Station 22 brought in a new chef from Communal and revamped their entire menu, and I'd say it's a major improvement. The Nashville hot chicken sandwich was very juicy and full of flavor. If I were a food critic (which I am not) I would argue that it could have been a little spicier (if you're serving a Nashville hot, make it a Nashville hot. Right?) and I'd recommend they use breast meat instead of thighs. Don't get me wrong, I am a huge lover of chicken thighs... they stay super moist and have good chicken flavor. But in a sandwich, they can be a bit stringy and you've really got to hold on tight and pull and be careful not to pull the chicken out from between the bun. The drop biscuits are amazing. The honey/vanilla butter is the perfect combo. The dirty fries are dusted with some extra Cajun-like seasoning. I recommend going dirty. :) read more

Their famous fried chicken is well paired with their buttery and moist drop biscuits or delicious waffles and buttermilk syrup. @ljmeisinger gave to the Cobb salad. I dined on the savory chorizo meatloaf and bacon Brussels sprouts while my niece declared their take on the club sandwich to be a success. We all tried each other's dishes and downed the fried green tomatoes and well seasoned fries. I came here for a post-wedding brunch. We had a big reservation - about 50 people or so. There was a limited menu, but we did have some options. The biscuits we out of this world!! Absolutely the best part of the meal. I could have had 2 orders all to myself. It took them 1.5 hours (of a 3 hour reservation) to get everyone coffees. The deviled eggs were not great. I split the chicken and waffles and the three berry crepe with my partner. Chicken and waffles were solid, but I only had a couple bites of the crepe because I was not a fan of them. We tried a few appetizers and I can honestly say the Mac n cheese, while good, isn't really worth it's price tag. The fried funeral potatoes were really good with the dipping sauce that they came with. They are a replacement to the hush puppies though. The root beer was very tasty and sweet but I wouldn't buy it again. The Nashville Hot Chicken with sweet potato fries was pretty good but it wasn't spicy at all. This kinda disappointed me because I wanted a bit of heat. The reason I can't give it four stars is because the menu was not up to date and we had to find out after ordering that the hush puppies don't exist anymore. I went to Station 22 on a whim with some friends. We were in the area and hungry, so we decided why not. Overall, the food was pretty good. It wouldn't say it was the best food I've had, but they had some gems in the mix. I normally don't care for potatoes, but their French fries were incredible and could not help myself from going for another one. The shrimp and grits were flavorful and very filling (so I got a couple meals out of it). I was also pleased that the shrimp is actually substantial, and there's more than just a couple, so I felt like it was a great deal for the price. Also, the banana pudding was DIVINE. I think it's totally worth it just to stop by for dessert. The only thing that was very underwhelming were the Brussels sprouts...they were bland and poorly cooked. Other than that, we enjoyed the experience. The server was a little air-headed and would get confused, but he was giving an honest effort to provide good service and go above and beyond to take care of us, so it more than made up for it. We wanted hush puppies but we're informed that they discontinued them so we got fries potatoes, they were still good. Disappointed in the "award winning mac and cheese", was not worth $9. I love the ambiance of this restaurant and the design is just so cute! I've only been here for brunch and I like their wide selection, unfortunately there's not a lot of GF options. The farm breakfast is tasty, potatoes have a nice seasoning on it. They were willing to switch the biscuit to fruit for me as a GF alternative. But the fruit wasn't too appealing, the oranges were a little old. My friend loved the chicken sandwich, great flavors and a juicy chicken with a crispy coating. Servers are always pleasant and accommodating. Truly a gold star restaurant for downtown Provo! One drawback is the bathroom situation. It's not the restaurants fault at all, but you're sharing a few toilets with multiple businesses and restaurants in that building (and I believe you need to ask the server for a key, but I could be mistaken). This can involve a short walk, a decent wait, and a small chance that a particular bathroom item is low on supply. Maybe this could be improved, but I understand additional plumbing retrofits are expensive. But, as you can see by my five star review above, this should not deter you from eating at the unique, scrumptious eatery that is Station 22! read more

