I've been meaning to check them out for a quite a while and had the opportunity to have lunch there. Although they mainly seem to market themselves as a "burger place", they have lots of other options and I decided to try the chicken hoagie. I really enjoyed it and to my surprise finished off the entire thing. Our server was very nice and engaging. He had a very friendly attitude and checked on us frequently without being overly attentive. The restaurant itself has such a great vibe, having been an old firestation. Your mind wanders around what the walls have seen over the years this building was used as an actual firehouse. My only criticism is that the food was a little slow to be served. Although it wasn't a ridiculous amount of time; waiting is never fun, especially when the restaurant isn't really crowded. Overall it was a very good experience and I'll definitely be back.
Such a neat place! Station 2 was recommended by a local and I'm glad to took his advice. Service was fast and SO friendly. But not in a fake way. Just very genuine. It's March and their special on the board outside was a Reuben burger. Say no more. I was sold before I even entered the building. Rueben's are my fave. And on a big fat ground beef burger? Hardly anything better. My daughter and I both ordered one. She got sweet potato tots and I got a side salad. Salad was very fresh and crisp. Tots were a great flavor and nice and crispy. I wish we had ordered other things to rate! Fun atmosphere. Great food. ONLY downside is parking is terrible. But I assumed that's the nature of the area.
Station 2 is a good option for a late night casual bite since they're open until midnight every day but I wouldn't go otherwise. The food is average and portions are slightly smaller than I'd expect. They do have an option for a half sized burger for $6, which is really nice when you don't want to commit to a full one. The service was a little slow when we went on a weeknight. Also the tables and benches were really sticky.
I ordered a pressed burger tonight at 11:25PM (knowing full well the kitchen closed in 5 minutes)... and taking a bite just now-- this is legitimately the best, most affordable burger. Station 2 is for the locals but it's also for the people who just want a SOLID burger. Do not sleep on station 2. Their pressed burgers are affordable and filling. Their gourmet burgers are second to none. Better than any competitor in the area. Plus the staff are always so so nice. Makes "coming back" feel like "coming home".
OMG! This pub was incredible. A great menu and full bar in a repurposed fire house. The staff is great and food and drink are excellent. I had the black and blu burger. My guest had a burger with Mac and cheese, and jelapano poppers. Food was delicious. Really incredible atmosphere.
Had a pretty good burger at Station 2. It's an old fire station converted to bar/restaurant. Service was good, family enjoyed their meals. As an ex-firefighter, had to try it out. A good selection of area beers that were wonderful.
Being honest this place is absolutely terrible. The tables and entire place are covered in grime. The waitresses are too busy with what appears to be socialization/dating on the clock (to me) to care for their tables and it took over 45 mins to get food on table one time. Other times they were just always on their phone somewhere or talking to people instead of providing attentive service. The food is BAD nasty and mediocre, the kitchen, prep table, utensils, anything the food touches likely needs cleaning based on the taste. Trivia is nice and so is the flight special, other than that SKIP THIS DIVE
Station 2 is a gem of a place with great cheap food that I would be glad to be a regular at... if it were located somewhere else. Came here yesterday for trivia with a few friends and was reminded of why I don't come to shockoe bottom more: pretty sketchy place. Obviously a bunch of other people feel comfortable enough here but as someone who used to work in security, I noticed a lot of red flags in the blocks surrounding this place. Be vigilant. As for Station 2 itself, I was very impressed. The interior is charming, the seating was comfortable and not cramped, the service was exemplary, and the trivia was excellent too. The menu prices are extremely affordable by modern standards, with some appetizers of decent size under $10. I opted for the American nachos (pictured) and they were delicious, not bad for $8! The craft beer selection is great, and while I opted for a Hardywood Gingerbread Stout on this occasion, their alcohol milkshakes looked amazing. Might try one in the future if I venture this way again. All things considered, I want to come back here, but safety is something I take seriously, so I would not risk the safety of family or dates bringing them here personally. Your mileage may vary, though your dollar will go far here! Overall: 4.0 stars ----- Pros: - Outstanding service from our server, memorably pleasant. - Great interior design, former firehouse. - Excellent food at reasonable prices. - Good draft beer selection. Cons: - The area this is in is worrisome, I recommend parking as close to station 2 as possible. - Speaking of parking, it can be tough to find some here depending on time and day of the week. I was lucky and found some on the street a block away. If you have to park more than three blocks away or so, maybe visit another day.
I can't get enough of these burgers. All the food I've had here was a hit. Service is great. The bartender Josh is super nice! They constantly have different beers and burger specials. Lots of vegan options.
The food here is absolutely delicious! Their version of the poutine fries really knocked it out of the park. My boyfriend really liked the grilled cheese burger and I adored the beer cheese burger. I liked being able to get a salad without a large upcharge too. They have so many ciders and beers to choose from. The waiter was very quick to greet us and helped put together a great flight of beers for my boyfriend. He regularly checked on us and made sure we were happy with everything. The adult milkshakes... Omg! So delicious! You almost can't even tell they're alcoholic. This is a little hole in the wall joint that's hard to find unless you know where to look for it. There is a covered seating area outside though I don't think it was available to sit there when we went. It is very loud in here, I think partially due to the building itself. If you don't care about having conversations while you eat and just want good food that's not super expensive, definitely check this place out! We definitely haven't regretted coming.
Came here for their trivia night with some friends. I had been wanting to try this spot for a very long time. I like their aesthetic and what they're going for, but my biggest complaint is it was LOUD. I could hardly hear myself think here. This is no one's fault, and it might be better on a less busy night without someone announcing things on a microphone, but we were all screaming at each other adding to the cacophony of screeching diners. I ordered the grilled cheese burger. I loved the concept, but something was off about the meat. I couldn't place it, but it didn't taste right. I was ok when I got home and so were my friends who got burgers too. The sweet potato tots were fine. I liked having a non-fry option! I like how creative they are with their burgers here. My friend got the Elvis burger (the one with peanut butter) and I have to admit, that was a new combination for me! I'm interested in coming back at a less busy time to try other things on the menu because this spot was cool.
Four of us went here for dinner. It is a really cool place that was an old fire station converted to a restaurant. The hole in the ceiling where the pole was is still there. This place is down town and parking can be tough. We ended up having to pay to park at a public parking area because we could not locate a spot. There is a decent craft beer list to choose from as well. The menu is predominantly burgers and all 4 of us got different ones. My son and I both got ones that had some spice/peppers on it and they had a little kick to it. Our waitress was fantastic with a great smile, attitude and was very attentive. Cool place to go

