I ended up having brunch at The Roost twice over the weekend, and that's about the highest compliment I can give. On my first visit, I had the egg white omelet with added turkey sausage. It was fresh, filling, and cooked perfectly. But whatever you do, don't skip the hash brown casserole. It was so good that I ordered it both mornings. It's rich, cheesy, and absolutely delicious. The second time, I ordered The Sunrise--two eggs your way with your choice of protein and a side. And yes... I went with the hash brown casserole again. No regrets. The food was consistently excellent, the service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere made me want to linger. I especially loved the outdoor seating. It has a relaxed, welcoming vibe that's perfect for enjoying a slow morning over brunch. One fun surprise: they have identical twin servers, Ella and Cat. When I was there, they were both wearing red, which made it nearly impossible to tell them apart. It definitely added a fun conversation to the experience! Had the Roost while running errands! Off the bat, I enjoyed the ambiance. It's family friendly and it's larger inside than what it looks like on the outside. I sat at the bar for breakfast and my waitress was stellar! Overall, the staff is awesome and those that tended to me were friendly, outgoing, and ensured I was doing ok! We had such a delicious breakfast out first day in Indy. Great and large breakfast meals to appease everyone. We even got an extra meal of French toast for nibbles in the morning and late night fun! The the next morning we all had another meal we wanted to try and came back for, so round 2 did not disappoint. I had Spinach Florentine with 1 egg, nice option of less meal, the first day. I was in the area and decided to try this place out. I remember when it was Sahm's. I ordered the sunrise with coffee. It got scrambled eggs, bacon, hashbrowns and toast. The coffee was luke warm so I sent it back and drank water. The scramble eggs were ok but the best part of the meal was the hashbrowns. Our server was attentive and very lively. Its a decent size restaurant with outside seating. The parking lot, entry way and bathroom is handicap accessible. I might try other options if I'm out that way. read more

I keep forgetting about this restaurant. When I moved into my home, I received a discount card to try them out and never got around to it. Finally, remembered it existed and I am so glad that I did. Breakfast was busy on a Saturday. We saw a wait list but were able to find two spots at the bar (which is where I love to sit anyway). We seated at the bar and were instantly greeted. They were very busy and we knew this, so no issues with timeframe (although truthfully it was overall great for timing). Drinks were great, hubby got the bloody mary and I was able to try the tequila coffee drink, who knew! Able to get some great breakfast and I am a pancake connoisseur and I loved these pancakes!! I went here during Devour week with a group and the majority of us ordered off the devour menu. I had the Chutty Chutty, which was a double shot espresso, chai, white chocolate, and oatmilk. It was good but not hot at all. The Burrata & Melon ratio of melon, prosciutto, burrata cheese, and balsamic glaze was not right. There was too much melon and not enough glaze..... I absolutely love The Roost--a Sahm's breakfast/lunch spot right next to Big Lug (huge fan of that too). It's a nice, quaint place with TVs and they also have a private room for events! My go to order is biscuits & gravy with two over easy eggs and a side of bacon. You can't go wrong! Their corned beef hash is also amazing, and the dry rub chicken tenders are highly recommended. Comes with fries and if you're a ranch fan...you'll be pleased. They don't take reservations, but it's definitely worth the wait (typically not long, or try getting a seat at the bar top). The Roost also has one of the best espresso martinis I've ever had--brown sugar was the secret ingredient. So good! If you're in the Nora area, check this place out! What a fun & casual breakfast spot! Our waitress was so kind & attentive. We ordered fancy coffees off of their latte menu - i got an iced Bee Sting & my friend got an iced mocha mint. The bee sting had an unexpected kick - which I later learned was from scorpion pepper hot honey. The online menu called the honey "spiced" so I was thinking warm spices (i.e. cinnamon/clove/nutmeg) while the in person menu did not distinguish that. I think had the menu said "hot honey" I would've known to expect a kick to the beverage. My huevos rancheros were delicious & I had the hash brown casserole on the side. I also learned the cornbread casserole gives sweet bread pudding vibes. My friend got one of the platters that came with a pancake & eggs & meat - so a great option for those who want both sweet and savory. Once again the travel club ladies' monthly luncheon (brunch) took me someplace I've never been. I've frequented The Roost on 116th & Allisonville for years. I didn't know about this location off the Monon Trail. The food is good. It's hard too screw up breakfast in my opinion unless the coffee is bad. I'd love to see The Roost bring back their quiche. This is such a great breakfast spot in Nora located conveniently off the Monon Trail. They have indoor and outdoor seating, and we chose to sit outside since it was such a beautiful day. They have shade covers on the patio too. The Roost has a large menu for breakfast and lunch. I love how they have so many food and drink specials. They have tons of specialty coffees and lattes. I ordered the coffee cake latte which came with a little piece of their coffee cake. For breakfast, I ordered one of their specials which was a bagel sandwich, and I selected bacon for the protein and a side of their cheesy hash brown casserole. Everything was delicious!!! I will definitely be back, and they are apart of the Sahm's group so if you frequent their restaurants definitely sign up for rewards. The host and servers were terrific. Despite the good service, the food did not live up to the reviews that we read. We had the cinnamon rolls and appetizer and split it, but we could barely even eat more than one bite each. It was very hard and tasteless. We then ordered the weekender and my daughter ordered over easy eggs and I ordered scrambled. She enjoyed her over easy eggs, but my scrambled eggs were not fluffy and tasty. They were flat and not a single bit of seasoning on them. also we both ordered the biscuit and sausage gravy. The biscuit must've been made with the same dough as the cinnamon roll because it was also hard and not very flavorful. The gravy was odd, and it was made was probably a sausage patty, which was very grainy, for want of a better word. The redeeming part of the breakfast meal was the hash brown casserole was delicious. I love iced tea, so I ordered some, but it was very cloudy and tasted like it was the bottom of the pot. We also were served water glasses that were clearly dirty, and the water looked carbonated. We did not partake of these. We asked a few questions of our waiter, who was awesome But ultimately we believe that, even though it's a beautiful restaurant, and has a wonderful barrel room that you can rent out, we don't believe we will be back to give it another try. read more

