I made an appointment. I had long hair which was down to my waist. I showed Hannah a picture of the hair cut I wanted. Medium to long layers, keeping the length. Hannah cut six inches of my hair off. I was very disappointed and upset. It took me 2 years to grow my hair that long. I will never come back to Modern Image in Milpitas to get a haircut. Great place I have been using since moving to Milpitas. I found them during the pandemic and they had all the necessary precautions at the time to ensure everyone's safety. They are both very friendly and I started taking my son once he turned 2 and it was one of the only places where they were able to work with him being quite energetic. I needed to look for a barber shop that was nearby my house and can do my hairstyle! I checked on Yelp and this place was open recently and had great reviews. I checked on the pics that was posted and one person had the same hair style as mine which looked good. I made an appointment with Tony which I saw great reviews about him. The place is located next to Naan n Masala which is a pretty good Indian restaurant and I suggest everyone to try their Butter Chicken. My appointment was at 5:30pm on a Wednesday so parking was easy. The place was very clean and had a great vibe. There was another person waited before me, so Tony apologized since he was behind schedule. I waited for 25 mins, but I was patient since it might be worth the wait. Finally it was my turn so Tony asked what I like. I explained to him how I want my hair to style and he understood right away. He took his time and made sure everything looked good. Even though people are waiting, Tony does not rush. He even clean your neckline with shaving cream and a razor. When he was done, my hair looked fantastic and I was so happy. I gave him a good tip and decided this will be the main barber shop from now on. read more

Tony was very rude. I made an appointment at 5:30 pm. After waiting for 15 mins, I asked the staffs there how long I needed to wait. They said 3 MINUTES. After another 15 mins (6pm), I confirmed that my appointment was at 5:30 and I would need to run for a meeting soon, "how much longer do I need to wait" ? (if it's too long, I might need to reschedule to another time). Tony-replied in a very rude voice: "If you can't wait, just go. We are trying to help everyone to get a haircut here but if you don't appreciate it and you can't wait, go". Wowww...that attitude. Is he kidding ? Help ? First off, we paid to get a haircut. He didn't do it for free. Second, he said he was fully booked for a whole day. A lot of customers just walked in and he took everyone of them. Room was full of people and he even allowed people who did not wear a mask to come inside. No social distance at all. Tony was very personable and easy to talk to. As this was my first haircut since the quarantine started, I was a bit nervous. That went away instantly due to Tony's friendly demeanor. All of the usual precautions were in place: masks at all times, temperature was taken, gloves, contact less payment, and social distancing when possible. Entertainment within the store was great: the game was on one TV, while music videos played on another. Being able to schedule appointments online is a great luxury, and it's available here too! Pricing was very generous too: a lot of barbers out there really overprice their cuts these days, and the customer service element is very hit or miss at a lot of places - but not here. Tony's attention to detail was great, and really was just there to help me get the cut I wanted. The cut was quick, but there was never a drop in quality. I was a bit unsure myself since I just knew I wanted it a bit short since my hair was so long (I usually get a comb over these days - but I've gotten taper fades, line ups, bald fades, faux hawks, pompadours, etc.). With little direction from me, Tony was able to just produce great results for my look. He even offered advice for which hair products to use. I find that one of the true signs of a fantastic barber, is if they're willing to touch up the cut at the end with a lot of patience (I've been to places where barbers are almost insulted when you ask for small changes at the very end); Tony was very patient till the very end, I never felt any unease. I'll definitely be coming back since I am 100% satisfied. I've been to barbers all over the bay, and even in the Sacramento region. Tony's skill, attitude/communication, the store's presentation (well lit and ventilated), and the store's COVID-19 precautions have locked in this spot as one of the best ones. I really don't want to bad mouth this business because they seem like honest and hardworking people but this is the worst haircut experience that I've ever had. My hair looks absolutely terrible. The lady who cut my hair didn't speak very good English so she didn't heed to most of my instructions and now my head looks like a freaking pineapple. I mentioned politely many times that she was cutting it too short and I wanted something different but she repeatedly said "this is a high fade" determined to cut it the way she wanted to. Seemed like she had a formula for what an Asian dude with hair should look like and stuck with it regardless of what I said. In the end, I stated that I was unhappy with my haircut and the lady refused to take any responsibility. Overall, I'd avoid this place if you have specific instructions on how you want your hair cut because the lady most likely won't understand what you're saying and doesn't have the patience to clarify. read more

I ended up showing about 8 minutes late for my appointment but Tony was still all smiles and made sure to check with me about the kind of haircut I wanted and then kept checking in with me as he began to work on the sides and then the top (clippers, scissors and straight-edge). This review is for men's haircuts. They offer more services likes includes nails, facials, etc, but I haven't used them so I can't comment. I've been coming here for the last few years to get my haircuts from Tony and I've never been disappointed. Some key highlights, he is very detail oriented and will do his best to make sure the cut is very clean and neat. Men's haircuts are $15. If he has time, Tony will use a razor to make sure the lines around your neck, side burns, and ears are clean shaven. Afterwards he will wipe all the areas with a nice hot towel, which feels awesome. However, if he has a lot of people waiting for him, he may not have time to do it. I trusted him with my haircut and my officiant's haircut prior to my wedding as well, and we both looked great! I will continue to come cut my hair monthly for as long as he is here. Just a warning, he is very popular for men's haircuts. I highly recommend making an appointment. If you don't and walk in expecting to get a haircut specifically with him, expect to wait maybe 30 minutes or more during peak times. I came here last month but never got a haircut. There were only 3 workers inside, all occupied. They refused to give me an estimated time of waiting. I had 1 person come into the store after me, cut me in line (assuming he was a regular), and his barber just pointed to his colleague saying "you're next buddy". From an initial standpoint, this place offers terrible service, is understaffed, and they cannot speak English nor communicate properly. The barber who was suppose to serve me was shaving this guy's head for an hour. How can you shave a bald head for an hour? They absolutely ignored me. I waited for that 1 hour exactly before walking across to Cali's salon. They had a roomful of people and I waited maybe half a minute before they sat me down and gave me a haircut. read more

I called in asking about how much it would be to get my underarms waxed. A lady answered saying that it'd be $45. That. Is. Ridiculous. I couldn't believe it and asked for clarification twice. On one of the times she seems to ask another person if that was the right price for underarm waxing. She confirmed. $45. No amount of froufrou could make an underarm wax $45. So I think that this was either major miscommunication (despite my asking for clarification, so I don't think this is it?), or they need to really rethink their pricing. read more

I want to leave a good review, I really do but I was not impressed by my haircut by Hana. Based on the reviews I saw here on yelp, I decided to give this place a try. I made a same day appointment and when I arrived I was immediately seen and Hana washed my hair. It was nice relaxing and the shampoo and conditioner smelled really good. After that I showed her a picture of how I wanted my hair and she cut it way too short with a really choppy layers. :( and the haircut was quite pricey too it was $40 plus tip.
