This is after he repeatedly told me via text that he would pay me for my financial losses. See attached screenshots. Ken promised via text IN FEBRUARY 2023 to repay me for my damages. That did not happen, and it is now May 2023, so I've now filed a complaint with the state licensing commission and will take him to small claims court, if necessary. The state licensing committee told me he has prior complaints. This past October we contracted with FloorGem to remove carpet and refinish the wooden floors…read moreunderneath as well as refinish existing floors in upstairs bedrooms. Bottom line up front - the floors look pretty good given their age but there were big misses in terms of communication and quality of work. If you are recovering floors under carpet as we did, I'd strongly recommend pulling it all up first and then get an estimate so you know what you are dealing with. The work was set to start on a Monday, moving the furniture out to a Pod for storage and then refinishing to be done by Saturday. The movers (recommended by FloorGem) contacted us and we set up their coming by at about 11am since I had a doctor's appointment at 9am. While I am being examined by the doctor I get a call from Ken (FloorGem) that his carpet removal people cannot get in as no one is home. There had been absolutely no indication that anyone from his team was showing up Monday morning, and how could they do their work anyway given the furniture was still in place? They ended up going to another job that day. Movers showed up on time and did an excellent job. Tuesday we get a text that part of the floor is in poor shape and boards really have to be replaced. That was always a potential so we simply had to accept that and move forward. However, when I dropped by later that evening to see for myself I was quite surprised to see that the work crew had "hot wired" their sander into our electric junction box in the basement, running a thick extension cord up to second floor where they had started sanding the floors that day. No one had mentioned that this would be necessary, and I have no idea whether the person doing this was a licensed electrician (highly doubt it). Thursday morning I get a call from Ken that sections of the floor in LR and DR have darker stain on them. I dropped everything to go home, thinking Ken would be there to discuss options but instead it was the work crew. The lead was very helpful, pointing out the stain and showing me how it would look with a couple of different stains. I picked the one that seemed best, as replacing these boards on top of those already replaced was not in budget. As noted above, if you are in a similar position wanting to recover those original wooden floors under carpet or vinyl, get that stuff up first so that you can better assess what is involved and what compromises you may need to make. The job was completed on time and we were able to move back in the following Monday morning. Given what FloorGem had to work with, the floors look pretty good. However, the quality of the work was a bit sloppy in parts. Stain was splashed onto baseboard and on the railing, even some stain on LR wall which thankfully Mr. Clean Magic Eraser handled ok. The wooden lip that transitions from the LR to kitchen is too high so that we can no longer close that door. I checked the junction box and, so far as I could see, appears reassembled properly (but still not thrilled it was done). Also found a cell phone (not ours) in basement, texted FloorGem to ask if it belonged to their crew but no response. So in brief, the floors look fine but we now have other issues to address to get everything in an acceptable state.

We appreciated them expediting the appraisal, which was critical for this determination and luckily resulted in what we were hoping for. We always received quick, helpful, and easy to understand responses from Chris and Bryce, even on evenings, weekends, and Father's Day. Our loan was fully approved in about 2.5 weeks, even with a 5 week closing timeline. The rate we received was highly competitive. We have had absolutely zero complaints or hiccups throughout many, many months of working with Chris and the team, and we would unquestionably recommend Chris to friends and use him again.

I was very happy with my first condo purchase! Even after the condo was closed the First Home Mortgage team was open to answering my questions about all the new home owner mail I received. Terrible customer service. They don't stand by their work and are only interested in charging for…read moreongoing service calls. I had an issue with the generator not automatically switching over to power the house during an outage. Over a period of almost a year, they came out and Joel the tech said he replaced the switch that controlled it, yet he left before he tested whether it was indeed the problem. In every outage since, the generator would start just fine but never switch over to power the house. They just keep charging for service calls but don't stay long enough to see if they resolved the problem. I could go on but you get the point. One would think they would warranty their work to resolve the problem! We've since moved out of the area yet they still send out bills for the last service call, even though they did not do anything except recommend replacing another $650 worth of parts. I declined their offer to order the parts. I'm not a fool and know when I am being played as yet another dumb homeowner at the mercy of this kind of operation. Stay away!

We were remodeling an old tub to a stand up shower and needed tiles and other supplies for the job…read more We purchased beautiful tiles by Roca, grout by Mapei, a Schluter niche frame, chrome jolly strips and green waterproof sealant for the walls. The salespeople helped me select the tiles and educated me about the paint and all the Schluter products to make my project contemporary and beautiful. They also recommended colors for the grout and the smooth multi stone trim tile for the niche and floor. The only place they failed was in providing me a sufficient amount of Jolly strips for the edges of the shower and the niche. They sold me 3 instead of 4 causing the contractor to have to return to the shop to get the fourth strip. That's why they get 4 stars instead of 5. Prices and quality were very good with no damaged tiles.

DON'T BOTHER BOOKING!!!! During the site visit, I was assured that the free Nest thermostat offered was compatible with the heat pump system in my home. This turned out NOT to be true!! The thermostat was wired in a way that sent me unit into emergency mode and I received an electric bill in excess of ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS the following month. I got their contact information from PEPCO, who told me to reach out to them to resolve the issue, and that's when my problems got worse! The phone went to answering machine and, after leaving a message, I started to receive text messages from a rep. WHOEVER this person was tried to pressure me into paying for a service call to remedy an issue they caused!! I tried to give whoever I was speaking to the benefit of the doubt and asked for an owner or someone from management. This only resulted in blunt responses asking "if I wanted to pay or end the conversation" This is a HORRIBLE way to do business and I suggest for anyone else "Who Has Nothing To Lose and Take the FREE Products" to THINK TWICE!!

The folks came out in cooperation with BGE to do energy assessments and upgrades to our home…read more Your first thought will be this is a scam. This is not a scam. Work with these people! BGE was very careful in scheduling this assessment so that we were comfortable with the rep from EZ Green Home. He came out as a part of the Empower MD program that we all fund through small surcharges in our electric bills. They upgraded small things in our home that affect our power consumption at no charge (light bulbs, smart-ish power strips, etc). This was all done at no additional charge to us, again because this program is funded by surcharges we all pay in our electric bills. The representative who came out was extremely friendly, very professional and knowledgeable, and also educated us on other programs available for saving money on larger home upgrades. Much of our home was already energy saving, but he gave us 10 LED light bulbs and an energy saving power strip at no charge to us. This was such a beneficial and appreciated visit.