One and done!!! 1 hour and 15 minutes to get our food and we only have four and a 3 yr old in our party. The fried pickles were cold and mushy (disgusting). My 18 year old daughter and my 3 year old granddaughter both ordered mac n cheese. My daughter's adult portion was half the size of my granddaughters kids order. You better believe I sent it back! Sadly I was not impressed by the food here. My biggest complaint about this restaurant is that the rent weren't hardly any healthy options. They had a few salads but only had the option to add fried chicken to it. Then, the salad itself wasn't great. Also tried the hot chicken sandwich which was better. I wouldn't recommend the Brussels sprouts. If you are going to eat here, don't even bother eating healthy - go for the Mac n cheese, shrimp and grits, and fried cookie dough. That seems more like their specialty. I just encourage adding a few more healthy options, such as the salmon that used to be on the menu. read more

Honestly, wishing I had as good of an experience as the first time I came to this restaurant many years ago. Now what remains is a shell of what it used to be. POSITIVES: I appreciate the simplicity of the menu, which means the chefs are more focused on specializing these dishes instead of spreading themselves thin. But the absolute best part of the meal was the side of Mac n Cheese (apparently award winning, but none of them were able to tell me what award it was/who awarded them/when the award was given). The chicken country fried steak was also a winner in my book, and probably the best out of the entrees we tried that evening. NEGATIVES: we had high hopes for these meals, and most of them didn't deliver. The fried chicken sandwich was too sweet with the xandee ranch and coleslaw, and we just an awkward combo for our tastes. The chicken and waffles tasted okay, but felt very scant, and would leave you feeling hungry (considering it's like $13, that's pretty awful). The Whiskey Chicken had an interesting tangy flavor that was almost like A1 steak sauce, plus the whiskey flavor, but it failed to really impress anyone at our table who all tried it. On another note, the service we had was pretty abysmal... Out waitress seemed a bit of an airhead, as we had to remind her not one, not two, but THREE times for multiple things! First it was for straws, then it was for the fry sauce she forgot, then it was to refill our waters, and also for our boxes at the end. I'm sure she felt stressed that night, and was pretty busy... But come on, if you're forgetting the basic things the customers are asking for, and they have to remind you 2-3 times for each of these things, you gotta write it down, or figure something else out. PRICE: easily $15-20 per person. RECOMMENDED: the only things I can really recommend are the chicken fried steak, and the Mac and cheese. I really wish I could have tried the fried cookie dough balls for dessert or the cake they had... We stopped by for a quick late night bite for the first time since they're located next door to the ComedySportz Improv. The service staff is pretty young, but decent. I liked the interior decor -- how open and bright it is. I was bummed to find out that they're dry even though they have what looks like a bar. They seem to specialize in soft drinks like ginger beer, root beer, and sodas as well as fried chicken / comfort food. I was surprised to find that the place has a real a$$ on it as there's even more seating in the back. The place was pretty popping for the middle of thr week. We ordered a Cock n Bull CHERRY Ginger beer which was just delightful. I dug how they give you a glass full of big ol' ice cubes so it goes down oh-so-smooth. We split a wedge salad and the hot chicken sandwich with a side of dirty fries and honey mustard-ish fry sauce. I loved the wedge salad --- great size and it comes with green goddess dressing which I've never seen, but it definitely worked with the bacon and pickled red onions. The chicken was SO tender and juicy, I couldn't have been happier. It's a little spicy so I would probably try the regular chicken sandwich next time. The dirty fries seemed more like cajun even though they asked us to clarify which one we wanted, and we said dirty, not cajun. Fry sauce was very, very good. Keep that for some of your sammy. First, the food was mediocre at best. I had the chicken fried steak with the mac and cheese side. The chicken fried steak was tough. However, it did taste good. Also, it was really hot in the restaurant and the indoor swamp cooler, which was meant to keep it cool inside, helped some, but added to the humidity and was very noisy. It was more than burnt, it was obliterated, not to mention they missed the gravy on my order. I was very disappointed with the food here. I'd heard great things about Station 22, and it was frankly the worst food I've had in Provo--and I've tried almost every restaurant here.   