The best liquor store in Los Angeles. Well-maintained. Friendly and knowledgeable cashiers. Some rare bottles available now and then (most recently, I spotted a Weller 107 behind the counter). And they have a variety of Lucky Strikes, which I've discovered is a difficult cigarette to locate all over the city. The pièce de résistance (and the reason I've deemed them "the best")? They sell individual cocktail bags, a little grabby of mixers and minis, sometimes with fun accoutrements like edible glitter, rock candy, or an actual drinking vessel that you can keep forever (I've seen a moscow mule mug and a tiny cantarito). They're priced from $9 to around $20, and the store gives you one straw and one cup of ice per bag. There's unmetered street parking in front, and a Raising Cane's next door if you want to pick up a cocktail bag from Starz and some Cane's chicken tendies and have a day! read more

I had been seeing this place all over the internet and decided to try them when I came to visit! It is a nice liquor store, they have a ton of baggies to choose from. I loved this sour watermelon one, 10/10. You also get a cup of ice with your baggie purchase. I bought 5 baggies for a total of $65, which I don't think is too bad given the price of one drink in the area. The workers were nice. read more

I've been in a few times to grab a drink and some lotto tickets. Today was the last time. The owner of this store is possibly the rudest person I've ever seen. While he has never been friendly in the past today he was obnoxiously unpleasant. And worse as I was getting in my car I saw him screaming at some lady for parking on the street in front of the store. You lost a customer for good today. read more

Cocktail mixing bags come with so many options, ranging from $12-$20 to the barrels being $20-$100. Drink bags are strong and very creative! Besides the pre-assembled cocktail kits they have everything you need: drinks, chasers and even fun little things like edible glitter to make your drink a little more exciting. Any time we go in before a get together to grab something the owners are extremely welcoming and kind. You even get a cup of ice/bag with any bag or barrel purchase. I went into this liquor store just looking to buy beer but they had pre-made cocktails in baggies for like $11, never seen anything like it before, came with a free cup of ice and straw too. Tiny selection of spirits which are wildly overpriced. Husband wanted a 1.5L bottle of Maker's Mark so I stopped in. They only had the 750mL and it was $60. I was sure that was a mistake so I asked the guy behind the counter. He confirmed that was the price. What? In what universe? I ended up across the street at CVS where the same bottle was less than $30, and the bottle which is double that size was still $13 less. Literally, $47 for double the size of their $60 bottle. I'm willing to pay a premium to support a local mom and pop, but that's not a premium. That's insanity. They need to re-think their markups. As of September a new owner took over the place and made some great changes. it has turned into a very prestigious liquor store that loves taking care of each and every customer. Wow. Not sure how people think the selection of spirits here is good. I went in today to check it out and hopefully pick up some rum for drinks tonight. THe back shelves behind the counter were half empty. The only things up there were high end whiskey and tequila. The guy that came out to help me was very nice and asked if he could help. I said I was in the market for some rum. He looked over the shelves for a minute before responding, "Sorry, we don't have any". Seriously. A liquor store that doesn't carry rum. At all. Not even a bottle of Bacardi. I ended up going across the street to the CVS Pharmacy where they had about 10 times the selection. They did have a few decent bottles though. I noticed a Whistle Pig 111 that had a fair price tag. However, there wasn't many and 99% of the time I'm not looking to spend over $100 a bottle. Making this place pretty much useless as a liquor store. That said, they did have a great selection of craft beers in the fridges. I love going into Starz Liquor for all the products but especially for the service. Ed and his staff always go above and beyond for me.
