This had to have been the best steak n shake experience of my life. I visited at about midnight Friday night/Saturday morning and the restaurant was very clean and inviting. The staff were friendly which isn't that easy to do when you're working 3rd shift. Shamika was our server and she was amazing. So sweet and funny. Very patient and extremely knowledgeable. She was definitely the star of the show. The value really cant be beat. For 4 $ I got a double cheeseburger, fries, an additional side (I got double fries, big surprise right?) And a cookie. Like where else can you get a deal like that? I'll wait.. The food came out fast and hot. It was really delicious, exactly what I want from a diner at midnight, or anytime really. I wish the kzoo location had similar management as this location because clearly they know what they are doing. It honestly was a remarkably good visit, a very happy surprise. But I can't ignore what's been happening lately because the shift in service has been impossible to overlook. The past two weekends, my server has been Nalyssa, and both experiences were extremely disappointing. Two weeks ago, she was at the computer system openly talking badly about a coworker--loud enough for my entire family to hear. It made all of us uncomfortable. When she brought our food and it was incorrect, she became defensive instead of willing to fix the issue. She went right back to the computer and started talking badly about my family as well. That was my breaking point. I wanted to speak to a manager, but my family didn't want to be embarrassed. This past weekend, she was our server again, and the behavior continued. She seemed irritated from the moment she approached our table. I overheard her complaining about a bad tip she received, which made me uncomfortable because I consider myself a good tipper, but her comments made me second guess everything. She also used multiple cuss words nearby, which is unacceptable, especially with my young daughter sitting right there. My daughter has been begging to work as a host at Red Robin someday, but after witnessing this behavior, I can't in good conscience encourage her to work in an environment where this is allowed. I'm honestly shocked that Red Robin would allow a server to behave this way. She lacks basic respect and professionalism. We even spoke to a table near us, and they felt the same discomfort. I didn't see any managers available to report this to, but this was the final straw. I truly hope something is done because my family and I are extremely disappointed and frustrated with how drastically the standards have dropped. And to add to everything, two weeks ago I overheard her mention having a manager "fix" a tip, which is a major red flag. I'm speaking up because we've supported Red Robin for years, and it's upsetting to see it decline like this. I hope this message is taken seriously. Thank you.
