One day I witnessed a head of lettuce roll off the counter and onto the floor. Some guy in the back looked around, didn't see me, grabbed the lettuce and put it back on the shelf! GROSS! Cateful buying fresh fruit and veggies at those overpriced prices! LOL Today I had another run in with a horrible, disrespectful, "I hate my job" employee. This time she decided that we were charged the correct amount for our 3 Skittles drink mixes. As she went over to the drink mix section and made that "official" determination. Saying that, "There's no sign that says it's on sale!" When I pointed it out that there was indeed a clear sign. This creepy employee then had the audacity to get huffy with me and declare, "Oh well, it doesn't matter anyways. I'm just going to issue you a refund. We aren't going to argue about this!" We went to where the "bathroom bargains" are and ripped the price sign off of the shelf. Brought it back to her. She tried to still deny the truth staring her right in the face! Finally after staring at the real price of our items, she declared, "Oh I guess I will honor it." Like she was somehow doing us a favor buy doing the right thing. I can get better deals buying in bulk with Amazon and Costco. I kind of wish this store would close permamtly. A store where you don't have to give your phone number would be awesome! Just go in, shop, pay and leave. I know it's a primitave concept but, the Pavillions concept is an epic "make people beg for bargains" fail. Passed this the store is overpriced. The store is usuallly decenly clean. Has too many bad employees. There's a slightly odd smell to the place. Can't quite put my finger on it but, there's something odd there. And seriously, what is it with the sale items being next to the bathroom? They shpuld be up front, so the confused, snotty emploees don't have to walk too far to find the correct price of certain items. Newport Beach can do better than this. Store "director" Mike Delaney is so unprofessional and distasteful. I was in the express line with my 4 items already on the belt when he told me to come into his line instead to help me. So I moved my stuff (I'm in a rush and he tells me I need my ID). I told him then I have to go to my car to get it because I'm in a hurry I only brought my phone to tap pay. Rudely he tells me "well go to your car and get it then" wow the attitude was crazy. So I go to my car like he instructed I come back and he had this crazy attitude because he was waiting for me to get my ID lol!!! Okay you must be having a bad day I told him then he says he can tell me to void my transaction and leave the store. Sir, it's not my fault you need several step stools to reach the register. Treat your customers with some respect. Who put this guy in charge? I feel bad for the employees I can only imagine what their day is like and I just ran in to purchase a few items. It was nice finding this store on our vacation, I assumed it would be pricey being that it was in the newport Beach area. To my surprise it was reasonable and actually affiliated with Albertsons which I shop at home and already had a rewards card with. The store had everything I was looking for, clean, and our cashier was very friendly. Food quality was good as well. read more

Tiny store, with some good $hit!! lol This was my first time at this grocery store. My boyfriend comes here all the time though. Like alllll the time, at least weekly. He loves it. And I can see why. Small, doesn't seem to get too crowded, and they have good stuff. It's pretty clean. Employees do their job and are nice. We basically came here to buy some fruits. We picked up watermelon, pineapple, oranges and kiwi on this run. Oh and I wanted brownies lol The pre-made brownies were moist and yummy. Everything was organized and super easy to find. It appears to be a good grocery store. I'm sure I'll be back since my boyfriend loves this place. And I don't mind it at all. Those brownies though.... I'll be grabbing every time I come. Horrible experience with one of the cashiers. She was was very rude when I asked for something as simple as a bag.

I visited this store on Wednesday, July 16, 2025. I requested $60 cash back with my purchase. The cashier (regretfully, I did not get her name - the ugly blonde one) did not count the money out before handed it to me. There were other people in line behind me and she was the only cashier working, so I started walking around the side of the counter counting my cash back. Immediately, when she saw me counting the money she started saying loudly, "I gave you two twenties" while she saw me still counting the money. When I told her I was short by $10 (she had only given me one $20, a $10, and four $5 bills, which total $50) she accused me of being a thief, told me that people come in the store and try to steal and cheat like this all the time. Firstly, I will never go back into this store ever again. Secondly, being that I have studied psychology, it was very obvious to me that this cashier has been stealing money from customers cash back long before me, so be mindful when you go into this store or any store and ask for cash back - make the cashier count the money out to you, which is what they are supposed to do - don't just let them count it out at the cash register and hand it lump sum to you. I'm sure that this cashier probably ends up with a nice little stack of money at the end of her shift, shorting customers on their cash back. I am really angry because they just ruined my only day off. Horrible way to treat a customer!!! read more

