listen to your ten-year-old, guys. When we got here, we weren't expecting to spend a lot of money and this does have pricier things for dinner. Here's the deal: split it. They brought out the half portions to each of us, so we weren't eating from the same plate. And the smaller portions were perfect. Food. We started with bread service which was sliced bread with olive oil and a balsamic glaze. Everyone except our six-year-old loved it. It was so great. But I wish we had all saved the bread to have with our entrees. More on that later. Then, our side salads arrived. They were crisp and fresh and the house dressing was flavorful, but not overpowering. I really enjoyed the simple, unassuming salad. Our entrees arrived next and guys, I was floored. C and I split the salmon linguine special and I can't stop thinking about it. The salmon was cooked PERFECTLY and the skin was super crisp. It was sitting on a bed of mixed vegetables, linguine, and a creamy chimichurri sauce. I will dream about this dish later. It was that good. Nana and Pa split the cod linguine and poets should write about it. The cod was light and delicious. The linguine was swimming in a buerre blanc sauce with lemon and they practically inhaled it. I took my daughters spoon and slurped up the rest of my dad's sauce and I'm not ashamed of that at all. G had the pasta Sicily and she loved it. The sausage, cheese, and sauce made this one of her favorites, ever. E had the tomato bisque and I stole a bite of it and I could have eaten the whole thing. Finally, we had our desserts. We got a warm chocolate brownie and chocolate cake with butter cream frosting. But the highlight of the evening was the sticky toffee pudding. It was warm, decadent, and the sauce was a dream come true. I can't think of a better ending to this delicious meal. TL;DR: While dinner can be a bit pricey, do it anyway. Split some entree and get dessert. Go for the fish or specials and save room for the sticky toffee pudding. You won't be disappointed. Personal note: I recently went through a personal tragedy and stopped eating for a while. This was the first meal I have had that I actually enjoyed (and ate every bite of) in nearly six weeks. While passing through Lewisburg on The Run for The Wall, I was very pleasantly surprised to find a foodie restaurant such as the Stardust on yelp. Nestled on a picturesque historic Main Street, the Stardust's charms are quietly alluded to from the outside. Upon entry, the warm and inviting atmosphere was accented by the staff. I had the pleasure of enjoying the skills of Jay, Tristan, Carson and chef Dillon. Quiet, efficient and charming, they provided detailed information about the epicurean delights I was going to experience. From drinks through dessert, it was nice to know about the local sourcing in which the restaurant prides itself. I look forward to returning the next time I'm in the area. read more

I visited Stardust Cafe with several other young ladies during a girls weekend in West Virginia. We rented a cabin, did some hiking, laughed a lot, and hoped for a nice dinner out on Saturday night. We chose Stardust Cafe after perusing the menu online and reading several good reviews, and were looking forward to our evening. Unfortunately, several aspects of our experience left us slightly disappointed. Including: 1. Our server. She was unfriendly, cold, and acted as if we were inconveniencing her when we asked a question about the menu, or requested a substitution due to food allergies. We inquired several times about the base of a soup (veggie, chicken, or beef stock), and she forgot each time to check. When we asked a third time, she shouted the question across the restaurant to the kitchen. She also neglected to inform us that they had run out of garlic green beans, which the menu noted were included with each entree. The substitution was sauteed veggies, however one of our party had a sensitivity to some of the specific veggies, which could have resulted in health issues. 2. The menu. It was unclear regarding which items were and were not included with various selections. The entrees section noted that each entree came with bread, a salad, and side of garlic green beans (see above), however those of us who ordered pastas also received starter salads. But no bread. And no veggie side. One of us who ordered a dinner salad received nothing until the salad arrived, and was left wistfully watching as everyone else enjoyed bread and salad. 3. The price for value. Although we all agreed the food was fine, it was NOT great, especially for the price. Some examples include an arugula and beet salad -$15, mussels and linguine - $26, Thai shrimp bowl - $28, and a burger - $18. 4. The logistics. The restaurant automatically adds a gratuity to parties of 6 or more, which is fine, but the gratuity is 20%, and we did not agree that our server was deserving of this degree of gratuity. They also do not allow for the check to be split, so we were awkwardly digging into our pockets and purses to locate cash, or Venmo-ing each other to pay for our dinner. Overall, Stardust Cafe looks better online than in reality, and I would recommend choosing another local restaurant if you are truly hoping to enjoy a nice Saturday night dinner in Lewisburg. read more

