I hesitated to write this review after reading so many similar experiences, but I feel my feedback is valid. I've been a customer here for quite some time, and after reading reviews about inconsistent haircuts, canceled appointments, and rude service, I realized I wasn't the only one experiencing these issues. The first time I came here, I got my haircut from the main lady who runs the shop. After the haircut, she asked if everything looked okay. I politely pointed out a few uneven areas that I noticed, but she didn't seem happy that I mentioned them. That left me wondering what the point is of asking customers if everything looks okay if they're made to feel uncomfortable for giving honest feedback. After that experience, I decided to switch to another barber. I've been going to the other lady for quite some time, hoping I had found someone I could stick with long-term. Unfortunately, the results have been hit or miss. There were numerous occasions when I got home and had to fix my haircut myself. Even so, I never complained. I paid the full price every time because I believed in paying the value of the service and hoped the next visit would be better. I also found myself asking: Is paying $30 for a haircut, plus a $10 tip, considered fair these days? I looked into it because I wanted to make sure my expectations were reasonable. From what I found, those prices are within the normal range for a quality haircut, which makes it even more disappointing when the results don't match the price. I remember when getting a clean, straight fade wasn't something that felt difficult to find. It makes me wonder why this shop has such a high rating. Are those mostly longtime regulars? Do they receive a different level of service? I honestly don't know. I really wanted this place to be my go-to barbershop, which is why I gave it so many chances. Looking through the reviews and realizing I wasn't the only person having these experiences finally convinced me it was time to say something. Unfortunately, the inconsistent haircuts continued. At this point, I guess they can afford to lose another customer. Two years as a customer and today was the breaking point. Starscut is a solid barbershop and I've genuinely enjoyed my experience here for the most part -- good cuts and I kept coming back for a reason. But being managed by someone who can't respect her own customers' time is a real problem. Vivian, who runs the place, has delayed my appointments a handful of times without any heads-up. I let it go each time out of loyalty. Today she took it a step further and completely missed my appointment -- no call, no text, no explanation. I waited 15 minutes and left. When the manager herself is the one ghosting customers, there's no one to escalate to and no accountability. That's a structural problem. Two years of business and this is how it ends. The shop has potential, but until there's basic reliability and professionalism at the top, I can't recommend it. read more

I have been going here for roughly 1.5 years and have never had an issue. I understand why it's rated highly. Today my barber was a male with a buzzcut and they didn't follow the picture i showed for the haircut and proceeded to badly cut my neck after trying to shave it without cream and with a blade. It is still stinging 30 minutes later and i feel bad for even paying the $30. I would highly recommend anyone going here to avoid this specific barber at all costs and I hope they are not employed here much longer. I was looking for a new place to get my son's haircut, and we decided to walk in and give this spot a try. From the moment we stepped in, Tina was incredibly sweet and welcoming. She gently scooped up my little guy, helped him into the barber chair, and made him feel completely at ease. She was so kind and patient--especially when working around those tiny, tricky areas near his ears and the back of his neck. It meant so much to see someone care not just about the cut, but about the experience, too. Thankfully, my son did so well sitting still and listening, and Tina truly brought out the best in him. Great haircuts by several of the staff there - both Vivian and Andy are very good at what they do.

I got a haircut from Tina who was great! She pays attention to detail and was really thorough throughout the cut, down to all of the styling she did at the end. Vivian takes her time with the bald fade (zero fade). She is very nice and open to correction / adjustments during my session. She does a great job with comb over (what I typically get, as shown in pictures attached). She is efficient, 30min for a bald fade comb over haircut, which I find is a reasonable time from all the barbers I have been to. She is on time with her appointment. I don't usually write reviews, but man this was embarrassingly bad considering how highly rated this spot is. Booked an appointment for 10 AM for a simple cut (2 block) with Vivian and she arrived 15 mins late. My perm is on its way out (slightly wavy still but straight hair growing out) and I was hoping to find a spot that had experience cleaning up the sides. The photos for the shop show dudes who got their perm here, so I assumed they would have experience cutting hair before the re-perm. I was absolutely wrong. Vivian left one side of my head looking like an ice berg and the other side mid length with no attempt at blending. I'd rather wait for my usual salon to have a slot instead of coming back to this spot. read more

There are few things I'm as picky about as haircuts. Probably doctor, food, and music in that order. So thankful for the quick and seemless work of those at StarsCut. Just got my cut from Tony. Glad he's back in Milpitas. He has a new schedule here: Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The other days, he's at Frontmen's Barbershop in Redwood City but they charge more. So be sure to book Tuesdays and Wednesdays otherwise they have other friendly barbers here. On the booking website Vagaro, it might state the incorrect price. Got to my appointment with Vivian 15 minutes early but ended up waiting over 10-15 minutes from the appointment time before she finished up her current client. She did a very diligent/careful job on that client, which made sense afterwards since I saw her taking pictures of his finished cut as it seemed like they'd post this somewhere and that he'd give a good rating. However, I got a rushed and very poor quality cut when I was worked on. I've been here several times more so due to convenience and affordability but will find a different barber going forward after this last bad experience. I began going here about 3 months ago when I needed a more local cut to my office for time efficiency. Also, my previous barber moved up to a new shop that had a higher premium of $40 a cut. After some searching, I gave this place a shot. Vivian was my initial barber and is actually the main barber/manager. She does a great haircut! Pretty much matches my last barber in quality for less!
