Well.. where to start with my disappointment.. I specifically went to this location after multiple people in my life asked for support for them. Retired military, local, pro Trump, pro America, ... I'm that girl... I'm in! I traveled a considerable distance to patron this place. My husband has a sever medical condition which he can not wear a mask. Not ever been an issue. In fact we have antibodies against COVID. The patio was FULL and not a single person had on a mask. We checked. We enter the door to make an order before finding a seat outside. TWO steps in the man behind the counter in the most aggressive tone I've heard in awhile barks you need a mask. I state my husband has a medical condition and can't wear one he YELLS that he doesn't care he won't serve us without one. I try to ask if I can just make our order and my husband can go outside but he cuts me off shouting how I need to leave immediately. Well... I'm now going back to ALL my groups and friends that shared asking for his support telling them of this... I'll never go back and I hope the governor does shut you down rudeness is never acceptable. You don't deserve to be in business or have people support you. There are WAY better breweries with WAY better staff. Shame on you. Plus your food smells awful and the prices were ridiculous. I love this place! The food and beer are awesome! They have a wide variety of beer, wine and ciders. Their house beers are wonderful. I have had most of their menu and haven't had a bad thing yet! They have indoor and outdoor seating. I prefer outdoor but it's always easy to find a place to sit for a cold beer and hot meal. I'd recommend their burger! It's so tasty. Their staff is really friendly and knowledgeable on their beers which is nice. They always make you feel welcome. Great local spot! read more

Since I don't indulge in the beers I always check out the food at Breweries and had given up but....... Starr Brother's shines with appetizing fresh food. My only one complaint on particular dish was the fish & chips .......the dish warrants more fish! The decor is swanky, modern & hip by far the most attention to detail in the Q for a Brewery. In the heat of fierce microbrewery competition in ABQ, Starr Brothers lands in the middle of the pack. The beer is average but not great. The food is on-par with your average bar/grill. The space looks like your run-of-the-mill industrial-ish interior with a few TVs. As many others have pointed out, the acoustics are horrendous and lead to shouting at your friend sitting next to you, which only worsens the noise level for everyone else. Translation: Don't come here for an intimate date. It's not the best microbrewery in town, but it's not offensive either. Worth a visit to decide for yourself. read more

Three and a half Starrs overall (had to). Visit this brewery for the food more than the beer. The plates are a little more pricey than other breweries but you get what you pay for. I was quite happy with my Cubano. The pork was thick cut and everything came together, delivering a good flavor combination. Got the stout for my beer. Not a ton of flavor. It wasn't bad. We dined here for lunch and we were incredibly satisfied! We started with the Poutine Burqueno and it was amazing! It's basically a combo of disco/chile cheese fries! The fries were perfectly crispy and ultra tasty and the chile was pretty good as well! We also started with the cheese platter and it was so much better than I expected. It was a little pricey, but really good! We were given three different cheeses and a really yummy raspberry lavender jelly paired with a crunchy bread to spread the cheese/jelly on. this is honestly you have to taste!! For our entrees we ordered the Cubano and the Chicken Club. My mom said the Cubano was really good, and I loved the Chicken Club! The peppered bacon on the club was killer! We both had the entrees paired with a side salad and that was really yummy as well! For dessert we had the Creme Brûlée and the Draft Banana Bread pudding! The Brûlée was so freakin awesome! It was seriously some of the best I have ever had in my life! I would seriously go there just to eat that! The banana bread draft pudding was okay. Starr Brothers makes good beer. They also have some of the best grub for a brewery in Albuquerque. It's this perfect combination that keeps me coming back. (Although being walking distance from my place certainly doesn't hurt.) Get the Poutine Burqueno, but try it with pork belly on top. You'll be glad you did. The goat cheese and beet salad is also very good. The traditional buffalo wings are some of the better wings in Albuquerque, but their other dry-rub flavors are kind of flavorless. Beer-wise, I'm continually impressed by their selection - usually a healthy variety of lighter beers (including a very decent German Pils), experimental wheats, and then your hoppy and dark beers. Good stuff. Sometimes the wait staff is a little bit inattentive, but that's the only downside I can think of at this moment. read more

My first time at this brewery was really great! What do I mean when I say "great"? Although others have had problems with service, I was greeted after only a few minutes of waiting and immediately given the beer menu and brought food menus. That's when it gets really good! I tried the Oatmeal Stout which was amazing. I'm not one for medium or light beers so I didn't try anything else. I did have a sip of my friend's beer, also a stout and I liked it as well but was really pleased with my stout. The menu is amazing. They have some really great appetizers and their entree selection is impressive (patty melts, tacos, scallops, ribs, steak, chicken, salads and that's just to name a few). One of the things I really liked about this place is the varying prices of things on the menu. If you are on a budget you can have some fun here and if you want to splurge, you can do that too. My friend had the patty melt and it must have been delicious because it was all gone when we left. She also ordered the truffled chips with bleu cheese which were incredible (and enough to share for two people). I had the pork belly mac and cheese and I was NOT disappointed. It was very creamy and the pork belly was cooked nicely - not too tough. It comes with a side salad (as does the patty melt) and I commented to my friend that it was a very tasty salad - more than most and she agreed. What's inside? A very spacious location with tall tables and stools (the stools are a little uncomfortable because they are really hard with no cushions) but they also have regular tables including some larger tables if you want to go with a group. The space is huge with tall ceilings and window walls - which makes it seem even bigger than it is. It was also very clean. There wasn't anything on the floors and I didn't see any dirty tables. The waitress cleared our plates away and encouraged us to hang out even after we had finished our beers and food. This was a wonderful place to meet and old friend and talk and eat some really great food and drink some delicious beer. I would also be great for a date or even a casual dinner out. I imagine lunch would be equally enjoyable. I highly recommend giving this place a try. I will definitely be going back soon. read more