Cool burger joint in an old firehouse. Burgers were excellent and very tasty. I made the mistake of ordering the tater tots not realizing they were of the sweet potato variety. I was not a big fan of those at all. My wife had the fries which were pretty good. Luckily the waitress switched out my tots for these after I asked. Overall a good place to grab a good burger and fries with a good atmosphere and adequate service. read more
This place has adult milkshakes. They are interesting in terms of how they're handling Covid and are using disposable utensils and plates and you get charged a Covid fee. The burger I ordered was really good however I really did notEnjoy the cocktails I ordered as they were too strong. read more

I just love a good server who is friendly, welcoming, attentive, thoughtful and makes great suggestions. Ethan F (name on the receipt) suggested the BBQ sauce for the wings, great choice! I love grilled wings (when cooked right) over fried wings any day. We decided on the engine company 2's fire burger, a great balance of nicely charred meat and fresh veggie toppings. Ethan asked if we wanted to add cheese since it was one of the few burgers that didn't have it, yes please! Then he made sure it came out split in half without us asking so we didn't have to deal with the struggle of me always getting the smaller half since I can't ever cut burgers evenly on my own. He brought a lid for our blue cheese when we asked for a to-go box. He took such good care of us. His girlfriend must be one lucky woman! read more

This was a great place to dine at for a casual late night dinner. Due to covid-19, most places in Richmond closed at 8-9:00pm and since I eat usually later than normal people, I found this place to be a perfect fit! They close at midnight, but the bar closes at 10:00PM. They are very covid conscious as they have socially distanced seating, QR code online menus, and exclusively use all recyclable plates and plastic utensils. It's not the restaurant's fault, but man, I wish I could have seen what the place was like before covid and see their normal plating. It was sad to see so few people in the restaurant because the food was quite good for a fair price. I can't imagine how much more lively this place would have been sans covid, but it was still such a nice venue with great service. We arrived a little earlier than 9:30PM and thankfully the server allowed us one round of drinks. This is fair since technically the law is that no alcohol is allowed after 10:00PM so just as long as we were finished before that, it was fine. I ordered the Strawberry Lemonade with half the sweetness and it was quite delicious! It made me wish I came earlier because I would have definitely enjoyed having another one or trying one of their adult milkshakes. It paired perfectly with the spicy bacon jalapeño peppers. These were super yummy, and my only slight complaint would be I wish I was given one more because the order is only 4 peppers. We both decided to get burgers and they came out really quickly! My friend got the Beer Cheese Burger and I got the edamame vegan burger with mushroom & Swiss. We got chips & fries as our respective sides and both were also excellent ! I could have ordered another side of chips they were so good. My friend thoroughly enjoyed his beer cheese burger, as it was cooked perfectly to temp and he loved the beer cheese. He only wished he had a little more beer cheese. My Edamame Vegan Mushroom Swiss Burger was great! The edamame puree patty gave it an interesting texture, but I think they did a good job considering it was a edamame and vegan. My only note would be that I wish they gave it some more seasoning and flavour. The mushrooms and Swiss were great with the patty and I would definitely want to come back and try this with the black bean patty. Both burgers were $12 and that was such a steal considering the size of the burgers and sides! :) All in all, I would love to come back and try some of the other appetizers and entrees. Hopefully when covid ends it can gain more business, but until then, it's a very safe place to dine! read more

