This place is special I'm adding another review. I've been coming here for years for lunch and usually bring a book to read. The owners, when here, always stop and say hi. Had my last visit today. Been here many times before and had amazing steak sandwiches. Taken many friends/family to have the steak sandwich. Always was amazing, tender, delicious. Today I took my sister to introduce her to the best steak sandwich around. She started eating before me and said it was not that good. I'm looking at her like she's crazy as I put mayo and mustard on my Sammy. I take the first bite and notice this is NOT the flavor that I had before. Added a little salt and pepper thinking that will help. NOPE! Each bite was tough and loaded with gristle or inedible fat or something that I couldn't separate with my teeth. I'm pulling pieces apart and having to eat around the tough meat. I took the sandwich up to the register and asked them if they changed the cut of meat they use. They said no, it's always been either rib eye or NY. Every single one of the many I'd had before were the same. This one was different. Even looked different, as if it had been run through a machine in an attempt to tenderize it. Didn't work! You could see through some parts kind of like the way a knitted scarf would look If you stretched it out and could see the holes in it. Anyway, the guy said, "You must have got a tough cut" or "bad cut". I can't remember exactly the wording. But then he just shrugged me off. No offer to fix the problem. I was hungry, I hadn't had breakfast, and it was obvious the guy didnt care, so I just went back to my table and ate the rest of the bread and fixings while gnawing off any edible meat from my horrible steak. $26 for a sandwich and fries. Not willing to spend that much and hope I get a good cut of meat. I'm done. read more

This place served me the best pork chops I've ever had and my child ordered half rack ribs....phenomenal! That's all i gotta say.

Had such an amazing experience here today! Zach (also the manager) made my tuna sandwich to perfection. I am a little picky about it being too watery and he had mentioned he would do his best to make it less watery. When I tell you my sandwich was so fire! huge slices of celery! It had red onion, lettuce, and tomatoes. I got it on wheat but the have other breads as well. He was so awesome and I appreciate him doing his best to accommodate me. I also got a Lasorada Cab which I am so excited to taste I will definitely be back! They have so much food to choose from, exclusive Candies, alcohol, bbq seasonings, and tons of cool bottled drinks. Remember when Orchards and Blue Hills were together back in the day. Remember them doing bbq at Whittier Christian High School. Nice size place with plenty of seating. The kids working the counter (deli section) were very nice. They were easy to talk with and had a great attitude with a willingness to help. Unfortunately there was a little hiccup with the order we got, where they added an extra sandwich. A mix up during ordering the food. But one of the employees assisted us with it and took care of the situation with no problem or fuss. I got a pastrami which they set it up like a French dip. Never had a pastrami this way before, it was good. The pastrami was cut a bit too thick for me though and the bread was not what I was expecting. Got an order of large fries and large onion rings which felt more like a regular order size not a large. We also got a Reuben sandwich, pulled pork sandwich and another pastrami. The flavor of all the meats were really good, however the bread that the meat came on really brings it down a notch. Presentation of the food could use a little love. I think because of the price we saw, we were really expecting something more. They do have a meat counter as well which has a bunch of really great looking cuts of meats and sausages. This review is for the butcher side. There is a guy that typically mans this counter and the first time I walked in, I was a little intimidated by the selection and had some questions. Immediately did NOT feel comfortable asking any questions, in fact, the mere presence of me at the counter was bothering him, interrupting him maybe. Terrible feeling. Gave them another chance a few months later, same guy, same apparent general dislike of customers, not cool as your support comes from customers like myself looking to spend $$ on a few cuts of fresh meat to feed their family. Would rather spend my hard earned dollars elsewhere. read more

I'm so frustrated to have to write this as I'm desperate to find decent bbq in California, but sadly this isn't it. Service was friendly and prompt, and the atmosphere was cool, but the good ends there. The tri tip was grey for some reason and my chicken tasted like a rubber dog toy. The sauce tastes just like cheap bottle sauce and isn't even warmed up. The tiny roll they give you is inedible and I'm offended by what they call a piece of cornbread. Came here to check it out. Place is nice and open.. Meat market serves Harris Ranch meats on the left, and counter to order food straight ahead. I got the cheese burger and small order of onion rings.. $14 dollars later, and get like 5 rings and a small smashed bun burger. You can tell it was homemade rings, so they were good, but a little more would of been good. The burger was small, but what saved it was the quality of the meat and size. It was an ok experience, not sure id come back for that, but maybe to try some of the BBQ. read more