SBBC is a busy joint Friday evenings but our waitress was cool and easygoing she made us feel right at home. There's a lot of room to move about with different seating options available, if you're lucky you can sore a fantastic view of the Sandia's. I was pleasantly surprised how delicious our meals were; Fresh and carefully prepared, you can tell the kitchen takes pride in what they serve, everything that came out of the cook's room looked great. I enjoyed sipping my flight of craft brew. I don't care much for IPA's but the Starstruck was surprisingly refreshing and easy to palate. It complemented my A La Carte steak and pork tacos perfectly and would recommend. The L.A. Woman was also a definite thumbs up. Room for improvement: 1) The porter...to smoky for my taste 2) Instead of drizzled mayo on the chicken taco, maybe a cilantro-lime sauce, the mayo over powered the rest of the flavors.3) Great space to display local art CHEERS to a Great Local establishment and I will return :) read more

Idk what I expected but I was pleasantly surprised when I got here! The decor is really cute and almost rustic- I love the lighting, all the windows and tv screen menus. Speaking of menus, they have a big selection! I got the steak burrito and it was really good!!! The red child is HOT- but tasty. My mom ordered the tempura, but it was only onion and peppers, so we sent it back and they replaced it with a caprese salad with no hesitation. We drank the porter and chinookie, which were really good, solid beers. I tried the dry stout and oatmeal stout as well, but wasn't the biggest fan. My only wish is that they had more of a variety of beer, instead of just really dark and IPA's. Maybe it's the season? I'll have to go back and check back in... For being a Tuesday night, it was pretty busy, but we got excellent service from Kierah, who was pretty much running the whole place by herself! This is a review of the food and service to be had at Starr Brothers. Sadly, both of my visits to this establishment were at lunch, so the beer will have to be sampled during a future visit. Both times, my friends and I were greeted promptly, and drinks and orders were taken as soon as we were ready. And during both visits, I observed employees cleaning windows, prepping tables and educating other diners about the brewery and the food. Everyone seems very engaged, proud of the brewery, and interested in feedback and questions. So onto the food. The first time I had the tasty Cuban sandwich with a really fresh side salad. It was good enough for a return visit. And today, I had the tortellini pasta with olives, feta, spinach and lemon sauce. Oh. My. Goodness. It was divine. Rich and tangy, filled with goodness and belly-filling flavor. So good. So unique. That might be the dish I come back for, again and again. My friends got the chicken sandwich, which looked OK. But honestly, the tortellini was heaven on a plate. Next time, I swear I'm saving room for the bread pudding and the Nutella crepe. Based on the food I've had so far, I'm sure they will be divine. We tried this place while staying in up the road. We love small hometown breweries so we were excited to try this place out. The space is very open, but parking was pretty limited. We sat down and a server came over fairly quickly. The beers were unimpressive. They tasted like a basic beer that you can get from a bottle. Nothing special. My wife had the pork belly mac n cheese, but she literally got about 5 pieces of pork belly on top of her mac n cheese. She was expecting a more pork belly since it was "Pork Belly Mac N Cheese" . I had the Cuban and it was good. Overall, it was ok, but nothing special. It was like Applebees with plain craft beers. Service was good. read more