*Not So Small To Me* OC people are so funny how they claim this Pavilions is "small." It's not so small to me - if you want to witness & encounter a small Pavilions, check out their Beverly Hills location - now that's a small store. But packs a large punch. I was actually surprised yet very happy & satisfied with the size of this store because I was expecting it to be much smaller based on what I've heard then read here on Yelp. Size doesn't always matter...and I found everything I was looking for and very pleased with their inventory. Yes the interior is a little outdated - especially for Newport Beach. But it's fine with me as long as I'm able to get what I'm looking for, that I'm able to find at their other Pavilions in Marina del Rey & Beverly Hills. I was also impressed with the friendly staff I encountered & interacted with - especially the nice guy in the seafood department - which is stocked with Santa Monica Seafood. I like the convenience of the self-checkout stand and look forward to shopping more at this store when I'm this section of Newport Beach. Their parking lot is adequate & fairly large, and finding a space doesn't appear to be an issue, even though it's within a strip mall center. read more

I was pleased to see Laura Spino as the new manager of the wine and spirits department. When she was at the other store, she oversaw catering for me for 3 years for a monthly business breakfast. She is a Sommelier and has a great knowledge of wine. Give her a variety and your price point and she will steer you to the best value. If you don't see it at the store, she'll get it for you. This store didn't have a concierge before but now, with Laura, you can get your boat, home or events scheduled and delivered. Pairings of food and wine and cheese. The store is a good Pavilions for a beach town with less space than the big boxes. But the staff has always been good to me. read more

I called Pavillions at 10:58 pm this evening looking for a specific brand of eggs, Happy Eggs. They've been out of stock nearly everywhere. The gentleman who picked up on the other line, Cesar, urged his associates Shane and Andrew to "run, run" and do a stock check. I waited with bated breath until Cesar confirmed they did indeed have my coveted eggs. With the store about to close in 1 minute, I shot my hail mary and asked if there was any way I could do a curbside pick up that evening, and much to my surprise, Cesar agreed. I raced down Jamboree only to find Cesar, Shane, and Andrew all waiting for me with my precious dozen, 8 minutes past closing time. And the really crazy thing? The registers were closed by then so they paid for it out of their own pocket and refused to take my money. 10 out of 10 Exceptional customer service and attitude. Talk about going above and beyond, these guys didn't have to do any of that. Could have ignored the line ringing at 10:58 pm, didn't have to do all that cardio on a stock check, didn't have to stay past closing hours, and they sure as heck didn't have to pay for my eggs. But THEY DID. When someone needs that one ingredient, that one brand last minute, Pavillions came through with teamwork and generosity. Huge thank you to Cesar, Shane, and Andrew you guys saved my fried rice and my morning breakfast, and for that, I am indeed one Happy Egg. read more

I shop at the Newport Beach Pavillions once per month when I'm in town. It is hands down, one of the best Pavilions in the Albertson's chain. This location continues to thrive in spite of being owned by a soulless private equity firm named after a dog that guards the gates of hell. It's inspiring to see flickers of a bygone era--back when you could actually experience great customer service at a major grocery store chain. Hat tip to the store manager. Every time I go in, he's always working the aisles or the front end. The liquor department is to die for. It's beautifully stocked with an eclectic array of high end wine and spirits. I bought a bottle of bourbon and some Luxardo cherries and am enjoying a lovely cocktail as I type this. Raising my glass to Tom, the Liquor Manager and Sommelier who works there. He's friendly, professional and extremely knowledgeable. Give that guy a raise! read more

Absolutely horrible, they serve expired food. Went in for boxed mac and cheese and not ONCE but TWICE they had been expired by a month. Also, they had a cheesecake on display with mold and we pointed it out to the associate and she stated, "That's the only one we have." She didn't even pull it from the display! There is a total lack of safety and care from the employees all the way up to the managers. You're better off going to a different store, this place has a total disregard for public health. read more