Station 2 is a stellar choice for a hearty burger in Shockoe Bottom. A local beer friend and I had just wrapped up happy hour nearby and were headed to the Grand Illumination at the Poe Museum when she suggested stopping back for dinner later on. It was a Friday night and we walked in around 7 pm. Fortunately, we were able to be seated right away! It's a fairly large establishment built in a renovated firehouse. The ambiance is modern but chill while still maintaining the original feel. We were given drink and food menus and were happy to see they offered small pours of all their draft beers. We were confused by the dots next to certain beers. Turns out that they rotate through so many beers that they don't want to waste paper by constantly redoing the menu, so a dot means it's available. No dot means it's on deck. That concept is one I can get behind, but the execution is admittedly confusing. We both had already chosen different beers that interested us before learning that they weren't actually available. I think they need to reconsider the way the menu is organized. I still want to go back whenever they put that strawberry rhubarb beer on. Let me know if you see that it's tapped, please! The food menu is much more straightforward. Go for a burger. That's the main attraction. There are several different topping concoctions available, but we both chose the same one: the 'George Orwell' -- burgers topped with two fried eggs, two slices of bacon, and mozzarella cheese. It was served between mayo slathered grilled texas toast. So indulgent! You can choose your protein also: beef, turkey burger, grilled chicken, or vegetarian. I chose the beef and requested it medium well -- "not too pink, but some is okay." It came out well done in actuality, no pink at all, but fortunately it didn't taste burnt and was still good. I'll just know to say "medium" in the future. Our server was a hoot. I don't know if it was part of the firehouse theme, but Josh ran around from table to table -- literally hustled -- looking incredibly stressed out, but he was also extremely pleasant and authentically funny. I've never seen a server able to pull that off before. Our meals were each about $25 after tip, which isn't too crazy. I am curious about more of their burger options and definitely want to try their adult milkshakes sometime too! read more

The burgers and chips (homemade i think!) are my favorite here!! Always loved this place to fulfill my burger cravings. This past time I visited, my boyfriend and I decided to get the station ladder (which is usually a challenge. one he failed last year). We shared it and it was more than enough food for the both of us. Other recommendations: - Classic Station 2 -george Orwell burger (EGGS!) - American nachos - Wings (all the flavorsss) Majority of the things that I have tried here, I have liked. Only thing is I have to come here with an appetite because they're food is pretty heavy on the palette. read more

Grabbed a burger and fries for take out. Packaging was cool, plus points for providing the gravy for the wet fries on the side. Burger was okay, it lacked actual seasoning but the toppings and cheese made it cool. The wet fries were really good, the cheese was not just melted on the top, but seemingly in layers, the gravy took them to the next level. I'll be back. read more

Station 2 is a cozy little restaurant that serves typical bar food. The restaurant is located inside of an old Firestation which sets a really cool vibe when your dining in. Station 2 gets high Mark's in my book for creativity, they make some really cool combinations for burgers. However, Taste wise the sandwhichs seem to fall flat. I've been to Station 2 a few times and each time I leave thinking that my meal was missing something. Richmond has such a great food scene and amongst its competitors Station 2 is just ok. read more

I love this spot. Been to it a couple times in the past year. They have a huge burger menu which is my go to-- more reviews to come as I will try every burger they have. Parking is pretty difficult, if anyone knows of a pay to park lot near by please let me know!! Otherwise you find yourself driving around the block many times to parallel park. Their drafts list is huge, I had the stone tropic thunder which is always great, and the good vibes which was incredibly sour, I just thought it be a little more sweet. Got the "beer fest" burger. A burg with fried onion, bacon, chips and beer cheese on top. Ultimately it was to big for me to bite into so I ate all the topping off of it. Ended up be really good anyway- incredibly messy though. Wish the bun wasn't so huge- I wish that about a bunch of burger places though. Will be back!! read more