Since we moved to Albuquerque in 2020, we have had many disappointing dining experiences. Wow, was this the opposite. Thank you to the cooks and waitstaff for making this a memorable experience. Reagan P, our server, was prompt, courteous, and attentive throughout our visit. We enjoyed the pretzel, the pork belly mac&cheese, the Cubano, and the tacos thoroughly. Not only do these guys serve high quality beer and cider made right on the premises, as well as great food, but they are also home to my favorite football club supporters, shoutout to the 505 Reds, YNWA. PROS: I love craft beer, and I also very much dig the fact that they only serve what they make. You won't find any Budweiser or Miller here. They have a wide variety too. I really can't stand it when I go in to a craft brew house and 80% of the selection is IPA's, which I detest. Starr has a great selection of beer and cider, and there is something for everyone. Definitely check out Taco Tuesday for $2 tacos, and the rest of their menu is very good too. I like a place where I can get good old fashioned bar food like wings and nachos, along side eclectic and delicious items like shrimp and grits and Cubano sandwiches and truffle fries. And the prices are really great too. CONS: If you have the hankering for a mass produced beer, or a local beer not made by Starr, then you won't find it there, so if you are not in that kind of mood, then I suggest somewhere else. This is our second time here and it was awesome. I had the fish tacos on corn tortillas and my hubby had the steak nachos. The tacos were so tasty and very filling. 3 little tortillas that didn't tear when you pick it up. The black beans were just ok along with the rice. The nachos were phenomenal. Lots of steak along with nachos cheese sauce. Very tender meat. Comes with guacamole sour cream black beans all the fixins. Hubby likes his Thunder IPA. The server was Eli and he was great. Surprising and welcome location. Went a couple months back before their first batch of brew was ready. Love the bright and open atmosphere with family-style seating. It does have potential! Let's talk about the seating---unlike other places that have a host(ess) that will find you a seat, this place has patrons stand and wait to find their seating (first come, first serve). Awkward. There should be more options for couples. Beer: Their brews are very hoppy and strong. There is a total of about 8 beers on the menu. There is only one cider offered, and it was not good. Thankfully, they offered a white sangria that saved the day. More ciders need to be offered. Food: Great! I absolutely LOVED the midnight hashbrowns! Don't waste your time. we ate here on October 1st during Balloon Fiesta. The beer may be good (although I don't really know because I did not drink), but the food definitely was not. The menu is extremely limited and everything we ordered was poorly prepared and tasted like it was microwaved. And I'm sorry to say, the service was equally lacking. After enjoying a very fine rendition of a west coast IPA, I asked the brew tender how long they'd been at it. When she replied "4 months," I was shocked. Starr Bro's is doing things well and feels more like a place that's been successful for a while. The brews I had were all very respectable class offerings. And, they have a food menu that's equal to the task of the brews. Decor is urban fresh, fun, and comfortable. Real good outdoor seating as well. A friend of mine got me to agree to leave my safe zone for going out (north valley, downtown, nob hill...) to get some beers, food and to watch game 3 of the NBA Finals. She said it was a place with a view, decent beer, and a good chef from the Bay Area. I don't usually go to the heights of my own accord but she was driving, I was drinking, so I was game, and the game was on! When we rolled up to Starr Brothers it was storming outside and the view of Elena Gallegos and the West Mesa was stunning as it sits atop a hill. The inside of this place is spacious with tall ceilings a variety of seating options and that oh so pleasant anthropologieesque decor with low wattage chandeliers and all. We sat at a beautiful tall wooden table which in retrospect is probably the community/shared seating (a few of these tables) but you can also sit at the bar or at the regular dining tables. I sampled all of the IPAs and we both ended up getting pints of the Starr Struck IPA. The beer wasn't at the Marble, Boxing Bear, Bosque, La Cumbre level but it wasn't bad. It was hoppy, flavorful, and it didn't have that unintentional taste many places do where the quality of the beer is an after thought. I also ordered their award winning green chile cheese burger with fries and my friend got some less than satisfactory pasta. What I'm reviewing here is the vibe though I guess. I doubt you'll find many places this warm and pleasant in the heights and I'm willing to bet they have a lot if regulars as a result. I didn't feel rushed to order because I was enjoying the ambiance and the vibe of the place. I forgot to mention that they have awesome floor to ceiling windows so the lighting at sunset here is great, although the tool for opening the blinds was broken, FAIL! JK I'll come back for sure. My burger was actually delicious and I shouldn't downplay it's quality. I thoroughly enjoyed the beer and the food. The waiter was a bit slow and forgetful but he comped us a beer so I didn't care. Ok get to the food already! I ordered the burger medium and it came out perfect; on a brioche bun with bacon, green chile, green chile ranch aoli, and oh yeah it's Japanese Akaushi beef?! So mouth wateringly delicious and the fries were battered and fried yummy. My friend got the chicken and mushroom pasta sans chicken and she said it must've relied on the chicken because it was bland. I also hear the Cubano sandwich is good which I'll try next time. I came here to do my fantasy hockey draft so we sat at a table in the back. We were served almost instantly upon sitting down which was nice, but it really went downhill from there. It got to the point where we were waving our hands, hats, or whatever else could raise a commotion to get service. The beer is delicious and we ordered their award-winning poutine which was pretty freakin' good. The place itself is a little loud and does lack some charm that other breweries in town have, but what Starr Brothers does have is some dang good food, massive TV's, and a nice clean environment to enjoy an afternoon beer. Burger wasn't cooked medium rare but rather WELL done. My partner was served sliced cucumbers that were frozen solid. We got ranch not blue cheese. Dessert was underwhelming. High lights. The burger was tasty in spite if dried out burger. The beer was tasty I had the blonde. It's pretty much a sports bar with airs of being up scale. It is no where near up scale. I hate to slam a local brew pub. But, if I'm being honest. Skip the Starr Bros. Or don't eat. Oh and sit at the bar so they know you're there. No, just don't go. read more

I always pass this place driving home from work, so on Friday night I came for Happy hour. I ordered a cider and some Hush Puppies. I really enjoyed the cider but the hush puppies were really chewy and hard to eat. My friend ordered the Poutine Burqueno and those were really tasty.
