State 48 Brewery is a higher rated place than 3 stars if you're there for Appetizers and Craft Beers. The food on the dinner menu is only mediocre. I have had their chicken parm and their fish tacos and burgers and they are all just ok It is not a place to go for Italian type food. I ordered the Chicken Parm as I usually get it if it's on the menu... never again. Just stick to the craft beers and appetizers and it is a fun and lively affair. I have happily dined here many times however today I was greatly disappointed. The chicken salad was half the usual size and it was mostly greens and lettuce . The precooked cold chicken was rubbery and bland . The additional ingredients.. were very scarce .. only a couple bites of cucumber hardly any corn , pitas Ect ! When mentioned to the manager she got snippy with my husband and didn't offer a discount or adjustment. Our waitress was the bartender and she was not even knowledgeable about what beers you served .. acted like it was a pain to go check !!! Saturday night on a trip to AZ led me to this microbrewery and pub. Plenty of self parking, wait was short and restaurant was clean. Server was prompt and attentive. There's a pretty good selection of beers, adequate wine list, and bar drinks. Menu includes something for everyone: appetizers, salads, sandwiches, wraps, dinners! I had a Buffalo chicken wrap, tasty and generously portioned. Fellow diners enjoyed the Mediterranean wrap and chicken Alfredo, both were reported as tasty. State 48 offers Tater Tots as well as fries, and they were perfectly cooked and crisp. I recommend them, Yum! Prices were reasonable, service was prompt but not rushed. Food was AMAZING! Service has been hit or miss for the past few years, but great lately...until tonight. Jennifer B was our server in the barrel room. It took almost 30 minutes to get our drinks, and I asked for water twice. There were maybe three other couples in the area, so they were not busy at all. We got our food after about 40 minutes, and like I said it was great. The problem is the service, Jennifer kept telling us that they were short a server, which I get but when a family comes in that appear to be her friends and they are served their drinks within five minutes, the missing server is not the problem...it's her. read more

Decided to try State 48 Brewery today for the first time. Was recommended to try the Brussels sprouts by our waitress so we agreed on those and I had the fish and chips and my wife had the pretzel sticks. The Brussels sprouts came out burnt and bitter and disgusting, the waitress never asked to fix them or get me something different she just took them away. The fish and chips were also gross. I don't know why these restaurants feel they have to put sugar in everything but the beer batter was sweet and disgusting of the fish and the fries I ate half a piece of fish and then said it was gross and sent it back, again no offer to fix it or get something else. We got our bill for $51 and some change, I paid the bill and left no tip. My first visit to State 48 was terrible and we will not go back. read more

Review #2000! I went here for dinner tonight with my boyfriend and some of his coworkers, as it was close to their hotel. I'm not a big beer drinker but I tried the Creamsicle and also the Blueberry Ale; I liked the Creamsicle more but it didn't really taste like one. The best thing I had here were the elote and the pretzels. I'm a big fan of elote and theirs was interesting... It was cut up, which was great for a group, and a little more sweet than I am used to. The pretzel came with ground mustard and beer cheese and had great presentation. For my entree I ordered the PB&J burger which was pretty good, with tots ($1 upcharge). My boyfriend got the State 48 burger, which comes with IPA-sriracha bacon; he said the bacon tasted almost the same as mine, though, which was Applewood bacon. Our waiter was very good, too, and somehow remembered all our orders without writing everything down. Overall I'd come back here although it's a little pricey - burgers were about $16. read more

Sorry to do this review after our latest visit to State 48 I was asked to recommend a lunch stop for my wife and 2 other couples while we were in the area I choose State 48 based on previous visits and the fact that everyone enjoys a good brewery with local craft beers 5 of the six of us ordered the only IPA on the menu. We thought it somewhat odd that only one IPA was featured but each ordered a pint The Waitress ( who was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable) came back and told us they were out of any IPA's Can you imagine a brewery out of there only IPA ? Burger was ok but overpriced- brisket was an embarrassment with fatty meat and not at all tender like a brisket should be. Waitperson took our order for 4 people but only 3 meals came to the table. I had to wait while the other 3 people in my party ate - uncomfortably. Not a place I recommend. It was not busy so I can't excuse the lack of attention. No offers to refill drinks. Ate here for the first time and I'm glad we did. The service was great and the food amazing. To start, we ordered buffalo cauliflower and buffalo chicken dip which were great. I didn't think I'd like the the buffalo cauliflower as much as I did but I'll def get it again. We also started with a flight of 5 sampler. I found out I'm an Ale/Lager girl so I picked samples from that section We order the pizza for the kiddos and they tore it up. Hubby and I shared fish and chips and the fig and prosciutto pizza. Bought a pack of their beer at a store, wasn't dated and was way past code but I liked the the hop and malt bill. So my wife and I planned to go there for my birthday, this evening. Check the website to see their beers, and drive over 30 mins to the location. Upon arriving and being seated we are then told that a brewery has literally run out of beer. A couple lagers and a heavy ale were all they had. I worked in the beer industry for 12 years (Stone Brewing, The Bruery) and have owned my own restaurant. How a brewery runs out of beer is beyond me, why they wouldn't put out some sort of notice letting people know before walking through the door they are tapped out. Thanks for literally ruining my birthday plans, forcing us to drive over an hour round trip, because your management team is utterly incompetent. read more

