Disappointed at the Red Hill Location - Might Switch to Closer Stores I've been a loyal Stater Bros. customer for years. I regularly drive at least 12 miles past other grocery stores just to shop at the Kensington Park Drive location because their customer service has always been outstanding. The staff there is friendly, helpful, and makes the extra trip worth it every single time. Today I decided to try the Red Hill location instead, and I was really let down. The store seemed mostly empty, but the cashier Adrian at the 15-items-or-less register got visibly upset when he saw I had 17 items. I immediately apologized and explained I wasn't paying attention and had just gone to the closest register. Even though there was no line behind me (just one employee buying a drink) and another register was open, he made it very clear that my 2 extra items were a major inconvenience. It honestly ruined what should have been a quick, simple trip. After years of great experiences at your other store, this one bad interaction left a sour taste. I'm now seriously considering trying the other grocery stores closer to me instead of continuing to drive out of my way. read more

Pretty decent Stater Brothers located in a low key plaza with a gas station, a couple restaurants, and other businesses. Decent amount of parking. Lots of florals and seasonal gifts in the front, they also have a service deli here, sushi, custom cakes, and what looks like a food prep bar for Mexican food near the back in the produce section, but it was closed by the time that we got there in the evening. Store was decently organized and staff was friendly. Pretty busy. Saw some goods that I have never seen before like peanut butter chocolate animal crackers. Restroom could have been just a tad cleaner and it gave off Saw restroom vibes but no big worry. Grocery store located on Red Hill in Tustin. Large parking in the front. I recently shopped here at Stater Bros. Markets because I needed supplies for Thanksgiving dinner. Overall I was quite impressed -- it's a solid, dependable supermarket that delivers on value and convenience. I like how when there is a holiday, there is a sectio of the store for all your holiday needs. This is helpful as I can find marhmallow, yams, pie crust, cranberry sauce, bread rolls, butter all in the same vicinity of each other. Friendly service and helpful staff. Employees were polite and accommodating, especially when I asked for help finding items. The staff's helpfulness made the experience smooth and pleasant. I haven't been back in months for today's visit I can see that the store as improved on their cleanliness and had a much better organized layout. Aisles were tidy and well-stocked, and the store felt easy to navigate -- which made shopping efficient and relatively stress‑free. read more

I usually don't shop at Stater Bros, but needed to grab something real quick for a gathering. I was immediately taken back by the great customer service provided by Marshall. I usually have little to no interactions with an employee at a market, but Marshall took the time to personalize my experience and have a genuine conversation with me. He was kind and respectful. I was surprised how clean and organized things were. As I was browsing one of the managers Marshall offered his assistance and showed me where my items were. We don't have Stater Bros where I live so it's always fun to visit one when I can. The selection is great, produce is good and fresh, decent if small liquor section, and excellent house plants. This is a newer location. It's very clean and big. I love their gluten free blueberry waffles here (I prefer them over the Trader Joe's ones as they taste better and are cheaper). They also have Arby's curly fries.. but my absolute favorite (I haven't tried it yet but it's my favorite because I haven't seen it anywhere else) is their ice cream cupcakes!!! What!? Didn't even know they were a thing! I would totally purchase but it comes in a pack that is way too much for me to eat haha. Would looove to try it though one day!! One of the bad management location ever. The employees there are very nice and helpful but the management attitude is very rude . I used to buy a lot of strawberries from them ( big quality) " if they have enough. Also after the employee checked their inventory. But recently they stopped allowing me to buy it even it's not fresh enough and pretty small and they have a lot. I don't understand if they didn't allow customers buying their stuff then why they open?? Hopefully the high management at the corporate level keeps their eyes a little bit on the store management.. Everyone is so rude. Cashiers don't greet you ever. Secretly or explicitly mock you. I say "thank you," and they don't even say it back. It's like I'm getting my groceries for free or something. The other Tustin location is much better! read more

