With bare hands. I have been here at least 12x times and I am shocked. It is almost like a blessing in disguise... Before I can even explain that I have a disabled son. I tried to say that I would move my car forward and he just said no move your car right now !!!! No good morning, just yelled at me. I think they should not be touching donuts without gloves and also yelling at customers. This is just my review and I would recommend giving your business to someone else.

We ordered the BBQ Pork Buns, Minced Pork Dumplings, and Sui Mai. We took everything home and steamed it ourselves. I also picked up a Napoleon pastry from the bakery case. The BBQ Pork Bun was good with nice flavor. I would order it again, especially since I don't know of many other places in Reno where I can get one of my favorite dim sum items. The Minced Pork Dumplings, however, were not for us. I believe the flavor of the Chinese leek may have been what turned us off. As for the Napoleon, it wasn't very sweet or particularly flavorful, and it made quite a mess to eat. Not something I'd reorder. The Sui Mai was delicious, and I would definitely order it again. This was the winner of our take home feast. While not everything was a hit for us, we'd return for the Sui Mai and BBQ Pork Buns and other explore some other items that we have yet to try.

Can't believe I've never reviewed the incredible Perenn at Rancharrah…read more Perenn is known for being an upscale and expensive boutique bakery, but they are worth it and truly the best. I love all of the pastries at Perenn, but the chocolate bouchons are truly exceptional, and if you want to splurge, the grab-and-go freezer is great, too. My wife is also a huge fan of their matcha. Specifically, they do a coconut cloud matcha, which is a base of lightly sweetened coconut water topped with a matcha foam. It's perfectly sweet and incredibly refreshing on a warm day. The ambiance here is perfectly upscale and accessible. The decor is very chic, and their outdoor patio space is very nice. The service is always great, and though there can be a huge line, it often moves quickly. My only wish for Perenn would be that I could visit more often! While they have expanded, more locations and lower pricing could make them a truly exceptional stand-out bakery with accessibility for all.

As a longtime Reno customer I've watched them grow from a single location into a multi-state restaurant group with six locations across Nevada and Tennessee -- and that growth is well deserved. That said I do want to share one honest observation. On top of premium pricing, which I'm happy to pay for quality, Perenn also charges subscribers for their Substack newsletter. For an independent bakery scraping by, that makes complete sense. For a thriving six-location restaurant group with real momentum and expansion capital, it feels like a bridge too far. The brand story and the people behind it are genuinely compelling, that content should be how you invite customers deeper into your world, not an additional revenue line. The food earns five stars. The Substack paywall earns a raised eyebrow. Share your story freely, you've clearly earned the audience.

I can't say I've ever met one I didn't like. Heck, even the 1/2-priced day-olds have a place in my heart. Have you ever put a donut in the microwave for 20 seconds? Today, a volunteer was needed to pick up a dozen donuts for a meeting. I said, "You buy, I fly," and off I went. It's 8:45am, not too busy, and customer service is spot on. The display cases are full of beautiful sprinkles and glaze and peanuts and bacon... yup, I was eye-balling that Maple & Bacon! I requested a mixed dozen. Then I saw it... the sign read "Sausage, Jalapeno and Cheese kolache." Ooooh goodness gracious, it was the biggest kolache I'd ever seen. And Id never seen one in Reno or Sparks. They do grow things bigger in TX. I know cuz I lived in Deep East TX. But this is Sparks, NV, and I want to try this. I've eaten a kolache or 2 or 500 in my day. He even offered to warm it up before I asked. I wanted this to be good, no I wanted it yo great. To be the "Whete have you been since I moved back to NV?" it wasn't. I was disappointed. The amount of filling to bread ratio was way off, in my opinion. I expected a sausage, not 6-8 sausage "coins" wrapped in a 7" x 5" dough package. It was soft, and the color was so inviting. It looked like it was gonna be amazing. If you've never tried one, do try Donut Bistro's kolache... It's a soft, warm, savory option. Just make sure to also ask for the Maple & Bacon, cuz that one doesn't miss a point!

We ordered the Dust Storm: a vanilla milkshake with chocolate bits, topped with a giant blondie skewered dramatically on top, plus whipped cream, sprinkles, and chocolate drizzle. The rim of the jar was coated in marshmallow dip and graham cracker crumbs because apparently subtlety has left the chat. Honestly, the presentation was on point and exactly the kind of milkshake kids dream about. Which is why we ordered it. My tween declared it "the best milkshake I've ever seen in my life," and honestly, that alone made it worth the stop on our mother-daughter trip. Taste-wise, it leaned very sweet for me and didn't have a ton of flavor depth beyond sugar overload. But clearly the goal here is maximal fun and aesthetic, and they absolutely nailed that. It's basically a photo op you can drink. The shop itself was surprisingly quiet when we visited in the evening--we had the whole place to ourselves--but there were games to play while waiting for our order (we pulled out Pick Up Sticks, which transported me straight back to my 90s childhood living room). The ladies at the counter were also incredibly kind and patient explaining the menu and flavors to us. If you're looking for an over-the-top dessert experience your kids will talk about for days, this is your place.

In my opinion, it wasn't enough. There was a steady flow of people, and she couldn't keep up with orders and customer service. We opted for two small scoops of ice cream for the kids: chocolate and Cinnamon Toast Crunch. We also ordered the sizzling blonde brownie sundae. It was about $20 for three items. The ice cream was very good, especially the Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Very unique flavor and great texture. The blondie was a bit of a letdown. First, the blondie was not "sizzling". It wasn't even really warm. Only placed in a waffle iron for a few seconds. Second, it seemed very dry and crumbly, maybe even overbaked. I thought the ideas at Black Rock are fun, and I think trying one of their milkshakes should be my next visit. However, there are a lot of great ice cream spots in Reno. For just ice cream, I think there is some heavy competition.