One star. The food is average at best. The service is unexplainably slow. The prices are high for what you get. The beer is meh. I don't think whoever is brewing knows the craft very well. Or if they're locally brewed craft beers then their delivery system (lines) is mucked up. The kicker though is the owner/ managers attitude. He's offensive. arrogant. And vents unnecessarily on social media in local groups. I give 1 star because of that but honestly if it weren't for him I'd still only give 3 stars. One of the best things this place has going for it Is the patio area. Which is nice in the winter. However it's right directly next to a very busy six lane street. So. I hate to give this place a 2 star because I love the food. But we waited for our food for over an hour (the restaurant is around 50% full) and when we finally received our food, half the party (there were 6 of us total) got their food 15 minutes before the rest. When we got the food two of our pizzas didn't have all of the toppings that were listed on the menu. So we sent the pizzas back and waited another 15 minutes to be fixed. So just finished my meal 2 hours into being here and to top that off, I still haven't received my first refill of water. We have gone 20+ minutes without seeing our waitress multiple times. It sucks that the service tonight was this bad because the food is always amazing. We have been back. The service is always great, and their veggie burger cooked perfectly where other places often overcook them. Come to find out, they are deep-fried! My complaint with them is that their beer temperature is inconsistent. I usually order flights, and at least 2 out of 4 are warm, every time. No one wants warm beer. Doesn't matter the time of year either! I used to think it was because the taps are at the big windows that they leave open, but with summer and triple digits, those windows are closed, and beer is still not the correct temperature. read more

I used to come here a lot. I mean, A LOT. Over the past couple of years the quality has really decreased. We still come every so often because I'm a sucker for their beer cheese...until today. The past two times I've been here the beer cheese has been extremely watery and not how it has been for years. I tossed it up to just a faulty chef here and there. However, today it tasted burnt. Like, it tasted like I was soaking pretzels in charcoal. We mentioned it to the server who didn't look at all surprised, then came back and said the cook mentioned it was the jalapeños but they'd be switching back to their original cheese in a couple weeks. What?! If it's the cheese, then it wouldn't be the jalapeños? I've been coming here for YEARS and I've never had such terrible "cheese" blamed on jalapeños and not the chef burning the pot. Then they were completely out of IPAs. They had one page of beers but not a single IPA. We were told they've been busy so they ran out of a lot of things. I'm sorry, but this is a brewery right? Not a single IPA. Just blonds, reds, and Belgians. Super crazy to me. The food I liked is not good. The beer I liked "ran out." It's no wonder there's 4 tables seated on a Saturday afternoon at lunch time. Overall so disappointed I will not come back here. My wife already didn't like it because of the bathrooms smelling so bad, but now we will never come back. Sad to see it has declined so much. It was my favorite spot in surprise for years. read more

Only reason for 1 star is the atmosphere. So disappointed in one of my favorite restaurants. Came on Easter Sunday and not packed at all which was nice but the size of plates for the the cost is absolutely disgusting. I guess that's the way it's going these days, definitely rather cook at home then pay $17 for a salad with a piece of salmon the size of chicken wing and $18 for a meatloaf the size of a piece of cheese. Very irritating and prob won't be back which makes me sad. The chicken parmigiana was the only thing that looked like a decent meal, sadly the pasta was not even cooked all the way. I can't rave enough about State 48. We walked right in at dinner time and said we had a group of 9. We were sat right away. From the hostess to the waitress and everyone above and between we were treated with not an issue. Waters and drinks always filled and laughter all around. I've been here quite a few time. I know for a fact the very first thing I ever tried was the beer cheese burger and MAN was it good!! I think I've also tried the pb and j burger as well. I honestly don't remember what else I've had. But definitely go try their beer cheese burger. So freakin good. My mouth is watering thinking about it hahah.