As I'm writing this, I notice this store averages 2.5 stars on yelp. I wonder if the store manager knows or cares. The last few times here, I make a mental note to possibly chat with the manager about stuff. But every few months I'm here, I notice it's a new manager, so there's more turnover than a pie shop. That could be a problem right there. They also are hesitant to say "thank you", but say, "Here you go" when you get your change. One improvement I've noticed is that the cashiers and box kids they hire are neater than ever in appearance, many can speak both English and Spanish in this highly Hispanic customer base. Some cashiers actually say hello once in a while. Can't yet say they're happy to work here, like at Trader Joe's or even Albertson's 2 miles away. But no employee has snarled at me recently though they have in the past As others have said this store at time is not really clean, it's old, and doesn't have the in store bakery, like the Costa Mesa Fairview and Adams store. Parking usually sucks. But tonight, on Jan. 1, the parking lot was half full or empty...take your pick. if I were to base my rating on just the price on the things I bought, I'd consider 4 star plus. The best prices in town: New York Steak bone-in, any size, $3.99 a pound (usually twice as much) Whole Zacky Farms chicken 79 cents a pound (usually twice as much) Eggs, large $2.49 a dozen, everyday price Sarah Lee Frozen Berry Pie $5.49 instead of $7.99 Coke products (including Sprite) 4 for $11, must buy 4 Mini Watermelon - $2.99 each, price at Von's is $2 dollars more Fresh Corn, 49 cents each (double that most places) Extra Heavy whipped cream ($2.99 instead of $4.39) Ground Beef ($2.50 a pound, usually $4.00) S Bros Sour Cream 8 oz $1.79, usually $2.50 8 lbs. Russet potatoes, $2.99 (some places $1 a pound) Rice A Roni 4/$5, normally about $1.75 each (I think) There were lots of other great buys that I didn't need like hard liquor on SALE. Surprising how many grannies buy that stuff. Still the prices are awesome without those irritating Rewards cards. And tonight the checkout line was long, but the young cashier guy was fast. Very nice people work here. Stater Bros, as far as I know, is a Christian company. I haven't looked at their website to see what their mission statement is, but I have enjoyed shopping at their markets for a long time. Inside they have a SchoolsFirst mini-bank. Teller windows and a small office and ATM machine adjacent to the office comprise the mini-bank. No change counting machine as far as I can see. Maybe they will get that later. The tellers here are pretty cool and help you quickly. On to the review of Stater Bros. Their organic offerings are somewhat limited, but they do carry some organic. The non-organic produce has been fresh and reasonably priced when I've purchased it. They seem to offer a good amount of volume discounts on chips and drinks. The reason why I take off a star is: I feel they need more cashiers and baggers. Sometimes the lines take a while. The company offers coupons in their circulars and online. I know I'll be back here. Another tip: Baskin Robbins is nearby, in the same strip mall. Target and Citibank are also in the mall as well as some other stores. read more

This store is a mess. It's old and outdated. It's dingy and dirty. The layout of the store is confusing. Places you think products should be aren't in that aisle. The produce section is dark and cramped. They stuck a frozen food section near produce . Which makes no sense at all. You can't find a scale to weigh fruits and veggies. I've seen liquid spilled all over the floor. Paper towels covering the floor. The manager is rude and unprofessional. He looks like someone that would run this dump. His whole demeanor is nasty. Some of the cashiers are unprofessional and lack training of good customer service skills. read more

Better than Ralphs. Consumers need to read the fine print on their sale ads. Some of their produce turns rotten soon after purchasing. Milk turns rotten days before the expiration date, so I buy my milk elsewhere. Butcher section is good & bad. Their premium mild sausage is really good. Some of their packaged beef is bloody & full of fat. Sometimes they run out of common meat, like hamburger & chicken during peak hours. When i used to live in Tustin, this supermarket was one of the places I would frequent. I found a lot of my needs could basically be found here. For one, their prices are comparably cheaper than most groceries, and their produce is relatively cheap. Once in awhile however, they have a random piece of vegetable or fruit that has been out longer than it needs to be and has to be chucked out. Their beef and pork are relatively well priced and conveniently cut. Their seafood selection is few and more on the frozen food section. Otherwise, when it comes to bread, milk, yogurt, and produce, the basics are here and readily available. As for the lines I ready about in previous reviews, I usually do my grocery shopping on weekdays in the morning so I never have this problem. read more

I pretty much do all my grocery shopping here, I was really happy with the store but lately I've noticed that I find my self buying expired goods. It's happen with juice bottles, bread yogurt or with chicken . I've gotten chicken and when I open it at home to cook, it just smells rotten, that I've had to return it, it definitely upsets me because I'm sure they can smell how bad it smelled to know that they shouldn't sell it. I like the location is the wide selection of groceries. The two stars is because of the customer service here. It's just plain and simple they hate their jobs and are completely rude to their customers. I've been here three times hoping the person had a bad day. I came a few weeks ago to pick up a few items at about 11pm. A young, tall blonde man opened a new register for me. When he noticed I was wearing business clothes, he seemed to treat me with racist hostility and perhaps a jealous attitude. He didn't respond at all to my "Hello, how are you". And he gave me a terrible attitude overall. When I said thank you anyway, he seemed to look at me with a malignant pleasure as if to display his delight in offending me and hurting my feelings. Every time I pick up an item here, I make sure to avoid him. Once I even avoided taking the shorter line only because it was at his register. This cashier guy sucks!!! I hope he gets replaced soon so no more innocent customers have to put up with his B.S. However, upon a different visit, a young black lady was remarkably friendly toward me! Props to her! I recently stopped at the Stater Bros, Redhill Ave. Tustin, to pick up groceries. (This is not my usual Stater Bros market) a total purchase of over $74.00. Since my granddaughter was visiting, I purchased 2 packages of Chocolate Chip cookies 2 for $7.00. When I got home, there was only one pkg in my plastic bag. When I emailed the store to let them know, they said they had bagged two packages, put them in my cart and I had left the store with 2 packages; basically calling me a liar. This is no longer about the cost of the cookies but the way Stater Bros handled my complaint. They will never see my business again, there are other markets in the area that want nothing more than loyal shoppers. Avoid this store if you want good service! read more

I'm standing in the Coke aisle wondering if it could've got a better deal at Walmart and I thought about and I thought about it, but thought it's too late, I mean I'm already here anyways so I checked out. I got in my car and did the math, 4 for $5.00 in comparison to Walmart's current price of $1.49 multiplied by four leaves me at $5.96 before CRV and taxes.