Can in for a quick lunch just to try them out. Had the meatball sandwich, pulled pork sandwicsh and the small tri tip chili fries. First 2 were ok but would try something different next time. Possibly one of the worst steak sandwiches I've ever had. I don't think they could have cooked it anymore. Clearly the cook doesn't know what he/she is doing. I could have chipped my teeth if I wasn't careful with the first bite. The fries were even terrible. Cold and soggy. We threw our entire dinner away. I tried to call them and report the problem and nobody answered the phone We went back to try again and walked in at 5:08 pm. Closing time was 6pm. Thinking we had ample time to place an order. As we were walking in one of the employees was reaching up to turn off the open sign. I asked him if they were closed and he said yes the kitchen has shut down for the evening. This will be the last time trying this place. If you close at 5pm they need to adjust their times as advertised. Unfortunately the kids working there seem to take no pride in customer service. We used to enjoy this place in the past when the owner was present. He was genuinely nice and took pride in what he does. read more

Great bacon and meat kabobs. It was my first time at this location. The butcher suggested that I order a sandwich. That sounded good, so I went to the side and found the sizable menu and finally decided on the classic Italian. I was all ready to order when the guy behind the register said that he didn't have the meat cut up for the Italian. I didn't understand why he could not cut it up and make it for me. The potato salad looked good and so did a bag of chips. I was really disappointed because at that point I wanted a sandwich. I guess next time I will have to call it in or wait until the middle of the day. The meat from the butcher was good. Teriyaki kabobs and black pepper kabobs. I ordered the tri tip chili cheese fries and was expecting sliced or shredded tri tip on top of the fries. Unfortunately, it was just regular chili cheese fries with ground meat on top with cheese. I can't say for sure if the meat itself is ground tri tip, but if it is, I do feel like the quality of the tri tip goes down when it's ground. The small portion was around $10, although pricing isn't too bad, I do believe the price can be less considering there's no actual pieces of meat in it My review has potential to increase if their other food is good, but it's hard to say. I originally wanted the buffalo wings, but when I came for lunch around 1p, they were sadly out. I'm not sure if they were just out in general or they run out fast. The restaurant is clean. Very spacious. Not crowded at all. The prices are pretty expensive and the amount of food isn't really worth it. The reuben was ok. Nothing spectacular. The BLT was decent. It did come with plenty of bacon. Fries were crispy. The burgers were alright. The service was great though. Very friendly and they actually were willing to exchange a chicken salad sandwich we had ordered for a burger. My husband and I both got sandwiches. The meat was tender. The portion size was just right. Everything is a la cart so it can add up rather quickly. They have board games to play with while you dine. The place was very family friendly and relaxed although they do sell beer. The food took a little long but we stayed busy playing connect 4. Location is in a small parking center with ample parking. The place is a mix between a meat store and a restaurant. I didn't order any cuts of meat, but they looked to be reasonably priced and quality. They had some TVs going on playing the playoff games, with some families inside enjoying their sunday afternoon. Seems like a quaint location to just have a pleasant meal. Ordered take out, and got the Prime Rib Sandwich, Small Order of Steak Fries, and Mac Salad. The Prime RIb Sandwich offered an okay amount of meat, but it was fatty and flavorful. The Mild BBQ sauce paired fairly well with the sandwich. Star of the meal is the steak fries. Consider getting a soda because they have a great selection of out of the ordinary bottle sodas. We found a table and sat. Shortly after, a staff walked over with our order. Generous size of my Italian sandwich , and hubby got three filets with his fish n chips order. ( sauces were nearly given in a small container : tartar sauce, ketchup and vinegar malt.) Both of us were happy with our lunches. You can see the owner is very involved in his community. Besides the pics of local events , there was also a cute book exchange station near the entry which likely either a Girl Scout or Boy Scout made to earn their award achievement.