TL;DR: Tried the breakfast burrito and was seriously let down by the flavor. 50/50 on if I'd go here again, but I'll definitely try something else if I do. Food: I got the breakfast burrito and it was thoroughly unimpressive. The egg/sausage mix was cooked into more of an omelette that was just rolled up in a tortilla which resulted in a more dense consistency than if the egg had been scrambled. The bigger issue though was that the egg/sausage mix had no real flavor to it all. The salsa roja was a bit watery and lacked spice, though they did have hot sauce available. Hash browns were undercooked with no crispiness and were almost entirely white. Ultimately they gave me exactly what I ordered, but I wouldn't order this again. My partner got a special, the Oaxacan skillet, which was quite nicely seasoned. After trying some it was clearly the better of the dishes we got. Service: Service was fine. The check took a long time to arrive after we had finished/our table was cleared and we had to ask the waitress for our receipt after a couple minutes as it seems she forgot that we had asked for one. Atmosphere: A bit dimly lit for breakfast. Definitely feels like the decor is more suited for an afternoon/evening meal. read more

Visited The Roost for their Easter Sunday Buffet. The Buffet was from $29.99 for adults and was from 10am to 3pm. Having looked at other Easter Buffets in the area, we felt $29.99 was a very good price for what was included. The breakfast type items the buffet included were such things as egg casserole, bacon, sausage, biscuits & gravy, pancakes, waffles, french toast, and hasbrowns. The lunch type items it included such things as salad, peel and eat shrimp, salmon, ham, chicken marsala, meatloaf, shrimp alfredo, fried chicken, steamed veggies, roasted potatoes, and stuffed beef tenderloin. They also had a bread and dessert bar. Your drink (other than water) was not included. We arrived at 1pm and they were very busy. If you visit another of their Buffet Specials (e.g. if they have one for Mother's Day, etc.), we recommend making a reservation. When we finished dining at around 2pm (one hour before they shut down), the food trays were all still full and hot. Our server was great, she was very busy but kept checking in with us. We were impressed at how well they monitored the food trays and kept them replenished. The biscuits & gravy was excellent! We've had a lot of biscuits & gravy at restaurants and this ranked in the top 3. My wife loved the peel & eat shrimp, the cocktail sauce had a nice kick.... not too hot but not just plan ketchup. The fried chicken, shrimp alfredo and steamed vegetables were also good. I tried all the lunch items on the buffet but the meatloaf. I tried most of the breakfast items with the exception of the pancakes, waffles, and french toast. Some items were good and some were ok. The two items I did not care for were the chicken marsala and hashbrowns. But, they did an excellent job of serving a wide variety of items that were hot and well stocked. We were surprised they did not serve mashed potatoes.... my wife's favorite. However, she really enjoyed the other offerings. We would go to The Roost again for another of their Buffets. read more

Went to The Roost for brunch on a Friday. I was super excited about the bottomless mimosas they advertised. Got there only to find out, wasn't really bottomless. It was $18 charge per bottle of champagne, that was disappointing. Anyway, the menu was jam packed, and had a lot of options that made it hard to decide. I went with the nap time sandwich, it was OK. I felt like it was missing some type of sauce or flavoring to complement the spinach. Our service was great and they looked to have a full bar. Overall I give The Roost four stars.