I'm a very polite client, and I love to support local restaurants and businesses. I am a foodie, but I'm pretty open-minded. At the same time, I would not want anyone else to have my experience.   I found the menu to be lackluster. They recently redesigned said menu, and they took off everything that my date and I had researched and planned to order. Offerings now feel like things that I could easily make at home. It's fair, it's just not exciting. Feels like a diner (which is fine, if that's what you're looking for!)   The food quality, again, tasted like I was at the diner by my house. It was really average, but nothing great. The mac and cheese might have been reheated. The meatloaf was small and somewhat dry in my opinion, but not bad.   The famous chicken and waffles fell flat. There wasn't enough chicken, and the dish overall felt extremely dry unless drenched in the exceedingly sweet syrup.   The service was mediocre. The staff was incredibly friendly and I hold no personal grudge, but: *Slow service (we stood and waited at the front for several minutes despite several empty tables on a relatively calm weekday evening). The food was also quite slow in coming, and our appetizer was delivered at the same time as our entrees. Everything was served at once, so half of our food got cold and we felt rushed trying to eat things before they turned to ice. *We sat for a long time before ultimately getting up to go find our waitress for our check. *My date never received the second half of his dish. He ordered the chorizo meatloaf, which comes automatically with mashed potatoes--those just never came. We didn't have our menus so we weren't sure (and he didn't want to make a fuss) so I couldn't be certain until I snapped a picture of the menu as we were leaving the restaurant. read more

If your bus ever comes past this station hop off and transfer to ride on the flavor express. This area of Provo is one area that good food is around nearly every corner. Station 22 should be one that a weary traveler could consider. Along with their delicious plates they also have one of the largest root beer selections this side of the point of the mountain (sorry for the Utah reference there). I came in with friends and each of them said the same that this was spot to grab some grub while at a conference here in downtown Provo. Holy comfort food is what you get here at station 22 while you are away from home. Not only were the layers of flavor in each bite with my Nashville Chicken Sandwich but the portion was generous. Along with award winning Mac and Cheese well let's just say that although you may possibly be traveling through Provo, this place will take you home with this fresh Mac and cheese. Also did someone say Biscuits and Gravy well at least one person in my group has a love of this home cooked epic plate of deliciousness. Then there was the Southern Hush Puppies oh praise the Lord when all things just come together to make an epic day out with friends. Really wanted to like this place, but the quality of food just wasn't there. While there, I tried the chicken and waffles, the meatloaf, and cornbread. The chicken was dry and bland, and the waffle was over cooked and hard. The meatloaf was just a big meatball and also lacked flavor. The meatball initially came out cold, and we had to ask for a new one. I did really like the cornbread and house lemonade, though. I want so so badly to be able to give them more stars because the food was really delicious, but unfortunately the service overshadowed everything. My party and I got seated at 1030am and didn't end up leaving till 12:10pm for a myriad of reasons. There were only two servers on a Saturday morning, and they also had to serve as the hostesses. It was tough on them and I feel bad - because unfortunately it showed in the service. Our main entrees came out pretty fast - only took about 20 mins. However we were never checked on again, drinks went unfilled till we were pretty much done with our meal. And when ordered dessert it took 30 mins to get it! We ordered the 22 dream pie. It didn't need to be made, just sliced and placed on a plate, and it took so long to get to us we almost just asked not to have it at all but then we were never checked on again so couldn't even retract the order. We ordered a Nashville hot chicken sandwich, the fries were amazing! And the sandwich was a perfect blend of subtle heat and sweetness! Would definitely order it again! Southern food is supposed to have strong, well balanced flavors with a variety of seasonings and spices. Unfortunately our meals were not like this. The burger was under seasoned and overpriced. Covered in cheese and sauce and toppings but I couldn't taste the burger! Girlfriends fried chicken was dry, stringy, and bland. The sodas were a fun addition but very expensive. Food here is also overpriced. Service was fine. We got sat right next to the giant front door and were blasted with cold air every time someone walked in or out.