I came here with three of my friends for dinner after lab one day and ordered a Trust Me salad (avocado, feta, tomato, sweet red onion, The Crazy Baker Granola & our secret dressing). It was amazing, and I usually don't even like feta. :O Our server was very friendly and all in all, the food was delicious. The only reason as to why it's not 5 stars is really just that I find it rather over-priced. :[ $14 is pretty steep for a salad. We recently moved to White Sulphur Springs after almost 40 years in Miami. The Stardust Cafe has been one of our best finds. The food is reasonably priced and ridiculously good. Today I had the tomato basil soup and the Veggie Panini. The soup may have been the best tomato basil I have ever had. The Panini was out of this world--a gorgeous mixture of fresh vegetables, feta and a tangy vinaigrette on ciabatta, pressed into a thin & crispy sandwich. I really dig this cafe. The food is gourmet, and healthy with plenty of vegan and gluten free options. I had the chicken curry and my guy had the lamburger: both dishes disappeared. Server Josh was attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. The menu is sophisticated enough that this place could be snobby, but my partner and I felt right at home in t-shirts, shorts and baseball caps. I also love that they use repurposed wood as tables. My only complaint is that there were no vegan gluten free desserts- because the sweets displayed in the bakery counter looked delectable. This is a boutique eatery. The menu is small and not inexpensive. If you just need coffee and desert and/ or appetizer you can get out ok. They advertise farm to table and based on the excellent fresh side salad i can believe it. The crostini of the day was excellent. The lamb sandwich was very tasty. The red curry with shrimp was a excellent and a large serving. They have two taps with local brews, some common bottles of beer, some cider, and a good wine selection. Service was great. read more

My FAVORITE place in the area. I daydream about the pork shank entree for dinner. We've been coming to the Greenbrier area for about 16 years and once we found Stardust, nothing else compares. They have a very nice wine list and two rotating taps that are always unique alone with several bottle selections. Service is always friendly and professional. Desserts, which are in the front case when you walk in look amazing. But did I mention the pork shank....... My Schweety and I are the kind of people that like variety. Stardust always has a wonderful selection of local choices from veggies, breads and protein. Fresh is the first thing that comes to mind when I think of this restaurant. But no one does pork like this. It is out of this world tender with creamy mashed potatoes and roasted apples. A perfect balance. I MUST get it when I make it here. On our most recent visit, Schweety had the sashimi tuna entree which was SOOO fresh. The accompanying rice was just right. Please forgive me for jumping ahead, but before the entrees, the freshly baked bread with olive oil and balsamic reduction and mixed greens salad really set the tone for a wonderful meal. This place was one of just a couple of restaurants that I had book marked before heading to the area. When I got here, the locals recommended both this place and the French Goat. Since I was in the mood for a salad and I remembered that Stardust has a salad that was featured in Southern Living, I decided on this place. It's right in the heart of downtown. I'm not sure who gave it the "coolest town in the USA" title (that I don't agree with), but that's beside the point. It's surrounded by a few antique stores and health food store. We pararel parked in front and walked in. It's smaller than I expected and has a different decor or feel to it, than I would expect a place called Stardust. It had a subtle European vibe to it. We arrived at about 2:30 and at 3pm they close for the lunch/dinner change over. I didn't know that prior and felt terrible that we kept the waitress there longer than closing time. She was very gracious and understanding. The lunch menu was lacking a few items that I remembered seeing on Yelp... like the Naked burger, that I'd mentioned to my husband. So I think the lunch and dinner menus are different. Anyways, I was there for the salad and that's what I ordered. Our order literally arrived in 5-10 minutes. Although the salad and it's dressing was unique and tasty, the greens were bruised and almost wilted. If the dressing weren't so great, I'd rate the salad itself a 2. It was an extra $6 to add chicken to the salad $2.50 for a tea, everything was a bit pricey and didn't stand up to the hype IMO. read more

When my grandmother said "hole in the wall" I pictured a rat-infested diner. Rats do live in holes in walls. She should have said "amazing local cuisine with an emphasis on fresh seasonal produce, served in a tiny but well-kept building". Located in the adorable town of Lewisburg, this is definitely a place worth stopping. The menu is short but sweet. Appetizers, soups, salads, and entrees only take up a page, while the other page is dedicated to the quirky history of its owner, Destiny. And yet, the combinations of items had me more excited than an excessively long menu that really offers the same chicken 500 times. I had a salad with a silly name ("trust me" or "show me" or something along those lines) and an interesting combination (granola, seeds, cranberries, avocado, lettuce, tomato, onion) but it was exactly what I would have asked for had I known it existed before this moment. The rest of my table tried the two warm rice salads (one curried, one with bacon) and finished every last morsel, and the swordfish (another big hit). After all that scrumptiousness we were about to head out when the waitress brought over the tempting dessert tray. How could we look at those offerings and say no? Hazelnut torte, coconut cake (moist like tres leches), a cappacino and mocha java later, I think we were all about to explode. The quality of the ingredients are second to none, and the serving dishes are also beautiful. What I don't enjoy about the restaurant is the style of serving -- you have to sit down, and be waited on. I didn't like the fact that, even sitting at the bar, I had trouble getting my cup refilled. I had a delicious sandwich, and good luck finding this type of sandwich anywhere else. 3 of us came here during lunch. There was only us in the restaurant when we sat down. Yet it took more than 15 mins to get our drinks. Even though there were 4 staff(5 plus the chef) only 1 was actually doing all the work, the rest just stood around doing nothing. Our poor waitress was running around cooking, making drinks etc. while this Australian guy was chatting/singing/dancing...seriously nobody wants to see/hear that. The food was good though, I had the mum's chicken sandwich, it was a bit on the sweet side but if you have a sweet tooth like me, you'd enjoy it. My husband had the juicy burger, which was ok but was rather dry. My friend had the chicken panini, he said it was good. All in all food and atmosphere was good. I would have given 4 stars but the fact that our waitress had to do everything herself and the Australian guy was kinda being obnoxious ruined it for us. read more