Ok. I realized just now I never posted my initial review and we are back for a second time first review As a result of a Google search we ended up here for a Sunday afternoon brunch/meal We loved the atmosphere. Food was mixed. The waffle sliders were spot on with amazing syrup and sausage was great. Second review. 6-15-19 We ordered the Wet Fries and BBQ Barista w side of chili. Fries were really good. The chili and burger were spot on with the bun being the drawback as it was hard and not fresh. Service was good, not great, as we were out of drinks before asking if we wanted more (and place was not packed). But there were periodic checking to see if things were good. read more

Got delivery from here as it's local and we are trying to enjoy some of the non-chain restaurants in our neighborhood. We've gone here a few times for drinks and their hot dog special when they were open for dine-in service in the past. This was our first time trying their burgers and getting delivery and we were very pleasantly surprised. I got the New New Mexico burger which had pepper jack melted over a whole roasted green chile, pickled jalapeño, lettuce, tomato, red onion, corn salsa, & chipotle aioli. I also got a side of sweet potato tater tots. That burger was made to perfection, with pink just as I requested. Nothing beats that charbroiled flavor either. Just a really good burger. I am looking forward to trying more of their burgers! Highly recommended! read more

Love the Elvis if you like sweet and savory. Get a veggie curryious for spicy and savory. Either way can't go wrong. My 2 companions and I had to elvis, veggie curryious, and hawaiian burgers along with sweet potato tater tots. They were all excellent and it has a great beer selection too. Good traditional american food with a few twists, great beer, and awesome atmosphere. Plus the place jut looks fantastic since its a renovated old fire house. read more

I ate here recently while I was on a day trip in Richmond. I actually decided to go here based on other Yelp reviews, and they weren't wrong. Nice atmosphere. We were seated close to the bar which I appreciated because there were several TVs in the bar area, all with some kind of sporting event on (I'm a sports fan). The TVs were far enough not to distract me from my date, but close enough so I could see scores clearly now and then. The server was very kind. She even recommended a couple of dishes since it was our first visit. We got wet fries which have smoked gouda and gravy (reminded me of an American take on poutine). They were good but a tad bland (I prefer salty flavors so maybe it was just me). We also ordered a pineapple hard cider which was a nice complement to the savory fries. Lastly, we had the peanut butter pie. Rich and delicious! I don't have a sweet tooth (I don't typically eat dessert) so I didn't finish it all, but it was still delicious. I'm sure it will more than satisfy someone with a sweet tooth and a love for peanut butter and chocolate. I didn't order a burger, but I saw several that I wanted to try (spicy wasabi? curryous? station ladder? Yes, please!). The service was a little slow and it wasn't very busy. 4 out of 5 stars, and I'd definitely go back to try a burger and a shake! read more

This place didn't disappoint! Since moving here a little under a month ago my boyfriend has come here like 4 times and always tells me how good it is. Finally I was in town so we went, and I'm so happy we did! I ordered the black bean burger classic style and my boyfriend has the black and bleu. This was hands down the best black bean burger I ever had. Definitely get honey mustard and the chipotle aioli on the side because both took our meals to the next level. We also got the raspberry adult milkshake which was pretty good and I don't even like the taste of alcohol. Lastly, shoutout to our waitress Amy- She was attentive and super nice! 3 words- Black Bean Burger. I'm not a huge meat eater and I wanted to try the BBB and I loved them. SO tasty. The wet fries were also really delicious. They reminded me of a poutine I tried while I was visiting Toronto. So if you always wanted to try poutine and you live in RVA this might be your next best bet. Ambience- very casual. this is a place you can attend with anyone especially large groups. price- Really great. My burgers were $4 each. Can't beat it. I'm not a big burger person so idk how often I'll frequent this place, but if I ever have a craving I will definitely go here. read more

I've been here before for a happy hour thing (was great food and beer options!) So I already knew it would be good....I was concerned for space and food options as a lot of places are not running full menu but it sure seemed like it. We ordered fried pickles and poutine ("wet fries") which the pickles were great except one that my daughter felt was a little overcooked (so late it). Itcame with ranch but it would have been nice to have a spicy option as well as seems to usually be the case but just my opinion. The poutine was very good - they used Gouda which isn't no means fresh cheese curds like I've had but for around here it was great! Brown gravy went really well and the fries were nice and crispy and the plate was full! Recommended. I got the daily special - $2 hotdog (which was not anything small) that could include at no cost diced onions and pickles. If you want to pay you get chili or for more apparently anything for a burger is also an option. The onions and pickles with some mustard was great! Daughter got a burger I think the most basic with cheese and some toppings but she skipped all of them except onions on the side. Got some cups of water and I got a draft beer - Sycamore Brewing Pilsner. all in all great prices and great service and fast delivery! Maintained distance between tables, no menus (use your phone), staff wore masks and everything was kept clean. read more
