Do NOT use this company. This company is dishonest! This company was sent to me by my home warranty company, American Home Shield. This was the 2nd Air Conditioning company AHS sent to my home due to problems with my AC. The first AC company said it was an electrical problem and sent an electrician, who did change the breakers, but said it is definitely an AC problem, as all the electricity is working correctly. As the first AC company that AHS sent to my home was the worst and most rude technician I have had in my home in 30 years and I had registerred a complaint, they could not send the same company back when the electrician told AHS it was an AC issue. The electrician wrote, "The AC unit is showing signs of much failure as it comes on and off and runs for 10 min., shuts off. Different tech is needed." AHS sent Starlight HVAC. The tech from Starlight HVAC came and told me that my compressor was not working well due to age. At the same time, he told me that I needed a new fuse box and a conduit. However, when he gave me his report, the report that was sent to my home warranty company, he wrote, "....There is no fuse box, not up to code. It has to be instralled. There is no conduit for low voltage line and locking cups." He also wrote, "To replace the system through AHS upgrade program $6,565.00." He told me this was a deal, because it normally costs $10,000. This was the 2nd AC company in my home through AHS and the 2nd one who tried to get me to spend money. Not only that, the tech would use a Goodman unit, which I've read are costly to maintain. I had a fuse and I knew there was no problem with it, as I had just had an electrician to my home and if it were not "up to code", then my home would never have passed inspection and the electrician would have said so. I knew he was not telling the truth. Of course, I then received an email from AHS saying they would not cover these costs. I called AHS and went in circles with the customer service person who kept telling me the AC tech was professional and if I disagreed, I could get a second opinion by an AC company they would choose. However, if that AC company agreed with Starlight, I would have to pay the $100 fee for the service call. I asked to speak with a Supervisor, which never happened. By that point, I realized that the AC company and AHS were obviously in cahoots with each other. I didn't trust either of them, so I looked up reviews for Starlight HVAC and other AC companies. I chose a company that had a 5 star rating and only excellent reviews and was recommended by a friend who had just used them. The owner came to my home and for $7,000, I got a Carrier system, a new furnace, and a new digital thermostat. Not only that, I had him look at my unit, and he said that the "old unit compressor grounded out must replace AC." He said my fuse was definitely up to code. It just clarified even more that Starlight HVAC and AHS are working together to keep money in their pockets or make extra money off of their customers rather than conducting honest business. Don't use this company or AHS for that matter. They are both dishonest. read more
