The Indiana Blt w/a side drink and bar-b-Que chips.

The stardust cafe had to be one of my go-to spot. They service is top tier, shout out to Tanya and the food is excellent. My favorite is the Indiana BLT. During the holiday season (Christmas), they sale decorative Christmas cookies and they are delicious.

First time trying the Stardust Terrace Cafe by Johnathan Byrd's Cafeteria, located on the canal level in the Indiana Historical Society. It was not busy when we were there (a Friday at 11:30). We ate inside and the tables were socially distanced and the cafe is practicing all precautions. The thought of a cheeseburger and fries was very tempting , but the special of the day was meatloaf, mashed potatoes and green beans, which I never have, so I got the special. it was hot and yummy. My dining companions got another meatloaf special, a chicken sandwich and fries, and a build-your-own pizza. It was all tasty. The staff behind the counter very very friendly as well. #yum #ReviewsByRL

    Full Salad with Grilled Chicken

Stardust went under new management sometime last year. There used to be a huge sandwich list and they used to offer quiches, now they have a more condensed menu - which isn't bad, but I do miss one of their old wraps. The new management has been doing a lot of social media outreach and post often on their Instagram and share their daily specials, which is great. I got their gyro special and a side salad, and my boyfriend did a build your own salad. The salads were using fresh ingredients, had a good selection of toppings that you could choose from (you can also add grilled chicken). The gyro was delicious. This is a go-to spot for lunch since I work nearby, and the service is always friendly and fast. They open up seating by the Canal when the weather is good too!

Great food, affordable prices, fantastic service. It's an excellent place to grab lunch when downtown or on the canal. Anything with the bacon jam is AMAZING! They also have a fancy coffee bar now too! There's free parking at the museum when you eat at the cafe. They started serving brunch on Saturdays.

Pecan Brownie. This tastes like a pecan pie with cream cheese icing. It was so good!

*****Stardust Terrace Cafe by Jonathan Byrd's Cafe is open now from 11 am - 2 pm. Tuesday-Saturday. I'm pushing my stars all the way up!! What a great sandwich I had today! The Indiana BLT! It might be one of the best BLT's I've ever had! It had fresh tomatoes, crisp lettuce, and a great homemade mayo sauce not to mention the perfectly pressed bread with the nice cuts of bacon added to the mix. I got the pasta salad as a side and it came with a pickle. You could choose fries, fruit salad, kettle chips or pasta salad. All of it was very good and great quality. The two ladies behind the counter were as friendly as friendly could be! They have a great salad bar that they will make for you also! They will have a carving station as well!!! Oh, if you work downtown stop in they have a great coffee available as well! The lady said come on in and get coffee and expressos! Enter the main entrance to the Indiana Historical Society and head downstairs. They have outdoor seating facing the canal as well and air conditioned indoor seating available.

Food is decent but too expensive. Coke, a veggie quiche (the size of a large muffin with undercooked crust) and a fruit cup for $14.

Ask the Community - Stardust Terrace Cafe

If you are just going to the cafe, is there a cost for parking?

There's metered parking on Ohio street. Just a few quarters. From West St, turn east on New York Street and take the first right into the parking lot. It's connected to the Indiana Historical Society and you can access it by going down the steps.…

My friends both got the ginger lattes and I got a tiramisu latte. Flavor and balance was really good, service was pretty fast, plenty of seating, and beautiful interior/exterior. Many people were doing work or reading, there's artwork that you can peruse. Very cute for a coffee shop date or studying/working, All in an older building that still has a lot of life- that also gives life to the people that walk in and out.

There is space to work and many people were on laptops, but I grabbed my drink to go. You'll have to go up a set of stairs to get to the coffee shop, so be mindful of that. It's also kind of warm - they had a bunch of loud fans going. I don't know if that's just because it's summertime and the building is old and harder to cool or if they had water damage from all the rain and are drying out. It didn't bother me but noting that in case it does bother others.

FYI to those who may have a physical handicap the prevents climbing steps, there are 2 sets of steps to enter the building, I didn't see any handicap accessible entry when I went there. The area to order coffee was really small and could comfortably fit about 5 people in the line inside the ordering station. There were places to stand in the foyer to wait as well, but in my opinion even though there is an open space in the foyer you could be potentially blocking someone's walking space since the ordering station is next to the entrance and the seating areas are in the entryway. I ordered their seasonal From the Past Latte w/ matcha and whole milk. They mentioned that the wait time to receive the drink was 10 minutes, which was understandable with how busy they were, but to my surprise I actually received my drink in half that time. The drink tasted great and if I was still in the area I'd go there again. I definitely noticed for such a small space, the staff were efficient and moved quickly to get everyone their correct orders. All of them were very cordial and professional as well, so that was appreciated.

It is an apartment building. I didn't do my research prior but learned that it used to be a psych ward. Kinda cool. I got their seasonal coconut lavender latte and a signature Sammy. The drink was great, the sandwich took way too long to prepare (we're talking 30 minutes, no joke). I was only annoyed bc I was so hungry, other than that- I didn't care about the wait bc I had nowhere to be. Overall- If I was in the neighborhood and craving a yummy coff treat, I'd return- I did really like my drink.

This spot is just off the creek, with a decent parking lot and a drive through. It has a deeper warmer green than a Starbucks, and it draws a much warmer crowd too. We chatted often with the people in this shop! And we visited twice. How welcoming is that? The breakfast burrito is nothing flashy, but definitely warm gooey goodness. What sets it apart is the sauce: creamy, gently spiced, something like a seasoned mayo but not spicy. Coffee, of course, is the backbone here, and it's handled with a kind of calm precision. Our barista kindly alerted my partner and me that a warm blueberry latte would have oatmeal because of course the blueberry curdles regular milk. It was great attention to detail, and it's why we came back again and again during our week long trip. They had a special for every day! Shout out to the orange blossom latte which made me feel like a fairy amidst the city's tulips.

I think I waited at least 15 minutes before it was my turn to order. Once I got up to the pick up window, things went faster but I think I should have just gone in and it would have actually been faster than the drive thru. The coffee was ok. I ordered a seasonal bonfire cold brew and it was way too sweet for my liking. I also didn't really care for the taste of the cold brew unfortunately. And since the menu didn't have descriptions of what was in things, I basically guessed this would taste like a s'more and was correct. It was just too much for me and I only ended up drinking half of it.

The croissant cinnamon roll was buttery, flaky, and perfectly glazed, while the Danish had a rich, creamy filling without being overly sweet. The staff was friendly and helpful, and everything in the pastry case looked as good as it tasted. I have an allergy and they were able to easily answer questions. I come mostly for the breads and the cinnamon rolls made from croissant dough. I do have to say I preferred the 'old' way these were made which was with a lot less icing. But I get that the change was probably done on request as folks generally prefer the extra sweet things here. Don't get me wrong, I will still continue to devour my fair share of these delicious works of art. And you cannot go wrong with the bread around here. I tend to freeze quite a bit of it since I don't live near an Amelia's. I have to say it does freeze well, especially if you toast it a little after thawing it.