I remember this store as very upscale, but it has changed drastically. The employees are lovely and helpful, but the quality of the food has deteriorated. I bought a rotisserie chicken that came shriveled up and fry and had no legs. Just a stump of a leg on one side and nothing on the other. I returned it and picked up some other items instead. Upon arriving home I realize I was never refunded for the pathetic roadkill fowl and the kale salad mix bag I picked up is expired by 6 days!! I must agree on the terrible customer service with the other reviewers here. It's a grocery store, all I want is to buy my groceries and leave. Instead, she charged me for things I didn't buy and as I'm standing there quietly waiting for her to correct the problem, she started telling me how it was my fault because "that's why it's important you put the dividers" were her exact words. Yes, lady, I did, but you were too busy screwing up on the order before us as well to notice. While she's trying to correct our order, I watched her as she scaned the next customer's items. The customer bought some flowers, the checkout clerk scanned and jammed her flowers into the conveyer belt, blossoms first, without even looking over. The customer looked upset but quickly got out of there. She also screwed up on correcting our order. We had to teach her simple math and how to read the receipt. DO NOT SHOP HERE OR SPEND ANY MONEY IN THIS PARKING LOT. They are running a parking scam and will tow out of town plates ASAP and blame it on the beach parking rule. This is absolutely a hustle involving a lil security person on a bike and the tow company. I spent money at Newport Nails getting a pedicure, walked to No Rest For Bridget to shop for a min and then when I came out my truck was on the tow truck. They never once tried to find me and completely ruined the relaxing vibe from my pedicure. These are lowlifes looking to make a buck or have an excuse to get into your car, BEWARE THIS PARKING LOT AND STORES ARE OUT TO GET YOU. So, I'm not a negative person by nature. My reviews tend to focus on the positive and my upbringing would tell me to talk to the manager about this issue and tell him or her: "Your store STINKS!" and I mean that quite literally. This is not the only Pavillion store that has a smell my usual tolerant self can't tolerate. (The Pavillions in Lido Isle, if I remember correctly has the same problem). I think it must be the way they instruct their butchers. None of the Ralph stores around here have that bloody smell from the moment you walk in the door!. I notice in other grocery stores that sometimes the people in the meat department fry some items to counteract any negative ordor. This grocery store is the closest to my house and I only go when I absolutely have to! My husband thinks I'm crazy (my view of this store is not the only reason). But be that as it may, he thinks I'm wrong about the small and even though he notices it, he excuses by some faulty reasoning; my neighbor says she's never noticed a smell, but here's what I'm saying: If you're a person, who has any sense of smell better than my husband and my neighbor, you might be bothered with this store. On the positive side, the clerks are nice and, of course, when you're standing in the parking lot, you can look over to the water in the harbor. I am very surprised though, that the wealthy people in this area (of which I'm not) actually put up with the smell of this store and the one on Lido Island. Very puzzling to me. Maybe someone braver than I am can tell the manager his store stinks (literally)! If I owned the Von stores (which I believe Pavillions is a part of), I'd send a spy over to the trainers at Ralph's and find out their secret to a nicely smelling grocery store. read more

We shop at Pavilions all the time and have come to expect top quality products, selection, professional/knowledgeable employees, and responsive management. The Burbank store is a good example. This particular store is an embarrassment. Staff members are generally unhelpful, management is hapless at best, and some staff have even taken lousy customer service (rudeness) to new levels. Almost an art form. Pavilions should invest some corporate resources in providing staff development (in service) to the folks at this location. It is desperately needed. read more

Contrary to Kristi's review, I have never been accosted by sales people at this store. I live close by and I can't tell you how many times I've had to run by here for just one thing, or stock up during their wine sales for parties. All of the employees are always super nice and look at your receipt when you're checking out for your last name so they can thank you for coming. Being allergic to wheat, pavs has an excellent selection of organic food, gluten-free options and they are all reasonably prices. I usually shop at a farmers 'type' market, but pavs has the best overall goods, including eco-friendly cleaning products and organic wine : - ) ...not to mention their prices on local flowers, succulents and herbs that you can plant! February 15 2014 I just got off the phone with this store. I tried to buy some roses for Valentine's Day last night at 9:00 pm but the manager said that I would need to wait until the morning when the floral lady was in. I called the next day and was informed that Pavillion had marked up their flowers for Valentine's Day and the prices would not be re- priced at their normal rate until Sunday or Monday. Really?!? I don't believe that the store manager or staff have evil intentions, I just believe that they are uncaring and quite frankly stupid. The store usually looks messy, mostly is not stocked (especially on sale items), and the manager and staff seem to be bored with their jobs and unhelpful to customers. IT IS A CONVENIENCE STORE. I have been going to this store a lot just for connivence purposes but im not impressed. My biggest grievance is that they do not have paper bags. I usually bring my own bag but sometimes I forget or need an extra and all they ever have is plastic which should be outlawed if you ask me. The store is also over priced. read more
